U no follow zizou? Na em be say u be pikin na. grin

Zizou was the mix of all the best number 10s u can think of. The only number 10 close to zizou's quality was platini
Mitchel platini, the famous No 10... I watched a lot of this man too, he was very very good, I use to have a documentary of him, how he captained the Les blues to the Euros, did he win a euro or lost two finals... I knew johan cruyff or him lost 2 major finals... I remember a French match against germany(it was a 1/4 or a semi match)dunno the event but platini was playing, the German goalkeeper nearly killed a French player, the tackle was terrible... Worse was referee no blow... The striker was through on goal ooo...

But I've always been attracted to very skillful players... Reason why I'm a Neymar fan boy, and I love kalu to pieces...

Besides which time zidane retire self, a lot of people didn't see him much, now that I'm asking... Me inclusive, the best zidane I watched and followed was that head butting world cup, I think 06... I think he retired right after the world cup right?...

I started football proper around that time okocha scored that freekick against Cameroon in 2004, right? I would say I started around 2002 but I remember that Nations cup well, we came third... Osaze was small and fine that time... I remember well well... So when Ronnie came, I watched from the beginning to the end.... Zizou I only watched d end... Hence my decision...

Now I just threw the debate on the floor here with my guys, six of them... Ronaldinho or zidane

Only 1 of them took a zidane while the rest are Ronnie, thing is all of them made reference to that ronaldinho goal against chealsea, his goals, dribbles, skills etc...

One said, "no be only pass zidane fit pass and control ball" what else? Not much goals or assist or dribbles...

Also only the guy who chooses zidane saw the Leverkusen ucl goal... The rest have no idea until I just showed them on YouTube few minutes ago...

I also will choose a ronaldinho over zidane, not cuz he is better, but na him I watch and see often... And on YouTube Ronaldinho FULL everywhere... Pass, dribble, goal, assist, dance, samba, skills, ball jogging, wetin else... Besides I haven't seen one person hate ronaldinho...

Had to come back to this post for the bolded....

That skill invented is called "the Cruyff turn." Copied and used by many star players today. Even Iniesta and Xavi use am tire.
you sabi something, even me dey try use am once in a while for here, works better when defender get momentarily looseguard... I'm Always elated, whenever I successfully manouver the ball...

When the defender is behind you, and you can feel him

1- Just rest your body or preferably, I use my hands and push d defender backward a bit(to generate small space)
2-then act like you was gonna pass to a teammate(if the defender follows your movement)

3- then make a "sharp cut"( inward) that little space is your escape...
Abeg no be say I dey feel myself, but it works sometimes... Not all times..Works better when defender is tired, or sleeping...

If we are to go by watching only Messi's world cup highlights, I am sure the world would find Messi absolutely basic compared to Pele then. Pele's Highlights at World cups gave us great glimpses into the genius of the man while Messi's WC Highlights showed nothing extra special like Pele at all. That is the truth.

Unlike you, I saw beyond Pele's WC Highlights. I saw whole matches of Pele in 1970 thanks to video tapes and saw enough of him at Santos against many clubsides be it South American or European and for Brazil against many international sides thanks to Video clips, football magazone shows, and much more.

For you to say Pele is not half as good only exposes your ignorance the more.
2 or 3 years ago, I remember arguing with some of my hostel boys about Messi and maradona, apparently, most have never watched more than a couple minutes of these oldies clips, I went to school, use d WiFi and downloaded tons of maradona etc...

While watching, I saw a lot of similarities, both argentines, both lefties, both no 10 etc, and it was really really hard for me to say Messi was better than Diego Armando Maradona, azin, is it dribble? Even till now, I think Maradona is the better dribbler, off course Messi Trump's on goal scoring...

Maradona dribbled a "real Madrid" defender and he collided with the post, it was a sorry sight...

He came to Napoli, won the league... Till date we all know how he is treated in Naples... Mexico 86 is one of my favourite tournament, He single handedly killed it... Messi has yet to do all these in the blue and white...

Messi- greatest Barca player, hands down...
Messi greatest player in Argentina? Hot debate... Still hot...
Messi greatest player in History? I don't think so, I think de Lima, many argues Ronaldo...

Cup na cup oooo but considering his status in world Football and the accompanying celebration even when it's not the first time of winning it?

Or is it because he didn't score in the 2017 Victory?

Or is it because he is apparently at the twilight of his Football career?

Or simply to make a case of deucing the comparison with CR7?

I just don't understand because there was no pictures and funfair as we have this year in 2017 despite the Match being played in the same SAUDI ARABIA like in 2018 when BRAZIL won
which Kain mumu cup .be that... So is that suppose to be a consolation for a world cup or Copa America... He has won non, he has never and probably will not win the world cup, maybe a Copa America, who knows, but currently Brazill have the better players nowadays...

Don't let me start on Ronaldo... Fine he is one balon door b Messi, but he has conquered Europe... Messi has never conquered South America, talk less of the world...

Football stardom is all about destiny. Do you know that Christiano RONALDO still relate to his childhood friend-Albert? Such that Cristiano once admits that he owes his lucky break to one of his closest friends,Albert Fantrau. “I have to thank my friend Albert for my success. We played together for a youth club" .

I believe you wouldn't be wondering why NIGERIA or it Players hasn't been so dominant in world Football despite being undisputed at the U 17 level since they have not been lacking in fitness and Tacticality drills from their coaches all along their footballing career

Modified

Left for me, I would even say Neymar is overrated as a football player frankly speaking.

He is not a fit footballer for he is injury prone.

His Natural talent is the only thing that has worked well for him so far in lieu of his predicament
baba Neymar is never overrated...captaining Brazil national team, scoring almost 70 international goals, close to a 100 cap and still just 27, he hasn't really played for almost 2 years now... Infact his last "real match" was for Barca against psg in the ucl, 2 seasons ago, the comeback....

Too many kicks and foul against him are taking it's toll no doubt.... After Ronaldo and Messi, his shoe is the biggest... no defender can hold a 70% fit Neymar... He is just so unlucky.. .

Very nice addition but I do not agree with that assumption.

One thing the current players have is the mad drive for success. These guys train almost round the clock. Look at the speed at which these guys recover from injury and how quickly to learn different systems of play.

When it comes to tricks, these current players like James Rodrigues, Vinicius, Adama Traore, Gabriel Jesus, Sane, Walker (pulled some mad tricks yesterday, I did not know he had them in his locker), Robertson, Lallana, Iwobi and a host of others have the skills. However, during play, they do not have the time on the ball to pull those tricks off.

Watch the last Chelsea and Manchester City game. It got to a point Kovacic was laughing at De Bruyne because every trick De Bruyne had, Kovacic stopped with brilliant positioning and reading of play. Kovacic was on De Bruyne for most part of the game.

The best way to excel in the modern system (which I see getting more intense with time) is with quick thinking and action. Just as we saw with Rodrigo yesterday.

Look at Ndidi of recent. He had to adapt because he was giving the ball away too much. Now he is getting faster with his decisions when he breaks up play or get the ball in tight spaces.

So, Maradona, Pele and Co would find it difficult to cope in this time because of having it difficult to do things with the ball, while the current players will have the tricks and quick decisions.
I observed something yesterday, I was enjoying my ps3 yesterday, but It was very difficult to break down my opponents, most of the time I pass the ball to "neymar" and hope to dribble the whole team... but when I started releasing ball asap, 1,2s, the players were running into spaces and I could finally lob the balls behind the defenders, or a tru ball, I started having some chances of my own...

It might be just a game after all, but the only way you can beat me in ps3 is if you think faster and can score with the few chances you'd get...

I actually do not think Ronaldo de Lima would be that exceptional in this era unless he maintained a high level of fitness and tactical discipline. He was too individualistic as a player which is no-no in this era.

He relied a lot on his on-the-ball skills to triumph. Now it is all about clever use of space and quick use of time. Unless he would have to adjust his playing style.
you are not wrong, fitness is really the main thing actually... A very fit player is preferable to a skillful but less fit player... A fit player is a big plus for the whole team...

I have read for like 10 pages back and here are my submission...

Firstly we should try to be civil in expressing our ideas Biko, the last few days has seen a surge of attack on a particular monika, we should try abeg... If I meet anybody on this thread outside, I will hug the person, I swear.... This place is my number 1 club now...

2- the 2nd issue is about the old gen vs new gen, i have read arguments, seen different views which are all legit, but one thing stands out, and I have seen such occurrence in the larger scheme of things... Nobody mentions Ronaldo de Lima, in all this back and forth comparism... Why? Why? Why? Imo that guy is the greatest player I have seen, and I've watched quite a few players, is it skills? Is it goal scoring, is it what? But nobody mention that Man... Or have you guys forgotten who Ronaldo is, the true Ronaldo... I grew up watching that man...I can't remember how I got the CD, but I have a best of Ronaldo back then, I eat and sleep that CD...He was my idol, he was the perfect striker... For Brazil, for psv,for inter, for Barca, for Madrid... See resume... Pls let's us be guided abeg...

I alsa watched a couple of cruyff and that man was very very very good, highly technical, probably the best technical player I seen, he even invented a particular dribble, I think it was in the Euros, which I adopted and I still use it when I see the opening, it never fails, expecially if the defender is sleeping....

Maybe we should define the best players by their Era's instead... If not where we want put

Zidane
Ronaldinho

P.s my old man also told me Pele played in Nigeria one time like that, I don't know... But I know his favourite player, SEGUN ODEGBAMI... The only clips of him I have watched is the Nations cup in 80's...

I am no big fan of Akpom, but he can sure be an option...

Akpom To Join West Ham in January

According to The Athletic , West Ham are said to have already made contact with Greek side PAOK over a potential deal for front man Chuba Akpom, who started his career at Arsenal.

It is believed the east London club were keen to bring Akpom in last summer, but in the end a deal failed to materialise.

While he was tempted to move in the summer, Akpom first wanted to see if PAOK qualified for the Champions League.

But they failed to make the cut having been dealt a difficult qualifier against last season’s semi-finalists Ajax, who beat them 5-4 on aggregate in two close-run legs.

French outfits Reims and Nice also hold strong interest in the player, while Bundesliga side Cologne are said to be considering a move.

Yet Akpom’s preference is to seal a return to England, meaning West Ham are in the driving seat in the race for his signature once the January transfer window opens.
he can never be an option. .. even an onuachu is currently ahead of him in every department... Forget the guy, maybe England
