Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.


Are you in doubt of your success in this forthcoming ATS exam? If your answer is yes, I want you to know it’s a normal experience of all; you only need to overcome it before it stops you from achieving your goal.


Self-doubt has a mission, to hold you back and overwhelm you through its persuasive voice. A voice which continues to remind you of your present weakness, limitations and inadequacies.


But let me give you one assurance: Doubt is nothing, and there is no basis for it at all. Now this was what happened to me:

When I was about writing my exam, I was totally in doubt of my success in that exam due to the fact that it was my first time of writing the exam. Whenever doubt flashes through my mind, I became so afraid.

I tried my best to overcome it but to no avail. I then took some drastic steps, and I strongly recommend you do the same.

Guess what happened, as a result of taking those steps, when the result of that exam came out, I cleared my papers.

Karl Augustus Menninger said “Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated
out.”

Confidence is the cure for doubt and fear, and it comes through knowledge and information. Doubts and fears on the other hand are as a result of what you don’t know.

In mine own case, I took the bull by the horn, I studied. You can’t have it any less. So, do the following, and you are guaranteed of victory over any form of fear or doubt, as you get ready for your ATS exam.

How to overcome your doubt and fear

1. Diligently maintain a daily study schedule. Give it a substantial time and don’t compromise it.

2. Surround yourself with motivational tapes and materials instead of materials that feeds your fears and doubts.

3. I always recommend that you look for ways of sharing with colleagues, what you already know about the subject matter. It is the greatest secrete of retaining knowledge.

4. Speak positively to yourself, assure yourself that you are capable of making it and you will.

5. Video lectures have proved to be highly effective in preparing for exams such as the one you are targeting. You’ll do yourself a great favour by getting them for your studies.

6. Last but not the least, think success!! Success!! and success!! all the way.

P.S: Doubt and fear is nothing to stop you, but you must eliminate it by taking certain actions, as Jim Ron said “Inaction breeds doubts and fear, action breeds confidence and courage.

Finally, my friend Musa got the letter

“Your service is no longer required in this organization…” it reads

Musa was the only one in the finance department that was there for 5years without promotion.

He was a chartered accountant and he had a significant

audit experience but for some reasons

based on competence and productivity,

he remained in the same office while his colleagues had moved up or out


At a point, a close colleague who was in the same company

felt that he was being sidelined,

so he used his influence to set up his promotion

to work in the audit department.


After a while, the director who became suspicious

Of the activites of the IT department

and based on the trust he had for Musa because he was a religious person,

the director put him in charge of auditing the IT department.


To start with, Musa was totally confused by

the whole technology but was too shy to admit it.

He decided to do his best, carried out some investigation but

since he knew nothing about software application,

he was not aware that a software had been created

primarily to cause a huge leakage which

was going into the pocket of the top IT personnels.

In the end, he was unable to uncover anything.

There was a limit to what he knew and so

there was a limit to what he could do.


He did his best, uncovered nothing

and declared that the affairs of the IT department was according to standard.


So the director decided to employ an external auditor to check things out for him,

based on recommendation, he employed a CISA certified personnels to do the job.


Amazingly, the auditors were able to uncover the

leakages of the IT department and regained huge sum of money for the company.


Not only that, they presented the company with

a very good disaster recovery strategy and

helped develop a better frame work for IT control.


And so the director had no option but to terminate

the appointment Musa who had declared the department

satisfactory meanwhile a lot of illegal activities was going on there.


You can be a good auditor but you CAN’T be

A VERY GOOD I.T AUDITOR WITHOUT CISA

Here was my routine: wake up, do my work, watch TV, and go to bed.
This was a regular day in my life not long ago.

That wasn’t true, but a lie I was telling myself in order to
remain in my comfort zone that I was.


Occasionally, big ideas on how I can develop myself
and pave way for success will come floating in my head,
but I kept brushing those ideas off because they were outside of
my comfort zone.


Then one day,
I came across a book that gave me what i called; “The Success Principles”.
I learned that if I was ever going to see a change
in my career and life, I had to PUSH OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE.
I had to take the risks that scared me and
FACE MY FEARS heads-on in order to realize
what I was capable of and what I could accomplish.


I now realize that I was stressed about not succeeding,
in large part because
I was unwilling to get uncomfortable.
It was when I realized this and started facing
my fears squarely. I started tackling and doing what I knew
will bring me glory that my life changed tremendously.


I know that the payoff of stepping out of your comfort zone is
worth the initial nervousness that will be whispering,
‘Get out of here and go back to what feels familiar and safe.’
But it’s what you must do,
if you must achieve that career dreams to better your life and that of your family.

Here are few things that may be holding you back from doing something that will bring you glory;

The Feelings of Rejection: Rejection can lead you to feel like you’re not good enough,
since it often leads to criticism, from yourself or someone else.
Use this criticism to learn how you can improve in order to succeed.
Once you know what you have to develop on,
you can work on those areas and try again.
If you keep learning and growing, you will succeed.

For instance, if you sit for an exams and
failed because your performances were low, you could easily feel like
an incompetent person who can’t get what he want,
then you give up, and never attempt the exams again.
Or you can take the failure, learn from it, and come back stronger.
There’s literally nowhere to go but up.
Learn all you can about the exams (or whatever it is you do).
With some practice and persistence, you will eventually pass your exams even better.
A little rejection is inevitable,
but if you’re willing to keep trying, you will see both progress and results.

Fear: Fear holds so many people back in life.
Fear of the outcome, fear of the unknown, fear of not being good enough,
and fear of failing—we go through them all.
You can pile fear on top of fear until eventually you find it easier to just
forget the whole idea and do something that makes you comfortable.
Fear stems from our beliefs about ourselves,
which come from our experiences and feedback
from family and friends. If you have had a negative experience with something,
then you may fear experiencing that negative feeling again.
If you have been told that you can’t do something,
then you might be fearful that you really can’t do it.
You need to remove these limiting beliefs and
push past the fear. You can do this
by using positive affirmations about yourself
and consistently using positive self-talk to boost up your confidence level.
It also helps to surround yourself with people
who believe in you and your abilities and push you forward to face your fears.


Inability: Sometimes we know that we can’t do something,
and sometimes we have tried to do something before and failed.
For instance, if you have never tried swimming before,
taking on the challenge of swimming across a lake may seem unrealistic.
On the other hand, if you have tried to swim across the lake before and failed,
then you may hold the belief that you just can’t do it.


Fortunately for us, inability is something that everyone can push past.
With enough effort, you can learn almost anything you set your mind to.
You just have to find the information or help and start learning and practicing.
You just have to start small and keep going…

Everyone is back to January ‘the longest month of the year’
and everyone is saying ‘no money o’


The ‘no money’ really hits us (parents) the most because
you have to keep the family running and you must

It happened that I went for my senior colleague's 50th birthday,
he introduced me to their only child Ifeanyi.
Ifeanyi is 20 years old, a final year student in the university and
he has just completed his professional level in ICAN.
I was really surprised that at 20 years, Ifeanyi was already Chartered.

So eventually I started ICAN after I finished the university and
because of my busy schedule, I struggled with passing ICAN exam
because I didn't have time to attend lectures.


When I started working, it was difficult for me to write
ICAN exams due to the nature of my job, I was
always very busy even on weekends, so I could not attend classes.


I had to force myself to write ICAN exams because
when had a new CEO, everything changed suddenly;
I felt humiliated, the junior staffs were all promoted
ahead of me and one of them was made the head of the department.
The company also came up with the policy that
it is compulsory for all Accountants to be Chartered.

I am not writing this in regret, but for all parents to learn how

There are still people like one of my senior colleague, in organizations.
Last year, she- Mrs Jidenna-was able to save our company

I had quit ICAN for more than 9 years now.
Since I am a civil servant, I decided to write ANAN which I also failed,
so I finally quit writing any professional exam.


But something happened 2 years ago, I got an offer to work to as an
Accountant in a firm and on the final day of screening, I was asked if I had
any professional certificate as an added advantage to my 13 years of
experience as an Accountant?


I was told that they had concluded to

…. I lost the job and I was so devastated because

I have 2 more papers to go for Skill level and I have made up my mind that
even if village people reason my matter, I will still pass,
this is not a prayer but my present level of confidence,
so I have decided to prepare for 3 months before the exam.


I don’t mind if I write one paper per diet just for me to pass,
if this is my own secret to become a Chartered Accountant, that’s fine by me.


If you’ve spent most of your life avoiding failure,
it can feel really scary when it finally happens.
Facing your fear however, can be the key to reducing the discomfort.

P.S: The question is, who has never failed before in life? But we must know
how to cope with failure in a healthy way, this will remove the fear of failing and
it will reduce the pain that comes with it, so you can bounce back better than before.

Is it actually possible to start building a career path while you are still in the university?
Considering the academy work load in the University,
it is almost impossible. The number of courses is much,

Recently I met with Tunde; he was a very brilliant mathematics student

and a very good friend of mine back in the secondary school days

We all know it’s important to start preparing but at the back of our mind we know we have days, weeks and months before sitting in the exam hall.

So the spirit of procrastinating will start setting in and our enthusiasm to fully start preparing for the exams to avoid last minute drama will then come to a halt,

We start telling and encouraging ourselves not to worry because we are in control of every arrangement and preparations for the exams when in reality we are not

As well as wasting what could be constructive study time, evidence suggests that procrastination is unhelpful for a number of reasons.

Research from a number of Universities backs up the idea that spacing your study over a longer period gives you better understanding of the subject matter and a better memory retainingcapacity of what you have studied.

And much more importantly, free you from cramming and intense anxiety resulting from trying to meet up with the exams date

In most cases, cramming can lead you to believe you have studied the important thing well and will remember them in the exams hall,

But instead in the exams hall,we will start recognizing some fragrance of what we crammed here and there that we can’t constructively and reasonably put together again when the exams question appears in front of us.

And then the only thing that will be left of us will be regrets of why we could not start preparing for our exams early enough like the story of the lady in part one.

Rushing and struggling in the last minutes to prepare for your exams is less likely to help you remember the important information you will need to write your exams and be successful.

So by leaving your study until the last minute, you are likely to feel worse and perform below your real ability!

It’s almost WAEC season and many students in their final year of
secondary school are busy preparing for the long awaited exams.
I remember dreading WAEC because all my seniors were saying that:

”WAEC is very difficult to pass ooo”

Or

“ Its only God that can make you pass”

According to the bureau of statistic,
in the first week of December 2019,Nigeria Banks have sacked over 2,929 workers.

Jumoke who was one of the workers that was sacked
went on Twitter to lay her outburst.

I also go to work sometimes on Saturday.
But my colleague that was retained has only an edge over me,
sheis the one that handles all our manual excel document,
she analyze and format the data before it is uploaded into the accounting software.

Once it is 5pm, she is on her way home and
had never been to work on Saturday even though
she would be paid bonus if she came.

I still can’t figure out why they should sack me but retained her.

My two children told me their experiences when they wrote their
WAEC exams years back, my first child Bolu, actually wrote WAEC twice before
making all her papers but Dimeji wrote the same exam once.


We learnt from Bolu’s experience , she said that writing WAEC when she
was in SS3 was so demanding, she wrote the exam under intense pressure
because
she was writing the exam for the first time, she was being too careful not to make mistake
and that made her to be very slow during the exams.

• Attempting GCE at SS2 will enable your child to have
the experience that will help him/her to improve. This is a big advantage for your child.



• Attempting GCE at SS2 will increase your child’s chances of gaining admission into the university at a young age.



• Even if you child did not pass GCE at SS2, he/she will be better off than those who did not attempt. Your child chances of passing GCE at SS3 will be high, because he/ she will be exposed to GCE’s standard ahead.



• 60 percent of the questions in WAEC/NECO/GCE exams are from SS1 and SS2 syllabus, so they are still fresh in your head at SS2.



P.S: Don’t let your children stay extra 1 or more year at home in other
to pass SSCE exams, give them an edge by writing GCE before they get to SS3.

The people that win at last are those who don’t
just dream big, who don’t just work hard,

1. Put aside all voluminous text books and ICAN packs, I am not saying they are bad, but remember you are reading to pass not for research.

2. Get the video lectures, make sure you finish it twice before the exams. You can request for the 30 Days ICAN Success Blueprint to help you finish the syllabus in 30 days.


3. Make sure you go through the entire past question and answer at least two times before the exams.

4. Participate in the weekly class on Telegram and always ask questions.


5. If you still have time after going through all that we have said (from no 1 – no 5), then you can go through other textbooks and ICAN packs.
