I certainly believe our vote at the UN SC has always been our best interest.
The fate Russia does not matter to much us because we import nothing of value from them what we could not get from EU or China. They are however an unwanted competitor on the Oil and LNG market because they did refuse to join OPEC. We condemned the US invasion in Iraq at the UN as we condemn the unprovoked attack by Russia on UKR - both actions are in full line with our values.

this will be controversial but IMO as in MY Opinion South African tactics have always been superior than that of the Soviet Union, as was seen during the border war..... Even today the SANDFs problems thankfully aren't due doctrine(Suadi Arabia springs to mind) but simply due to funding and salary vs capital expenditure ratio....our tactics have always revolved around high mobility with minimum logistic and Air cover... Hence why even without air cover our boys have done outstanding in the DRC, CAR and now in Moz

Sheer assumption. War is not won by who has superior military hardware sometimes. Go back to history, and you will find out that the former formidable USSR ran away from the rag tag afghans.

It's the Ukrainians terrain, even if Russians overwhelm them, guerilla warfare would be birthed. They can't hold that country!

Nigeria, South Africa and other major countries in sub-saharan Africa need to invest in modern military equipment because economic prosperity can be sustained only when there is security guaranteed.

Citing Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, we need to have a military that can act as a deterrent to an aggressor. If an aggressor thinks about the high casualties they are going to sustain, they would be forced to rethink an invasion.

That's what I'm saying.

I'm also saying that compared to South Africa, Nigeria is in a geographically worse position.

The Nigerian army is currently an army designed to fight terrorism and LICW threats. However in the not too distant past we have fought wars against Cameroun and Chad.

Nigeria has to incrementally change it's COIN based military posture.

With the current world population at 7 billion people and growing, the effects of climate change we will see in the future wars fought purely for resource control.

A COIN posture won't help us then.
