overhypedsteve: Oga stop that thing. Which one be you are Igbi? This is nairaland and not beegeagle if you don't want to argue with him keep it to yourself. Stop saying somebody's name as if it's a curse.
And you had to quote me? What's up with the emotions
You had to pick a fight for someone after argument has ended? Try not to lose yourself sir.
I can call anyone's name/moniker I want oga. Whether on nairaland or wherever. Don't make it your problem.
It's social media.. Get a grip and don't get too attached.
patriot4: It is quite difficult to argue with one who engages a conversation by telling you that you are not making sense, it is even more difficult when the person doesn't actually poke at any holes in your write-up. Now I find it quite fraudulent to ascribe reasons to things like "china copying what it can". For your information, everybody is copying what it can. Even your much gloryfied usa spends most of its time copying france, russia, england and even china. I repeat my claim: with the right team and the right investment, I give it 2 years to reach the desired target and move on from there.
Hahahahahahaha... I just remembered you're igbi.
I wouldn't argue with this one.
Whatever makes you happy bro
Try taking sentiments aside. You'll understand what I'm talking about.
And yeah.. Aside from you, even the Chinese know they copy everything.
Abeg let's not derail this thread with baseless arguments.
patriot4: I disagree. Because of my knowledge of the world of research I believe that such would not take too long. As for the number of countries which produces missiles, I do not have that number, neither do you. It is my belief that this kind of enterprises would be kept secret. Besides don't expect countries like libya which are constantly under turmoil to have the time and investment for such projects which require real planning. The world is full of saboteurs (many of whom work for western countries to stop 3rd world countries from archieving too much developpmement), eg: the spies in iran who frequently kill iranian scientists. This is not a matter of textbooks or journals, this is a matter of scientific research. Scientific research is not about reading textbooks, it is about solving problems and building theories. If you place the right guys like what the germans and allies did in ww2 then you will get result. Remember Alan Turing. The germans didn't expect him or anybody to be able to crack their codes in that little span of time. But that is the magic of scientific research: the breakthroughs.
Dude, you're not making sense. Try to be more coherent if you know what you're talking about.
Unless you are modifying/developing on an existing technology, it takes years of R&, testing and a lot of funding to develop a sophisticated weapons tech like guided missiles, jets, Tanks etc..
Even the Chinese realized that. That's why they copy as much as they can to meet up.
Even at that it still takes years for them to develop.
If Nigeria is really serious about this development depending on how we want to develop (existing or from scratch), it will take from 5 years upwards before we start seeing results.
patches689: It will work like it did in South Africa with Armscor (Denel)
Sometimes it will cost you money, sometimes it will make you money - but in the end you will be getting products made specifically for Nigerian conditions
The only problem is following the correct project pipeline that allows for growth and the development of increasingly sophisticated projects while at the same time ensuring quality.
Example:
Project 1: Military Truck Project 2: Monocoque MRAP based on Military Truck Chassis and engine Project 3: APC based on MRAP hull but more sophisticated chassis and engins Project 4: Wholly new vehical (like an IFV) based on lessons learnt from development of truck, MRAP and APC
Get ready to sit back and wait 20 years for something sophisticated to come out
You're right.
I don't think it will take that long though. All arms of service already have ongoing projects that needs funding to complete.
And remember proforce also has an IFV/Tank in the works.
The army has already collaborated with proforce to mass produce igirigi, so I expect more collaborations with the private sector to speed up things.
Maybe from 5-10 years will be enough for something sophisticated like missile technology and a new riffle.
I just listened to the Nigerian chief of air staff saying after inspecting the air force as directed by the president, he has forwarded a list of platforms the air force badly needs.
A lot of boko haram attacks have been happening in cameroun fir some time now that have gone unreported.
i hope their military will be ready when boko haram starts to shift it's main operations to camerouns's northern region that is a replica of the piverty striken Northern part of Nigeria due to the offensive mode of our military recently.
frumentius: When you run the world's sole superpower you have reason to be paranoid. On another note, when US presidents visit SA, their Secret Service doesn't bring their full complement because they trust the STF!
My point exactly. Even when queen Elizabeth visited Nigeria, or bush, markel and other high profile superpowers, they damn sure didn't come here packing.
So why all the Calvary in Kenya? Is she incapable or what?
Maybe the Kenyans can answer this question.
It's a shame for a country(regional power for that matter) to have it's security undermined like this.

please for those using the airtel 1.5k/2k for 4gb, how is the data billing?
i've been hearing about airtel notorious double billing for the subscriptions.
please i will appreciate an answer
VickyRotex: No you can't. Else you won't be able to browse until 9pm again. The moment you put on your data before 6am, it shouldn't go off until after 9pm.
VickyRotex: Make sure your data is enabled before 6am. Even if its 2 minutes to 6 in the morning, you can put it on, then it rolls over and you can use your night sub during the day, and also, your gadget mustn't go off before 9pm. It works for me.
but can i still switch off my data during the day after rolling over?
mzilakazi: I PREFER TO USE CAPS AND NOT TO SAY THAT I AM SHOUTING BUT ONLY BECAUSE IT GOES DOWN WELL WITH MY TASTE. THERE IS NOTHING SO EMBARRASSING IN LIFE TO BE CORRECTED ON CAPS WHENEVER YOU ARE WRONG.
Henry120: Ventures Africa has launched its second annual ranking of Africa’s wealthiest people at richlist.ventures-africa.com. The Richest People in Africa list remains the most comprehensive compilation of the continent’s wealthiest individuals. In 2014, we counted 55 African billionaires with a net worth totalling $161.7 billion, a 12.4 percent rise from $143.8 billion in 2013. This year Africa welcomed five new billionaires, four of whom are Nigerian.
Reclusive industrialist, Cletus Ibeto, leads the newcomers with $3.7 billion in net worth. Oil mogul, Benedict Peters, Tony Elumelu, Chairman of UBA Group and founder of Heirs Holdings, Samih Sawiris of Egyptian multi-business conglomerate, Orascom Group, and Akanimu Udofia complete the list. Key findings from the research include: The average net worth of the continent’s wealthiest people is $2.9 billion. The median age is 63 years. Mohammed Dewji of Tanzania and Igho Sanomi, a Nigerian oil trader, remain the continent’s youngest billionaires. They are both 39 years old. Moroccan businessman Miloud Chaabi, Kenyan industrialist Manu Chandaria, and Mohammed Al-Fayed, the Egyptian property tycoon, are Africa’s oldest billionaires. Folorunsho Alakija, the richest black woman in the world, is worth $7.3 billion dollars. She is followed by the daughter of Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, Isabel dos Santos who is now worth $3.5 billion. The most common industries in which African billionaires have made their money are: construction, financial services, oil and gas, manufacturing and real estate. Aliko Dangote, founder of Africa’s largest industrial conglomerate Dangote Group, remains the continent’s richest man. His net worth has grown to $25.7 billion, a 21% rise from his $20.2 billion valuation in 2013. Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt have the most billionaires. Nigeria leads the pack with 23 while South Africa and Egypt both contribute eight each. In total twelve African countries are represented on the list. Africa’s wealthiest individuals provide jobs for almost half a million people within the continent. Chi-Chi Okonjo, Founder of Ventures Africa, said: “The Ventures Africa Rich List is the most authoritative accounting of individual African wealth. We have been able to do so because of our on-the-ground experience and detailed knowledge of the local African business landscape.” The list has been compiled using financial reports, by tracking equity holdings around stock markets and identifying specific shareholding structures in large, privately-held companies. The results have been corroborated with investment bankers, realtors and financial analysts to determine proper valuations.

mzilakazi: YOU PEOPLE THINK THAT APARTHEID WAS AS BAD AS EGYPT WHEN THE PHARAOHS MALTREATED THE ISRAELITES. APARTHEID WAS MERELY THE POLICY OF SEPARATION THAT SOUGHT TO DIVIDE SOUTH AFRICA ALONG RACIAL LINES, BUT IT COULD NOT PROGRESS. IT WANTED ALL BLACKS, COLOUREDS AND INDIANS TO HAVE THEIR OWN SEPARATE GOVERNMENT AND SEPARATE AMENITIES LIVING IN SELF-GOVERNING HOMELANDS. ALTHOUGH IT ACHIEVED SOME OF ITS OBJECTIVES IT WAS NEVER AS BAD AS EGYPT. BLACKS STILL ENJOYED BASIC SERVICES EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL AS WHAT WHITES WERE OFFERED.
Why are you getting all emotional and typing in caps? Are you hurt?
