It is an established fact the Mou prefers the counter attacking style. He demands total defending from every member of the team beginning from the lone striker. Van Gaal does not have a typical pattern, he tweaks a lot. But generally he loves his teams to keep the ball- not in a tiki taka way but...in some sort of stupiid boring way.

Both managers have been very successful though and are great by all standards. I think they are just having a blip.

In LvG's two seasons he has spent a total of a little below £300m. Before him Moyes only signed Fellaini. Check your facts.

That said, I think LvG has performed below par being coach of the best club in England.

I think your main point is that Mou plays defensively, which is a fact.

But I don't think Modric at no 10 is defensive. Rather you think he should have had a 3man midfield which should include both Modric and Ozil.(?) That would be a more attacking formation.

If he got £300m as LvG did, he would win the EPL and may be UCL. But then leaves United in shambles.

Actually, when it comes to normal coaching I rate Wenger and I think his problem is not being humble enough to sign players with quality to match his tactical nous.
