nairalanda1: Coup will not help Cameroon. It would be good if Biya got kicked out , very good, but replacing him with sit tight army rulers won't help much.
Plus Biya is there because the Cameroonian opposition is divided, and because most Cameroonians do not want to take a risk and participate in democracy.
Many of you supporting coups think that developed countries got developed because of some great leader taking over. They did not. They got developed by people using the democratic system to effect change, EVEN when that democratic system was angled against them, and it seemed at first that nothing would change.
Army rule did not help Central African Republic, Chad is a family run business since the 1991 coup, and now Gabon, and even Congo PR is run by a former coupist, turned civillian.
You guys , both you and your tinubu supporting friends, get out and join a party, and work for change within the system. Democracy is common household sewage and trash, but the alternatives are radioactive nuclear waste. You can at least wash off common trash. You don't hold on to power for so long by tolerating opposition, instead, you create the opposition! |

Racoon: The subsidy question have been a recurrent decimal in our national life because each successive government always benefits from it to the extreme disadvantage of the citizens and country.
This is why NNPC refineries were crippled even with the unaccounted billions of dollars budgeted as TAM. Not adding the humongous overhead costs of worker who are being paid from the country's coffers for zilch crude oil refining.
This give rise to unknown criminal enitites called independent markets who are the subsidy cabals that have continued to hold the nation by the jugulars in cahoot with the government This doesn't even make sense! All you seem to be saying is that the people should subsidize all the failures you mentioned above! |

raskymonojendor: Rent oo, not rent ooo - their problem. They are suffering extreme hardship after Nigeria removed fuel subsidy.
Niger republic is one of the poorest countries in Africa, and their hardship is even about to get worse since all the countries that offer them aids are turning their back on them.
The coupists really have nothing to offer. A democratically elected government would have been able to ease their hardship. The coupist instead would multiply it in several folds. BUT my simple friend, Nigerians are also suffering from the removal of 'subsidy', |

One thing is certain, you can't run economy with propaganda. All the Euphoria surrounding him will disappear within two years and people will see him for the empty brain that he is. The truth is in majority of African countries (especially West Africa) the ruling class have become so intertwined that there is zero checks and balances, the military has become the opposition they fear |

nairalanda1: I stopped listening when the guy stated that 'NNPC had not paid subsidy to anybody'
That made me know that the argument was going to be flawed from the word go.
From 2016, what was happening....was that NNPC was
1.Made the sole importer of fuel
2.Had to import fuel at the landing price X
3.And then sell to depots at the price Y which was below price X.
4. As a result, NNPC was running at a loss, and NNPC was as a result being paid a subsidy to not run at a loss.
Marketers on the other hand were allowed to buy petrol at price A from depots and sell at price B, which was higher than price A and set by the government.
I know people want petrol prices to fall down again, but the argument being used is poor. Marketers were not being paid subsidy from 2016 by government or NNPC, because NNPC was itself subsidising fuel on behalf of the government, and being paid a subsidy not to collapse.
(I do not work for NNPC, or the government, and have supported subsidy removal since 2012. I also do not like APC, PDP, or LP and wish they all got voted out for Nigeria's benefit). This is the lie they have been telling the uninformed citizens! NNPC gives these companies crude oil and they in return send back petrol, kerosine and diesel while they keep the rest of the resources gotten from crude oil. NNPC doesn't pay a dime to bring the processed fuel into Nigeria! It's all in the terms of agreement, Of course no one tells u Nigeria has some of the most preferred crude oil in the world! Don't believe the scam! |
Politics › Re: United States Of America That Nigeria Sell Fuel To Have More Than 100 Refineries by StaffofOrayan(m): 9:03pm On Jul 25, 2023 |
Rostikol: ONLY IGNORANCE CAN MAKE A PERSON COMPARE NIGERIA TO AMERICA.
THE US ANNUAL BUDGET IS 8 TRILLION DOLLARS.
NIGERIA’S IS 40 BILLION DOLLARS.
SO YOU MUST BE CRAZY TO DRAW ANY SORT OF COMPARISON BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.
AMERICA CAN BUILD 100 REFINERIES IN A YEAR WITHOUT NOTICING THAT MONEY WAS SPENT! The fact still remains: Nigeria as an oil producing country has no single working refinery, the removal of 'subsidy' simply means the citizen must pay to continue this gross maddness! If Nigeria could produce billions of $ for dangotes refinery then ur point above holds no water Would you act surprised if these "marketers" that have been paying themselves trillions of Naira are ALL POLITICIANS |
