I wonder who will implement this policy on the various expressways in Abuja and its environs where we are subjected to gridlocks every Friday during Juma'at prayers. |

BlindAngel: Good afternoon Nairalanders, my wife gave birth last week which was Saturday July 13th, that day was also my birthday, she gave birth through CS, this is our first child, and it's a boy.
This week Saturday is our baby's naming ceremony but my wife is insisting that her pastor must be the one officiate the naming the child, we've been disagreeing over this for some couple of days now,
she has called me all sorts of names, insulted me that I'm a very wicked man that I have no conscience, that after she pain and tearing she went through and still going through, I can't make this as a sacrifice for her, that I choose my family over her. She said so because my family also insist too that the naming must be done by our pastor.
But she's keying on the fact that she won't agree for the naming to be done in my church that it must be done by her pastor, she has cried and insulted me regarding this. Yesterday when we were arguing about this same particular issue she starting crying endlessly and calling me a wicked man.
I have finally agreed for her to use her pastor to do the naming, although I don't know her pastor and haven't seen him before, but I only agreed because of the CS operation she did while giving birth, her endless crying might affect her, if not there's absolutely no way possible I'd have agreed.
I must say that she doesn't know the repercussions of what sha has done by challenging my authority and always wanting to have her way with tears all the time. But time sha tell, I'm in so much rage right now, and I'm trying my possible best to control myself and not to loose my anger over this. Which one is her pastor, my pastor? Never make the mistake of not attending the same church with your family and having a single pastor that serves as your spiritual head! |

beardedboy: Unfortunately, this rubbish is in every nook and cranny of the Nigerian society.
Artisans dare not do a job for anyone at a price lesser than what "the association" stipulates. Else, heavy fine awaits you.
I remember in my final year. Student union went to connive with our lecturers not to allow us write exams until we pay SUG due. Money that they were looting and spending on smoking, clubbing and alcohol.
What's worse is that these associations have no benefit that their members (especially the weak and younger ones) enjoy from them. For example, despite paying huge dues to NURTW, their leaders won't ever support them when they're harassed by the police. Instead they'll blame them and ask them to "settle" the officers.
That said, this doesn't mean absolve our political leaders of their crime in looting us. It only shows that corruption and wickedness have been institutionalized in our society.
Tomorrow now, these wicked market women will give someone a Congo of garri and people will be hailing them, not knowing that they're only spending 0.01% of their loot. The SUG president who tried it in our time was taught the lesson of his life. |

LordBiden: You mean the staged assassination attempt? How do you stage a shot to the ear from a distance the length of a football field? Most assassinations of political leaders have been from close range pistol shots...Yitzhak Rabin, the Russian foreign minister to Turkey, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi (suicide bomb), Abraham Lincoln, Robert Kennedy, etc. Every sniper-induced assassination of a world leader in modern times (JFK in 1963 and Serbian PM Zoran Dindic in 2023) was successful. How many times do you hear of a "staged assassination" from a sniper rifle targeted at nearly 200 yards? Do you know what is involved in a sniper shot in terms of calculating wind speed, wind direction, shooting angle, direction of target to be acquired, temperature, humidity, weight of the projectile, intervening obstacles, etc? What is the probability of having to factor in all these and pick out just the ear lobe vs a facial/head shot in a so-called staged assassination? |

Oyerinde16: Dryer to dry maize, you don't like fryer... You are funny... If you know small or large scale farming, you will know that the way you stack maize, rain cannot spoil it... Even inside rain you can still trash it and later dry it on big spread trampolines in open fields.... See, the farmer is a learner, he messed up his investment... He would have asked professional farmers like us... But you say we are internet farmers . I agree with you on the bolded. We had to do this last year. |
Agriculture › Re: Farmers, How Are You Selling Your Maize? by stagger: 7:58pm On Jul 13, 2024 |
Oyerinde16: Oga rest, there is absolutely no economics in drying maize ok, at harvest you stack the maize standing for about a week or two on the farm, after than old women or kids she'll the maize in bags, if you can, you get a maize trashing machine that trash the maize, you then proceed to bagging, transportation to store or ware houses...
There is nothing difficult there...
I can't keep arguing with you abeg... Do you know how many hectare is the farm in pictures attached... You cannot trek it... Oga, now you are talking. Only a farm as large as 10 hectares and above can benefit from drying due to economy of scale. You can't expect a 1 hectare or 2 hectare farm with maximum yield of 3 tons per hectare to achieve profitability. In Nasarawa, tractor work per hectare is 60k. Sometimes you wait after booking for days before they come. Urea is 42000 a bag. NPK is 36000. How much to rent and transport thresher? How does anyone farming OP's farm size make money selling dried corn on a rain-fed farm? Not possible. BTW, I farm maize for my poultry. Been at it 10 years now. |

Oyerinde16: If I have manages 100 hectare of farm land, planting beans soya beans maize etc, if I have done deals with floor mills of Ibadan, Olam farm in Kaduna and countless food processing companies , and you say I am internet farmer, then I rest my case... I have solicited and gotten countless farm partnership deals worth over 10 million even on this Nairaland in the past, and you call me internet farmer... I gave his the best advice for even large scale farming, you farm, harvest, dry it, pack and bag it then store it... During harvest, prices of commodities drop cos of excess commodities in the market, but after about 2-3-4 months the prices begin to go up, then and only then can you make good gain... If this op, said this is what he wanted to do, I would have bought everything on his farm. How does he sell to agbado roasters and wants to sell one for 120, how much is roasted corn, they sometimes sell 100 or two 100...
Oga you need to apologize and retract that your statement abeg... Oga, i put it to you squarely that you don't know the economics of drying maize for sale. Roasted corn is N200 in Abuja. Some areas even sell N250 and N300 per cob for boiled and roasted corn. You asked him to dry the corn. Do you know the economics from ploughing to harvest, the yield pee hectare, and cost of shelling, winnowing, drying, bagging and storage with regards to his location? If you do, prove it with figures. Let's do the Maths. |

What about you jare? 1982. Fokker F-28 Aircraft belonging to Nigeria Airways. Flying from Enugu to Calabar with my parents. Plane ran into bad weather and had to be diverted to Lagos after several failed attempts at landing. At the time, there was no MM2 Terminal. It was just the old General Aviation Terminal at the time. That same aircraft later went down in November 1983 in a crash close to the Enugu Airport on a flight from Lagos, killing 53 passengers. That plane was only 8 years old at the time, showing that Nigeria Airways at the time had capacity to buy new aircraft. The Fokker aircraft I was to learn many years later, had some safety issues when exposed to wet weather conditions and was eventually withdrawn from civilian aviation. |

What is the point being in debt, with jobless souls that are hungry and then try to build a super alternative route to one random rural state like sokoto or kebbi?
This is how our debt keeps pilling up. We build project for the sake of looting returns and real estate appeal. A superhighway does not pass through towns so the transit time is cut. The roads can be built with borrowed funds and tolled. Only transporters ply such roads daily and they cdn pass on costs to consumers. Such toll costs are minimal per head. Any developed country has roads which are tolled. |
