Am not understanding how a department in the nigerian police force, commit armed robbery. And the police is hapless, or do the SARS have dirty info on the police hieracy or the ogas at the top are scared of the sars? |

bidexiii: Our law makers are so wicked they all ride in bullet proofed luxurious cars but soldiers are given soft skinned Toyota hilux vehicles to face BHT.
it was a planned and coordinated attack, BHT ambushed the patrol vehicles and the soldiers returned a counter fire . They knew they wherr patrolling along that route and eventually they ran into the I.E.D. trap.
A colleague his still battling with the shock and minor injuries from the attack. Oh boy.....you in service? |

Sizzorkay: Sometimes i get the feeling that these stories about a million people being rescued is just an evacuation of civilians with nowhere to go and in harms way. I mean, how do you rescue that many people without news of a single terrorist dead? Are captives left unguarded? okay I swear......its like we shying away from engagements with main BHT and catching the ones with half filled clips and dane guns |

So even if they are Rangers according to your own description. You think Rangers are just ordinary infantry or foot soldiers.
Well they are not. Regular infantry, trained to a higher degree and kitted to a higher degree than basic infantry. |

bidex111: The NNSBSC are the best SF assets we've got, yes I agree with that. We shouldn't forget that the defense HQ selected the best from Navy, Army, Airforce SF even the Police fore where not excempted from the training in North East-Europe.
Calling the AFSF a specialized infantry unit will be a total bad comparison way out of line
These guys are better equipped, trained and given tough task against a deadly terrorist sect. Afsf is our ranger |

Henry240: From what we can see, only the SBS is close to what we can describe as a strategic asset. It's not a bad thing, threats determine operational requirements.
Units like the AFSF are the tip of the spear. Of course they can carry out HVT Kill or Capture, but that unit is primarily a very specialized infantry unit. Same as the Regiment from the Air Force. Only the SBS feels like a Navy Seal or SAS type unit. I think the Airforce Regt guys are working their way towards SBS standard.....but sbs is still higher in skill sets. Coming from a guy that drinks eat and plays with sbs and AFSF . |

bidex111: That's a normal procedure with the Nigerian army. When there is an air strike the whole area is combed and ground battle damage assessment is carried out. d Truth of the matter is that we need cluster bombs for second waves of attacks......or a lot more rockets, else we just bombing structures and making BHT more shock resistant( learning on the job) |

tdayof: Limited payload? Mi35? You only require rockets and guns for such mission.
Arm the hind with 4 rocket PODs and guns. That's all.
A-jet has been used to conduct such operation by the NAF. f You think 300 men, widely dispersed can be totally wiped out by 2 mi35m? If you kill 100 , you lucky. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Stephandeswardt: 5:08pm On Apr 29, 2018 |
tdayof: SF team do not need to be in a large number to conduct the operation successfully. The Super Puma, MI-17 and the helicopters transferred from the presidential air fleet can do the transport work.
Dropping the guys won't be an issue. Really? You want to attack a base with just few numbers..... SF doesnt mean you are super man, countries with serious military, all have a dedicated air wing for this type of scenario, any other way......you are playing with fire, because alpha jet wont be able to do shit in such close proximity , and the mi35 has limited payload, trust me you dont want to go the way you suggested......your tactics cants work, will you jist stay in one place and engage them, you will have to deploy in different fronts , else they retreat to another direction |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Stephandeswardt: 3:18pm On Apr 29, 2018 |
tdayof: I am impressed with the video. Why don't we bring in Special forces to clear such area? SF breach the area and then draw enemy fire. This time, Boko Haram will converge together to return fire. With eyes in the sky, the A-Jet can now come in while the MI-35 provide CAS.
My opinion tho as I feel having a special forces team on the ground will increase BHT casualty. You will need to have proper helicopter aviation lift squadron and attached attack heliocpter squadron that can airlift 200 men in a go and effectively provide cover for the airlift copter and men while disembarking.......as little as this sounds.....nigerian military cant deploy this fast in 1 hour. |

Things like this happened during liberian civil war, and there was a period that nigeria noticed the bombs supplied with our mig21s were very old stock, that we had to complain to soviet union. Am wondering why everyone is quiet about that bomb....and if you have pics of dead BHT you are myvnew best friend please share. |
