The manifestation of the inflation decline is not really visible to majority of Nigerians. We need short terms monetary and fiscal policies that will tackle unemployment and reduce hunger and starvation. |

actrinity: I DISAGREE. Before 2002 it was 2 kids that sometimes escorted both teams playing to the pitch until 2002 world cup when each player is entitle to a kid. is it fair play you were talking about? |

The agreement was between UNICEF and FIFA. The campaign was meant to improve and protect children’s lives around the world and show that football is making a difference for children. The most visible way the campaign was promoted was by having children “lead the players on to the field wearing FIFA/UNICEF "Say Yes" T-shirts” before every World Cup match in 2002. 312 Likes 14 Shares |

Nairaland / General / Is Our Government Blind, Deaf And Insensible? by Stonerobaba(m): 2:46pm On Nov 10, 2017 |
IS OUR GOVERNMENT BLIND, DEAF AND INSENSIBLE? Men were created with unique natural sense organs to see, hear, touch, feel and smell. Obviously, it is perceived that all these organs in return pass reflexes to the brains to effect prompt and adequate necessary actions due at any point in time. These actions describe who and what an individual is at that point in time. In recent governance in Nigeria, it is very pertinent to mention that all these sense organs are illusive, faulty, malfunctioning and inadequate in our political leaders. With the circadian crying and agony alluded by citizens of the country due to the hardships and imbalance of the economy resulting in general poor standard of living, hunger, diseases and starvation, massive unemployment, increase in crime rate, inadequate social amenities, increase in embezzlement and corruption of part politicians and government officials, low standard of education.....etc. just to mention but a few, have received little or no positive and rational efforts on part of the government to control, avert or even curbed. The impacts of these vices on the economy and the country as a whole cannot be overemphasized. For instance, most of the daily horrific traffic situations in Lagos is due to bad state of the roads, activities of market women/men as well as non-compliance on part of road users. The government of a country or state is vested with constitutional powers to promulgate, formulate and implement substantial laws for the benefits of her citizens and the country as a whole and on the other hand arrest, prosecute, and punish offenders and breakers of laws and can even initiate the use force to exercise this right as the case might be. Unfortunately, with all the powers and responsibilities vested on the Nigerian government and her executives, they tend to ignore the existence and influence of these negative depravities affecting the economy and individuals in the society at large even with the daily crying and lamentations of the people. Majority of Political leaders and their allies lives amongst the people of the country and are very much aware of the destitutions been faced by them on a daily basis but turn deaf ears to the pleas of the majority. Likewise they are on social media and read the complaints and criticism by people but yet still pretend as if all is seamless and working fine. All they care about is themselves, families and interest at large. For instance, Lagos State government out of personal interest and curiosity investment in the BRT scheme overran the Lagos/Abeokuta expressway and extrude 2 lanes out of the available 6 lanes on the road for the BRT scheme leaving the remaining dilapidated 4 lanes for about 3 million daily users of the route to share without expansion and repairs of the road. Messages were sent to the relevant Lagos state government authorities, grievances were made through the social media even the government officials with their aids and allies passes through the road every day and yet nothing has been done to avert these sufferings. IS OUR GOVERNMENT BLIND DEAF AND INSENSITIVE? Increase in crime rates in major parts of Lagos such as Oshodi, Obalende and environs are due to the presence of area boys and black spots within the cosmopolitan. These boys are visible on a daily basis smoking all kind of hard drugs openly without fear of arrest or prosecution. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials passes through same itinerary everyday pretending the boys doesn’t exist even after whinges by the public no actions were taken. IS OUR GOVERNMENT BLIND DEAF AND INSENSITIVE? Even at the Federal level, majority of officials has one pending corruption case to answer or the other yet they are part of the government working tirelessly to eradicate corruption “if the foundation is faulty what will the righteous do” IS OUR GOVERNMENT BLIND, DEAF AND INSENSITIVE? A sensitive Government acknowledges the pains and sufferings of her citizens and acts timely and enormously towards making life easy for all without discrimination or fear as all citizens have equal right no matter who you are, where you come from or where you may be. NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT; PLEASE SEE, HEAR, AND BE SENSITIVE TO OUR ENTREATIES. |
