There is nothing derogatory about the comment. The truth is the truth. We need to stop being sentimental and accept the truth when we see one. Anyway that's just my opinion.

lol We blacks have a long way to go. Nigerian graduates are indeed very unemployable. Some of them that drop their number on a public forum to an unknown group are just examples of Nigerian graduates. They don't think or care, they would even insult you if you try to do the right thing, they would ask what is your business. Why you may ask,

First of all, even PTDF reps on Nairaland did not open any whatsapp group but communicated to us via email, twitter and Nairaland. The first thing a Nigerian graduate would never ask is "What is the purpose of this". SMH see all of you at the induction if any !

I'll advice against it... To begin with, the mail sent to successful OSS candidates says "....You are therefore invited for the induction programme scheduled to hold from 9:00am 14th to 15th September, 2017 at the PTDF Tower.... ". Number 2 reason is that part of the requirements for documentation/verification before the induction is for candidates to present a printout of the email invitation for the induction exercise. In other words you might not be admitted for the induction without an evidence of invitation. Number 3 reason is the fact that certain category of applicants (phd split site scholarship) have not been contacted at all or names listed since the conclusion of the test/interview. This suggests that the selection process is still ongoing. You could add the above reasons to the invitation posted on ptdf website, which in my opinion is directed at oss candidates. My recommendation would be for you to hold on and see what happens on Monday if you fall under the LSS category. If you are for OSS do send them an email to know why you haven't been contacted.
Thanks

7 Months after Induction, Yet no Pay! PTDF 2016 LSS Scholar Laments!

As one of the awardees of the prestigious PTDF scholarship, I felt welcomed and proud to be standing tall amongst some of Nigeria’s brightest minds during the three day (15th-17th July, 2016) induction ceremony held at the PTDF towers in Abuja. However, as the induction ceremony drew to a close, many of the local scholarship awardees(LSS Scholars) including me, noticed a dichotomy in the ways affairs of the LSS and OSS (Overseas scholarship) schemes were been handled.

While we were waved goodbyes after the induction ceremony, preparation and travel plans were being made for our fellow scholars to be flown abroad. Many of us understood the urgency in trying to finalize travel plans for the foreign scholars – as school resumption was due in September,2016. However, some of the LSS scholars too were in similar predicament – as it was mandatory for LSS applicants to be student or admitted into any of a few selected schools across the nation at the time of application (October, 2015), so during the time of induction many of the local awardees were close to the completion of their graduate studies in some of the nation’s most prestigious Universities in Nigeria.

It is sad to state that while many of the LSS scholars brandish award letters from PTDF, some have had their results ceased by their institutions pending when PTDF pays their tuition. Whereas, most of the OSS scholars have had their fees (tuition and living expenses) paid in part or in full as far back as November, 2016, despite the outrageously high Forex rate. Meanwhile, Students schooling in Nigeria can only hold on to a Pseudo-Believe that “one day PTDF will pay”.

We want to use this medium to urge those in charge to overcome whatever bureaucratic bottlenecks that has hindered the processing of funds for the local scholars for months and to bring to the attention of well meaning Nigerians the challenges we face. Otherwise, this scholarship may tread the pathetic path of neglect similar scholarships and youth empowerment programs have witnessed in past. The Presidential scholarship (PRESSID 2015) and Youwin Batch 3 are notable examples.
Hence, we need no more delay in the payment of our funds.

Sincerely,

Concerned LSS Awardee

Your analogy is stupid. Sorry to say.

The land is not yours and the owners did not give you permission to cultivate it. You forcefully took the land in the name of one Nigeria, brought companies from abroad as well as sell oil wells to your friends and cronies most of who are not part of the family of people that own the land and then you think by giving them 13% of the land that you stole is good enough.

I'm not saying 13% is not a lot of money. Sometimes, i wish we in Enugu had 13% of anything. We would have gone very far by now. But that's not the point. The world over, resources are owned by states and regions and that's what makes Texas the second richest state in the US. Their oil is not controlled from the center. That's exactly what the Niger Delta needs. Under this present arrangement, the states need to manage their own resources and by tax to the federal government. That's the common practice all over the world. We must stop making it look like we're doing them a favour because we aren't. if they control their resources, however they choose to spend the proceeds is none of our business. It's the business of their people to hold them accountable not those it does not concern.
You can pass your message across without the word stupi.d

So they should agitate to leave Nigeria. What are you even saying? So long as the laws of Nigeria hold, no resource is for any individual or group of people. We have Niger deltans that own oil wells so what are we saying. I am here and I know the mentality here and I tell you the region cannot grow with this sense of entitlement. Watch Niger delta's that don't have this silly mentality and compare with the ones that have.

Abeg make una do what you want. Nigerians don't like reading or hearing the truth. Blow up all the pipelines and employ only Niger delta's. I don tire

What's your business on how people choose to spend their own money. If they decide to use it for toilet paper, how the hell is it your business. What you self righteous people don't understand that we understand all these your tactics of telling us, what about the 13% this, NDDC that. it's the resource of the Niger Delta ad it's their prerogative to decide whether they want to squander it or not. it's not in your place to ask questions. You're a parasite just like all of us that are not from there. Heard?
So Niger delta should stop complaining then if they like to use their money for tissue paper or be looted.

Imagine This, a boy has a Land, I am a farmer, I grow the corn and after harvest I give the boy 13% of my revenue, not only that I share the remaining 87% with him and his other brothers, I still use some of the money and give it to his mother (nddc) anuty and co to be giving him pocket money and all he needs. Yet he is still burning my crops and stealing my tools.

Also you keep talking of region people. For crying out loud this region is under the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria so they are not autonomous.

My state is being called no man's Land, my village is lost to the city;have you seen us kidnapping and burning government or private structures ?

PoliticsRe: Baseless Lies About Property In Igboland by step1: 8:03am On Jun 21, 2017
EmekaMD:
Baseless lie about property in Igboland

By Azuka Onwuka

There is a baseless lie many Northerners and Southwesterners have repeated for long that they now believe it to be true, and they have continued to pass it on to their children. That blatant lie is that the reason they don't have much property or businesses in Igboland like the Igbos have in other parts of the country is because Igbos don't sell property to them or rent shops to them.

The Arewa Youths repeated that lie in their letter to the Acting President thus:

"And since the Igbo have virtually infiltrated every nook and cranny of Northern Nigeria where they have been received with open arms as fellow compatriots, we strongly believe that the region is no longer safe and secure in the light of the unfolding threats and the fact that for a long time, the Igbo have gone to extra ordinary lengths to ensure that in their domain in the South East, Northerners and Westerners are as much as possible disenfranchised from owning any businesses whereas in Kano alone, they own not less than 100,000 shops across all the business districts."

I have thrown a challenge many times on this but nobody took up my challenge. I made myself available to help anybody buy property in Nnewi and give that person a signed promise that nothing will ever happen to that property and also make my children take over that pledge when I am gone. Mind you, a storey building sells for as much as N200 million in some parts of Nnewi. So don't think it is some place where nobody wants to buy from.

The simple question to ask those who make this baseless claim is, if Igbos don't sell property to them, don't Edos, Efiks, Ijaws, Ur hobos, etc in the South-South sell to them too? How many lands and shops do Northerners and Westerners own in Calabar or Benin or Uyo or Warri, etc?

How much property and stationary businesses do Northerners own in the Southwest outside Lagos (former capital)?

How much property and businesses do Yorubas own in the North outside Abuja?

So what is the reason for that?

I have urged some Hausas and Yorubas in Nnewi to buy property but some of them smiled knowingly and kept quiet, while some told me plainly that they can't take such a risk with the way things are in Nigeria.

The problem is simply fear of the unknown. Most Nigerians - minus the Igbos - have this fear that there will still be trouble in future. So they go into any state outside their region with a bag to do their business and leave when they are done. Many don't even go with their wife and children for fear of the unknown. They believe that it is only the former FCT (Lagos) or present FCT (Abuja) that is less risky to invest in.

Most people don't understand what drives Igbos in their business and investment decisions. Igbos don't buy property in other parts of Nigeria because of any special treatment given to them by their hosts. They buy property in spite of all that goes with property and the risk involved. They lose their money to fraudsters and omonile regularly in the Southwest. They lose their property to government demolition of property. Yet they invest in property because they see property as a profitable investment, and they hate to continue to be tenants forever. An Igbo man wants to be his own master (landlord) as quickly as possible.

Igbos have lost their property and businesses to burning, destruction and looting repeatedly in riots in the North. They have even been killed repeatedly. Yet they return to rebuild.

A few years after the abandoned property saga in Port Harcourt, Igbos returned to Port Harcourt and began buying property again like crazy. Even when they are warned of the possibility of a repeat of 1970, they still go ahead to invest in property.

Obasanjo has had some land in Enugu since the 1970s when he was head of state. He has not developed the land till today. Buhari said in his asset declaration that he has some land in Port Harcourt (probably given to him free of charge). He doesn't even know where the land is, not to talk of developing it. Yet these are heads of state who fought for the unity of this nation and are always talking about one Nigeria and need to believe in Nigeria. Yet they don't even have faith in investing outside their regions or FCT.

Igbos believe that crisis and loss will not make one not to make an investment decision. Their thinking is: "What if I don't invest and nothing happens eventually to the businesses or property around? Will I bring back the hand of the clock? But even if I invest and it is lost, life goes on. Life is a risk."

It sounds like a crazy way to think but that is how they are. No other Nigerian ethnic group thinks like this. That is why some people who don't travel assume that the reason Igbos live in large numbers in other ethnic groups and even return to places where they are killed is because Igboland is not developed. Even if you have never travelled to Igboland, please Google the CBN report of the six states that control 90% cash transactions in Nigeria.

The simple reality is that Igbos are wierd risk takers when it comes to business and investment. Other ethnic groups don't have such a trait. People are different.

The reason we do these intermittent interventions is to ensure that things are put in their right perspective, for those who care for the truth; for it was such falsehood that was spread in 1966 and used as a justification for the genocide against the Igbos that year.

Shops are available in Igboland, if you have the money and have the thick skin to compete. Land is available for purchase in all parts of Igboland, if you have the money. Igbos are business-oriented. They sell or rent their property to the highest bidder. And once the transaction is done, it is done. No stories.

Just keeping the record straight.
Igbos and lies are like 5&6. I don't know why they alway lump SE with SS.

I a yoruba man and I have a property in warri, agbahro to be precise. A friend has in port Harcourt along nta road.

These are few among my other friends and colleagues. Igbos don't sell properties to even an akwa ibom or ikwerri person not to talk of Yoruba or Hausa. Go find out
