What's my story? I was one of those who got hold of the new notes in January when traders all around were rejecting them. I have twice used POS to get 20k of the new notes and paid a premium for them. From the experience of my family in 1984, I knew there would be trouble down the road. But even I underestimated the extent of the chaos.
I have been moving around with N8k of this money for 2 weeks now, depending on transfers and POS payments. I am afraid to spend any of the new money I have because the crowds at the banks are getting larger. Even my connect POS agent no longer has access to the notes and has closed shop for a week now.
My worry is not the present. We do not know what these elections will bring. The signs of a chaotic election are already in the air. How can INEC be crying for money with mere days to go? Nigerians are at their wits end. No money, no food, and daily life has been upended for millions. People are emotionally charged.
If this situation continues for the next 6 months, how many of us are prepared enough to survive it? |

onegig: A lot of you just talk blindly without the context of reality just like your bald CBN governor and wool in the ear Buhari.
He has warehouse that sells flour. They make 1billion naira in sales monthly . That's average of 33million naira daily and most of these sales are in cash. How do you want such a person to transition into a cashless banking service within 2 months when their customers are largely cash based . Also a lot of their customers would likely be cross border buyers from Niger, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso who bring in CFA to exchange to naira cash before making purchases. You think such models can be processed overnight?
To Emefiele fans and his minions thinking this solves vote buying...
When Emefiele grinds all businesses down to their grounds because of some shortsighted policies a lot you would be the ones to bear the brunt. There's a difference between supporting a policy and having commonsense and logic to understand the ramifications of a policy. You can't rail road people to perform a business in a way when the infrastructure isn't there.
A friend has sent in money to my GTB since 12pm Nigerian time. It is 11pm now and same funds has not reflected and she has been debited by her bank. Imagine how that hampers millions of businesses when we don't have the infrastructure to run such?
Banks don't just upgrade servers overnight to cope with x3 volume of requests. It takes meticulous planning and scaling up. A server built with a max thoroughput of 1million API calls would break down with 2million requests. It's common sense You are the only one who is thinking straight and knows what the whole game is all about. I was in Ghana in 2019 and needed to buy Ghana cedis. I did not want to change more of my USD. The guy there told me to bring my Naira and I changed N200,000 for Ghana cedis instanta. People do not know how much the Naira is used for transactions across West Africa and many of these are cash-based transactions. It takes months of planning and implementation to upgrade e-banking platforms. Coupled with the hefty brain drain that has hit the banking IT sector, and we can see the end result. The entire policy is not about just going cashless or stopping vote-buying. This is all part of a global transition of money control and money creation from the commercial banks to the central banks, with the CBDCs eventually becoming the sole means of transactions. It is all about control and is a globalist agenda. |

There are laws against being in possession of such a firearm for whatever purpose. It is also highly unprofessional for a policeman on duty to hand over his rifle to a civilian for any reason. These laws are in place to protect the populace. The reason why Oscar Pistorius had his original sentence increased is because there had been at least two instances of careless use of his firearms in public in the past.
I do not know what kind of unnecessary theatrics on the pulpit would have warranted such an action. Pastors should lead by example and follow the laws of the land. |

Abeg only a terrible person will believe the bible and still be able to live such a selfish life. Every man is created with a responsibility to his own self, his family (nuclear and extended), and in future, his wife and children. People should take responsibility for their own lives and stop living to depend on handouts. Most Nigerians I know will rather prefer to be given money and handouts, than to go through the pains of acquiring a skill that will feed them and their generations forever. |

Satan and Yahweh are bestest buddies. The Book of Job has Satan having a pleasant chat with Yahweh, during which they make a bet involving killing people and screwing one guy over. there's no animosity between Yahweh and Satan in the least. They get along just fine.
Moreover, what we learned from the book of Job is that Satan can't do anything without God's explicit permission - God keeps him on a very short leash.
According to the accounts of why David did a census in Samuel and Chronicles, Satan and Yahweh are beyond best buddies. If the angel of the Lord is the Holy Ghost, then Satan is a part of godhead that must be a quadrants, at least. You are an idiot! |

Normally I don't go to church regularly, and when I do, it's mostly crossover night
To cut the long story short, this guy invited me to his church for crossover in which I attended. I kinda like the church programme and I decided that I'm going to start going to church regularly this year. I started sunday service with them since the second sunday of last month
But last sunday, I couldn't find my guy in church, I called him after service and asked why, he simply said he was cashless and he can't come to church without offering, I simply said okay.
Today I chatted him up again, he said it's under maybe, if he will come to church tomorrow because of offering (naira scarcity)
NOW MY QUESTION IS: IS NON PAYMENT OF OFFERING AN ENOUGH REASON TO SKIP CHURCH DUE TO THIS NAIRA SCARCITY?
Kndly push this to front page for more participation He does not love God. If he shows the same attitude to his work, he will be sacked instanta. |

Business › Re: Despite Extension, Nigerians Can’t Withdraw Old, New Notes by stagger: 2:18pm On Feb 02, 2023 |
Most people don't know that banks print digital money. They are only backed up by the cash reserve ratio, which in Nigeria, is 32.5% or thereabout. It means that for every N10million a bank can create digitally through all the digital transaction channels and bank alerts, this are only backed up by N3.25 million. The rest is not backed up by any cash. That is how it is all over the world.
That's why the CBN has had to curtail cash withdrawals across board to prevent a run on the banks. The banks only have one-third of liquid cash to back up all deposits. So when banks say there is no money, there is really no money. Going cashless is the only way to prevent the system from crashing. |
