Have you tried it first?
Don't spew nonsense about what you don't know.
If the Americans advocate it,I bet you would be looking for bitter leaf.

This is commendable.I know of families who would not be caught speaking their native languages and they have unfortunately transferred the nonsense to their offsprings.
Still dont know what their deal is cos some of them speak terrible English, lolz
I guess they want to be whiter than the whites
My husband and i make sure our kids, can speak both our languages.
Though they speak English too.
That's the best ooo.

Their IQ will even be higher

Ability to speak more than one language is good.

He lived part of his life in Ogun state . He even attended secondary school but I don't know for how long.

I will not be surprised that he speaks. Even some yoruba kids in UK that had never stepped their feet in Nigeria still speak the language fluently.

That is the beauty of being proud of your heritage.
Na so! I hope our "don't speak Yoruba" parents will take a cue from this.

Many parents overlook the 2nd option.

Multilingual parents improve the IQ of kids, but unfortunately most don't speak their MOTHER tongue to them... al na English... assuming their kids speaking English all day makes them intelligent.

Speak YORUBA/IBO to your kids

Totally agree. I think we equated literacy to not speaking or learning our culture in general. I am happy this is happening. Surprisingly, this is most common in Nigeria. Many other African countries still hold on to their culture tight. Once we can afford Apple lap top here, we start speaking plenty oyinbo and start feeling "educated" .

Good message from the Oscars. They have enough English speaking movies. I don't see why an international category should also be in English. Na we go dey shout colonization. Now, they are helping us realize we have roots, we don dey shout racism.
Abi na.
I agree jare, tell them o
Why is our music making waves? Its because its original.
It infuses our tune and language

Na we con dey recolonize...
TV/Movies › Re: 'Joy' Rejected By Oscars Because Of Too Much English by stevebond007(m): 7:36am On Nov 12, 2019
I think the International Community is trying to pass a message, they want to see us more through our own culture and LANGUAGE.

Producers shouldn't be scared to act in our own language, they should add SUBTITLES.

We are Africans not Europeans.

Its even badt that in most homes now, the KIDS don't speak their mother tongue, imagine Kids born and bred in West or East that can't speak a word of Yoruba/Ibo.

Does India have over 500 spoken languages?
They have their own numerous languages too.
Let them act in their native tongue and put subtitles in English like Indian movies do.

cheesy

We had better movies like

King of Boys
Gold statue
and so on

But Politics and Inferiority is killing us
Year in out the Indians drop 70% speaking movie for Oscar award they don't reject it

But we want to tell the white we don't have Culture

Do a movie in your mothers tongue and be Proud of the shii no we won't we will forming English speaking Bullshít

Well also need to appreciate our own awards like the AMAA awards and others before stuff like this Will stop
My exact opinion...

We need to promote our languages aside this English.

Imagine, kids here in Nigeria are not even speaking our own language again sef. We need massive orientation in this country.

E good na. Well Applauded.

While some miseducated parents will be screaming, "stop speaking vernacular".

Sometimes I wonder if its a taboo or sin to speak your own language.
A kid that speaks good English as well as the indigenous language will have a good IQ.
