One of the expert advisers of this movie is an ex Kenya Army Lt. General |
NTSA:Speaking of which, There is a TV Series being released about border patrol unit by Foxton Media. its mostly in Swahili so not meant for international audience, but it looks like its gonna be action packed, atleast based on the trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_it_HUhxBc Foxton Media has unveiled the first trailer for upcoming military drama series Mpakani scheduled to premiere on KBC Channel 1 on Monday, November 28th at 10 PM. |

Kenya QRF under MONUSCO The Force Commander of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO), Lieutenant General Marcos De Sa Affonso Da Costa paid a visit to Kenyan troops deployed under the Force Intervention Brigade in Beni, DRC.

Wuoche:Don't know what happened first, The gentlemans agreement that Rwanda would urge M23 to back down or this shooting incident. Both happened on the same day https://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/tea/news/east-africa/kagame-agrees-to-urge-m23-to-cease-fire-4025594 |
Fynline:Yeah, I noticed that too, My observation is the amour plates are the same standard size, but the fabric used for the vest is very minimal and compact, just enough size to fit the plate for tactical reasons, maybe they intend to be light weight in their areas of operation. |
Tinfoil:We all know that. |

Back in 2012 during OLN when Kenya Airforce KAF used to do conduct sorties and airstrikes almost every month in Somalia, I always used to wonder what they were dropping cause I have never seen an image of an armed f-5 with air to ground capabilities. This years KDF day, KAF f-5 armaments were full on display. (Back in the 70's KAF was really locked and loaded, most of us just never knew this)

Faithful007:EAC regional force has been deployed with with multidimensional mandate that is very categorical, so don't expect to see them jumping into hot fire on day one (unless they get attacked directly) . There are peace talks with all armed groups in DRC that is to happen on the 21st this month in Nairobi. M23 is probably making a move to hold more ground so that they can use it as bargaining chip to get a better deal than other armed groups at the negotiating table. Read this so you understand the regional force's mandate. The commander of the East African Community military force deployed in eastern DR Congo has said political and diplomatic processes are “the first priority” among efforts to pacify the country’s restive region.Maj Gen Jeff Nyagah giving his speech in Goma https://mod.go.ke/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/IMG-20221116-WA0104.jpg So don't expect to see KDF kicking doors until diplomacy fails to work completely. The regional force is not that trigger happy Also happening at the same time, mediation between DRC and Rwanda is going on https://www.newtimes.co.rw/article/2652/news/security/mediation-between-rwanda-dr-congo-on-course-angolan-envoy |
KDF's deployment to DRC will have an air component after all. Cessna caravan with ISR capability will also be deployed together with utility helicopters USD 36.5 Million will be spent for the initial 6 months. If the utility helicopter in question is the Huey II, they are mounted with guns to that will be additional air support https://mod.go.ke/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/4.png

kikuyu1:C'mon, He wasn't that bad. He might have performed poorly on the local scene especially on his 2nd term , but internationally and foreign relations he did a good job for Kenya.. |
Faithful007:Its called "Carot and Stick" thats how And you say Somlaia is not our business, but you don't know how it came to be, you dont know where it all started... You dont know how we tried for years to make things work without getting involved inside Somalia, You dont know the burden of hosting over 1 million refugees and then still get sporadically attacked and your people kidnapped... If anyone has to be in Somalia its Kenya. Not Uganda or Ethiopia or Sierra Leonne or Burundi.. By the time Kenya was sending boots on the ground, majority of Kenyan's were like, 'Finally, the government is doing something' And about the importation of terrorism, lots of Kenyans muslims and converts had already been recruited to fight jihad in Somalia... Its was just a ticking time bomb, had Kenya not invaded Somalia, I'm pretty sure they would have found some other reason to still carry out attacks... I mean the last attack on Hotel Dusit D2, alshabaab claimed it was revenge for Donald trump Moving the US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem, like what the actual Fvck! We would have still been attacked for bieng a popular tourists destination for western countries... And BTW, its not charity we are doing, Kenya has great economic and logistical ambition, and a significant part of those ambitions are dependent of the on a strong and peaceful DRC for supply of raw materials, expanded market for goods and services and a conduit for logistics ..
|
Faithful007:It has been happening already for the past 40 years in DRC incase you have been asleep.... This is a regional led initiative, and if you had cared to read the damn statement you would have seen that all warring parties far and wide, small and large have been invited to the negotiating table to end the hostilities in a political solution once and for all.. There is no, "we don't negociate with terrorist macho matra here" The statement clearly hints that only a political solution will bring permanent peace |
kikuyu1:Maj Gen Jeff Nyaga was then a brigadier when he led KDF Operation Linda Nchi to capture Kismayu. Pic 2,3,4 Here he is back in 2012 working with Ahmed Madobe (now president of Jubaland region in Somalia)

Meanwhile, Former president Kenyatta from South Africa went straight to Burundi to ramp up the political process for DRC.

The President's son is back at it again revealing things not meant for public consumption His father tweeted about ADF terrorists and the son later confirmed M23 to be their friends.

NTSA:I just don't see it happening with this regime and in this looming global economic resession. Remember how during campaigns he (Ruto) criticised Uhuru for putting $50m USD investment in a gun factory so that we dont have to import guns anymore.. At the time Ruto argued that with automation the factory employed about 100 skilled and unskilled and he claimed if instead the money had been invested in a labour intensive venture the same money could have instead employed 1,000s of people... That doesn't sound like someone who is going to put $500 million or more in a major military acquisition. I get the jobs argument but equally important, the gun factory (plus the ammunition factory that we already have) saves us forex exchange, improves logistics and dependability, self reliance and independence etc .. If he couldn't see sense in that how is he going to find sense in a large expensive military acquisition from outside the country... Even a $20m light skin military vehicle assembly plant is looking like a pipe dream with that thinking at the top right now. Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto has criticized the nation’s small arms manufacturing in Ruiru, Kiambu County, claiming it is not economically viable.Anyway, I long for the day to discover I was wrong to assume, maybe now that he sits at the top, the security council would change his mind about certain things. |
Odunayaw:Would have been if I had made fun of them but I didn't, instead I chose to give them the benefit of doubt... Even for Honduras case, I would still giv'em the benefit even though I know nothing about their military... I have seen military preparations on multiple occasions, They never just show up on D Day to perform military dispalys, they practice and practice... 7 days prior to parachuting infront the public, soldiers will be jumping either to the same location (eg stadium) or a nearby field once or twice a day until a day b4 D Day.. For it to go this wrong on D Day its impossible to imagin incompetence so I choose to believe it was extra windy last minute. |
Toju200:@NTSA I still dont get why the airforce was given the cobras instead of the army's 50th calvary, 6 is such a small number to be inducted into the airforce, they would be much more useful to army if they had operational control, If the army had them, they would be in Somali right now |
Lurker4Long:Yeah, I've seen it being corrected on twitter, must have been caught in the hype of the twitterwar that was going on at the time. |
I'm gonna choose to believe that wind patterns changed last minute cause almost all paratroopers missed the landing at Uganda's Independence Celebration 3 days ago.
|
Lurker4Long:Just b4 that, he had threatened to invading Kenya but changed his mind, Don't know about other factors that led to rescinding the decision but one major one that isn't even about military strength - was relevant then and is still very much relevant today... More than 70% of her imports and 95% of her refined oil imports pass through Kenya.
|
Balogunodua:Tanzania took has invested alot more in air defenses |
NTSA:The cartoon illustration summarises it all. Anyway, His father had to step in for his son's rants

Defence Sports Complex at Langata Barracks today. Keep in mind that next Tuesday, he will be handing over power to a person he opposed vehemently. This makes this even even more significant.. A successful and peaceful transition not witnessed in a long time.

Tinfoil:Satellite technology can be used to identify underground water tables in the whole country...This would be a permanent solution for perennial drought. Plus longtime data collected on satellite observations can be used to predict the next drought season, floods and thus plan for what we are going to do to protect wildlife, domestic animals and people... Satellite can also be used for study on how the changes affect the biodiversity overtime.. We would be in a better position to predict when crops need to be planted or not...etc |
Lurker4Long:Africa skipped a number of steps in the technological evolution bcause it was relatively easier to adopt and the govts of the day saw the benefit of using latest technology in uplifting sectors of the economy that were stuck in the past, e.g some of us went from no traditional formal banking system in banking halls or ATM cards for more than 70% of the adult population straight into 21st century revolutionary and better mobile virtual wallets for more than 90% of the population! space research can be the same. In the course of researching how to make Mars habitable we might actually discover ways of reforesting the sahara désert. Plus, I did mention agriculture and defence as part of that.. Dedicated agricultural satelites could help us with smart farming, crop intervention... The horn of Africa right now is facing its worse drought in 40 years yet we still dont have data on long term changes and trends going to the future... We just sitting ducks waiting for someone else provide the data for us to use to predict future meteorological patterns. |
Africa once again is left behind in another frontier... One day we might find ourselves or rather we may find our politicians and their families begging for the few slots reserved for the poor Africans in the red planet after superpowers eventually mess this one up. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-09-01/nasa-moxie-instrument-makes-oxygen-on-mars/101394288 EAC/IGAD, ECOWAS, SADC should each have a well funded R& D facility and owning a few satellites by now for Agriculture, Defence and space exploration. Then one day we combine our efforts through AU for one big mission... The rest of the continents already have a head start. |
