God bless you. My brother in law always say, I'll rather be a tenant amongst the rich than a landlord in a ghetto.

I disagreed with him then until Nigeria became a real case study.
Jealousy, greed, envy and hatred for no good reason would be a norm in such a situation.

emmanuelewumi:

It is dangerous to be the richest man in the ghetto.

I will advise the man to relocate to where people of his social status reside, it doesn't matter if he becomes a tenant in the new location

If this trends in an over populated, vibrant city of Lagos, then no where is safe in Nigeria.

The rugged mentality of citizen's during the days of operation sweep must be resurrected.

Nairaland / General / Re: "I Advised Atiku, Tinubu To Step Down For Younger Generation" - Wole Soyinka by stevedre: 9:57am On Apr 06, 2023
You're absolutely right. Met a young girl of not up to 20 at a park who helped me carry my bag and begged me to help her move to any where I'm going to so she will live with me.

I was like what's going on, I asked if her parents knows about her plan and she said her parents are forcing her to do anything to support the family.

A girl, not up to 20 already already having the pressures and responsibility of taking care of her parents and younger one's.

Some parents are shameless.

theophorus:
You think the Younger Generation are better than their fathers?
Take a look at Dimeji Bankole, Dino Melaye, Yaya Bello and His Wife (she was 35 while her husband was 41 when they became the first family of Kogi), Lucky Igbinedion, Ifeanyi Okowa (this one is been in for 24 yrs and has occupy influential positions) etc...

Do you consider that the younger generation is so impatient such that at 16yrs dey are already into Yahoo++ and they are not ready to use their mind for Ideation.

See ehn, the younger generation are more concern about Big Yarns, Big Bobby, BBN, Epl, getting High, Alomo etc...

As he be so ehn we need to start value Reorientation from homes ooo, if not once these younger generation takes over like this na to Sell Nigeria patapata.

Foreign Affairs / Re: NATO Rejects Ukraine's No-fly Zone Request by stevedre: 10:49am On Mar 05, 2022
Be honest, was this copied or you made it up. I'm so impressed and love the analysis, it is what it is and I think Russia is aware of the international politricks of Nato and it's allies.

MERCHANDISER:

Before I went to sleep, my wife said to me: This Russia is such
a bad country, If Ukraine wants to join Nato, it is their business
and freedom, Russia has no right to intervene, this is just an
excuse for Russia to invade Ukarine.
So I said nothing, I just went to the kitchen and took a knife to
bedside, then I said: Let’s go to sleep.
My wife looked at me with her wide eyes: What the heck are you
doing, sleeping with a knife?!?!
I said: No worry, let’s go to sleep. Beside, sleeping with a knife
is none of your business and it is my freedom.
My wife said: How can I sleep when you are sleeping with a
knife? What if you accidentally cut me?
I said: Well, You don’t even trust your own husband, how can
you expect Russia to trust Ukraine? Me sleeping with a knife is
like Ukraine joining the Nato.

Romance / Re: “I Always Wonder, Who Gives Men Money When They’re Broke” – Nigerian Lady by stevedre: 11:35pm On Oct 03, 2021
I can relate. Tried it and it was not a good experience when things got a little bit shaky, i think she would have been more understanding if she was a good girl working/hustling in naija.
From self entitlement to pride to arrogance to disrespect to being non challant though there are other good qualities but i chrerish my peace and got much less than what i feel i deserve.
Honestly its better to take time and find a spouse in Nigeria when based abroad.

PeaceJoyLove:
I respect Nigerian men. Truth should be told. When the same man enters a developed nation, he turns to a resourceful person. From my investigation, naija men are mostly loyal to partners who picked them up from Nigeria. Even I can say around 75% of those who married grandmas are loyal. This is why I pity those who want to pick spouses abroad esp those looking for good men. You pick a naija man already based there, hmmm...wrong strategy. You better look for a good man who is still hustling in Nigeria and come down here to assist him join you. Gone are the days you rely on one that is already there. But many think they are smart and will look for one already there. Lol.

Well, this is the truth of the matter for those who cannot get abroad with student visa. Cos right now, it's almost impossible to get visiting or tourism visa again. So, road has been blocked for many hustlers. How many can afford to pay tuition fee. UK demands you pay part of the money, Canada uses same strategy too. Many cannot pay this, so theybdont go. And US which used to have flawed interviews for visa applicants has tightened up. Trump changed the game. You just have to have a source to show you can pay. No more fake documents to help you. So, lesser people are going abroad. And this is the truth. Nigerians have been clamped. You want a good Nogerian man, be willing to visit Naija. This is my candid advice.

Goodluck to everyone.
Business / Re: Big Four: These Are The Auditors Earning Billions From Nigerian Banks by stevedre: 7:23am On Sep 21, 2021
You do have a valid point. Honestly the biggest scams commited in big firms and top government agencies all over the world.

They call "bribery" lobbying and "scamming" aiming for national interest or national security.

I think proxies using the names of all this big firms handles Nigerian banking systems because how can our banks be always charging customers for silly reasons but these super power auditing firms act like its all good.

There must be some back door romance going on between the Top staffs of the bank and auditig firms because it is only in Nigeria you will save 100k in a "savings account" by January but find 95k left at the end of the year, that is if you are lucky because it can be less.

I stand to be corrected though, just poured my mind.

Bluntemperor:

You got sense and you wandered why all the failed Banks were never indicted by these Audit Firms in the first instance.
So many Banks failures yet the Audited Accounting Firms were free, why?
Something is certainly wrong with Nigeria Systems!
Politics / Re: External Reserves Slip By $905.5 Million In June – CBN by stevedre: 10:05am On Jul 02, 2021
Your education was not a waste. More wisdom to you and your kinds, you expressed the real issues and I'll add 9;

9. Nigerians. Yes, we are most times our own problems because if care is not taken a Yahaya Bello, Atiku or Tinubu may be the next president and the rollercoaster goes on on because the good, the bad and the ugly (I don't care) citizens are caught in it.

Beancounter93:

1. Increasing subsidy payments as it is becoming more expensive to keep fuel at a cheap price with rising oil prices meaning increase in the cost of refining fuel. Then subsidy makes it unprofitable to refine at home because domestic refinreis cannot set their prices and thus cannot make a profit on refining petrol here.

2. Oil has not been as high as we want it . We should have had oil at $133 for a balanced budget not the $80 it is ( breakeven price)

3. Because oil has not been as high as we want it to be we have to borrow to keep our heads above water. Paying back our debts is difficult.

Recall that the oil price has been volatile since 2014. Atimes it has been as low as $24 and as high as $80. Meanwhile our breakeven oil price rose from $122 in 2012 to $139 in 2017.and now $133. When oil is not as high as you need it you take loans to cover the difference
And then you have to pay back the loans.

4. Tax level low. Our tax to gdp ratio is 6.1%. Only 30% of the taxable population pays taxes. As such we are far more dependent on oil for everything (A big reason why NNPC boss Kyari is so insistent on subsidy removal is because it is taking a big bite from government revenues...meaning that government cannot spend money on other things until it has fed the subsidy monster)

5. Corruption and stealing at all levels of government. Inflated claims. Looting..Round tripping. You know the drill.

6. Failure to diversify the economy. Nigeria in particular loses billions to illegal mining. Agriculture is not at the level we need it to be to be a big exporter. And government talks a lot but does nothing. Rice pyramids does not mean that Nigeria has displaced Brazil and Thailand as a major rice producer.

7. Buhari. ( before anyone calls me his supporter which I ain't)

8. Insecurity, boko etc which drives off investors

The sun that sets in the evening, brings forth life in abundance
