Every medium (Facebook, Twitter, radio, TV, WhatsApp status and others) is always about the news of new cases of infection or death due to corona virus ” The second email reads --- “I want to suggest that ICAN should cancel this diet exam because it will take time for students to heal form the fear of Covid19. For me, I am already feeling empty even though I was very prepared for the exams.” My advice is that we should isolate our mind from negative news, but don’t ignore that fact that this is our current reality and continue to take preventive measures against Covid19. What happened is that the frequent news on covid19 is actually given you negative energy. The negative energy can drain you physically, mentally, make you feel depressed or anxious, and increase your doubts and worries. Excessive exposure to negative energy can even manifest as sadness and illnesses. This is how to isolate your mind from frequent negative news, make sure you have only one source of information on the latest news on Covid19. If you are in different WhatsApp or/and Facebook groups where people keep posting information about the virus, you either exit or mute the group now. Stop discussing about coronavirus or limit the number of time you discuss it. P.S: Don’t let people and circumstances control your life, affect your moods and state of mind. With the recent global pandemic caused by CoronaVirus, it is of urgent importance that ICAN exam was postponed indefinitely. Thanks to the management of ICAN. While some students are not happy with the postponement, for some, the postponement is a blessing in disguise. If you were not fully prepared for ICAN exams, it is a privilege for you to intensify your study or revision. To build your confidence, keep solving a lot of past questions. If you were already prepared, this is not the time to relax. Whether you study hard or smart, the goal is for you to pass your CITN exams with ease and at one sitting. If you are a working class, this for you. You are too busy to start studying hard; like doing all night study, reading the whole study pack, studying with voluminous textbooks. Hope you are not thinking what I am not thinking ![]() Maybe you are thinking if this is about ‘exam expo’ that is, getting the answers to the questions before the exam date. No at all So how exactly can you study smart for CITN exams? • HAVE A STUDY ROUTINE Most student believe that study routine is boring but research has shown that most successful students have a study routine. You should have an exact set time during the day or at night when you start to study and have specific time you will stop, so that you don’t over do it. Study routine will help not just you but also your friends and family to be aware to not disturb you during that schedule. Make sure that such a schedule is convenient to avoid canceling it. Note that it might not be easy at first, but as you persist, your subconscious mind will get used to that time and your brain will be ready to absorb what you are reading with ease. Just like setting your alarm, after a while you will start to wake up at that specific time even without the alarm. To help you plan your study routine, get 30 Days CITN Exams Success Blueprint Call Starry Gold Academy on 07038174484, 08074460975, 08085378906, 09076786154, , 08023428420, 08123189141,07086810335 • REWARD YOURSELF EVERY TIME YOU COMPLETE YOUR TASKS This sounds funny right? But it surely works. A reward doesn’t need to be big, it can be as simple as eating a snack during a quick break or listening to your favorite song. If you’re already done, take a walk outside or hang out with your friends to de-stress yourself from studying. That way you can have something to look forward to after study. P.S: This strategy works like magic for students who tried it last diet. Join FREE online Telegram class, save yourself the stress of attending physical class. |
What you visualize, eventually becomes. If you cannot see yourself as a success, too bad no one can help you to be a success. Think about this: Everything we do begin as a thought- every action, every word, every human creation exists first in our imagination. The ability to see things before they actually happen is what enables you to pursue and ultimately achieve it. In fact, the better YOU visualize the outcome you want, the better your chances to make it. All you need to be a success is your best. And your best is always within your reach. A lot of people match in to ICAN exam hall and only few smile when ICAN releases the result of that same exam and those are the people who were able to visualize their exam success. Virtualize your success, knowing that you have done your best. Go through the video lecture, two times, attend to the questions in the members area. Attend the telegram class, and the facebook live class. Review your own practice note. This is your best And Visualize it that your best is enough to make you a success. I wish you success in this coming diet exam. I trust you have done your best. You are the BEST. The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining- John F. Kennedy I want to put it differently, the best time to repair a leaking roof is before the rain start to fall. One of the main keys to success is early preparation. You will never go wrong when you start preparing for something early. Many students face the disappointment of failing the exams on their first trial while only a handful get the satisfaction of passing all of the exams on their first attempt. So, how do we ensure a 100% success in the exam on our first sitting in the exams? Well, the answer is to start preparing for it early! Early preparation provides us with some flexibility in our study schedule and allows room for any distraction such as unpredictable events. As humans, we are all prone to procrastination, laziness, distraction, stress and unavoidable family commitments and the list goes on and on. Early preparation allows some room to manage some of these issues. When I was studying for my ATS Exam, I started studying 5 months before the actual exam. Everyone thought that was way too early. However, I knew that there was no harm in starting early and you could never go wrong by doing that. Being a typical student who is subject to distractions and procrastination, I allowed myself to take a one-day break from studying every week to catch up on all of my activities that are not study related. I would study from the beginning to the end of the week and then be lazy for one whole day of every week. Hence, we will look at 3 reasons why you need to prepare early 1. IT GIVES ROOM FOR UNPREDICTABLE EVENT: Apart from the fact that Early preparation helps you guarantee your success in the exam, it also help manage other facets of your life like family commitments, manage stress and overcome procrastination. Just like I did during my time, I was able to manage all my social relationships and study life with minimal hitches because I have enough time. In my next article, I will give you more reasons why you need to prepare early. But for now, stop wasting your time and start investing in your time Start your exam preparation today PS: The fundamental key to success is definitely early preparation. It gives you enough time to cover your bases for the exam properly and boosts your confidence before the exam. It’s a good time to remind ourselves of all the ways we can exercise our independence, especially in our career. Most of us are in need of career happiness and it can only be obtained by creating career independence. Wondering what career independence is all about? Career independence is that state where you have the career control to find your dream job, get the promotion you deserve or to make a career change. You might say this sounds like almost impossible in Nigeria. A friend of mine who worked with the Telecoms (Telecommunication) told me of how he had worked with the three main Telecommunication companies in Nigeria, his service was so needed because of his expertise, the last Telecoms company had to sign an exclusive agreement with him with a huge offer for him not to go back to other Telecoms companies. Today he works in the UK for a Telecommunication firm. I also remember when I was still in paid job, our accountant was so good that the company could not let her go, they had to sign a long term contract with her. She had save the company millions of naira in terms of Tax payment and has brought in more jobs for the company. Sometimes, getting career independence could just be as simple as having enough savings or side hustle such that you are not 100 percent dependent on your monthly salary. If you don’t have side hustle with your work yet, just review all of your expenses, and trim the ones that don’t matter. Financial freedom can actually give you career freedom. It is important that you take a closer reflection at your professional life to achieve career independence, but there is no better time than NOW. P.S: become so indispensable at work by learning new skills, take that course, become a better version of you… AN EXPERT. On this note, I say, Let’s all stay safe and always remember to wash our hands. With Love from Starry Gold Academy. www.starrygoldacademy.com Want to become an EXPERT in your career? This is a continuation from my previous article, read it here…….. 4. Understand your Doubts Sometimes you can get stuck trying to solve part of a question and find it difficult to move on to the next stage. It’s common for many students to skip this question and continue on to the next. You should avoid doing this and instead spend time trying to understand the process of solving the problem. Once you have grasped an understanding of the initial problem, you can use this as a stepping stone to progress to the remainder of the question. Remember: calculation courses require time and patience to master. It is a good idea to study with a friend who you can consult with and bounce ideas off when trying to solve complex problems. 5. Create a Distraction Free Study Environment A proper study environment and a distraction free area could be the determining factor when solving complex equations or problems. Some people belief studying with music can help create a relaxing atmosphere and stimulate the flow of information, you may want to try having suitable background music (just instrumental without the voice) to foster an environment of maximum concentration. 6. Create a Dictionary Some CIS subjects have specific terminology with a lot of vocabulary. I suggest you create Notes with all the concepts, terminology and definitions you need to know. You should include their meanings, some key points and even some sample answers so you can consult them at any time and recap. 7. Apply the calculations to Real World Problems As much as possible, try to apply real-world problems when approaching calculations. Looking for a practical application can help change your perspective and assimilate ideas differently. Budgeting, for example, can be used in everyday life to predict the outcome of spending and determine whether it’s going to be deficit or excess… Oh and don’t forget that it’s also important to have confidence in yourself and face the exam knowing that you have prepared properly! P.S: To crown it up, making use of Starry Gold Academy Video lectures will increase your visualization capacity and the ability to retain and recall what you have learnt. If you don’t have a the video lecture and the revision question and answer yet, Call Starry Gold Academy on 07086810335, 08023428420, 08085378906 OR 08123189141 to get your VIDEO LECTURES NOW. |
It’s never too late to adopt good study habits that will improve your CITN exam success and relieve your exam anxiety. This article is actually based on the questions I received in an article I wrote about the danger of cramming, most CITN students want to know how they can stop the habit of cramming. These are four study strategies that are better than cramming 1. GET ORGANISED A major reason for cramming is poor organization of time. Even though you could be very busy that you seems not to have time for study, That is not a valid excuse if you must pass this diet CITN exam. You need to plan your day and write down what you need to do for each day with time allocated to each task, from work time to every other activity. If you want to make good use of your time, you’ve got to know what’s most important and then give it all you’ve got. -- Lee Iacocca Being organized with your study time helps you to be organized in your thinking. 2. TAKE NOTES WHILE STUDYING Taking notes is important. An active note-taking process is important while studying to help you transfer new information from short-term memory and then recall it more easily after it is stored in the long-term memory. This is because what you have noted is actually a version of your understanding of what you have read, so it is very easy to remember it. At the end of each chapter you have read, write a few bullet points that summarize what you've read and make it personal by reading your summary at least twice. You are responsible for your success or failure this diet……. While not choose SUCCESS NOW I will stop here for now and continue part 2 in my next article. P.S: Success requires deliberate action, sometimes these action might not be convenient or comfortable. I have what you need to help you plan how to finish the syllabus, It is CITN 30 DAYS EXAM SUCCESS BLUEPRINT. In this age of technological advancement, there is a limit to how an auditor can effectively audit IT personnels without CISA. So if all companies want to go the technology way because it increases productivity and profit, then all auditor should be able to audit the technological way too. So for me, I wanted to be able to: Evaluate risk management practices Evaluate the value of the IT control framework . Evaluate IT policies, standards, processes and procedures within the organization. Manage and monitor IT personnel. In order words, I not only wanted to be an auditor but I wanted to be an IT auditor. After I became a member of ISACA, there was an opening at the organization where I worked, the chief auditor resigned. So the directors decided to do an in-house recruitment instead of outsourcing since they knew some of us where chartered. At the interview, I presented to the board how I was going to establish audit controls within the organization I also pointed out to them some leakages and the sources of those leakages, I presented some technology controls which I suggested were to be adopted in the IT department of our organization in order to curtail some of the excesses. By the time I finished the presentation, they told me right there that I had the job even though they interviewed the others. That was how I became the Chief auditor of my company which more than tripled my income. I am Abolore Abifarin, I belong to ISACA and thanks to Starry Gold Academy, they made CISA very easy for me. Cramming for exams like CITN exams won’t help you learn deeply. You will have forgotten most of what you crammed within a week. Research shows we overestimate our ability to remember information and underestimate the importance of actively studying. We underestimate our need to learn and relearn information to be able to recall it when we need it. As an article put it, cramming is like jam-packing your brain, Hurriedly jam-packing your brain is similar to speed-packing a cheap suitcase, it holds its new load for a while, then most everything falls out. If you’re feeling anxious, it might be better to put the books down and not attempt to cram. Cramming can clog working memory and that can result in ‘brain overload’, making you feel overwhelmed. Information is more likely to be retained by your brain if you put it in there slowly over time. Cramming is not the best to pass CITN exam, though it’s often hard to break this bad habit. Take some time to think about what it is that you find unpleasant about studying. Think about what you could do to motivate you to study. Finally, adopt effective learning strategies. Create explanations for what you learn, rather than just passively absorbing them. We have developed an effective learning strategy that guarantee your success for CITN exams, It is called 30 Days CITN Exam Success Blueprint, It is FREE, kindly request for it; Call Starry Gold Academy on 08074460975, 08085378906, 09076786154, 07038174484, 08023428420, 08123189141,07086810335 P.S Getting over cramming isn’t easy. 1. Practice, Practice & More Practice It is impossible to study calculation subjects properly by just reading and listening. To study calculation courses, you have to roll up your sleeves and actually solve some problems. The more you practice answering the calculation problems, the better. Each problem has its own characteristics and it’s important to have solved it in numerous ways before tackling the exam. There is no escaping this reality, to do well in a calculation exam, you need to have solved a LOT of problems beforehand. 2. Review Errors When you’re practicing with the problems (questions), it’s important to – Work Through the Process for each Solution. If you have made any mistakes, you should review them and understand where your problem-solving skills let you down. Understanding how you approached the problem and where you went wrong is a great way of becoming stronger and avoiding the same mistakes in the future. 3. Master the Key Concepts Do not try to memorize the processes. This is counter-productive. It is much better and rewarding in the long-run to focus on understanding the process and logic that is involved. This will help you understand how you should approach such problems in the future. Remember that calculation subject is SEQUENTIAL, so it’s important to have a firm understanding of the key concepts that forms the basis for a topic before moving on to work on a more complex solutions which are based on understanding the basics. Mastery in any career is better achieved if we start early stage in life, ICAN exam is no exception to this rule, the FOUNDATION of being a Chartered Accountant. is better and quicker to achieve with ATS as foundation. Few years ago Olajuwon Ezekiel, 21 years old, graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88 from the Landmark University Omu Aran Kwara State and same year became a certified member of both Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Thus, Ezekiel, a graduate of Accounting and Finance emerged the university’s valedictorian at the 2017 convocation. Olajuwon who hails from Osun State explains his road to academic success. He said when he was in secondary school, he found it difficult to choose between Commercial Class and Sciences. According to him, while his father preferred sciences because of his desire for him to become a medical doctor, Ezekiel had interest in business line. Though his father had flare for sciences, Ezekiel disclosed that he never forced him to read sciences, but encouraged him to do commercial course. Today, I’m grateful I did not regret that decision,’’ he said. Stressing the extent to which Accounting appeals to him, he noted that Accounting is a course he loves , adding that Accounting is seen as a language in business. He, pointed out that in future, he hopes to acquire knowledge in other areas relevant to business such as Business Law. Asked how he coped with combining school and professional exams, he said: ‘’It’s all about setting ones’ priority right! For instance, since my 100-Level I got engaged in professional exams. I started from Accounting Technicians Scheme West Africa (ATS), then to ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria) and then ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Really, it was demanding; but if you love what you do, it is all about- this is what I want to do and I must give my best to it.” But don’t you think that combining ATS exams and academy work with be stressful for student? Last diet, one of my students had this issue- overconfidence. Tobi last diet, finished the syllabus and solved enough ICAN past questions and was ready to attack ICAN from anywhere ICAN chose to pick questions from. He did not know that he could fail that course. Tobi had four courses left in Skills level. He prepared well for two courses and the other two courses, he did not prepare well for it. In the exam hall, after attempting the two papers he did not prepare well for, he did a re-check to see any aspect that had errors and corrected it. But for the other courses, he was too sure, So he felt reviewing the work was not necessary because he was so certain of what he wrote. See some disadvantage here: 1. Overconfidence makes you to rate your competence too high and makes you enter into situations that are beyond your controls. At the end of the day, there will be a disconnection between what you think you know (perceived ability) and what you actually know (reality). 2. It will allow you to start having some thoughts that are not reasonable which eventually leads to failure. 3. Overconfidence will not allow you to do proper findings on the area of your weakness. 4. It will make you to be intolerant, you will be so full of yourself, you won’t want to hear other’s opinions When ICAN result was released, Tobi with his confidence went to check his result. Tobi was surprised at the outcome, He passed the two courses he thought he did not prepare well for. And failed the other two courses he thought was a concluded matter. He felt disappointed, and was curious about what happened. My question to him was, “Did you review your work before submitting?” Sometimes, over-confidence will make you not to review questions properly before giving solutions, and you’ll end mixing things up- giving the right answer to the wrong question and this will lead to failure. However, it is not an excuse for lack of confident in yourself. Believing in your self will come when you are sure to have done your best by solving past questions in the Member’s area, covering the video lecture at least two times, attending the telegram class and participated. I trust you will put in your best into this ICAN March diet exam and make sure you understand the question before giving solution…. YOU ARE THE BEST… P.S: “When you get overconfident, that's when something snaps up and bites you” ~Neil Armstrong |
Put a smile on your face and say “I’ve come too far to give up” When there is life, there is hope!!! The story of Mr Eze is what inspired this article you are reading, see details below: At the beginning of last two month (December), I reviewed all my goals for the new year and realized that even though I have not achieved as much as I stated in my last new year resolution, yet I’m grateful. Out of the 7 goals I planned to achieve last year, I have only achieved 1 and I failed at the remaining 6. Initially I so was discouraged, but I decided to look inward and learn from my mistakes. So, I listed all the things that I have failed at last year, reviewed what went wrong and mapped out the possible solutions. I decided to work on my failures by trying to achieve one more goal and just in the space of one month (January) I was able to achieve the goal. For the month of Feburary, I have decided to achieve one more goal. You too can still pick yourself up, learn from your failure and move on, since the year is still fresh. Go ahead and try something new…….. Your success might depend on this last push. P.S: Go ahead and improve on yourself, try learning new skills, take calculated risk, start that course, write that exam, apply for that job, apply for that promotion. Failure should be seen as a way to become more informed-leading to better decisions for the future. I know you are very busy with work, family and other things, so you don’t really have much time to invest in your CITN exams preparation. You are not alone, most CITN students are experiencing the same, but one thing that will separate successful students from those that will fail is giving CITN exams all it takes because anything worth doing, is worth doing well. It’s not just about how desperate you are to pass CITN exams, it’s about how hard you are willing to work for it out. I remember when I was preparing for a professional exam, I was not given exam leave at work. I had to figure what to do so that I won’t fail because the exam was very expensive. These were the sacrifices I made; • I had to reduce my sleep time to 5 hours per day. • I close early from work, I mean on the exact closing hour by 5pm. • I studied 2 hours before bed time and 2 hours before going to work. • I dedicated all Saturdays and Sundays for study, 8 hours per day. Note that this sacrifice is just for a while, after the exam, you can go back to your normal routine. Hello Friend You checked your calendar or your phone for the date and discovered that It’s just three months left to CIS Exams and then you said, “OOOhhhh! time is too fast these days, abegi! I will start reading by tomorrow“. Tomorrow comes again and you say to yourself again, “Haaaa!!! I don’t know where the time is running to ooo, wooo!!! Let me just start by weekends.” and this continues until exams are knocking on your front door. It might seem funny but we are all guilty of that. You strategize and make plans on how you will effectively study for an exam but still you find yourself doing irrelevant things. According to one of my students, Mercy, who made plans on starting her exams preparations since a month ago but still finds herself doing nothing about it as every day passes by, she just keeps giving herself one excuses after another. And now it’s just three months to the exams. “My fear is that if I continue like this, I will end up not preparing well for this exam due to my procrastinating attitude” Mercy said to me I shared some tips with her so as to help her stay disciplined in preparing for her exams. I would like to share some of the tips with you as well; First, you have to get rid of temptations because Self-discipline becomes very easy when the things or people that distract you are out of sight, out of reach. Make sure before you start studying, your mobiles phones and every other garget are switched off or completely out of site. For some people that put their phones very close to them and have active internet. Immediately they get a notification sound, the urge to reply the message is always there. Therefore, it is advised to put your mobile phones away when studying. And try to get rid of every other temptation too. Secondly, you have to stop the habit of perfect timing. The truth be told, you do not need to wait for a perfect time to start studying for your exams. Use the available time to study for your exams; the available time is the perfect time. Yes, we all want that time when we will be gingered; when our body, spirit, and mind will be synchronized to study. Most times, the so-called ‘perfect timing’ might not show up. Probably until the exam is in a few weeks or it might not even come due to unforeseen circumstances. Therefore, the habit of perfect timing should be stopped instead discipline yourself to read when there is available time. It pays more. We are going to pause here for today, in my next article, I will share with you the reason why it is important to discipline yourself as you start preparing for your CIS exams and give you other tips you need to achieve that. P.S.With self–discipline most, anything is possible. Self–discipline is what separates the winners and the losers. CIS exams is in less than three months to go now, discipline yourself and start your effective preparations now if you have not started. I hope you are not scared seeing this 40 days CITN exam countdown, If you are, sorry it was never meant that way, The countdown is just a reminder that the exam day is closer than you think. According to Lisa Henry, time was meaningless, except each moment was a countdown to the end. Last diet, some students said that they failed because they did not study well and that the exam date caught them unaware, even with the fact that know the exam date. To avoid such issue, this countdown is a reminder for you. If you must pass this diet, then, you should have intensify your preparation by now. Success doesn't just suddenly occur one day. For that matter, neither does failure. Each is a process. Every day of your life is merely preparation for the next-- John C. Maxwell, You might say there is still time to prepare Yes, you are right, But you need to understand that, you were born to win, but to be the winner you were born to be,you have to plan to win and prepare to win. Then and only then can you expect to win.--Zig Ziglar, And also that, Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character. --T. This is a continuation from part 1, see details here A quick recap from the previous article, The STEP 1 on HOW DEAL WITH YOUR DIFFICULT BOSS is to BE PRODUCTIVE. So let’s move to the next step, STEP 2: PAY ATTENTION- Whenever he has something on you, always pay attention to him. I’m not saying that you should listen to every word he says to bring you down, listen to his complains. Pay attention to his intentions- is he a downright psycho or an impressionist or a perfectionist? Does he have a complex (inferiority or superiority)? Or is he being pressured by superiors and is also not organized? If you pay close attention, you’ll be able to decipher. At first, my boss ‘Adolf Hitler’ would yell and yell and I wouldn’t be able to make out any sense of what he said other than words that gets me depressed. But one day, he yelled ‘Do you ever even listen to me at all!’ and as usual, I stood there and then he yelled again ‘Are you deaf?’ I don’t why; I just woke up to the realization that I had never listened to the old man (my boss). He was not yelling because I wasn’t doing my job, he was yelling because I wasn’t doing his job. He wanted me to overlap duties and responsibility, and so if anything that was not supposed to be my official business went wrong, I had to bear the consequences. When I knew this- that he is a perfectionist, I braced up for the task. This is how to pay attention; decide not to listen to the personal impact, (how he’s making you feel incompetent) listen to what he’s saying about professional matters. For instance, ‘You are so dumb, you don’t even know that when writing a report, you have to start from ….’ You don’t listen to the name he called you; you listen to what he said about your report writing. And don’t tell me it is not easy not to listen when someone is bringing you down, I have been there and I can tell you that it is easy especially when you make up your mind that you don’t want to quit. Pay attention to when he is angry, why he is angry, what gets him angry, who gets him angry. Paying attention helps you to identify the source of his problems with you helps you to learn how to deal with it. P.S. Sometimes your job responsibilities determines what you learn next, My old time Chartered Accountant friend Banjo, who is now a fellow was promoted at work and now one of his job responsibilities is to communicate with external auditors and to provide guidance to coworkers and management regarding accounting discrepancies, compliance vulnerabilities and internal controls. Even though he is very proficient with other job responsibilities, he was confused why those two task were added. So he decided to resign so that he won’t disgrace himself and not to disappoint his Boss who thought Banjo was always proficient in any new task he had been given in the past in. Banjo told me about the issue so I advise him to talk to his Boss about it because that role is for an IT Auditor and that he should go for CISA training, he did exactly what I told him. He is now CISA certified and became the first IT Auditor of the company, he participates in projects and assignments that improve internal processes and performances. With his excellent analytical and communication skills, Banjo helped his company accurately document and present data in non-technical terms. Overall, Banjo believes the CISA certification can benefit professionals because it is always being refreshed, reminding professionals that their skills must also keep up with its transforming landscape. He thinks earning the CISA certification is a great way to jump start efforts to help organizations identify technology risk and start a new auditing journey on the right foot. P.S: Why wait for opportunity before you take action? Banjo is just fortunate, else he would have lost his job. We yearn for opportunities, we pray for opportunities and we seek for opportunities. The good news is that we meet opportunities. The bad news is that we miss the opportunities just because we did not prepare ahead. I just can’t pay much attention to others things happening at home and in the office, even in church as I listen to the sermon, my mind was just fixed on ICAN exams. Hello Friend, In the first article, we talked about why it’s important to eliminated the convincing mentality of always thinking we still have enough time left for your preparations And also share a story of one of our students who could not meet up preparing well for the last diet exams because not still having enough time to prepare syndrome. Today, we will be talking about the resulting effect of not starting your CIS exams preparation on time… Like I clearly stated in part one We all know it’s important to start preparing but at the back of our mind we know we have days, weeks and months before sitting in the exam hall. So the spirit of procrastinating will start setting in and our enthusiasm to fully start preparing for the exams to avoid last minute drama will then come to a halt, We start telling and encouraging ourselves not to worry because we are in control of every arrangement and preparations for the exams when in reality we are not As well as wasting what could be constructive study time, evidence suggests that procrastination is unhelpful for a number of reasons. Research from a number of Universities backs up the idea that spacing your study over a longer period gives you better understanding of the subject matter and a better memory retaining capacity of what you have studied. And much more importantly, free you from cramming and intense anxiety resulting from trying to meet up with the exams date In most cases, cramming can lead you to believe you have studied the important thing well and will remember them in the exams hall, But instead in the exams hall,we will start recognizing some fragrance of what we crammed here and there that we can’t constructively and reasonably put together again when the exams question appears in front of us. And then the only thing that will be left of us will be regrets of why we could not start preparing for our exams early enough like the story of the lady in part one. Rushing and struggling in the last minutes to prepare for your exams is less likely to help you remember the important information you will need to write your exams and be successful. So by leaving your study until the last minute, you are likely to feel worse and perform below your real ability! P.S. don’t leave your exams preparations to last minutes to avoid limiting your chances of success the next diet March 2020. We all have days where we don’t feel like studying, we just keep postponing it and sometimes this feeling can last a whole week without studying at all. I can’t forget my experience back then in the university, I felt the course was easy to pass, so I just keep postponing my study time, Before I realized it was a week to exams. I now started marathon studying, Unfortunately I had carry over (failed) in that course. Most times, we normally do not feel like studying until there is an immense pressure of deadlines. By the time the deadline motivation kicks in, we realize that maybe it is too late. Then, we start to panic, start studying hurriedly, skip the topics and grasp nothing properly. Results are severely affected and there is no solid learning. All the precious TIME and MONEY goes down the drain. So, what must you do when you don’t feel like studying? • Starting your study session with very easy or simple topic. This will keep you motivated to continue to study, you can later switch to the exact topics you want to study for the day. • Take short breaks in between your study session to refresh the brain. Do not immerse yourself in study for too long without break, as it can lead to stress and discourage you from continuing to read. • Add excitement or fun to your study time. You can buy your Favorite snacks and drinks to refresh yourself while studying. This will help your brain to link studying and excitement as almost the same thing. Have you wondered why it’s so easy to watch just one more YouTube video, or to scroll through your social media feed just one more time. The reason is because studying over the years our subconscious mind has linked studying to hard work and social media as fun. • Get a study guide that shows you exactly what to study study and how to finish the syllabus within a stipulated time. You can request for the FREE CITN Exams Success Blueprint. Remember that you paid heavily for this CITN exams, why not force yourself to be motivated to study. If you do not assimilate after studying a material, you are not different from that person who didn’t study at all. But because you need to write ATS exam, you might result to cramming which is never the best way to assimilate. You may say but that is how you have been passing your exam. Well, you may think cramming works for you now but it has a devastating effect, especially when you least expected. I remember years back, after cramming for an exam, when I saw the way the questions were ‘twisted’in the exam hall, my brain just went blank. So, let me show you the best way to assimilate more; • SCAN THE MATERIAL FOR KEYWORDS BEFORE STUDYING Before you begin to study, scan the text for keywords. Keywords are words thatappear in a text or written materials frequently. You can check ATS past question to find keywords. Scanning for keywords would help you understand thematerial when you beginto read it properly. In the case where youdon’t understand the keywords based on the information provided in the text, make use of the dictionary or the internet to check its meaning. Understanding keywords help to better digest the material and retain theinformation since you are familiar with the essential words in the text. For each of the ATS courses, list out the keys words and get familiar with them all. By the time you start studying intensively, you will start coming across thesekeys words and they will be automatically registered in your sub-consciousness. You will notice how you can easily remember those keywords when you start answering ATS past questions. Don’t doubt this method of assimilation, why not give it a try today? • TEACH YOURSELF BY READING THE MATERIAL OUT Reading a material out helps you calm down and pay attention to each word in the text. I particularly use this method during my undergraduate days. Reading out the text makes it engaging. Sometimes, I teach myself bystanding in front of the mirror or being alone in a room. Don’t say this sounds like a secondary student’s method, if it’s working for others, why not give it a try now. I will stop here for now and continue in my next article.
