Health / Re: Hiv+ Experiences,lets Share It. by Stevo30: 7:39pm On Apr 05, 2010
Two people who are postively living with HIV can have healthy negative children with adequate counseling medical guidance. Even discordant couple (one postive and the other negative) can have negative children without invecting each other or their children as long as they work with their councilors and doctors on how to go about it.

Having HIV is not the end of the world, so we must support those living with HIV and seek information to dispel disinformation and heresays

I remember years back during my NYSC, I terrorized my nieces to no end. Once their dad is not around, i am the lord of remote. They dont like it, because all i watch is sports and news, but do they have choice, almighty uncle. That was until I saved enough alawi to buy a "14" tv for my room in BQ.

Now my daughter and her mother has sole authority of over the living room remotes, while I do my thing in the bedroom.

Family / Re: Who Holds The Tv Remote Control In Your House by Stevo30: 2:10pm On Mar 15, 2010
For the sake of peace, I think family should have at least two tv set at home and a dual decoder cable tv if they can afford it.
Family / Who Holds The Tv Remote Control In Your House by Stevo30: 2:02pm On Mar 15, 2010
As innocent or mundane as the issue of tv/decoder remote control, it has caused a lot tension in some family. My neighbour wife comes in to watch tv/cable in our apartment. I asked my wife, why the woman leave the comfort of her home to come watch tv in ours. My wife tolde me that once the husband is at home he take control of the remotes and only watch sports or scientific channels. so the woman is forced to come to our apartment to watch her favourite programs.
As for me i hardly watch tv in the living room. i am use to my old box like tv in the bedroom.
Politics / Re: Religious Battle Looms In Ibadan by Stevo30: 11:09am On Mar 10, 2010
i am ashamed for muslim. why them all the time. Cant they allow their god to fight for themselves. There is a lady in Lagos that sang some blasphemous song a against Christianity, nobody has called for her to be killed. If she has even mentioned islam in that song, i am sure they would have called for fatwa on her.

I wonder while any sane person will call islam, a religion of peace. Quiet to the contrary, there is something wrong with islam or its adherents.

As for Ibadan, its all noise, the stupid man that was talking, i sure has his cousins and relatives who are christians. They can try to forment trouble, but it wouldnt be sustainable. Bastard yoruba children, if you are not happy being Ibadan, you better move to Bauchi, Maiduguri, Gusau, Kano to join your brothers

I dont support abortion. I once worked on unwanted pregnancy and abortion for over 4 years. Say what you want when a woman or a girl doesnt want a preganancy, she will do anything to terminate the pregnancy even including killing herself. Its a societal thing iku ya ju esin lo ( death is better than shame. Really the solution is if you dont want to get pregnant there are number of contraceptives available for you. Even if you are raped dont wait for the pregnancy go to hospital immediately or buy a post coital contraceptive pill.

Foreign Affairs / Doctors Release Obama’s Health Report by Stevo30: 9:16am On Mar 01, 2010
United States President Barack Obama was yesterday certified "fit to rule" after his first medical check-up since assuming office last year.

But his doctors observed that he has not quit smoking, takes anti-inflammatory medication to relieve chronic tendinitis in his left knee.

Nigerians are desperately seeking information on President Umaru Yar’Adua’s health. He was away in Saudi Arabia to treat acute pericarditis (inflammation of the heart’s covering). He returned last week after 93 days, but nobody has seen him.

They advised Obama to eat better to lower his cholesterol. Obama, 48, a basket ball buff, has endured an exhausting White House run and yearlong battles with congressional Republicans.

The White House physician, Navy Capt. Jeffrey Kuhlman, said Obama should stick with "smoking cessation efforts," the use of nicotine gum, and come back in August 2011 after he turns 50.

Obama’s cholesterol levels have crept up to borderline high and he should alter his diet accordingly, according to a report the White House released after the 90-minute examination at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

While at the facility, Obama visited 12 military service members receiving treatment and rehabilitation for injuries suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The president is the picture of health, eats modest portions and exercises regularly. He is an avid basketball player and golfer. The slightly elevated cholesterol levels, tendinitis in his left knee and occasional smoking were the only negatives noted.

Obama said at a June news conference that he still had an occasional cigarette. It was his first public acknowledgment that he hadn’t kicked the habit. He chews nicotine gum to avoid regular smoking, and his doctor said that should continue.

Kuhlman also said the president should modify his diet to bring his LDL, or bad cholesterol, below 130. At the time of his last exam, Obama’s total cholesterol was 173, while his LDL was 96 and HDL, or good cholesterol, was 68.

This time, total cholesterol was up to 209, with HDL down slightly at 62. LDL was up to 138. Borderline high cholesterol starts at 200, with LDL considered in the same category at 130.

Kuhlman said Obama’s last checkup was in July 2008 when he was seen by the attending physician to Congress when Obama was an Illinois senator.

During the 2008 White House race, his campaign released a statement from his longtime Chicago doctor saying Obama was in excellent health when examined January 2007.

Yesterday’s report said Obama is 6-foot-1 and weighs 180 pounds in shoes and exercise clothing.

His pulse rate is 56, which is very good, as is his blood pressure — 105 over 62. The doctor said Obama’s vision was 20/20 in both eyes for both distance and near vision.

The president was checked for and found free of colon cancer with a virtual colonoscopy, a scan that avoids the more invasive visual inspection with a camera device that is passed into the large intestine.

The tendinitis that Obama suffers in his left leg could be the result of his regular basketball playing.

Kuhlman said there was mild popping and grinding in Obama’s left knee and "some weakness" in his left hip, also possibly a result of rigorous and extended periods on the basketball court.

The doctor said Obama should:

•Have another exam for colon cancer in five years

•Continue smoking cessation efforts, a daily exercise program, a healthy diet, moderation in alcohol intake, periodic dental care, and remain up to date with recommended immunizations.

•Keep up a modified exercise regimen to strengthen his legs to ward off more difficulties with his knee.

•Modify his diet to lower his LDL cholesterol below 130.

Spending more than one hour beside the state's governor fulfilled Eniola Olajuwon's wildest dream and he declared: "I must say that today is the happiest day of my life because His Excellency, the governor of Lagos State, has made it so."

He grinned and clutched Governor Babatunde Fashola's hand as they walked through a line of pupils welcoming the governor to their school, Saint Saviour's Schools, Ebutte Meta, on Thursday.

Master Olajuwon had made a promise to his fellow pupils that, if appointed head prefect of the school, he would invite the governor for a lecture on leadership - even though he says he "did not know that the governor will agree; but I hoped and prayed and sent an email to him."

Mr. Fashola said he received the email sent through Eniola's mother's email address on November 19, 2009 and decided to honour the student leader's invitation.

During his lecture, the governor used the head prefect's action as an illustration of the qualities of a good leader.

"You (Eniola) demonstrated leadership; you kept a promise," he said "It was a gamble he took just because he wanted to fulfil a promise. I'm sure he didn't know my email address before then.

"We can learn a lot about leadership when we look around us and see people have done and what we have failed to do," Mr. Fashola surmised and added that "leaders, in my view, do not tell people how to do things; they show them how to do it."

He urged the pupils to always be courageous and responsible, not only for themselves, but for everybody.

"Leaders take responsibility, not only for themselves, but for everybody. Courage does not mean being brave or being strong, it means having faith to continue in the face of fear," he said.

Under the hot sun, which left everybody sweating, the governor discredited the notion that leaders are determined by how much money they have.

"It is not how much money one has that qualifies him to be a leader; it is the moral authority that he can be relied upon. Moral authority comes with the ability to keep promise," he said.

Mr. Fashola said the ability to keep promises will earn a leader the power of persuasion, which must be used to lead the people aright.

Describing the governor, Annette Carter, the school's head teacher said "finding time to honour the promise of a young school boy in Ebutte-meta says a lot about Mr. Fashola."

The visit coincided with the school's diamond jubilee celebration, and the chairperson of the management board, Tom Ogboi, who described the school as the oldest private school in Nigeria, disclosed that the school has decided to supply classroom furniture to some public schools within its locality.

Mr. Ogboi said the furniture will be ready by the end of March, 2010.

Reacting to the donation, Mr. Fashola said the gesture will help his government realise its set goal that "by the end of 2010, no child in any public school in Lagos State will have to sit on the floor without a desk and chair."

"We have done it before. All my education was in this country. I believe that the resources, the skills and the energy that is necessary to produce first class education in this country is within this country," he said.

Religion / Prayer Points For Rccg February 2010 Fasting And Prayer by Stevo30: 11:45am On Feb 01, 2010
FEBRUARY 2010 PRAYER POINTS FOR COVENANT PARTNERS

", Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper". (2Ch 20:20)

"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2Pe 1:21)

"We must pray against natural disasters that are gathering momentum" is one of the prophecies that God declared for all nations through our Father in the Lord, Daddy E. A. Adeboye, at the dawn of the New Year 2010. The attention of the entire world was shifted towards this prophecy on the 12th of January, barely two weeks after its pronouncement, when the entire city of Port-au-Prince in Haiti got buried by an Earthquake of 7.0 magnitudes.

According to a report by the European Union Commission, the quake killed an estimated 200,000 people in Haiti; left 250,000 injured and made 1.5 million homeless!

Nationally and internationally, the events witnessed from the 1st of January 2010 up till date speak volumes of the need for intensive prayers as directed in the prophecies.

Therefore, for our Covenant Prayer and Fasting in February 2010, the prophecies for the year as declared by our Daddy, the General Overseer, will form the prayer points. We believe that as we pray in obedience to God's directives, His mercy and grace will establish and prosper us throughout this year and beyond.

Have an effectual prayer experience in the matchless name of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ. Amen.
