BlackBaron: Planting is just some of the obligatory nonsense drills to imply they make soldiers better. The supporters would also tell you that second video with horsewhips and cane is another to make them better.
It's part of what makes a few turn out to be sadists after army camp with that brutality. that's what disciplinary commitees or whatever other countries call it are there for. every soldier in the world goes through inhumane treatment in training. and every soldier in the world is a potential rights abuser (it's not exclusive to Nigeria). however, it is the responsiblity of the disciplinary body to reign in on soldiers who do such. neither you nor i are in the position to judge what goes on in these training academies cos you can't tell me the top brass don't know about it. they as well went through it and it's part of what made them men. if you are a Nigerian graduate and have passed through NYSC camp (not lagos and other soft ones) you'll know what i'm saying. i thougt i was stubborn till i was fvcked up along with a few guys in front of the whole camp for dodging morning drills(imagine in front of those fine girls ). part of that and a lot more changed my orientation, toughened me for real bro . |

Henry240: It burgles the mind, i don't see how the SANDF pulling out of Darfur is Nigeria's business. We can discuss the reason why, but that's that.
It took Nigeria contemplating over 1 year to deploy to Mali, when the French deployed, our politicians began acting all serious and forming activity.
Nigeria only has a few military advisors/Trainers in Mali, there are no combat troops or heavy equipment there. We only have Policemen in active duty in Mali, and that's it.
Every country has challenges not just the Nigerian military or SANDF. I think BH exposed a lot of weaknesses in our military (thanks to OBJ's policy of downsizing and degrading the military due to washington's advise), and the military was cautious not to commit to such an offensive operation we clearly lacked the capabilities to execute at that time. At first it was easy chasing out boko haram when they lacked conventional capabilities. A kind of war we were to engage in Mali at that time. I think too much engagement in "peacekeeping missions" also added to our weakness. Thank God we are gradually getting it right again. We just need to lay our hands on some mad platforms if we are to prepare for ISIS. I believe Nigeria is in their sight and I don't trust our dull politicians to pay attention. |

agaugust: Yea, like deploying your men inside Nigeria, is more important to you.
The news made all South Africans happy until it was proved false. None of you guys complained about needing your troops elsewhere when it was time to deploy SANDF in Nigeria, you were all very happy to deploy them where the job is now very easy after hundreds of Nigerian troops have died fighting to crush Boko Haram this far.
Yes every South African is happy to abandon Darfur Sudan where the suffering Dafurians have no army, but same South Africans are rejoicing at the news of deploying their special forces to Nigeria that already has a 100,000 man army including 10,000 SF and CT-COIN forces, and a war that has almost ended with Boko Haram heavily degraded and decimated.....yea, shows how heartless, selfish, and glory stealing South Africans are, they do NOT love Africa, all they ever want is national glory even if they have to steal it. At the encounter, one of the suspected wanted Boko Haram terrorists leaders who is serial number 95 on the first Nigerian Army wanted list of 100 Boko Haram terrorists leaders, was fatally wounded in the exchange of fire. He later gave up while receiving medical attention at the base, while other members of his team escaped with gun shot wounds.
The troops recovered 7 Jerri cans of 30 litres containing 210 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), motorcycles and food stuff in addition to arms and ammunitions. The pig's pic below

patches689: They still operate on Nigerian soil (Ie;Dikwa is 113km from the Chadian border), which goes to the point that foriegn troops have deployed to and operated on your soil. So saying that they could potentially do so again is not unrealistic. I'm going to get in on this to let readers know how not to take your opinions seriously since they are always clouded with lies. And it's military related and I'm bored First of all, a little education on the MNJTF since you are clearly ignorant about it. The task force was first organised as a solely Nigerian force in 1994, during the administration of Sani Abacha, to "checkmate banditry activities and to facilitate free movement" along its northern border.[1][2] In 1998 it was expanded to include units from neighbouring Chad and Niger with the purpose of dealing with common cross-border security issues in the Lake Chad region, with its headquarters in the town of Baga, Borno State.[2] With HQ was in Baga. A Nigerian border town. Please educate yourself And yet again @patches you lie. The Chadians Are not on Nigerian soil. They played their part as a member of the MNJTF and were asked to withdraw because what they claimed was false. Following report that Chadian troops are withdrawing from Nigeria before it was later alleged that, it was Nigerian authorities that asked them to leave Dakiwa, a town in Borno State that was reportedly reclaimed from Boko Haram by Chadian troops, some concerned Nigerians have negatively reacted to government’s decision. https://www.naij.com/401977-insurgency-nigerians-react-to-chadian-troops-withdrawal.htmlWe went in and finished the job with pictoral evidence that we did. (something the media and chadians couldn't provide despite their claims) https://www.naij.com/499081-photos-nigerian-army-dislodge-boko-haram-members-dikwa-borno-state.htmlAnd patches, DIKWA IS A BORDER TOWN WHICH FALLS IN THE AOR OF THE MNJTF More than three weeks after the Nigerian military issued a statement saying it had recaptured Dikwa, a border town in Borno state, http://icirnigeria.org/nigerian-military-rids-dikwa-of-boko-haram-insurgents/Stop trying to misconstrue the activities of the MNJTF to Back your fallacy. The MNJTF have always operated across the borders of the contributing states. Now that Cameroon has joined in we have seen pics of Nigerian troops on Cameroonian border towns as well. My response to your lies is for other readers to know the facts. patches689: 1. Please dont insult members of this forum (for no apparent reason)
2. Chad and Cameroon deployed on Nigerian soil - so what? Its not a big deal to admit that, and it in no way diminishes your national pride.
My statments are based on a press release and well documented Chadian and Cameroonian deployments in Nigeria. They are certainly not lies. Please contain your emotional outbursts, we are trying to have a discussion here, not a dick measuring contest.
Ps; Finally found a pic of an ERC 90 in the NE not an insult if it's true you know. i knew you would bring up chad cameroon issue. is it not you? i hope yo are enlightened enough to know about the MNJTF and it's AOR which includes boarder communities of the contributing states. so yes. you lie when you ignore that fact just to back your falsehood. i wonder how bringing up facts to prove your media lied is seen as an emotional outburst to you. this is not an issue to be discussed. it'll be political suicide if any government permits it. don't give us a Nigerian view from a south african perspective |

Patchesagain: Chad and Cameroon had small ops in our territory in border regions
The visit from that fat cu.nt Zuma is irrelevant (lile everything he does) it was Chokes part of the entourage that was important
SANDF deployed would mean you have everything to gain and nothing to lose
If they help you then you get the glory
If they fvck up then you get to blame them and distance yourself from the error
These things are political, and so you must view them from that context i'm not surprised you would take the false report seriously. only a liar will be decieved by the same lies he spreads. stop finding a reason for it to be true. SANDF nor any foreign troops will never be allowed to fight on Nigerian soil. SANDF can deploy along the borders to fight alongside the MNJTF. our geopolitics is too complex for such to happen. for example, during the Niger delta crisis (which the military could barely contain at first), Bush proposed to send US marines to help but Obasanjo bluntly refused. with or without election, GEJ would have never allowed it and not to talk of a retired General. stop lying, maybe you would be able to decode lies when you see it next time |

gottfried21: Let me just leave this here this is the problem with the media. i guess SA media is not so different from ours after all. i watched the chief of defense visit and nothing like deployment was mentioned. just collaborations. Nigeria does not allow foreign boots on it's soil except for training and non combat reasons. i sense the media trying to change the narrative. first it was america and now SA. it's not funny at all Dan-Ali said after his meeting with Ms Mapisa-Nqakula in Abuja that since the MoU on defence co-operation signed between the two countries in 2013. “It is a very good thing that we are thinking that South Africa being our close ally should come and help us in developing our industrial complex, that is the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria. “We are of the opinion that very soon, after the two Commanders-in-Chief meet, we will look into going deep on how the two countries will work together and come to an agreement on the MoU and technical expertise between the two countries,” he said.
Ms Mapisa-Nqakula noted that the cooperation between the two countries would lead to stronger ties. She stated that the areas of collaboration would include the “transfer of skills, technologies, [and] processing development together between the two nations”. A recent visit of the SANDF defence chief also did not mention any deployment to fight boko haram. The Chief of South African National Defence Force, General Zakaria Shoke has re-affirmed his country’s willingness to work with Nigerian Armed Forces to the benefit of the two countries. General Shoke made this known when he visited the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin in his office in Abuja. The Chief of South African National Defence Force promised to support Nigeria in its quest to end Boko Haram in the country. General Shoke further maintained his Armed Forces commitment to the development of the Nigerian military in the area of capacity building, exchange programme and logistics support, among others. He said Nigeria is very important to South Africa, hence the need to working together for the benefit of both countries, especially now when Nigeria is fighting Boko Haram. While responding, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olonisakin thanked the South African Chief of National Defence Force for the visit and solicited for more cooperation in defence related matters. This, he said would go a long way in strengthening the two countries bilateral cooperation. General Olonisakin also requested for training of more Special Forces and other equipment that could be used in the operations against Boko Haram which has been substantially decimated and degraded. He said the war against terror is closing up and would soon end. The occasion also witnessed briefing from the 3 Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces who stated the need for logistics and training support to further terminate the war against Boko Haram soon. So I wonder where the SA media for their false news from. and this was the main purpose of zuma's visit that the media claimed was to seal the deployment of your military Buhari spoke while answering a question during a joint press conference he addressed alongside visiting South African President, Jacob Zuma, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President explained that because members of the Boko Haram sect were using unregistered SIM cards, MTN contributed to the casualties recorded by the sect because of its inaction. He said, “The concern of the Federal Government was basically on the security and not the fine imposed on MTN. “You know how the unregistered GSM (SIM cards) are being used by terrorists and between 2009 and today, at least 10,000 Nigerians were killed by Boko Haram, at least 10,000. “That was why the NCC asked MTN, Glo and the rest of them to register GSM subscribers. “Unfortunately, MTN was very very slow and contributed to the casualties. And NCC looked at its regulations and imposed the fine.” He said that was why his government left the NCC and security agencies to handle the matter in their own way. Buhari added that unfortunately for the telecommunication firm, rather than negotiating the fine or the mode of payment, it dragged the Federal Government to court. He said the country’s constitution stipulates that no further action should be taken on any issue that is a subject of litigation. Buhari said now that MTN had decided to withdraw the case from court, it is free to go back to the relevant government agencies to see if the fine can be reduced and paid in installments. i'm not against collaborations between the two countries but we should learn to scrutinize the media and get our facts right. last year it was ugandan forces deploying to nigeria[/ |
