a typo is in no way similar to a blunder. you can correct a typo after you double check. (which is normal by the way).

but a grammatical blunder remains so because you just don't know how else to express it.

MTN TO PAY grin grin

Chai!! Our Zulu brothers go tear shirt for this news grin

While pleading for staggered payment model, MTN has finally bowed to pressure as it has accepted to pay the N1.04 trillion fine slammed on it last week by the telecoms regulatory authority, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
Accordingly, the telecoms operator was fine for violating its directive on SIM deactivation.
This follows series of meeting held between MTN management team from South Africa and Nigeria with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
The telecoms operator which has largest subscriber base in Nigeria, it was gathered, may have agreed to pay the fine to sustain the interest of its telecoms business.
Industry sources who confirmed the new arrangement, disclosed that the federal government is already yielding to the plea, which according to him, was part of the agreement reached at the series of meeting held at the weekend in Nigeria.
“There have been series of meeting at the Presidency between the Vice President Osinbajo and MTN team both from South Africa and the Nigerian arm. MTN wanted a waiver considering their level of investments in the country, but government did not buy the idea of waiver. Instead, I think there will be concession, but certainly not a waiver. At the conclusion of the meeting, the MTN people negotiated on how to stagger the payment. The Presidency is even angry because MTN was a signatory to the regulation, but they are failing to comply with rules.”, the source added.
It would be recalled that NCC had said that MTN would not escape the fine, owing to the enormity of its implication to national security.
Although NCC had hinted that the issue is being handled by the federal government, the telecoms authority also noted that MTN would risk withdrawal of its licence if its fails to comply with the fine.
Even with the widespread calls for the intervention of the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), on the N1.04 trillion fine, Chief Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), had last week called on the NSA not to intervene in the matter, adding that NCC regulation must take its course.
NCC said it had consistently engaged Mobile Network Operators, (MNOs) to strictly adhere to the regulations and its business rules in the registration of their subscribers.
Following several engagements, the Commission had confirmed various cases of violations of the regulations and sanctioned appropriately.

Fool. I see your illiteracy is yet to improve.

Investors are being cautious because Nigeria is yet to have an economic team. If your brain was working you would understand that was his main point.

Just wait for buhari to name his cabinet and see the magic happen.

mtn will pay and there's nothing your government can do about it.

mzilakazi:
Yesterday talks were held on the radio with SA commercial sabotage expert in which issues were raised concerning MTN's outrageous fine of $5.2 billion. It was, however noted that Nigeria is in a huge financial crisis owing to constant falling oil prices and hence will look up to any means to amount any cash even by illegitimate means.

The following possibilities were raised by experts.

1. The fine was predetermined and outrageous, no where in the world have you seen such madness.

2. The nature of Nigeria's institutions of higher learning characterised by low quality education and consequently producing half-baked professionals as in the case of Nigerian professionals whom were hired by MTN Nigeria has effectively played a role. The action of deactivating even over 100 million subscribers could not have taken SA trained technicians more than five days to complete. This effectively proves that Nigeria's universities are of a low grade for producing half-baked professionals who could not render a simple task of deactivating unregistered sim cards on their mainstream network.

3. The element of bribery could have as well taken effect, since MTN had always been a target of Nigerias government. There is a high possibility that the CEO of MTN Nigeria being a Nigerian by birth could have been compromised in exchange of exorbitant amount of bribes to drag his feet in response to catching up with the deadline set up by the commission.

What are avenues for MTN?

1.MTN should institute immediate forensic investigation with experts imported from SA and America to investigate the commission of white collar crimes and sabotage.

2. A total pull out at no cost. MTN has an option of shutting down their business in Nigeria and leave them with a burden of unemployment and shrinking GDP with nothing to pay.

3. South Africa and Indian relations have now been lifted with already some SA shops launching their business in India. MTN has an option of dumping Nigeria for India.

THIS HOWEVER SERVES AS PRECEDENT FOR FOREIGN COMPANIES AND INVESTORS TO KEEP AWAY FROM NIGERIA AND LEAVE IT TO SINK IN A POOL OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND LOW FDI.
Wow!! Just wow!!

If this guy is the most intelligent man and one of the products of south African education, I can only smh

His opinion on the way forward for MTN can best be argued by south African drunks in pubs. Not on a radio show

MTN stocks has been on a steady decline since the fine was imposed. What's to say the company will recover when it loses it's Nigerian market being it's biggest revenue earner and largest in the world.

Who is to be investigated by the forensic experts? Did the blockhead realize that mtn has been flouting Nigerian laws since it's inception in Nigeria?

3 times the deadline for sim deactivation was pushed because of this south African yellow parasite yet you animals scream of being victimized when authorities finally get serious?

Is mtn the only telco in Nigeria? Why is it mtn that has to be the one being caught doing wrong.

He talks about half baked graduates but forgot it was the same graduates that have managed the business to remain the biggest telco in Nigeria till date.

Same Nigerian engineers that have worked on expansion projects for more than a decade now and are managing other telcos in the country.

You south Africans think only jobs will be affected in Nigeria. MTN losing it's biggest revenue earner will cause a lot of downsizing which will also affect south Africans as well since your salaries come from Nigeria you illiterate fools.

And by the way, with a market like Nigeria, if mtn withdraws, the effect will only be temporary for us since they are not listed on our stock exchange and the government only has to implement policies for other telcos to close the gap or new telcos willing to come in to have a share of the market taking the advantage.

So anyway it goes, SA will be most affected.

You south Africans should beg your government to declare a state of emergency on south African brains. It's too slow for practical reasoning.

Reading the Turks and Americans hyper-ventilate on this issue is so hilarious!

There is yet no evidence that the Russians have a MIG-29 in Syrian. It's likely a Syrian or Iranian MIG-29.

Truth is though, I wouldn't want a conflict between the Russians and Turks, i mean for one, the Turks are no push-overs, the have the world's 3rd largest F-16 fleet behind the U.S and Egypt at 260 planes.

They also fly the most modern, all over 260 Turkish F-16s are of comparable standard as American F-16s. They are better than Block 52s.
there is no report of iran deploying jets in syria. so it's either russia has some MIGs not reported in syria or it coukd be the syrians themselves because they've strayed into turkish terrritory like twice at the early stage of the war.

The surprise was that the Turkish jets were scrambled to intercept the Russians and guess who locked on it's target first grin

Has anyone ever stopped to think that Boko Haram has less to do with Jihad and more to do with the Hausa-Fulani Faction loosing power to the Ijaw before they felt their term was through (3 years instead of cool and that the decline of Boko Haram has more to do with the fact that a Hausa-Fulani faction leader is in power than anything else?

Especially since you consider that Goodluck was only in office because of militant action.

Of all documentaries and reports about Nigeria written by some ignorant foreigners, this guy seems to know more.

And like he rightly said, only Nigerians understand Nigeria.

Goodluck could have ended BH but he instead politicized it and waited till election before taking it serious (you also have to consider the fact that we faced sabotage from western powers too because Jonathan refused to play ball regarding some of their colonial policies).

And buhari is just feeding off jonathans last minute successes.

For the sake of enlightenment you should know that previous Fulani governments too faced islamic insurgencies.

1) Maitatsine during buhari regime in the 80s
Lastly, BH is not a Hausa Fulani movement, it's dominated by kanuri.

2) Boko haram uprising during yaradua

Both these leaders were very quick and decisive to end it while Jonathan... Well... You know the rest

Obasanjo didn't have problems because he appeased the group in the north while fighting in the south at the same time. Because it would have been impossible to fight on both fronts because Nigeria was just recovering from sanctions that had crippled the economy and military.

Simply put.. Nigeria is too complex for foreigners to understand.

- Over 25,000 air strikes in Syria and Iraq proves my point, air strikes alone are largely ineffective in COIN.

1) US trained rebels laying down their arms and donating them to al nustra for safe passage.

2) US and EU now shifting towards Russia and Iran (that they vowed never to work with) to help in the fight.

3) ISIL still holding large territories after thousands of air strikes.

The list is endless.
