We have used this system for just two seasons. Especially last season. Both times we finished close to the title. Last season it was just the magnificence of City and a few other factors that helped them cross the line before us.
So far this season we haven't utilised the system as much due to the injury to Odegaard and Arteta's blunt refusal to play Nwaneri in the last couple of those games.
We all love a good striker but will he fit in? It's like asking for a goalkeeper like Pickford because is the best shot stopper. The fact is that Pickford will not fit into our system because he is not good with his feet.
As for having a plan B, which is good but your plan B shouldn't deviate too much from your plan A otherwise the structure and transitions will collapse. Whatever plan B you want to have would not be to change pattern but to adjust it or tweak it

The reason for the goal drought is simply the lack of an creative midfielder. The injury to Odegaard exposed the lack of support from the bench especially as Arteta refused to give Nwaneri his chance. This led to overdependence on set pieces for goals. That one too has been exposed.
The lack of a central creative presence pushed the creativity to the wings (Saka) which is not proper. Now that Odegaard is back and Saka has rested, watch how this team will score goals with ease.

FYI, the goal outlets for Liverpool is similar. Salah and Diaz/Gakpo are strikers. The difference between our style and Liverpool is in the build up which happens in midfield. But the attack has a similar structure.

We cannot continue to pretend like the league starts in May or April of 2025. We are not taking advantage and that is a serious problem we must address.
Again, Liverpool and City will drop points but can we take advantage? Can we raise our game to get those points? Yesterday was an improvement but for a team with title ambitions, we needed all 3 points, especially when you consider City dropped points.

I just pray Partey doesn’t take his sabbatical this season because he has been unbelievable for us.

Rice is injured, he looks like everything hurts. With Odegaard back, we need to rest Rice, he hasn’t been as impactful. As for Trossard, it’s a shame he is missing these opportunities. I used to trust him with his finishing but he is off and his confidence is down.
I said it 2 weeks ago that the morale of this team is down. Their form and performance has been poor and it is now affecting their psyche. They need someone, preferably a team mate that can rally them mentally because it’s doesn’t seem like Arteta is.
I think that the boys were happy Odegaard is back. His assist to Martinelli would encourage any player. He is also a motivator. I look forward to our next match.

If you're going to base your pattern on crosses because you want to buy Osimhen then you will need to get wingers who are good crossers. If you will limit Saka and Martinelli to crosses then you won't get the best from them. They are goal scorers not crossers. With them, you don't need a striker.
In our pattern, we create the chance from one wing and finish at the other. The goal against Chelsea is the latest example.
