The fact is that the person here is using his unpreparedness to face life outside Nigeria to advise others. He's discouraging others from leaving because of his own personal failings. Months from now, he'll come back to open another thread and begin to wail again. Nobody should take him seriously.
Hmmm. The person is just sharing his experience. The fact that he was able to travel and you're getting discouraged by his piece shows that you have a lot of work to do on yourself. I don't get discouraged by what people say about their experience. I have my goals and work towards them. You can also share your experience so that others will be encouraged. I guess you have a prepared life wherever you are.

But Zara and H&M aren’t designers. They’re not even mid range.

Why are sellers in Nigeria calling them designers and ripping people off?

Even Coach, Michael kors, Kate Spade etc that sell for around $300-$500 are not designers either.

I think they’re just misusing terms probably due to not understanding the fashion market. Then add greed and it becomes a clusterfk.
You don't know designer brands or what designers mean. grin grin grin

Brother, you just opened my eyes. Wow. No wonder some people said they are having 2 to 3 houses abroad. So, this is how they do it. I am saving this. You see how smart some people think? Most people mind won't even reason towards this aspect. With this, you don't need to worry about not meeting up cuz others are paying and you are using what they pay to settle the mortgage bit by bit. This is an eye opener.
You're very funny grin grin grin. What if no one rents the house? If you can't afford the mortgage without the rental income, you will be in a precarious situation. Half baked information from you brother.

Like I said. My post isn't for countries like UK and Canada. I understand that those countries are seriously overcrowded. So getting good jobs there is going to be a herculean task. My post is for the US only.

If you're highly qualified most especially in tech, you can comfortably run 2 (or more) jobs concurrently.

It's all about your niche and your skill.
It's good to have the right mindset but the truth is if you're good enough for any company, they'll sponsor you or create a job for you. The US has the best talents in the world and that makes it more competitive than any other country. RTO is also making it difficult to do multiple jobs.

That's because she travelled to the US without any degree or skill.

I have a cousin in the US who sends me links of jobs in America. Do you know that out of every 5 jobs I apply to 4 would reach out to me telling me that they can't hire me because of my location.

So if I happen to be there, I should be able to get at least 2 jobs to begin with.

This is possible because I have a very rich CV. So once any prospective recruiter looks at it, he'll definitely want to reach out.

A lot of Nigerians travel out with incomplete papers, zero or poor academic records and no skill at all. So they usually find it very difficult in getting a job. Cos no cooperate firm in the US would hire you if you lack the skill and qualifications they need.
If they really want you they will sponsor you. There are many Nigerians who work remotely for foreign companies. It's very easy to be in Nigeria say you'll get 10 jobs except you're in a high-demand field.

A friend of mine got visa and was super anxious to travel. I advised him not to rush to travel because of the cold ...winter...wait until late Spring or better ...summer. ..that winter requires appropriate clothing which is not cheap and can't be used on his return. He said he loves the cold ... used to A/C. His choice...he travelled. Spent a month locked in where he was staying ...watching TV and looking through the window. ....he didn't expect it to be so cold.

If you fail to prepare ...prepare to fail.
Your post reminds me of an incident when I took a friend from Canada on mountain climbing, he was claiming that he's very strong and rugged. At 2k feet, he started vomiting and shivering. I still remind him till today.

No. 1, your income shows you and your wife do not have skills that can command good income. But even at that and your wife working just 2 days and you working 4 days, you said you guys can still save 500pounds, that is 1million naira, Tell yourself the truth if you and your wife dey nigeria, will you guys save 1million naira per month as a family , with the skill u have and the job u will be able to do in Nigeria. Will you have access to the kind of facilities u have access to in UK.
you send 150pounds back home every month, the people u send that 150pounds to every month, if u dey Nigeria will u be able to give them 300k naira every month.

Oga you and your wife work minimum wage(which means there is room for growth if you upskill with time), you work 4 days a week, your wife works 2 days a week and you guys are still sending 300 thousand naira home every month and saving 500pounds(approx 1m naira) every month. Now let's not even convert to Naira, una fit save 6k pounds per year, while working 54 hours a week(between u and your wife)...if that is not good enough, please tell us what u guys were doing and earning in nigeria before u left
It's funny how you're analyzing his income and savings instead of you to develop yourself.
Developing valuable skills isn’t as simple as it sounds. It takes time, effort, and access to the right opportunities. I was one of the first Nigerians to obtain a certification that gave me many opportunities years ago but today that same certification is taking you nowhere.
You also need to understand that not everyone has the same learning curve or resources to develop themselves. I'm of the school of though that if you're good, you're good. Nigeria has it's challenges but it's not responsible for the excuses that people ascribe to it.

From the first UK thread he open I did tell him he was heading for a bare-mimimum living in the UK and its not surprising how it turned out for him
People can be comfortable with the bare minimum and I see nothing wrong with that. Everyone’s circumstances and priorities are different.
At the end of the day, what matters is personal fulfillment and making choices that align with one’s goals and situation.
You can also create a thread and share your ambitious history.

What I mean is: someone did MSc Business Analytics at a university in the UK. Unfortunately, due to visa issues and fierce competition, s/he cannot get a job in the industry or sister-industries or role aligned to Business Analytics. My question is: isn't it better for the person to apply to jobs in Nigeria that require someone with such skills and degree rather than settle for care jobs in the UK?
Intent matters. Many individuals who pursue degrees abroad are more interested in the opportunity to travel rather than the actual field of study. For them, staying in the UK is the priority, not necessarily securing a job in their specialized industry. That’s why they are willing to settle for any job, including care roles, just to remain in the country rather than returning to Nigeria to seek relevant opportunities. Those that return already knew they were not interested in settling in the UK.

I remember you very well..I remember engaging with your earlier thread, and wishing you the best through your ordeal at the time.

But I can't understand why you are yet again creating a thread like this one, that achieves nothing, ultimately.

I'm sure if we could turn back time, to go back to where you were mentally when you began your journey to Japa, 10001 of these kain threads would not have deterred you. So I just wonder what you hope to achieve with it now. Even Dele Momodu wey dey cap, prolly spends more than half of the year overseas.

These kain decisions should be left to each person to make and deal with. No need for convincing or explaining. It is pointless! I don taya to dey read this kain threads for here aswear

Those that think it best to stay in Naija should be left alone, as they have the conviction that they know what they are doing. Those that think is best to Japa should be left alone, as they also have the conviction that they know what they are doing...

All this shalaye is not necessary
Did the post irk you? Adults are generally presumed to be competent and responsible for their decisions, and are expected to manage their own affairs and make decisions about their lives, including travels. Don't take it personal, travelling will always be a burning issue and I don't expect any adult to make decisions based on a post by a stranger.

Japa is not a one-size-fits-all decision. If you have ₦30M and solid income streams in Nigeria, it might be wiser to invest and build wealth at home. But if safety and quality of life matter more, than wealth accumulation then relocating might still be the best option but must be done tactically especially when coming on student visa as one academic error could throw u off.
Thanks for sharing your views. We need others to share their experiences as well. This has been lacking on this platform.

It takes less than 45 minutes to load a truck manually and it takes less than 5 minutes to load a truck automatically . Now you claimed you are loading automatically but why is it taking eternity to load trucks? Stop all these lies and be responsible once in your life.
The NSChE is a professional body respected worldwide. If you're a member, it may change change your life. I don't know if you're a truck driver but loading trucks is different from refinery operations. It takes a longer time to send products to the storage tanks than offloading the products. Think of a water storage tank, it takes a longer time to pump water into the tank than emptying the tanks. 33 trucks can empty the PMS storage tanks and it'll be till the following day before another 33 trucks can load again.

Pay no attention to the guy and his like. Many of them have not a single brain cell between their ears. They are poorly educated, they do not engage their brains, they take their direction from people who themselves are ignorant.

Many of them do not know the meaning of “blending”. The Refinery in PH is working and never stopped working. Many of them do not know that all refineries blend even Dangote blends.

It was painful as a Nigerian to listen to Adesua and Seyitan embarrass themselves when the president of the Nigerian society of chemical engineers tried severally to explain the process to them and they still could not understand. They claim to be journalists. If our news stations feeding his likes do no investigation of their own, do not send their journalists to investigate, you can’t blame his like for being ignorant.

I just listened to the interview and this is the first time that I'm seeing a SME speaking about refineries. He was very simple and clear but the likes of Eriokanmi will still not understand. I wouldn't blame Adesua and Seyitan, they represent the average Nigerian public. This is a very simple issue and a science subject that's taught in secondary schools. For non-science students a simple Google search will provide a clear explanation. It tells a lot about the media in Nigeria.

Eriokanmi:
grin. Your post simply describes your IQ and maturity levels. Google the meaning of IIoT . That's what my company does with the Dangote refineries, Total and SPDC facilities. Only by doing this would you tell if I'm relevant in the sector or not. I'd end it that way.

As you now know better how a refinery works than I do, let's see what happens to the PH refineries in coming days. I predicted it would be shut down cos it was an arrangee setting and it happened even earlier than the duration predicted.
That refinery will never be effective cos only a fragment of it was touched by TAM and for blending purposes. The best bet is sell it off as scrap.
grin grin grin I know your type very well. I checked and didn't find anything online for IIoT. Now you go online and tell me what the USEPA does for the world. I first went to the PH refinery at the age of 10. I don't need any media to tell me what's happening there. I've executed contracts there and I have engineers working there that I can call to find out what's happening. The media have been awash with nonsensical reporting. They don't invite professionals to speak on subject matters and they don't investigate issues.
You work for SPDC, Total and Dangote and you're saying "blending plant", I laugh in Arabic. You don't know that all products are blended.
You see why I said a good secondary school graduate can filter through the noise. PMS is a blend of straight-chain and branched alkanes, cycloalkanes and aromatic compounds. Diesel is a blend of Aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. Your company works for Dangote, tell us how Dangote produces PMS. What type of CDU are they using? How's the SFN built? Let's start from there.

Read what I posted the day they deceived you as usual, that the refinery had commenced operation. But i doubt you will. What I said would happen had happened. It's you guys who look irredeemable cos despite the obvious , you still swallowed their usual lies hook, line and sinker without reasoning.

Redeem yourself from gullibility my friend. It's a disease and very dangerous to the growth and development of Nigeria.
I did read it. Your posts are usually brooding and sulking. You don't know anything about refineries and the operation of refineries. Even a secondary school graduate should be able to filter through the noise because the refinery has been working. I don't have a problem with your views or opinions on any matter but I do when individuals display stupidity and are vehemently ignorant.
If you think you know anything about the PH refinery I'll challenge you to a live debate. You misanthrope.

@ topic. I believe he has a point ...but he is including all women. Women are naturally attracted to well built men ...and well built men are usually in the gym ...if not already built ...getting there. The women who will most likely be carried away are those whose husbands or guys are not in shape... the pot belly ones ... the flabby ones ... obese ones... the ones who are always too busy ...or too tired..... and there are manyyyy such men. They....need to sit up and pay attention.
It's same way men are attracted to physically fit women. Fitness is a holistic concept that everyone needs. You should understand that women need the gyms as much as the men. If you don't want your girl to go to the gym, purchase the equipment in the house.
Saying your girl should not go to the gym for whatever reason is not different from telling women not to go to pursue higher education because of the level of immorality in schools.

Just at a crossroad, I currently work for an FCMG in Nigeria currently go home with about 1.7m monthly as income after tax, also have some other benefits, I got my PR since 2022 and did my soft landing with my family and came back to Naija 2023. Since then I have been job hunting in Canada, lately and got a contract job with an IT firm, the pay not so fantastic but it is more than enough to me the needs of myself and my family. The contract is for 7months as I am reliefing someone who is on a long leave. Wondering if I should just resign in my current job and move with my family to canada. The contract job I got is exactly what I do today in my naija job with the same grade, just contract.

What do you guys think, just so you know i current support the house 100%, I spend like 800k to run the house in this Tpain economy and usually endup saving 900k monthly. I have also been hearing alot of stories on the challenges in Canada and how canada is beginning to change its immigration policy, I dont want to loose my PR.
What was your motivation for applying for the PR?
I guess you're aware you must meet certain obligations to maintain status.
