Not bad to be honest. Rashford is a very good player himself and a good goal scorer.

Unless he will join for less than 40m, bad deal. Even the 40m is because of his position as a striker, age, experience and pedigree not because of his performance. This itself is in hope that Arteta will rehab him.

The last time ESR was active was 3 seasons ago where he bagged 10 goals from the wing( is it 10 or more?).
1. Since then, he has been in and out of the team due to injuries. He used almost the whole 2022/2023 season to do surgery and recuperate but still picked different injuries afterward.

2. Vieira arrived at Arsenal with a foot injury he sustained on international duty. He was out for like 3 months this season when he opted to do the groin surgery once and for all.

Somebody tell us how these two scenarios take relate.

Moreso, Vieira has the better chance of making the team's squad based on skillsets.

ESR is good but his problem is his position. He is not fast and explosive enough to play on the wing. In midfield, he is limited too.
You posted two similar scenarios and you are still wondering how both relate. 😂

Or was that a rhetoric question? Please forgive me if it is.

Bros, since both ESR and Vieira started their Arsenal careers, ESR has been the more useful- just as you said already.

I understand his injury issues. But I believe he has recovered from them having stayed extensively away from the pitch. Hence my opinion that if given at least one more season I will prove himself because he is already a very good player. His being slow is because he is not yet fully fit. Once he gets a preseason under Arteta you will see how good he is. I can assure you he is a better player than Vieira (assuming we are looking at keeping one of the two)

Abeg if argument Dey hungry u, go look for who to argue endlessly with for front.

Someone ask which players do we want the club to sell; I listed my own choice . He requested for reasons and why listed ESR and I provided reasons to him which was fine by him. You are the one that started argument about Viera and what not while questioning my personal opinion .

Now u are making it seem as if I was the one arguing with u over ur personal opinion.
I did not make anything seem like an argument. In fact you are the one who tagged the discussion and argument. I have aways insisted in calling it your opinion or my opinion.

I only engaged you to know why you got to that opinion and your reasons which you are entirely entitled to were not cogent enough to make me change mine.

You said it's because of injury that you want ESR out, but that you are willing to give Vieira a chance and I felt like that isnt fair enough because Vieira missed more games last season due to same injury factor.

There is no argument here. Are you scared of arguing with me? undecided

I hope u are not about to start one of ur merry-go-round arguments with me on this ESR matter cos me I no too get time for those kind arguments .

Yesterday I shared a screenshot of ESR’s injury history at Arsenal here . In 3 straight season he messed 30 or more games due to injury . In the last season he missed 21 games and in this recently concluded season he missed 10 games due to injury .

I have now attached Viera’s injury history to this post for comparison . Now tell me how ESR and Viera’s injury history are similar ?

All I’ve said is ; let Viera be given a chance to prove this season’s injury is a one-off thing . Let him be given a chance next season to deputize Odegaard in that role. As for ESR, his 5 years at Arsenal already confirmed he’s too injury prone to be depended on by an elite team like Arsenal .

Simple !
You don't want argument but you are bringing 18/19 stats for ESR.

In the season that just finished, Vieira missed more games through injury than ESR. But you are willing to offer him an extension 'in an elite team' whereas your reason for not minding selling ESR is the same injury issue.

By the way neither of us will affect what will happen to them next season, so no point. It's just a personal opinion which I made clear to you. I will take ESR over Vieira without blinking.

This KDB comparison sha....hmm
You are the one arguing that was why I asked if you understood what I posted.

Also you are trickishly trying to drive the KDB comparison like I meant he is as good as KDB. Mtchew!

As for fitness issues, he is not the only one with problems. We have Vieira, Nelson etc with similar problems. So my question is why him?

The bold is what I am advocating. However, if we miraculously stumble on a young academy graduate in the mould of Man Utd's Mainoo, I won't still mind selling him.

As regards ur first paragraph, If u check my initial post jodera quoted I listed Nelson and Smith-Rowe as players I want sold. Smith-Rowe only became a talking point when Jodera inquired the reason why I listed Smith-Rowe. As for Elneny and Cedric, I don't even see them as arsenal players cos I know they are certainly leaving. I also have a feeling Nketiah will seek for permission to leave the club because he obviously can't be guaranteed regular starting role considering we will be buying a new striker .

I am willing to give Viera a chance to play in that Odegaard's role this coming season.
So I think he should definitely stay
Vieira has the same fitness issues you complained about ESR. The bolded is exactly where I am with ESR. So you cannot refute my opinion because it's now sounding like yours. And if I am to choose I'll choose ESR ahead of Vieira without blinking.

That said, Arteta will not likely sign more than three players this window considering that we have many coming back from loan and will be targeting mostly marquee signings. Now with Elneny and Cedric certain to leave, and probably Nketiah and Nelson, I don't think either of ESR or Vieira will leave too.

U get!

It is quality replacement that matters to me, not some unnecessary sentimental attachment to certain players.

Xhaka left Arsenal and we got a quality & worthy replacement in Rice; that's the kind of stuff I want to see. Not keeping an injury prone talented player with the fear that he may turn out to be Serge Gnabry or Kevin Debruyne in the future.
There are more than enough garbage in the team to throw out. Why ESR?

ESR is not worse than Nelson, Vieira, or Nketiah and certainly not Elneny or Cedric. His major problem is fitness and not lack of talent.

And just as we saw Havertz become what he is, I am pretty confident ESR can become our own KDB under one season with Arteta, he only needs to stay fit.

We can sell him now for another top midfielder I have no problem with that. But if we can, let's keep him. That is my opinion.

ESR is not anywhere near KDB please. Were you not the one who said we need another dynamic midfielder like KDB? Arteta would have used ESR in that role but we all know why. BTW, his talent is not the issue here, his unavailability due to injuries is why we should move him on.
What do you mean by the bolded? and relate it to what I posted.

I am absolutely with you on this. While I don’t believe he should remain our long term solution, I can’t deny he was clutch and rewarded Arteta’s faith.

He worked tirelessly for the team, more than any other striker on the roster did or could have and he easily could have score more goals.

Definitely one of our best players in 2024.
Arteta built the team around him which favoured him. But his finishing needs to be better if he can continue the role. He should pray that we don't get a goal poacher because next season Arteta may want to change the system especially if he signs a true striker

I think Mostob took the words out of my mouth. Smith-Rowe has no use in this team anymore; we don't miss him despite his long absence.

He is not the only player injured this season , but I can't confidently say he's one player we didn't miss. He falls under the same classification as Nelson; he should leave so can have another player occupy that space.

I don't even mind if we promote a youth player to his role sef
It will not be wise for me to sell ESR now.

ESR is like KDB in terms of talent. Good movement both on and off the ball, thinks well, good positioning and good finishing with an eye for goals. Though this season he has been unable to keep up with the pace. His problem this season was a slow return to full fitness. I suspect it was deliberate to avoid reoccurrence of his injury.

For such players you have to be patient if not we would be making the mistake Chelsea made losing KDB.

I don't care whatever Plan Arteta has for next season but it better be one that makes BUkayo Saka a top 2 candidate for POTs 2024/25? Just look at how City swept the last 5seasons with not a break in Transmission. Even Dias win am. They kon only nominate Saliba this time asif wetin he do no better pass. If anything at all, Watkins should be taking this award, not Foden. I don't care whatever explanation or defense you have for him, bring it on and I'll counter you properly. Wetin sef?

Anyways, back to what concerns me most, Mikel Arteta better structure game time to maximize Saka this coming season. We don't want anything to link this guy with burn out GOING FORWARD. Whatever arrival will make us achieve this should come asap abeg. Irrespective of what happens tomorrow, Saka going forward must flourish and win that award. C'est fini.
Saka started taking up the burden of the team at a very young age and it is telling on him as he already looks old- dropped in pace, unable to take his man, and some times looks confused about what he should be doing. This level of responsibility meant his growth may probably have stunted. The right approach for the manager ahead of next season is to get someone who can relieve him and yet he will not feel missed or that something is off. So that he can come into games with a relaxed mind and do what he knows best.

So in summary, Saka needs a worthy deputy. Same goes to Odegaard.

Only God knows what will happen this Sunday sha.

Seeing how Man City have always won all their matches leading to the final day, all hope ought to be lost.

But....

Anyways sha, we watch!!
The title race is still open and anything is still possible. A red card, a penalty, VAR etc. It's hope for me, because City doesn't look like a team that will lose, but then hope maketh not ashamed for all things are possible.

It's been a great ride for Arsenal to get to this point. At 6 games to go after we drew at Man City it was a three horse race of which very few felt Liverpool were the ones with the advantage because of their easier run of games and they were at the top. At the end of it all it has boiled down to just us and City.

Winning it would make a huge statement and would mark a new beginning at the club after years of oblivion. It will shine a bright light again at the north of London. However, win or lose the team has done well as you cannot fault a team that fought for the title till the last day. I will be anticipating...
