The impressive part is that he does it without fouling the goalie. White does not look to have any remarkable skills. He is all brain and calculations. I once analysed our team strengths and said that White is a cerebral player. The way he positions himself and his timing is superb. |

Jodera: Maybe it's to give to club time to get in a successor quickly.
My own is that these boys have been playing and winning since Jan when he announced it, I'm just surprised it's ending of April that it'll now affect them.
To me, I just see it as inferior qualities sha. The Liverpool that drag with Guardiola no be the same Liverpool at all.
Only Nunez himself na minus 3. Szobo na another person wey no really live up to expectations Diaz is not the Diaz we all know again.
They just choked when the pressure was much sha. My opinion tho!! I am with you on the fact that the announcement couldn't have affected them psychologically because when the announcement was made it made them look deadlier despite all the injuries. Their crumble started in the game against Crystal Palaxce where they were exposed especially Salah. And the most vulnerable time to lose is after a loss. The effect usually ripples through. Teams got to find out that Liverpool cannot break a low block and rely mainly on long balls to Salah who cuts in with pace. So what teams do now is to defend the middle of the defense from long range shots and cut backs and allow Liverpool to depend on crosses knowing that they don't have tall strikers especially Salah and Diaz who are useless with aerial balls. Interestingly at the beginning of the season I never considered Liverpool as title contenders because I felt their team was weaker and their many injuries. |

The truth is that you can get all those from free to air to a reasonable extent. So when I say preference I mean how do you really want any of those. For example, if your kids want specific cartoon series then FTA is not for you or if you want all and every live sport event then FTA is not for you. But if you're the occasional type that just want to keep your eyes busy with entertainment, then you can try FTA. All his link up is mostly near the opposition box or inside and he mostly does holdup plays. There's a reason he's called the perfect "back to goal striker".
Like I said, you don't know what false 9 is and you're afraid to research about it for fear of being proved wrong.
To be wrong once in a while no dey kee person but na you sabi... I have done my research and I know where your opinion is originating from. I deliberately wanted to force you to leak it out yourself but you are smart not to. So I will do it for you. Your problem is that you do not have a unique understanding or conviction about who a false 9 is and that is why it is difficult for you to explain what you read. The writer of the article you and Toluxe read was even confused about making examples that is why he was shouting Mourinho. Kane is a striker by all standards and no sensible manager will ask a goal machine like him to leave that duty and start making assists or creating chances instead. Leave blogs and pundits and go to proper coaching sources for better information. Kane is a striker and not a false 9. Good examples are Messi, Fabregas, KDB, Bernado etc. And if you notice you will see Pep or Kruff written all over those examples and not Mourinho. A typical Mourinho striker is a big bully like Drogba, Costa, Kane etc not false 9s. It is not a Mourinho tactics to play a false 9. Never. |

mostob: Let me clarify something here. False 9 is neither a position nor a name on the field. It is a ROLE. A role that can be played by both midfielders and strikers. It is a definition of what you play and how you play on the field. Another funny attempt at grasping straws just to score a point. Every position is a role and every role has a name. Please respect our senses here. |

Jodera: It is more than just helping.
When a striker CONSISTENTLY drop deeps to interplay and Link up Even when his team is with the ball, then you should know that's unusual cos any striker will ought to be at the end of chances when his team is in possession instead of partaking in build-up. That's exactly what Van Persie explained in the screenshot I sent. And like you said, Kane in the Tottenham latter years(under Mou to be specific) changed to one and if you mostly read Bayern page, you'll find out initially how they all complain Kane drops deep even when they're with the ball.
The only reason why Midfielders were used is because they have the tendency and impatience to always want to be with the ball and build up unlike strikers— not like some strikers can't do it but it'll be difficult cos they're not wired that way. (I mean how will you tell Rvn or inzaghi to interplay? Even Auba couldn't do it sef)
But it's very funny that Rvp and Wenger used their own mouth to say that Rvp played as False 9 yet Spy still deh bring semantics. You are already losing touch with the bolded. So we can also call Giroud a false 9? The idea of a false 9 emanates from the fact that the person is not a 9. This is basic logic. |

germaphobe: I agree with you on this, some might say we're wrong but this is a fact(or whatever) I know about football. Because a recognized striker drops deep to help the team doesn't make him a false nine(they should probably find another word to replace that "false). Kane that I know of only started dropping and helping his teammates during the later days of his Tottenham days. Henry at some point started dropping to help his teammates too, we shouldn't call them false nine. RVP was amazing in that aspect too but he wasn't a FALSE nine, he was a complete nine with a desire to help everyone. Anyways what do I know, I'm just a fan who loves watching and playing football. You are hundred percent correct. A striker is a striker no matter where he goes even if he chooses to go and defend cornerkick which we know many do. He is still the striker. |

I dey always enjoy your takes, na comic relief for person wey get stressful day. Bros how far You only have a SS when they are two upfront. Like in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2. One of them is the main striker and the other the support striker. Sometimes the both of them can swap roles depending on how they choose to partner each other, like Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole. Some managers can also use an AM as a SS like Wenger did with Bergkamp (Wenger was always revolutionary, turning known tactics upside down). |

toluxe0075: In other words, Messi, Firmino, Kane, Griezmann Benzema have never played as false 9 in their career. Only Fabregas, Bernado silva, Foden and Havertz have done that.
Fantastic football knowledge. You can not call a striker playing upfront false. That's where he is expected to be. Kane is a striker saying he is a false 9 is stupid. Don't do that. It's stupid. When a fullback is in midfield we say he is inverted. If he is a midfielder we don't say he is inverted. When a goalkeeper uses his feet, we can him sweeper keeper. When a defender does that we don't call him sweeper keeper because he is just a sweeper. When a striker is a 9, you don't call him false. Wow! That's stupid. We call him striker. Toluxe0075
You quoted a simple definition I gave just to discredit me with an epistle. Imagine putting up all those words just to explain false 9.
My simple definition is a midfielder playing upfront. That is the player possesses the skills of a midfielder but is positioned as a striker. You mentioned them as dribbling, ball control, creativity etc.
The examples you gave also justified my claims. Bernado, Messi, Bellingham etc were all midfielders in advanced roles.
Also as you said that a striker drops deep could be due to lack of seeing the ball not necessarily because he has to. In a low block the striker will have less of the ball and will drop deep but he will always be the most advanced player in his team. For a false 9 it is his duty and not just him doing it. Even strikers drop deep to defend. That doesn't make them false 9s.
There is a difference between a midfielder in an advanced role and a striker dropping deep. The bolded is what's a false 9. Common sense will tell you that if he is a striker already there's no point calling him false. It a midfielder is playing midfield will you call him false 10? Makes no sense. The false in that term is because he is not a striker in the first place.
Kane drops deep because that's his pattern not because the coach wants him to. Even at Spurs he does that too. We cannot look at Harry Kane in a team and say he is playing false 9 because he drops deep at times. Kane does that simply to evade markers. That's his pattern. But when you have Kane in your team you don't say he is a false 9. That would be stupid. You can easily replace Kane with Lewandoski, does that change anything? No. If you substitute Kane with Chipo Moting will he also drop deep? No. |

Jodera: Kane is a false 9. I don't blame you cos your football na mostly Livescores
This is Van Persie been branded false 9 as far back as 2009 and even Rvp sef have called himself a False 9 , the last picture.(in this case he called it 9½ ; variant between 9 and 10)
Anybody who watches Van Persie during his time knows this. But I guess you're not familiar with the word then.
I will always teach you new things but no worries, that's why we're Arsenal brothers Kane is already a true 9. He does not even drops deep because he is always their most forward player. You are saying this because you saw Kane holding ball against Arsenal. But forgetting that they were playing in a low block. Kane was still their farthest player. When you say a striker drops deep, it means he is no longer the farthest player. Van Persie was not originally a striker. He was converted by Wenger just as Henry. But under Ferguson he was a true 9. Man United bought him as a true 9. |

If you think Kane pro Mourinho is not a False 9, then Tbh maybe you've not been watching him all these while First of all, what is a false 9? Let's start from there because it seems you probably are using a wrong term to describe what you want. A false 9 is a midfielder playing upfront. Like Cesc Fabregas for Barcelona those days. Harry Kane for all intent is a striker, a 9 and not a false 9 please. May be you didn't get the definition right which misinformed all of us. |

Jodera: Anybody who followed our argument then knows that his clinicality was because of too much romancing the ball and not been able to score goals even when the chance presented itself. He's always at the end of all our whole chances and I told you that he playing as a false 9 didn't stop him from getting chances to score, yet you claimed otherwise that he needs to play as a natural 9(using mitrovic and other Strikers as example), so that he won't be "tired" when such chance presented itself.
How you'll claim a year later that you're a proponent of false 9 while I'm a proponent of natural 9 is befuddling.

We're not benching him to relegate him, it's just to recharge and heal better. A Saka that's fully on form can't be benched by anybody cos he's that good. But it's doing nobody any favours if he continues this way.
I mean, how can Saka doesn't have the confidence to beat a player again. He hardly press too
