Why don't you check who started this argument mate, before calling us ignorent.
You ignorant comrade @patches claimed Nigeria never had SF (which has been in existence for more than 20 years)

and anyone will find it annoying when a wrong info is peddled by an ignoramus who doesn't even have a clue of the armed forces he's talking about but keeps insisting on his ignorance.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by stillchris:
Patchesagain:
1. Really? The 3rd Marine Commando spent the war behind enemy lines training insurgents and doing deep reconnisance? NO - since they are based on the ROYAL MARINE COMMANDOES they did raiding which makes them SOF

2. I dont care what YOU call them, the differentiation comes through usage... so if they spent the war grabbing HVTs then they are doing SOF or if they are spending the war doing what I outlined above then they are SF

3. Whats new is that you have another SOF unit that has been trained to modern standards.

4. If you wish to claim SF then provide info about your SF doing SF shit... doint point me at what is effectivly a military swat team and try to tell me that they are SF
.
1) I don't know patches. You tell me since you know the exploits of the marine commandos better. And no you ignoramus. They were not based on the royal marine commandos

2)Are you drunk?

Do you bother to do research before making an opinion. This is definitely one problem with you people( especially you)

I said look up 72nd special forces battalion of the Nigerian army. They've been active from the maitatsine, Taliban to boko haram insurgencies. That's more than 20 years

Has Nigeria had other conventional threats aside Islamic terrorism? So engaging in such operations which conforms with the kind of threat doesn't qualify them as SF despite the SF training they are made to undergo?

So you are saying since the SANDF SF have been useless for the past 20+ years disqualifies them as well?

3) what's new is we are gradually shifting towards SOF which we lacked initially. Look up the formation of such units and see they were drawn mostly from the 72 SF battalion.

Sometimes it's not wrong to admit ignorance over matters you are clearly ignorant on.

This thread is not where you should bring your misleading tales of fantasy.

It will come to a time you will believe Buratai is a Kenyan army chief with the way you keep trying to misinform yourself

Technically Nigeria does not have any SF

Or at least none that we know of.

Remeber that a big part of SF is that they are "trainers" and that they are capable of conducting irregular warfare

Example: WW2
Technically the SAS in WW2 were SOF and not SF.... same with the Commandoes

BUUT "Popskys Private Army" (i forget the guys name) and elements of Merylls Marauders and the Chindits were SF (operated behind enemy lines on a near permanent basis, trained local insurgents, focused on irregular warfare, deep reconisance etc) - but the last two are not true blue SF in themselves.

And then you get elements like the LRDPG who sat in the gray area between SF and SOF because they did deep reconisance behind enemy lines and operated allmost permanently behind enemy lines.

Basically, there is nothing which you guys have that falls under the spectrum of SF

This is not a big deal though because there is a global shift away from SF towards SOF - the only true blue SF unit left in the world is Delta with most countries moving those operations away from the military and into their Intelligence Agencies. Units like the Recces, Green Berets and SAS will still have *some* SF training and capacity but it is no longer their job or focus.

Now, you could say that this argument is semantics, and yes with a normal person it is. But on this forum the use of yhe correct language is very important.
You are wrong patches.

Good thing you agree you could be ignorant of this fact

Nigeria had it's first SF during the civil war. (3rd marine commando).

Look up 72 special forces battalion based in makurdi

What's new in our army is SOF of which men where selected from different special forces units

You south Africans should stop spewing ignoramus trash about something you don't know of. It's not funny

And yes. Your SF have not been in combat since inception of SANDF so it's wrong to rate them above any other.

and some gullible Nigerians will believe this trash.

these so called religious leaders should learn to caution their mumu followers not to use their religious righta as an excuse to cause neusance to the society.

i'm not justifying the killings by the army as there are other ways to control violent protests (thanks to our useless police).

the shiites are also not absolved in this matter too.
these guys always disturb public peace when doing their rituals and it's unacceptable.

Nigerian government should stop treating these religious leaders as demi gods. Jesus christ knew what he meant when he told his followers to "give to ceaser what belongs to ceaser"

you can't be preaching peace while at the same time breaking laws and breaching public peace in the name of religion.

this nonsense has to stop in this country if we are to move forward

PoliticsUrgent Advise Need Please!!! by stillchris(op): 9:32am On Dec 17, 2015
I just got a job that pays better than my current one (although they haven't called me but my inside source has confirmed I'm among the list of those to Be taken and that it will be till next year).

Let me start from where my confusion began so you can understand.

My current job is based on contract (project supervisor) and when there is no project I don't get paid so I started an industrial cleaning business to fetch me money on the side.

During my interview with this company I was honest with them about the nature of my job and how I also do the cleaning job too, but I didn't tell them that I own the business.

Last night I got a call from my insider in the company that the boss( who also interviewed me) wants a maintenance cleaning at his home as his family will be returning soon for Christmas.
Since he knows I run the biz, he had to call me.

Now my confusion is:

1) Will my taking the contract affect my recruitment since the person who owns the house knows me? As per conflict of interest. Although I told them about it during the interview

Passing the job to someone else will still require my presence as per negotiations process as I don't want to be cheated from getting my commission.

So one way or the other, I still have to be there.

Abeg I need some professional advise as I don't want to lose a good opportunity as this company is one you can grow a nice career with.

lalasticlala abeg help me put am for the appropriate place

Not to denigrate the fighting men of the NA. Henry and others know I think the Nigerian procurement process is abysmal and designed so the ogas at the top can chop, whilst the grunts on the ground can drop.
My question is this, why post pics from a few years back of Nigerian soldiers training in Eastern Europe with Belorussian ATGMs that the FG has not acquired?
there's a new procurement policy being pursued by buhari's regime which would also see gov to gov deals etc..

i just hope they take it serious and follow it.

the ATGM might be in service but not listed like most other equipments we have.
PoliticsNationwide Protests Demanding Jacob Zuma Of South Africa To Resign by stillchris(op): 3:24pm On Dec 16, 2015
JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Thousands of marchers demanded President Jacob Zuma step down in rallies across South Africa on Wednesday, blaming him for a week of financial turmoil triggered by his sacking of the finance minister.
Crowds answered appeals on social media to gather in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth on the eastern coastline, carrying posters reading "Save South Africa" and "Recall Zuma now".
Zuma appointed David van Rooyen, a former mayor, to replace the widely respected Nhlanhla Nene last Wednesday, a move that caused a selling frenzy in the rand, bonds and stock market.
He then changed his mind late on Sunday and reappointed former finance minister Pravin Gordhan to the post he held from 2009 to 2014.
Protesters chanted "Zuma must fall" as they gathered at the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Johannesburg.
"The people in the (ruling) ANC are sharing the money, that's why they haven't recalled him," said Thembani Nyandeni, a 28-year-old protester who told Reuters he had been unemployed for the past four years.
There was no immediate government response to the marches. But senior leaders in the ANC have rejected other calls for Zuma to be replaced.
Addressing a government event in Port Elizabeth planned to mark a public holiday, Zuma steered clear of the row.
He said South Africans, mostly the black majority, had made strides since the fall of apartheid in 1994 but acknowledged that black businesses could play a greater role in the economy.
Adding to the government's woes, Moody's Investors Service cut its outlook on South Africa to "negative" from "stable" late on Tuesday, citing structural challenges in the country's mining industry and increasing political pressures.

We also have to look at the possibilities of Nigeria being a part of the useless coalition for intelligence purpose only.

Buhari will not be so stup1d to commit our troops to a non African crisis especially now that we are busy at home. And yet to fully commit to the standby force.

The coalition like every other coalition (including the west) is bound to fail. I just don't understand this new trend of building coalitions without a clear plan and strategy.

These terrorists have made our leaders gone mad grin

I know 3 members of the coalition that don't see eye to eye (Egypt v Qatar & turkey). So how are these countries supposed to corporate militarily?

Nigeria will benefit from it from the intelligence part. I don't see us shedding a blood for those arabs.
