Hello Friend, In our last article, we discussed on how to discipline yourself in preparing for your CIS exams with some tips to aid you achieve that. Today, we will be looking at why self-discipline is very crucial for your exams preparations. The Merriam-Webster defines self-discipline as the “correction or regulation of oneself for the sake of improvement.” This definition clearly shows the importance of self-discipline. It implies that we have to regulate ourselves or stop ourselves from certain behaviors if we are to improve. Relating this to studying, it clearly means that we have to stop certain things or take up new things while studying so as to get the positive result we want. Self-discipline also helps in increasing your self-esteem because you are now able to achieve the goals you set for yourself. With this, you get a boost in your confidence. Basically, there are four major distractions all professional students are faced with when trying to prepare for an exam. They include; your work, friends, social media, family, and even too much of sleep… Most of which are very important to your individual and family life. But how do you manage some of these very important routines in your life and still discipline yourself enough to adequately prepare for your CIS exams In addition to the tips I gave in the part one of how to discipline yourself for your exams preparations, The next step you need to take is to ensure that you start from small… As the popular saying goes “Do not neglect little beginnings” Self-discipline is not what you are born with. Self-discipline is among the few virtues that you learn until it becomes part of you. Like I mentioned in the first article; why you should stop the habit of perfect timing, you do not really need to wait until when you are fully ready and prepared because that might not happen anytime soon if at all it’s going to happen. Starting small entails that you give yourself a little target at a time and as you accomplish those ones, you increase the task and set higher study goals for yourself. If you continue like this, you will see that self-discipline is not just to study for your exams but applying it to other aspects of your life becomes easier. If you want to be disciplined when reading, try reading for 30 minutes without any form of distraction and with maximum concentration. When you have accomplished that, be happy and commend yourself as you have started climbing the ladder of self-discipline aiming at the top. Lastly, ensure to keep to your study schedules; as much as it is important to plan your daily study routines, it is much more important to keep to the schedule. Don’t plan your reading schedule and tell yourself “I’m not sure I will be able to meet up with my studies today because of …, so let me push it to tomorrow.” As soon as you start making decisions to be skipping your daily reading schedule, your enthusiasm to practice self-discipline for effective study will drop. Before you know it, you will be back to square one where you were before; procrastinating on your exams preparations. If you plan your study schedule, ensure to stick to it on daily basis irrespective of your distractions. But if for inevitable reason you skip a session, try as much as possible to schedule a makeup time for it. That way your level of enthusiasm of self-disciplining yourself will remain intact. And much more importantly, try to acknowledge your victory… When you are able to accomplish a certain task you give to yourself, commend yourself, give yourself smiles, acknowledge yourself. Self-encouragement and commendment helps to tell yourself that you are fit for the task ahead even if they might seem tougher. This is because as you journey through the school of self-discipline, taking cognizance of small victory and acknowledgment is important. P.S: Self-discipline is the key to any given success because it makes every given desired achievement To pass your CIS exams at one sitting , Call Starrygold Academy 09076786154, 09060404765, 08085378906, 08023428420, 07086810335 07038174484, 08074460975, 08123189141. |
When I spoke with Ese in 2017 on the need for his own personal development, he gave a pompous reply “I am now a manager in my company and I’m well paid, with a car and a house. For now I don’t need to learn any other skill for personal development.” That response was awkward but I kept quiet In 2018, new staffs were employed in the company so he called me one day and said, “Rita, there is this young guy we just employed, that guy is very good with IT work ooo, anyway I am still the manager and he is under me.” Not too long afterwards, the MD of the company noticed the great improvement in the organization, so he made an inquiry and was told about the input of that young guy who is good with IT work, which had a positive impact on the company’s income. The MD invited the young man without the manager’s knowledge, his salary was reviewed and was given added responsibility to oversee other departments. The Manager got to know about this and confronted the MD that the young man promotion was too early. By the next month, the MD made the young guy the Branch head- he was placed over ‘Manager’ Ese. If you were Ese what will you do? Every company likes assets and they spot them when they arrive. Be sure to retain your position in your organisation by a continuous personal development. If you are out dated or irrelevant, time will tell and it is either you are replaced or sacked. Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you are meant to be. Here was my routine: wake up, do my work, watch TV, and go to bed. This was a regular day in my life not long ago. It was not too eventful and not challenging, and to be honest, the less challenging it was, the less stress there was for me—at least that was what I thought. I had been working in this small company for a few years, and my income was not up to where I had wanted it to be. In fact, it was pretty far away from the amount I had floating around in my head. But still, I went through the same motions every day and was okay with it. This was because i will resume to work by 9:30am and close by 4:00pm, at times 3:30Pm. And the funny part is that I was always hoping that I will one day reach that amount. I am a big believer in taking action to CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT, and at that point I thought I was taking action. That wasn’t true, but a lie I was telling myself in order to remain in my comfort zone that I was. Occasionally, big ideas on how I can develop myself and pave way for success will come floating in my head, but I kept brushing those ideas off because they were outside of my comfort zone. Then one day, I came across a book that gave me what i called; “The Success Principles”. I learned that if I was ever going to see a change in my career and life, I had to PUSH OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE. I had to take the risks that scared me and FACE MY FEARS heads-on in order to realize what I was capable of and what I could accomplish. I now realize that I was stressed about not succeeding, in large part because I was unwilling to get uncomfortable. It was when I realized this and started facing my fears squarely. I started tackling and doing what I knew will bring me glory that my life changed tremendously. I know that the payoff of stepping out of your comfort zone is worth the initial nervousness that will be whispering, ‘Get out of here and go back to what feels familiar and safe.’ But it’s what you must do, if you must achieve that career dreams to better your life and that of your family. Here are few things that may be holding you back from doing something that will bring you glory; The Feelings of Rejection: Rejection can lead you to feel like you’re not good enough, since it often leads to criticism, from yourself or someone else. Use this criticism to learn how you can improve in order to succeed. Once you know what you have to develop on, you can work on those areas and try again. If you keep learning and growing, you will succeed. For instance, if you sit for an exams and failed because your performances were low, you could easily feel like an incompetent person who can’t get what he want, then you give up, and never attempt the exams again. Or you can take the failure, learn from it, and come back stronger. There’s literally nowhere to go but up. Learn all you can about the exams (or whatever it is you do). With some practice and persistence, you will eventually pass your exams even better. A little rejection is inevitable, but if you’re willing to keep trying, you will see both progress and results. Fear: Fear holds so many people back in life. Fear of the outcome, fear of the unknown, fear of not being good enough, and fear of failing—we go through them all. You can pile fear on top of fear until eventually you find it easier to just forget the whole idea and do something that makes you comfortable. Fear stems from our beliefs about ourselves, which come from our experiences and feedback from family and friends. If you have had a negative experience with something, then you may fear experiencing that negative feeling again. If you have been told that you can’t do something, then you might be fearful that you really can’t do it. You need to remove these limiting beliefs and push past the fear. You can do this by using positive affirmations about yourself and consistently using positive self-talk to boost up your confidence level. It also helps to surround yourself with people who believe in you and your abilities and push you forward to face your fears. Inability: Sometimes we know that we can’t do something, and sometimes we have tried to do something before and failed. For instance, if you have never tried swimming before, taking on the challenge of swimming across a lake may seem unrealistic. On the other hand, if you have tried to swim across the lake before and failed, then you may hold the belief that you just can’t do it. Fortunately for us, inability is something that everyone can push past. With enough effort, you can learn almost anything you set your mind to. You just have to find the information or help and start learning and practicing. You just have to start small and keep going… If you are writing your CIS exams, the time to start preparing is now to enable you build your confidence towards the exams. When you just look at your child and wonder “why is it that this child so lazy and unmotivated to do anything especially school work?” And this can be very frustrating you just feel that the child is the problem and you focus your energy on that child changing and not what is really causing the problem. if you feel a little bit confuse, let me share a personal story with you When I was younger my mum complained a lot about me being too slow and not smart even at my home chores and my school work She talked about it like I deliberately decided to be slow or not smart This made me feel like she didn’t really care about me even when I know she is my mother I didn’t really feel like changing to be smarter or better, it just made me more stubborn This affected my education till Senior Secondary School, even when I became wiser and knew that it was from a place of love. By then it was a bit late because I had failed a lot and repeated some classes. This got me thinking… Maybe if she had paid attention to the problem and not me, I would be more motivated to change or do better . Also My aunt’s son Seun was very stubborn he didn’t like to read at all. Anytime his mum asked him to read, he would practically hit his leg on the floor and grumbled. When my aunty noticed this she spoke to him calmly to understand what the real problem was and she addressed the reason he was always reluctant to study. With this, he became motivated and was ready to learn because he didn’t feel like he was attacked. As an educationist, I have discovered that the problem with most children and teenager is they feel unmotivated to read. But if you make the problem all about them and not seeking to know the problem and why they act the way they act, they will continue to throw tantrums and be more difficult This is how you can go about it Let your child know that you care about who he or she is as a person Connect with your child over things that interests him or her (this works a lot) and then bring up the conversation about the problem and how you can both find solution to it Discuss their favourite hobbies with them This will help your child to understand that while he or she may be struggling, you’ll be there the entire way. And this feeling will actually motivate your child to do better I their education P S: It very important for you to understand your child and how you can help them to do better in their education and reach their fullest potential. You can also introduce new educational material that will help your child learn faster and easier with the WAEC video lecture. Finally you have reasons to become a Chartered Tax Practitioner, the new financial bill is a door opener to your CITN career. The New Financial Bill has the following strategic objectives: • Promoting fiscal equity. • Reforming domestic tax laws to align with global best practices. • Introducing tax incentives for investments in infrastructure and capital markets. • Supporting MSMEs. • Raising revenues for government. • Quite significantly, the Finance Bill seeks to introduce sweeping changes to the laws covering seven different tax laws. This publication examines the implications of the proposed changes on various sectors. Below are some of the important details in the bill you should know about: • Excess dividend tax to apply only to untaxed distributions other than profits specifically exempted from tax and franked investment income • Small businesses with turnover less than N25m to be exempted from Companies Income Tax • A lower CIT rate of 20% to apply to medium-sized companies with turnover between N25m and N100m • Commencement and cessation rules modified to eliminate overlaps and gaps to avoid double taxation and complication during commencement • Minimum tax provisions amended to 0.5% of turnover and exemption only applies to small companies (less than 25m turnover), so non-resident companies will now pay minimum tax • Insurance companies can now carry forward tax losses indefinitely, deduct reserve for unexpired risks on time apportionment bases while special minimum tax for insurance has been abolished • Bonus of 2% of tax payable (medium-sized companies) and 1% for large companies for early payment of CIT • Introduction of thin capitalization of 30% of EBITDA for interest deductibility. A lot, I mean a lot. 1. Every worker will now pay tax……………. Banks will now request for Tax Identification Number (TIN) before opening bank accounts for individuals, while existing account holders must provide their TIN to continue operating their accounts?..... It means your service is highly needed now. 2. Company must remit their tax before due date …………………. They need a certified Chartered Tax Practitioner to help the do this…. They need you. 3. It happened that I went for my senior colleague's 50th birthday, he introduced me to their only child Ifeanyi. Ifeanyi is 20 years old, a final year student in the university and he has just completed his professional level in ICAN. I was really surprised that at 20 years, Ifeanyi was already Chartered. His father told me that Ifeanyi started his ICAN journey through ATS immediately after he finished secondary school. Ifeanyi's parent were able to guide him through his career journey because they are well informed. My case was different, I became a Chartered Accountant at the age of 36, even though it looks like it was late, well I still thank God for his grace. Maybe if I had a mentor or parent to direct me through my career journey, it wouldn't have been this late. I wrote Jamb the year I finished secondary school but failed, so I had to wait for another year, the next year I passed Jamb but didn't make cut-off for the course I wanted to study, so I had to wait another year again....... How I wish I was informed, I would have started and finish ATS, two years even before I finally gained admission into the university. So eventually I started ICAN after I finished the university and because of my busy schedule, I struggled with passing ICAN exam because I didn't have time to attend lectures. When I started working, it was difficult for me to write ICAN exams due to the nature of my job, I was always very busy even on weekends, so I could not attend classes. I had to force myself to write ICAN exams because when had a new CEO, everything changed suddenly; I felt humiliated, the junior staffs were all promoted ahead of me and one of them was made the head of the department. The company also came up with the policy that it is compulsory for all Accountants to be Chartered. Thanks for Video lectures that is now available, it actually saved me from being sacked. I am not writing this in regret, but for all parents to learn how to guide their kids who has interest in becoming an Accountant to start from ATS immediately after their WAEC. ……. I was talking to a student who showed interest in the Accounting Package for Personal Self Development and according to her, she hasn't gotten it because she was waiting for her friend with whom she agreed to get it together. I asked further because I wondered why she had to wait for her friend before she got herself engaged in Self-Development but she couldn't give a concrete response. I know you might be in a similar situation, where you are waiting on your friend, parent, brothers or sister to take that decision on certain aspect of your life. But the truth is in the journey of life, you are your own driver, if you let others paddle your ship you may never leave the shore and if you eventually leave the shore you will definitely move at their own pace. So take that big decision and stop waiting for others to take it for you. Show them the result of your decision rather than the process. The year is going again, that your friend, brother, sister, husband, mum or dad you're waiting for to approve that decision you're trying take will celebrate you if you eventually succeed but the sad part is they will also criticize you if you fail to take that decision to become better because nobody wants to associate with failure. Being Chartered makes you a better Accountant Yet An investment in the knowledge of the IFRS makes you a different Chartered Accountant. I know what I passed through just to get Chartered So when a friend of mine, Jude told me about IFRS and the fact that I needed an in-depth knowledge, I just waved it off, ‘I cannot come and kill myself’ Years back, I had a serious issue with preparing the company’s financial statements because my superior expressly told me to implement the IFRS So I quickly called my friend to fix it up for me. Jude came to my rescue but billed me for this service. Actually, I was quite reluctant to engage in anything that had to do with another round of studying But when I finally decided to equip myself with the knowledge of IFRS, I was amazed with my discovery The knowledge of IFRS helped me set a standard for preparing financial statements. So whether or not I’m instructed to implement it, I already have a platform that guides me in my job And ever since I’ve had this knowledge, I’ve earned a lot of respect from my superiors because nothing within the radar of my job description passes me unnoticed, as there is a standard and a principle that guides me in performing my duty as a Chartered Accountant. I’ve been Chartered for 22 years now and I can tell for sure that being Chartered is important, but having the knowledge of IFRS is importanter It made me different, it made me consistent, it helped me set standard for my work And when we implemented it, it gave credibility to my company AND more credibility to me too. P.S: The world is already full of geniuses, so striving to be a genius is almost like being one of them. If you want to be outstanding, be different. You can add more to yourself by getting your IFRS Video Tutorial and since no knowledge is wasted, it can only add up to make you better in your Career Need IFRS Video Tutorial? Hello Friend, In the first article, we talked about why it’s important to eliminated the convincing mentality of always thinking we still have enough time left for your preparations And also share a story of one of our students who could not meet up preparing well for the last diet exams because not still having enough time to prepare syndrome. Today, we will be talking about the resulting effect of not starting your CIS exams preparation on time… Like I clearly stated in part one We all know it’s important to start preparing but at the back of our mind we know we have days, weeks and months before sitting in the exam hall. So the spirit of procrastinating will start setting in and our enthusiasm to fully start preparing for the exams to avoid last minute drama will then come to a halt, We start telling and encouraging ourselves not to worry because we are in control of every arrangement and preparations for the exams when in reality we are not As well as wasting what could be constructive study time, evidence suggests that procrastination is unhelpful for a number of reasons. Research from a number of Universities backs up the idea that spacing your study over a longer period gives you better understanding of the subject matter and a better memory retainingcapacity of what you have studied. And much more importantly, free you from cramming and intense anxiety resulting from trying to meet up with the exams date In most cases, cramming can lead you to believe you have studied the important thing well and will remember them in the exams hall, But instead in the exams hall,we will start recognizing some fragrance of what we crammed here and there that we can’t constructively and reasonably put together again when the exams question appears in front of us. Hello Friend, Self-discipline is one of the keys to living to your full potential. If you can be disciplined with your daily actions you can achieve anything that you set your mind to For most of us, self-discipline is a work in progress wrapped in good intentions, procrastination, self-doubt and feelings of the fear of failure. But in reality, it doesn’t have to be. Self-discipline, like everything else- Requires practice. Though not every day will always be perfect, but each day with its failures and small wins, is progress. And that’s what self-discipline is all about. Yes I know our careers and working life is actually a long one and very challenging. It’s always easy for most of us to let it slide past if we find ourselves in a comfortable job and lack the will power to push for more. So many of us set our ambitions aside as long as we can pay the bills and the workday is bearable. The people that win at last are those who don’t just dream big, who don’t just work hard, but who keep in mind a strategy and follow it consistently. Be it trying to develop your career, searching for a better opportunity in your career life, or just going that extra mile in your present position to earn a promotion. This is where I stop for today, Always remember, it is not enough to dream big. It takes a lot more than that and I am willing to share what it takes with you in my next article. I have discovered that most CITN students abandon their CITN exams because that find it difficult to combine working and studying due to their busy work schedule. I know it is never easy because I experienced the same too. Going for lectures on weekend was not convenient for me because that was when I was supposed to be relaxing after the hectic weekly work. If you are in this situation, you are not alone, most CITN students are experiencing the same too. So, does it mean we should neglect our exam and concentrate on our job? or resign from work and finish CITN exams, then find another job? The answer to both questions is capital NO. You need your CITN certificate to get a better job or get promotion and you need the job to sustain yourself, family and even to finance your CITN exams. Wondering how you can eat your cake and also have it? Ok let me show you how. Forget physical lectures and use video lecture. With video lecture you can study at your convenience and finish the syllabus within a stipulated time frame. P.S: While stress yourself with physical class, when you can use video lectures? If it takes 10 hours to finish 150 pages book, it will take just 2 hours to finish the same book in a video format....... Don’t you think you really need CITN video lectures NOW? In the previous article, I gave one question to ask yourself before giving up on your CIS career dreams, so today, I will be giving you three questions to ask yourself before you make that decision of giving up on your CIS career dreams 2. Is the reason I really want to quit pursuing this goal worth it? Often the primary reason to why you want to abandon this project is because you are afraid it will be another wasting of your time and resources all over again. Because you are afraid you are going to fail again But if you don’t keep going, you will never know how far you could have gone And you will miss out on being the person you would have become. 3. Am I acting on impulse or emotion instead of thinking things through? Sometimes our emotions give us hints about what we want and what we should do, But other times, they are just responses to stress, and maybe even indications we are on the right track. If you act on that moment of intense emotion; be it anger, fear, or frustration, You may regret it once the wave has passed. So sit back, take note of what you are feeling Feel it fully, without judging it or yourself. Then act when you have gotten to the other side. Then at least you will know you made the decision in a moment of peace and clarity Which I know definitely would not be you quitting. 4. How much have I already put in? How much have you invested? How much money and time have you devoted to becoming chartered? How many sacrifices have you made? Are you really willing to chalk it all up as a loss Just because you are not feeling confident in your abilities? What about the career opportunities that accompanies it? Are you ready to take that risk to regret later? I guess not… Because as the saying goes; the pain of discipline is always better than the pain of regret. Let me conclude by asking you this question; Assuming your best friend was in your shoes, would you advise him or her to give up because he can’t possibly reach his goals? I also guess not… I guess you would practice your finest motivational speech and help him see what a great potential you see in him or her. Unless you are secretly a “frenemy” who hopes he fails in life The truth is that you would push him to his best… So why not push yourself? It may sound tacky, but you need to be your own best friend, More than anyone one else in the world, Deserve your own believe and motivation. If after asking yourself all these questions and still feel determined about your decision to give up, Then good luck to abandoning your dreams goal of becoming a stockbroker. But if you don’t… If there is some lingering doubt, then keep working towards that dream that you know will elevate your career and give you that self-fulfillment. P.S. Take a different approach if you need to, but whatever you do, don’t give yourself a reason to one day tell yourself, “I quit because it was too challenging for me and scared because I believed it was beyond me. Because you might regret it later in life, and if you’re delaying it, you’ll question yourself why didn’t you do it sooner? You are better off a Chartered Stock-broker. In my first article I talked about how important it is for you to do your findings about the secondary school your child is going to write his or her WAEC before you register your child in that school. The second thing you should also know is that a lot of secondary schools don’t finish the WAEC syllabus because of how voluminous it is. That is why most schools have extra lessons in the evening so as to help students catch up with the WAEC syllabus. Even with this, schools are still struggling to cover the whole syllabus and this will not help to get the students fully equipped or ready for the exam. This is one of the main reasons why some students fail their WAEC exams- because they didn’t have enough time to go through the whole syllabus, not to talk of time to revise. So the solution here, is for you to get educational materials that can help your child cover the WAEC syllabus on time and even have extra time for revision which is the key to retaining information and achieving success in their exam. With the WAEC video lecture, your child will be able to study faster and easier. Research has it that students learn faster and retain more information through video lecture. So instead of your child to spend like 10 hours trying read a textbook, your child can use three hours to listen through that same textbook in a video form. Through this your child will be able to finish his or her syllabus on time and also have extra time for revision which is very crucial to passing the examination at one sitting PS: The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining- According to John F. Kennedy Let me put it differently, the best time to repair a leaking roof is before the rain start to fall. So do your child a favor by preparing him/her for success early enough. In the previous article, I gave you one reason why you need to start early preparation. I told you that it gives room for unpredictable event. Today, I will be sharing the other 2 reasons why you need to start early preparation 2. MAXIMIZE REVISION: A month before the exam, I called for a review of all the important formulas. Doing the ‘Adapt and practice exam questions and answers’ method gave me that much needed review. I was feeling good about the exam when it finally came as I had covered every single topic on the exam thoroughly. I was prepared for whatever outcome may come on the exam day as I had tried my best and had no regrets. As a result, I passed all my papers on my first trial. 3. IT PREVENTS EXAM ANXIETY, HELPS MANAGE TIME AND AVOID THE USUAL ALL-NIGHT: Cramming causes anxiety, which lowers your ability to retain information. By creating a balanced study plan and schedule, you will be able to study each subject in its entirety and ultimately boost your test performance. Almost every professional student pulls an all-night, but it is a bad idea. Associate Professor of Psychology at St. Lawrence University(New York, USA) once said that all-nighters impair reasoning and memory for as long as four days. Sometimes, student that do all night tend to fall seriously ill after the end of the exam. To your Success, STARRY GOLD ACADEMY PS: The fundamental key to success is definitely early preparation. It gives you enough time to cover your bases for the exam properly and boosts your confidence before the exam. One of our student recently asked “what is the magic in passing ICAN exams?” I wanted to tell her that there’s no magic at all but, i sat down and thought about it. What if there is actually a magic you can use to pass one of the toughest exams in Nigeria. So i checked the dictionary for the meaning of magic. According to wikipedia "Magic is an illusion of seemingly impossible feats using natural means." When few student pass and many others fail, it looks like magic to those who fail. So i concluded that there isn't magic to pass ICAN exams but there are certain things you can actually do to join those that pass. Part of this is early preparation, most students wait till few weeks before they start preparing for their exams, putting themselves under intense pressure. Nothing beats early preparation, this gives you time to read, assimilate, understand and remember everything you've read. Reading under pressure stresses your brain and causes exam anxiety. P.S.: Early preparation is the only ICAN magic Want to start your own ICAN preparation NOW too? The WAEC examination is one of the most important exams that will grantee your child stay in the university. Some months back, it was announced that some WAEC results were impounded by the council because they were involved in some sort of examination malpractice about 26 years ago. Now the exam malpractice maybe because the student cheated or because the school has always been involved in examination malpractice which is now known to the examination board. I remembered two years after I wrote my WAEC exams, my cousin also wrote hers but she failed even when she wrote it twice in the same school. Eventually, she passed her WAEC exams after she registered in another school. Later on, we heard of the school’s involvement in exam malpractices over the years which affected the result of students whether the student cheated or not. Now the solution to this is for us as parents to do our findings well before registering your child in a school for the WAEC exam I know you may say that most children write their WAEC in the secondary school they attend. This simply means that you should do your findings from the beginning. This will help you make clear and accurate decision because the whole goal of the secondary School is for your child to pass all the WAEC subject at one sitting and not have to waste an extra year re-writing WAEC. Also in other to prepare your child and not look for ‘special center’ or assist them in cheating, you can help build confidence in them as they sit for their final exams. One way to do that is to get the new educational material that will help your child study easier and faster for the exam. With the WAEC video lecture, your child will be able to study faster, easier and will also retain more of what he or she has studied. P S: Now that you have the knowledge on how your child can succeed in the upcoming exam, it is better to act on it FAST and NOW Expect my second article where I will talk about the second mistake you should avoid. WHY ACCOUNTANTS SHOULD LEARN HOW TO USE SAGE 50 This is not a question of placing the knowledge of SAGE 50 ahead of your OND, B.Sc or being a Chartered Accountant. It is more of you understanding the TOOLS you need to work with as an Accountant, so there is no basis for comparing. My friend’s son, Joshua who just finished his NYSC program, told me that he had gone for more than four different interviews for the post of an Accountant but could not get the jobs because the interviewers always asked if he is proficient in the use of SAGE 50. The last company he went for interview even gave him the opportunity to go and learn SAGE 50 for 3 weeks and come back for practical interview. Joshua asked “I have SSCE, B.Sc and now I’m a Chartered Accountant but why are the companies focusing more on SAGE 50?” My answer was that- SAGE 50 is the application that most companies use for their daily accounting task. SAGE 50 is an application that is used for accounting purposes, so if you must work with those companies, you must learn how to use SAGE 50” Though there are other alternative accounting applications apart from SAGE 50, but since most companies in Nigeria use SAGE 50 accounting application for their accounting task… You just need to follow the trend if you must be relevant as an Accountant. |
If you are in Lagos, it is no news that the Lagos State Government has banned the use of Okada and Keke. this ban has made movement within the state more tedious, How does this affect your preparation for the March diet ICAN exams if you stay in Lagos? I spent close to three hours on a journey of 30 minutes from Egbeda to Ikeja. That’s three hours of wasted time, a time that would have been used to do more productive things. This would be worse on Saturdays because of the different owambes within the Lagos metropolis. Imagine going for your ICAN class and you are stuck in traffic for two, three hours, you would have missed part of the class and even get to the class exhausted. Your concentration level will definitely be on the low because of the stress of staying long in traffic, What about going back home? You have to face the same stress, making you tired and stressed out that you won't even feel like reading and revising And studies has shown that "you only get 50% of what is taught in class but revising it immediately after class increases it to about 70%". So how do you overcome this challenge, as you prepare for the march diet exam? What if I tell you, you can always take your lecturer with you everywhere you go What if I tell you that you can study and pass your ICAN march exams without stepping out of your home. Studying for ICAN exams should be stress-free and that's what I want for you as a professional student. Do you want to find out how to take your lecturer with you everywhere you go? I was surprised when I saw the news on December 4th 2019, the West African Examination Council(WAEC) withdrew some 1992, 1993 candidate examination certificate. Upon reading the news, I discovered that those results were impounded because they were involved in all sorts of examination malpractice. You might want to say it's been 26years ago, yes but this has a lot of other implications. I also read that Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has also identified those candidates and are taking steps to work with the institution they graduated from to denounce their certificate. After reading the news, it got me thinking “this could have happened to me if I was involved in some sort of malpractice.” So, “Can I allow this to happen to my children?" A child who you have celebrated because he/she has written, passed his/her WAEC, passed JAMB, got admission and even graduated, only to realize all those achievements will be withdrawn and reversed because of an action that you could have prevented. Nothing beats peace of mind knowing you got all your achievements without cutting corners to achieve. You can save yourself and your child the stress, trauma, shame and agony that comes with this kind of situation by helping them prepare adequately for their exams. Get them to read, understand and solve enough past questions even before getting to their finals (SS3) in their secondary schools. This cannot be achieved with the school lectures alone, because the truth is "NO SCHOOL" can cover the whole WAEC syllabus before the exams. But I have solution and better option that can help your child prepare, sit and pass his/her WAEC without involving in exam malpractice if well utilized. It is the comprehensive WAEC video lecture on all the subject. The video material cover all the topics from SS1 - SS3 and has about 10years past questions, well solved and explained in details. Science students are also not left out with well solved alternative to practical. Help your child protect and save his/her future by getting them to prepare for their WAEC exams NOW.
