JF-17 is not a third generation fighter jet. It is fourth generation fighter jet. SU-25 is a third generation light weight bomber. While SU-27 is probably a fourth generation fighter.

Egypt bought SU-35. While Algeria has SU-30. If Nigeria wants to go for Russian fighter jet. I will recommend SU-30 for air superiority and SU-34 for air to ground attack. The US F-16 too is a fantastic fighter. We can as well go for chinese J-16. Others like the SU-35, Rafale, Euro Typhoon & F-15 may be too expensive.

The j-16 is not for sale. The Egyptians cancelled their order of the Russian built Su-35 because of CAATSA sanctions. Presently, we can't buy Russian fighter aircraft because of the Ukrainian invasion. Even before the invasion, it's difficult to purchase Russian equipment due to sanctions. In fact, presently 5 MI 35m purchased by the Nigerian Air force are still stuck in Russia because of the sanctions. Trade with Russia is banned.

It's difficult to buy American equipment. They're expensive, takes long-term to deliver. Right now, 12 Ah-1z supercobra gunships purchased by the Nigerian Air force have been delayed by the United States. We're not in the good books of the United States, especially when they are under a Democrat party administration. We could only get the Super Tucanos because Donald Trump, a republican allowed it.

The best plane we can get right now, is the Chinese J-10C. We could get em if we want em. But the Nigerian Air force hierarchy probably have their eyes on the Jf17 block 3 cos we already operate the block 2.

Even during the Balakot incident, they said they shot down a Su 30mki with a Block 2 Jf 17!

Inorder to initiate a launch simply speaking some of the steps will be as follows

1st FCS will need to be enabled to do automated pre firing checks ( everything ok or not with the various subsystems & health etc ), if FCS determines everything fine then it will ok proceed or disable further action

2nd after that Target coordinates will be recieved by system along with authentication codes , only after that further action enabled

3rd manually 2 persons have to key in authorisation to enable launch button

Also after launch within ~1 minutes self destruction mechanism of missile turns on and waits for the self destruct signal incase the launch officer decides to press self destruct button to terminate the missile in flight if so required

but the missile flew into pa... , not only flew but did 90 degree bend and ended up close to ~ 3 major bases and that too impacted into a populated area where no humans were resident at that time also if 'accidental launch' why was self destruct not triggered which will be even more easy to do 'accidentally' than the 'accidental launch '

(What is possible is that the missile changed direction midflight incorrectly and ended up where it should not have)

Everything on there is obsolescent. Most of the world's armies are operating 5th generation military systems but we are here celebrating 3rd and 4th generations. A civil war era RPG or SAM can take down any of those things there.

Some of them are even built specifically for training purposes not assault so they'll be irrelevant in international conflicts.

Only the United States developed a 5th generation aircraft in the 90s. China just started inputting their J20 5th generation planes in the year 2020. Russia is still developing the Pak-Fa, i.e Su-57 and aren't even in commercial quantities yet.

Now, tell me what you meant by most countries? America's close allies can only purchase the F35 and we all know how damn expensive that hardware is. Is Nigeria a trusted Ally of the United States? Do you see any African country operating 5th generation?

Brings back nostalgic memories of when Turkey was developing its UCAVs. Some of us here never believed that they'll be able to make that kind of technology.
Some advocated for Nigeria to partner with Turkey and other Middle markets. Others saw it like another "jamboree". A particular moniker, compared the Turks to the Iranian fifth generation aircraft; calling it Toys.
Today, the Turks are Lords in the UCAV game.
I advocate, a Nigeria-Pakistan partnership in this field. It will be highly beneficial for both countries.

The J10c fighter aircrafts have arrived Pakistan. Seems the order is for 36 but currently has arrived Pakistan.
I do believe that Nigeria have at least 5 Mi 35m in Russia. We might never get them due to consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Sanctions, CAATSA, etc. Nigeria claimed it will like to get Mig fighters from Russia, the specific type wasn't mentioned but it's speculated that it might be the 29/35 series. That wouldn't be possible anymore due to reasons stated already.

Nigeria, honestly needs fighters. This is a time for reasonable governments across the globe to build. We're much closer to World War 3 and Nuclear annihilation than ever. We need to get first grade military equipments. Our security is massively threatened.

Unless, we believe the Americans will sell us modern F16s, I do believe we need to purchase the J10c from China like our Pakistani friends did. This is the plane for us. We can't keep waiting on the JF17 block 3. We aren't even sure if they'll enter mass production yet.

So, India "accidentally" fired a cruise missile (BrahMos) on its Pakistani neighbour. I was damned surprised that sort an accident could happen following the hype of this missile and the "unquestionable competence" of the Indians. I just hope this situation doesn't escalate. The world already has enough on its plate.
Some Pakistanis are already saying Pakistan is gonna respond like the 2019 balakot incident. Hope not.
