Osama bin laden was only a bogeyman he died long before America claimed to kill him. Before 9/11 Prince sang in a music concert that Osama bin laden was getting ready to bomb(CIA bomb the towers)Govts are responsible for terrorist attacks not what they make you believe on media.Same situation in Nigeria with herdsmen saga.It is a means to change society, perception and profer their elite implementatiom of their desired agenda,

Here we go again with the conspiracy theories. You cannot prove a single thing you wrote there but its quite myopic that you believe them.

Now since you said government is responsible for terrorism, tell me why American government will hijack four aeroplanes full of their citizens and crash it into the WTC and Pentagon killing more than three thousand citizens.
Does that make sense to you?

Islam did not do worse than Christianity. Go and read. The casualties of Christians in America and Canada alone outnumbers all victims of Islam from the time of their prophet to this very day of Isis and boko Haram
What Usman Dan Fodio alone did was worse than whatever you are talking about but then I'm arguing with a fooolish boy.

You dont understand how the world works, there is something in the military called clearing.Lets say you are an informant to the military, the military can kill the informant who knows too much about them when they have no use for him any more same with the Elites and the political class.
You saying a different thing entirely and relating it to Osama's case. Osama was a CIA asset quite alright but he wasn't killed because he knew too much, on the contrary he used the too much he knew to destroy America.

And America had to kill him because he attacked them not because he knew to much.

Unfortunately the major sponsors of jihadists today is America,Israel,Britain,Saudi Arabia and The EU.
You are not sure about that. Why would US kill Osama and Israel be fighting different terrorist groups from time immemorial if they are their sponsors?

Reno is foolish for that comparison. So because oyibo used church for bad agenda, we Africans should suffer for it.

Even Islam did worse than the crusaders in the olden days but the difference is that christianity dropped all those things and came out reformed while Islam is still wallowing in violence up till today.

And Reno is here capping trash.

The day I went to one teaching hospital, see crowd that was being attended to by few young doctors.

To see a consultant there sef na war. I had to abandon my file there and find a private hospital.

If this continues, then we are going to wake up one day and find out that our doctors have all left.

Which it cannot do because our revenue is too low , especially from taxes, to provide that kind of things

And note, I am not defending any government. Infact, I don't like this Buhari government for promising diversficaiton and not delivering.

When we tax 30% of the taxable populaiton and when oil revenue is too too low (we need oil at $133 PER BARREL not at the $80 or less it has been since 2014)...we don't have the money to pay for all those stuff

Which is why my argument...which you miss...is simple. increase revenue by

1.Getting the 70% who should be taxed taxed...plus taxing the informal sector more

2.Changing our economy from being dependent on selling oil to being dependent on industries and industries

3.Realising that we cannot get things for cheap.

It is that simple.

Good afternoon.

P.S

I advise you to

1.Read this article by Field Ruwe

2.Also this article by Thomas Friedman

3.Also this article from 2004

And see where we are coming from, where i want our government to go and why it should go that way. And also why we are so broke and why nothiong has changed from PDP to APC..
The bottomline remains that the government can't tax more than they do now because they have nothing to show for the public funds entrusted in their hands.

Revenue is not our problem because the amount of revenue this country has generated could have placed us somewhere better than this but the leaders has stolen a greater percentage of it. What makes you think they wouldn't steal more even if the revenue increases by more than 400%??

Nobody is saying that things should or shouldn't be cheap but things being cheap is relative. What's cheap for someone in Maitama might not be for someone in Ajegunle. But what's the point of hiking the price of services when a greater percentage of the population can't afford it. The purpose of hiking it can't thus be achieved which still boils down to the issue of the government improving the standard of living of the citizens before doing such things.

What I'm saying remains, the government has failed us. It's not about increasing or decreasing revenue(afterall there's the borrowing option). Its about making maximum use of the little you have. Not stealing it for personal use, then waiting for the mega pay.

In Rich countries, you can hardly see their citizens doing menial jobs. Their government provides some services for them free of charge.

My question now is, what is that tangible something that the government of Nigeria has done for its citizens that can warrant them to tax them maximally .

Beancounter94:
In other words you want the government to dash people money....

Or dash people more civil service jobs.....

What we need is to diversify our economy away from oil and into industrial and productive development. Not free money. That free money thing was tried by many a communist nation, and almost all collapsed..the ones that did not went fully or partially capitalist...or just became absolute fascist dictatorships.
Lol your view is quite shallow.

The government should.
1. Provide basic amenities for easy business.
2. Stop paying its workers peanuts (that's how it's done in the United states).
3. Stop embezzling funds mapped out for these.
4. Start paying people unemployment benefits till they are employed (ordinary South Africa does this too).
5. Provide a conducive environment for people to do their business without fear and interference.

This way the standard of living should improve significantly .

And then people like you would expect the Nigerian governemt and people with such poor income to afford us and developed world level of care

Because of our poor income and the corruption we cannot get any better than this for our healthcare system

That is why Nigeria needs side hustle to survive

We are a poor nation. Our budget for health is less than 3billion. We need 20 times that to get proper and free health care. That's why you people should vote for realistic and sensible leaders, not Buhari and company and GEJ and company
Now you are talking, you should have said that the government should up its game and not suggesting that Nigerians should be paying thousands of dollars for health care which is of poor quality even.

How many Nigerians can afford to pay for health care now that it's cheap not to talk of when it is increased to American standard.

The government should put measures to improve the standard of living of the people, only then can the people pay more for services rendered.
HealthRe: Teaching Hospitals’ Debt To Drug Manufacturers Hits ₦30 Billion — PSN by Starcrest1: 11:37am On Jul 29, 2021
Beancounter94:
The elephant in the room is the fact that healthcare prices in Nigeria are kept very very low.

Some people think that our hospitals are expensive. Infact, go and find out how much a caesarean costs in the US, and how much the same proccedure costs in Nigeria and you would know that things are cheap.

Many Nigerian hospitals are broke. They thus use the cash from the drug revolving fund to pay for things not related to drugs. Add the corruption too, and you would see why things are so bad.

The solution is to either allow government hospitals run at a profit, or charge higher taxes. We only tax 30% of the taxable population, and our tax to gdp raito is 6.1%, and oil prices have not passed $100 since 2014.
The problem with people like you is that your thinking is only in one direction.

You are comparing The US with Nigeria in terms of health care costs but you didn't consider the living standards.

Nigerian minimum wage for a 9 - 5 worker = #30,000/month.
US minimum wage for a 9 - 5 worker = $15 × 8 hrs = $120 = #60,000/day.

So you see that the least worker in the US can make in a day what the least worker in Nigeria makes in two months. Yet here you are suggesting they should pay the same thing for health care which is not even of the same quality.

You should be joking.

Thing is HIV is not that easy to catch. Anal sex, uncircumcised males, presence of other STDS, etc are the factors that increase the risk of infection. A man can have unprotected vaginal sex with an infected female and still not get it., if he has high immunity, is circumcised and doesn't practice anal sex. Lastly protection is still the surest.

Here is the source for research on HIV and the likely chances of getting it.

First of all this OP is a fooool for comparing Awka with Ibadan. He should be comparing Ibadan and Onitsha because they are mates. Like he didn't see those pictures of Onitsha before the war.

Secondly Egypt saw civilisation before The US but today can you compare the two?
Ibadan is nothing but a brown roof shithole not fit for human habitation. Even the Awka that saw civilisation long after they did are miles ahead of them now.

OP go and eat your poo soup at Mokola roundabout.

You are right man. Most major markets all over Nigeria are dominated by igbos and they still dominate more than 99% of markets in the east.

Now take a look at this: I know you may be an igbo man but I want you to put tribal sentiment aside an face some reality: would you agree with me that something must be wrong with the psyche of igbo people as a race?

I mean despite all the freedom and economic dominance igbos are enjoying all over Nigeria, for this same people to be shouting that they want freedom from Nigeria as if they were in slavery in the first place really says a lot about the state of the psyche of an igbo man.

What exactly do igbo people want? Well, I believe their insatiable greed and lust for economic and political power and dominance over every other tribe is what has been their undoing. Just my thought.
Have you ever seen me shouting Biafra up and down. To me, Biafra will even restrict the Igbos. Most people shouting Biafra doesn't know that Biafra wouldn't be the end of their problems.
To me Nigeria should be restructured so that the common man can benefit, that way everyone will thrive.

Igbo's are not.only the people doing that kind of business in SW, I don't know about ur state or region.

But I'm 100% sure that in any Town (apart from Lagos) in SW, for every single thing an Igbo man is selling, there are hundreds of Yoruba's doing the same.

BTW, retail business ain't the only business driving economy.

Which region has more in Music than SW?
What about Techs, ITs, Education, Tourism, Art

Are igbos telling me.there into this than SW?
And all these things don't drive the economy than retail business?
Your level of understanding is very poor. All those sectors you mentioned are being controlled by the Igbos in their own region just as the yorubas do in their own region. But you see this commercial sector, Igbos control it in their own region and also other regions, quote me anywhere.

You are saying only Lagos, but you don't know who controls Dugbe market in Ibadan.

Do you know what economy means?

Tell me ur definition of economy and critical sectors!

I guess, education, ITs, tech startups, music, movies, etc ain't part of Critical sectors in Nigeria
So you are waiting for the Igbos to collect other sectors from you people after they don collect the commercial sector abi? You ain't serious.
All the Major markets in Nigeria have Igbos dominating there. The ones in the east is controlled by the Igbos too.
