Another resident of Enyimba city, Chief Ken Okeh, who wished Alex Ikwechegh was at the helm of affairs in the state, asked the celebrant not to relent in his efforts in seeing that the less privileged are uplifted. “He’s obviously doing well in uplifting the people. My prayers for him is that may God grant him more wisdom and money to do more. Hopefully, we will have people like him in government some day. On his part, Prof. Cosmos Ndukwe, former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, said; “The grandeur of goodness, monster of benevolence and merchant of let my people CHOP also. You choose this remmarkable day of your life to remmber the downtrodden by offering KERO and FUEL free to people of Enyimba. May God continue to increase your wisdom as you age gracefully.” The Ikwecheghs family is known for benevolent acts especially when it comes to helping the downtrodden, including uplifting the needy and orphans in the society. Their late patriarch, Chief Mascot Ukandu Ikwechegh, is also not left out. Alex Ikwechegh, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia, has always been in the news for the good owing to his benevolence in awarding scholarships and donating freely to orphanages. Alex Ikwechegh Foundation was the first non-governmental organization in the country to visit the woman whose fingers were cut off by Fulani herdsmen in Abia, while generously footing her medical bills. Just recently, Chief Ikwechegh donated huge sum to the family of Chimaobi Nwaogu, who was shot dead by Corporal Ajayi Johnson for allegedly refusing to give N100 bribe at a military checkpoint in the state. ex-Enugu LGA Chair’s 13Yr Old Daughter Declared Kidnapped By Father Found In Boyfriend’s Bed (Video) Mr. Frank Anioma, a resident of Enugu who hides under the guise of ‘insecurity’ to spread fake news aimed at undermining the state government, has been caught right in the act, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV reports that Mr. Anioma, a former council boss, had on August 22, 2019 taken to social media to declare that his daughter (Kosisochukwu) had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the state. “Please friends and good Nigerians help me. My Daughter Kosisochukwu was kidnapped this morning, Thurs 22nd Aug, about 7am on her way to New Heaven Market. Her phone 09027454532 was ringing without response. Now it's ringing line busy. Please help repost this. Who knows, God will show us mercy”, he wrote. This forced operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit of the Enugu State Police Command to swing into action, where it was discovered that she was never kidnapped but with her boyfriend in Owerri, Imo State. One would have expected Anioma to issue a disclaimer after picking his daughter from the park (as instructed by her) and discovering she was not kidnapped, but instead, he deliberately issued a statement that she had been rescued from her imaginative and non-existing abductors. “My people I am so proud of you guys. I love you all (ifedika unu akokwanam). Please join me to thank God. He has done it. Your prayers has been answered. My daughter is alive and she's at home now. I thank you all for your prayers, visits and words of encouragement. May none of you experience such trauma in Jesus name amen. We give God all the praise”, he wrote. But according to Kosisochukwu, she was never kidnapped but traveled to Owerri in Imo State to visit her boyfriend whom she has not seen for a while owing to the prolonged holidays. “I was not abducted nor kidnapped as stated by my father, I went out willingly from the compound. I later called him to come and pick me from the park to take me home because the money I had on me wasn't enough for transport fare,” the 13-year-old SS1 girl told police investigators. Many are wondering what Mr. Anioma planned to achieve with his false information, especially a man with such a pedigree. “Why is he hell-bent at blackmailing the state government?”, asked Ms. Stella Nkem Obi, a resident of Enugu. “The worst of it all is that the same Frank Anioma after knowing the truth that his daughter was not kidnapped but sneaked out of the house to go and see her boyfriend in Owerri, deliberately rushed to the social media to lie again that his daughter has been rescued. See below also. What a mischief! “God will continue to expose those who are bent on sabotaging the existing peace and good governance in Enugu State as well as undermining the tireless efforts of our people's governor to secure our dear state as one of the most peaceful and safest states in Nigeria. We should recall that Rev. Fr. Nnamdi Nwankwo had recently raised the alarm that some people are sabotaging the efforts of Enugu State Governor in securing the state. “For Uncle Frank, you have to tender an unreserved public apology to your family, friends and well-wishers, security agencies, Enugu State government and the entire people of the state, for this heinous embarrassment and expensive fake news. You must also be made to face the wrath of the law for peddling fake news so that others will learn”, she said. “Brothers and sisters, please let's join hands and say No to Fake News in Enugu State and those who are sabotaging the state government. Thank you”, Stella Nkem Obi added. The Enugu State Government has ordered full autopsy on the body of Mrs. Regina Mba, the middle-aged woman who was allegedly killed in Nchatancha area of the state, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV had reported that some hoodlums, on Thursday, reportedly raped and stabbed Mrs Mba to death in cold blood, in Enugu East Local Government Area of the state. This sparked protest as angry residents took to the streets, demanding the immediate sack of the Police Commissioner, Suleiman Balarabe, whom they accused of incompetency and high-handedness. A statement sent to Igbere TV by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, said the autopsy will be carried out by the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane. According to Prof. Ortuanya, the medical exercise which will unravel the cause of death of Mrs Mba, is to assist the security agencies in their ongoing investigations into the incident. Meanwhile, Igbere TV had reported that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, recently, inspected the ongoing demolition of caves and clearing of bushes used as hideouts by criminals operating in the state. This is even as the governor, about two weeks ago, sent the Enugu Anti-kidnapping Bill (2019) to the State Assembly, aimed at employing 1,700 forest guards to ensure maximum security in the state. http://igberetvnews.com/925886/enugu-govt-rders-autopsy-on-mrs-regina-mba-of-nchatancha/

The Abia State Government, on Monday, said it has uncovered plans by some “hoodlums” and “detractors” to disrupt peace in the state by protesting against the government in Abuja, Igbere TV reports. In a statement made available to Igbere TV in Umuahia, Abia State capital, the state government warned that it has alerted relevant security agencies of such move and that those behind the plan risk being arrested. The statement issued by Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, Commissioner for Information, said the government was up-to-date with payment of salaries, warning workers in the state not be used for the planned protest. “Abia State Government wishes to alert members of the public that it has uncovered plots by some detractors to hire hoodlums and disguise them as Abia civil servants for the purposes of staging a protest against Government in Abuja”, he said. “We wish to warn the hoodlums and their sponsors that they risk arrest and prosecution as relevant security agencies in Abuja and Abia State have been alerted to their nefarious plot. “It is important to note that the state government is up to date with the payment of the emoluments of workers in its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as the workers have already received July 2019 salaries and wish to assure that the administration is actively supporting ailing parastatals to clear outstanding emoluments of workers as well as restructure their operations to ensure that workers are paid as and when due”, Okiyi-Kalu added. http://igberetvnews.com/914198/abia-state-govt-uncovers-plan-hoodlums-disrupt-peace/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, on Monday, paid a visit to Senator Ike Ekweremadu at his Abuja residence, Igbere TV reports. The visit comes after Senator Ekweremadu returned to the country from Germany, and barely 48 hours after an assault on him. Igbere TV had reported that Ekweremadu was physically assaulted in Germany, on Saturday, by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The former Deputy Senate President was invited as a guest speaker at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, when the assault took place. Other dignitaries who visited the lawmaker include Senator Chris Ngige, Hon. Nnoli Nnaji, Hon. Kingsley Ebenyi, Senator Gil Nnaji, among others. Meanwhile, Igbere TV had reported that Senator Ike Ekweremadu said he has forgiven his attackers and would not be seeking their punishment. Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on Monday, said he had since forgiven his attackers, accusing them of being drunk and under the influence of hard drugs, Igbere TV reports. In a statement made available to Igbere TV, Ekweremadu who arrived the country today from Germany, said he was unruffled by the attack on him, adding that he had since put the incident behind him. He advised Nigerians and Igbo leaders to feel free to travel to any part of the world they wish, saying the attitude of his attackers did not represent the behaviour of Nigerians in diaspora. Full Statement, “I think they were just people, who were misdirected and misguided. I had the feeling they were under the influence of alcohol. They don’t represent the feelings of our people. There is nothing to worry about. “The organisers, the Igbo in Germany, have written a letter apologising for what happened. Everybody is free to go anywhere because those ones don’t represent the behaviour of Nigerians abroad. “For me, I have moved on. The government and authorities of Germany are free to do whatever they wish about it. “On IPOB and the threats to attack more Igbo leaders, especially the governors of the South East, let me just say that the leaders he (Kanu) was mentioning were responsible for getting him out of jail in the first place. “What we will do in this circumstance is to leave him to his conscience, the verdict of history, and possibly the repercussions of ingratitude. But I hope he won’t go to the extent of attacking any of the South East leaders anywhere. “I have no regrets speaking out for justice for Ndigbo and helping to facilitate Kanu’s release. I believe in justice for all irrespective of tribe, religion or region. “First of all, I am a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. My job is to speak out when there is injustice anywhere. We had problem in the North East. I have visited the North East. I visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps there. I donated money. I sent relief materials. We had problem in the South-South, I visited the creeks and saw the environmental challenges there for myself. “I was one of the few people the late President Musa Yar’Adua consulted before he decided on the issue of amnesty. I was the person, who advised him that he needed to call a meeting of the Council of State. So, he had to invite the then Attorney General to discuss that issue with me and I advised them on the constitutional implications of amnesty. “So, I have always spoken out on matters that concern Nigerians no matter where they come from. I believe in justice for all. It had nothing to do with IPOB.” http://igberetvnews.com/914106/ipob-ive-forgiven-my-attackers-they-were-drunk-ekweremadu/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

The House of Representatives has moved to enact a law that would protect Nigerian politicians whenever they travel abroad, Igbere TV reports. This comes on the heels of the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Germany, by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. Igbere TV had reported that the immediate past Deputy Senate President was petted with eggs by aggrieved members of IPOB at an event in Nuremberg, on Saturday. In a statement made available to Igbere on Sunday, Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, said the attack on Ekweremadu was rather unfortunate. The lawmaker said that there were other civilized ways within a democratic setting to show grievances by any individual or group. He said the House upon resumption from recess in September would thoroughly investigate the case, while calling on the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Yusuf Tugger to probe the attack and bring the perpetrators to book. Full Statement, “I, like most concerned Nigerians and others across the globe, have followed with utmost concern and worry about the treatment that was meted out on Sen. (Dr.) Ike Ekweremadu yesterday in far away Nuremberg, Germany, where he had, on the invitation of his people, gone to attend the Second Igbo Cultural Festival of Iri Ji in that part of Europe as a Distinguished Guest of Honour. “Sen. Ekweremadu, an accomplished scholar in the legal profession and political leader of high standing in society, is one of our longest-serving Senators, who had also in the last twelve years until June this year held sway as the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate. Before joining the Senate, he was also Secretary to the Enugu State Government and had before then served in various capacities in that State. “Given the high personality profile and the public service record which Sen. Ekweremadu parades, it is unthinkable that any individual or group anywhere in the world, let alone his very own people in the Diaspora, who ought to know better, should contemplate and carry out the despicable public act of shame that was brought upon a well-respected national leader of Sen. Ekweremadu’s stature before the glare of the entire global community in Germany. “I, therefore, in very strong terms, condemn in its entirety the action of the group of Igbo people, alleged to be members of the outlawed IPOB, that had attacked Sen.Ike Ekweremadu in Nuremberg, Germany on Saturday, August 17. I also wish to join other Nigerians and leaders to call on the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, H/E Amb.Yusuf Maitama Tugger to make good his promise to investigate and bring to book everyone who was part of that dastardly assault on a serving national leader. “On my part, I promise to lead the House Committee on Foreign Affairs which I currently chair, and, indeed, other Members of the House, who have since yesterday continued to call in to express their indignation against and condemnation of the act, to move a Motion on the floor of the House and to call for broader investigations on the matter with a view to decisively dealing with all those involved and seeking protection for the politically-exposed persons on foreign trips and assignments in foreign jurisdictions. Sanwo-Olu to inaugurate cabinet this week “While conceding that it is the right of any group or individual to protest against a perceived wrong done to them in every democratic set-up, like ours, but it goes without saying that there is a limit to the extent any protest can go. It ceases to be a protest, for instance, when those involved in such a protest begin to make attempts on life or endanger the rights of others to peaceful and lawful assembly as we saw in the case at Nuremberg, Germany. As law-abiding people, we must have recourse to civility and proper ways of doing things at all times.” http://igberetvnews.com/909190/ekweremadu-nass-to-seek-protection-for-politicians-while-abroad/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Sunday, formally claimed responsibility for the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Germany, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV had reported that the immediate past Deputy Senate President was petted with stones by aggrieved members of the IPOB at an event in Germany, on Saturday. The senator was attacked in Nuremberg, where he was attending the New Yam Festival of the Igbo community in that country. Reacting in a statement sent to Igbere TV, IPOB Spokesman, Emma Powerful, said the directive to attack Igbo leaders was given by the leader, Nnamdi Kanu, adding that the attack on Ekweremadu in Germany was in obedience to the order. “Yesterday, being the 17th day of August 2019 the Nuremberg IPOB family in Germany in keeping with the long-standing directive from our leader to hound all instigators of Operation Python Dance, IPOB is glad to report that Ike Ekweremadu was confronted and duly hounded out of a so-called New Yam Festival event in Germany. “Despite repeated warnings to the organisers of these jamborees that Enugu, Ebonyi and other parts of Biafraland is under siege by Fulani caliphate and their collaborators within, they went ahead to invite a known traitor, co-conspirator and one of those that worked with Igbo governors to proscribe and tag IPOB a terror organisation while they never raised any voice against murderous Fulani herdsmen. “This should serve as a warning to Nnia Nwodo, Dave Umahi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Willie Obiano and co that any day we find them in a public event abroad, they will be humiliated. IPOB is strategically located in over 100 countries around the world. Anywhere we find them, they will be dealt with”, the statement partly read. https://igberetvnews.com/ipob-claims-responsibility-for-ekweremadus-attack-justifies-act Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, has condemned the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV had reported that the immediate past Deputy Senate President was petted with stones by aggrieved members of the IPOB at an event in Germany, on Saturday. Ekweremadu was invited to Germany for the Second Annual Cultural Festival of the Ndigbo, alongside the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo. In a statement sent to Igbere TV on Sunday, Chidoka condemned the attack on the Enugu West Senator and demanded for an apology from members of the IPOB. “I demand an apology by perpetrators of this unwarranted attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu. I condemn it.” Chidoka said. He said Ekweremadu never supported the operation python dance and did not participate in the plan for the operation in the south east. “Ekweremadu did not participate in the plan for operation python dance. He opposed it.” Chidoka added. The former Minister revealed also that Ekweremadu had led delegations to President Muhammadu Buhari on the release of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. “Ekweremadu led several delegations to President on release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and spoke out at critical times in support of Igbo causes. He does not deserve this treatment”, Chidoka said. http://igberetvnews.com/908915/attack-on-ekweremadu-apologize-now-former-minister-tells-ipob/

Lagos State Commissioner nominee, Mr Joe Igbokwe, on Friday, declared that he was not an Igbo and should not be called one, Igbere TV reports. Igbere TV reports that Igbokwe made the declaration when he appeared before the Lagos State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation. He rather described himself as a Nigerian, insisting that he does not belong to nor patronize any ethnic group. Igbokwe, who is also the Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, lampooned those he described as ethnic bigots. He blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for the “attitude of Easterners” in Lagos during the last general election. “Lagos should take the lead and be more open to other ethnic groups by giving them political appointments,” he said. “I’m proudly Nigerian; I don’t know about east, west, north or south. I have been in Lagos since 1985. My children were born here. It’s high time we started building this country. “I get angry when people mention ethnicity. A young Nigerian lady was just made a minister in Britain. If I become the president of this country, nobody is going to fill form and put his state of origin. That’s the first thing I will do. It is when you take people for who they are that is when they will release their energy for the good of the country. One day, Nigerians will say, we are all Nigerians. “The reason for the attitude of easterners in Lagos at the last election was because Peter Obi was on the ballot. If Atiku had won, he would be the vice president. “If 70 to 75 per cent of a particular people dominate a region, they should be encouraged. If they don’t get council chairman, at least make them deputy. What Igbo people have in Lagos, they don’t have a quarter of it in their land. If you see anybody that is doing well in the South East, he must have a thriving business in Lagos”, Igbokwe added. http://igberetvnews.com/908880/screening-im-not-igbo-commissioner-nominee-igbokwe-tells-lagos-assembly/ Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

The Board, Executive and members of the Igbo Canadian Community Association (ICCA/Umunna) condemns in the strongest of terms the recent attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by people believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Nuremberg, Germany, describing it as grossly despicable, utterly shameful and a concentrated act of cowardice and show of weakness on members of the IPOB and their handlers. In a statement sent to Igbere TV from Toronto, Canada by the President of the socio-cultural and political group, Chief Ugochukwu Okoro, through the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahaoma Kanu, ICCA/UMUNNA said the actions of IPOB (Germany chapter) is a step taken too far and henceforth will not be tolerated. “It is very shameful that members of the IPOB will brazenly and disrespectfully attack on the Senator and former Deputy Senate President in the manner seen at the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organized by Ndigbo Germany is not only regrettable but a sign of weakness, cowardice and complete manifestation of the disorganization in the group which can only be regarded as an assembly of miscreants and immature attention seekers; this action exposes the leadership vacuum the group suffers from.” Senator Ike Ekweremadu who represents Enugu-West Senatorial constituency was attacked by thugs believed to be members of the IPOB in Germany. ICCA/Umunna went on to say that such act of violence towards an Igbo leader makes one wonder the kind of information that the leaders of IPOB feed their members. “We wonder what grudges that IPOB bears against the former deputy senate president that they will go to the extent they did. This is a man who, along other Igbo leaders, stood up to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari during the onslaught he ordered on members of the IPOB through the Nigeria Army. Senator Ekweremadu stood up against Operation Python Dance and tried very visibly to secure the release of the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu as well as worked towards his meeting his bail conditions. “It is only cowards that seek to fight those who stand guard for them instead of facing the oppressors head-on. One would wonder where those same IPOB members are whenever known persons that executed the killings of Igbo sons and daughters visit Europe; because they are cowards they will hide within their tails but bare their fangs on someone who fights for them. It is cowards and betrayers that single out their own for attack but will stand lily-livered when the oppressors make an appearance.” “What happened in Nuremberg goes a long way to expose the kind of charlatans that are made leaders in IPOB; it is a leadership that is bereft of ideas, confused on their directions and allergic to wise counsel. Rather than think that charade of shame got them some currency in the media, the IPOB and their handlers ought to realize they just sunk deeper into the well of deplorable. “We urge the authorities in Germany to fish out the culprits in this condemnable act and make them face the full wrath of the law. Okoro went on to warn that such irresponsible and crude attitude should go thus far and no more. “It is time that members of the IPOB especially their leadership start giving their members reorientation and make them see reason why such act of crime should not be encouraged so as to desist from out of order otherwise Ndigbo will need to take measures to put them in check. “UMUNN also wants to use this opportunity to assure well-meaning Igbo leaders that they should not be deterred by the actions of some miscreants in Europe as they promised that such act of rascality will not be tolerated by Ndigbo in Diaspora, in North America especially Canada as UMUNNA will stand poised to make sure that whoever makes an attempt to disrepute any of our leader will face the full wrath of the law. http://igberetvnews.com/908543/despicable-shameful-cowardice-igbo-canada-condemns-ipob-egg-stoning-ekweremadu/
