Babbyad: You shouldn't have resubmitted that exact documents. You should have augmented the RFE sent to you. Those guys are thorough. They hardly make mistakes. You might eventually be given NOID later on.. Things have changed. Most people don't know the kind of pressure these guys face. The workload is much. A friend had to resign because of the workload. Then some layoffs for an understaffed institution. If you had the opportunity to read the RFE and the original petition, you'll understand better. I've seen/heard more mistakes this year than ever. The educational requirements for those working in that unit is high but the burnout is real. 98 % approval rate to 40% is not as a result of less qualified candidates. There are a lot of dynamics at play. |

JohnPhysics: Good morning everyone,
I recently transferred my case from Lagos to Frankfurt and I’m currently waiting for my Interview Letter (IL). However, for the past 14 months, I’ve been unable to secure a family reunion visa for my wife and children.
I also tried to explore getting a Schengen visa for them through another country, but I was told they would only get a maximum of 10 days. That’s not enough time to complete medicals and the rest of the process.
Should I get IL from Frankfurt, I will be faced with the me in Frankfurt and my family in Nigeria- how do I navigate this?
Please, I’m asking for advice. If anyone here is in a similar situation; living outside Nigeria (excluding the USA); and you successfully navigated this with your dependents back in Nigeria, I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience. Feel free to DM me or share it here, whichever is more convenient.
Like they say, “who ask questions no dey miss road.”
Thank you !. I had no idea that German family reunion visa is difficult for immediate family members. Do you have an ETA for your IL? You have the option of attending the interview alone, receive your immigrant visa and file I-824. Your dependents can complete their process in Lagos. Did you confirm the maximum stay for the Schengen visa? You may want to confirm that to make sure you have the accurate information. |

Eilenora: Hello All, Received an RFE and unsure where to start. Applying for EB2, Background law with over 15years experience in regulatory compliance and anti money laundering. I have an award, professional memberships, publications and reference letters. I incorporated a Company in USA for credibility. Also did a patent and have a sound business case. Got potential investment letters for AML business idea. Used an agent who has prepared a response to the FRE, but need a 2nd eye. Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know of your case but I noticed that the RFE that I received for a friend was already included in the original petition. I stated that the RFE was issued in error because the requested evidence was already included. Re-summited the exact same documents, but this time highlight the relevant sections I clearly pointed out exactly where the requested information can be found in the original filing. If you have filled in 22/23 you would have been approved in a flash but the approval rate now is alarming. They don't read the petitions thoroughly. Present govt policy is also a factor. |

linearity: The truth is, the so-called US debt is only big on paper.
US debts are in US currencies, and the US Central Bank if they wish can print dollars tomorrow to settle those debts.
It is unlike Nigeria and other Africa countries debts, which are majorly held in US dollars and which Nigeria can't print but must earn.
Lastly 80% of US debts are owe to the Public, and two-third of this, which is about 53% of the overall debts is owe to US entities likes the US Federal Reserve, US Mutual Funds, US States & Local Governments, US Pension Funds, US Insurance Companies, etc...
Since the US dollar is not tied to gold Reserves, the Federal Reserve is capable of printing enough dollars to write off these debts but they would not, just to keep the scheme going on. The Feds can technically print enough US dollars but printing enough dollars to write off these debts is NO. It's not the Feds responsibility to pay off national debt and the govt doesn't control the feds. Why it's impossible for the feds to do so is my post above. |

PythonPro001: I need answers to these questions: 1. Who exactly is the US owing this humongous sum of money ? 2. When and why did the US, a supposedly wealthy nation, borrow this money ? 3. If it is so important to pay off the debt, why isn't printing new dollars an option ? These are brilliant questions. There's a long and short answer. Find the short answer below. Figures are approximated. 1. Who exactly is the US owing this humongous sum of money ? US Debt is 34 T USD Public Debt The money owned to individuals, businesses, foreign governments, and investors Intragovernment holdings The money that govt owes itself. This is like ministry A lends money to ministry B, since the money is not with ministry A, it's recorded as debt until the money is repaid. The focus is on public debt Public debt - 27 T Intragovernment holdings - 7 T Ownership of public debt. Domestic Holders - 70 % Foreign Holders - 30 % Top foreign holders include Japan and China 2. When and why did the US, a supposedly wealthy nation, borrow this money ? Debt is as a result of budget deficits. Government spends more than it collects. The high debt is proof that she's a rich nation. The debt keeps increasing as the deficit increases each year. Debt plays a positive role in an economy when used responsibly. 3. If it is so important to pay off the debt, why isn't printing new dollars an option The govt can't print money to wipe off the debt for several reasons although, the government issues its own currency. 1. The debt won't go away but it will increase 2. No one will buy US treasuries 3. It would erode the value of the dollar and Inflation will set in. 4. The govt doesn't print money but the Federal reserve does and they're an independent institution. 5. Printing money is not the solution but will make matters worse. |

Raph14: Good day everyone, I’m new here and I need your help.
I recently had my U.S. visa refused under Section 214(b), and I’m currently planning to reapply. I’ve already deferred my admission to Spring 2026 so I can properly address any concerns that may have led to the refusal.
A bit about my background:
I hold a National Diploma in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
I have over 10 years of professional experience working as a System Administrator and IT Support Specialist.
In 2024, I launched my own Cybersecurity and IT startup, which is registered with CAC.
The main reason I’m pursuing a Master’s degree now is because I believe I need advanced knowledge in Cybersecurity to properly scale and lead my company towards the vision I have for it.
I’m single by personal choice and in my early 40s.
My visa interview experience: I arrived at the embassy around 6:00 a.m. for my 7:00 a.m. appointment. People scheduled for 6:30 and 6:45 a.m. were already being called in, and eventually, those of us with 7:00 a.m. slots were also let in around 6:45.
After the security checks and administrative processing, I joined the queue for the visa interview. It was a tense atmosphere — one of the officers at Window 3, a young man likely in his early 30s, seemed very strict and was issuing a lot of refusals. I was really hoping not to end up at his window.
Thankfully, I was directed to a female officer, who had just interviewed and approved a woman who needed an interpreter. However, before me, I also saw her issue several refusals.
When it was finally my turn, the interview felt rushed. I tried to present my case clearly, but I wasn’t asked many follow-up questions. In the end, I was handed a blue refusal sheet under 214(b).
Transcript: F-1 Visa Refused. Attempt: First time Interview date: June 30, 2025 Interview Time: 7:00am Location: Lagos, Nigeria GWU. MSc in Cybersecurity.
Me: Good morning, officer.
VO: Good morning.
Me: How are you doing, Ma?
VO: Pass me your passport.
I placed my passport and I-20 in the tray. She scanned my passport.
VO: You were refused a Canadian visa in 2024? Me: No, ma, in 2023 and 2024, I was refused a Canada Visa. The refusal was due to insufficient funds, as noted in the IRCC letters. However, my financial situation has since improved. I now have a merit scholarship from GW, and I’m on paid study leave from my current employer.
VO: I see you’re going to GW for a Master’s in Cybersecurity.
Me: Yes, ma’am. I’m going for my master’s in Cybersecurity to gain global exposure, and this course will equip me with advanced skills in cybersecurity—both technical and strategic, so I can better protect digital assets, respond to threats, and lead cybersecurity projects. Once I am done with the program, I plan to return to my current employer to take on senior roles.
NB: The reason I didn’t stop at simply answering “Yes” was because I had observed her while she interviewed others. She rarely asked more than three questions, and by the third, she usually seemed to have made up her mind. That’s why I decided to include information about my ties to home, just in case she didn’t ask any follow-up questions.
VO: Who is funding your education?
Me: Thank you for that question, officer. I received a merit scholarship from GWU covering my tuition—$xxxx, "My deficit is $25,000 after the scholarship". I have personal savings XX amount and study leave salary from current employer of xx amount to cover my living expenses, books and health.
At this point, she interrupted with “OK” and she stood up, moved away briefly like someone that want to stretch her body, and returned. I offered to show my bank statement, study leave approval from employer and scholarship documents, but she said it wasn’t necessary.
As I attempted to continue, she said, “Thank you for applying for a U.S. visa,” and initially picked up a white sheet, but then switched to the blue refusal sheet and said, “I’m refusing your visa. The blue sheet explains all the details.”
The whole experience was emotionally draining — watching people get denied one after the other while waiting for your turn is not easy. I agree that it can be an emotionally draining experience. You blurred out your savings so I can't tell if you can cover your expenses. The deficit is also high. The reason for the denial is in the notes - so you know your circumstances better than anyone. Well, you have the option of applying again. You can study the course online in many US universities. You can try another country for your study. You can also try other visa routes to the US if your intention is to migrate. I wish you the very best. |

Those in Lagos and other places where capacity is still low should enjoy Starlink even the more. An engineer posted the attached screenshot yesterday on Reddit. They've been very busy with upgrades. This is at AMS-IX. From 2x10 in Dec 22 to 2x100 in Oct 23 to 2x300g in Apr 25 and now with an additional 300 gives 900 in July 25.

There's no need misleading folks. This forum is full of false information and you and I have a responsibility to state correct information. The 90-day visa validity information is also on their website

Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by studyless123: 10:09pm On Apr 07, 2025 |
ask4bk: You are getting it all wrong again. US has never been congested for starlink. Only parts of US are congested, not USA. Don't confuse part with whole. If entire Nigeria is indicated as congested on their site it tells you the reason isn't about congestion but something else. So as not to speculate Starlink Nigeria literally confirmed they are pausing their service for conflict reasons with NCC. You don't need to cook up another reason apart from that which they confirmed.
I'm thinking selflessly? In same message to Nigerian they said if it isn't resolved they could terminate their service in Nigeria (which I know isn't gonna happen though). But it's you who is also being selfish. Some of us live in forests without mobile network. We will do anything to pay for starlink to come online. If its 38k for all, we are happy, but if 75k is only way out to help me get Internet like everyone, then I'm ready to pay that too. I just don't want starlink getting pissed off and leaving Nigeria and I'm offline while you just simply switch to mtn coz you've options. You are also being selfish for wanting someone's business to fail because you want cheap prices. He's not the one depreciating your naira. How can he run his business with $20 per client when in other places it's $43 or even $150 for Europe. They are destroying the man's Tesla everywhere too and you want him to do father Christmas for you. Blame your govt, not Elon Musk or starlink. They can't give you a service at a loss.
If you can't afford starlink, move to the option you can. If not, you can also fight for lamborgini to be sold for 2m naira so that every Nigerian can afford it Sir, like I stated earlier calm down and learn. Life is not only about you, I know you use it for business but everyone else should not burn because of you. Starlink signed regulatory policies and if they can't keep up with it, they can pack and go. Price increase should be approved and whatever price they set is the least of my issue. I don't care about the price. I know many individuals that pay more that that monthly. I can't use it because it's a CGNAT and I don't like their implementation because they use semi-static blocks of ports for connection. I was paying about 1k USD for ISP over 15 years ago and wouldn't have issue paying same today. You also don't have to tell lies to prove a point. The reason for the waitlist is clearly stated on their website, any other reason you're giving is your opinion. Concentrate on your last mile connections which was what I did 20 years ago. People will appreciate you for that. |
Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by studyless123: 11:39am On Apr 07, 2025 |
ask4bk: If I knew the native language you spoke I'll type in it and repeat that starlink didn't stop receiving new subscribers because of over capacity but because of NCC price regulations that doesn't favour them. Starlink charges all African countries $43 which is 75k today of which we are lucky coz outside Africa it's $130 montly. NCC forcing them to maintain 38k which is $22 or so isn't good for their business.
An entire country can't be over capacity. Only cities and particular areas based on the congestion of many users in that one spot. Right now, even Sambisa forest can't sub for starlink and maybe there's only 1-3 starlinks there used by Boko haram. That usage can't put borno over capacity.
Its only about price regulations and that's all. If you give me your local language I can use Google translator and convert it to your language for better comprehension. All you've been shouting is I can afford it, I make money from it, everyone else can burn and the govt must support lawlessness. The issue is not about price increase but following due process before price increase. ISPs must sought regulatory approval before increasing prices and Starlink failed to do so. That to you doesn't matter, and they must not leave no matter what they do, but I'll educate you. 1. Let's concede, they followed due process and increased the prices to 75k. The entry price of 38k is above the affordability threshold of most Nigerians and 75k means only the rich in our society will use the service. Please don't compare prices in Nigeria to other African countries, if you've lived there you've lived in other sub-Sahara countries, you'll understand why prices should be cheaper in Nigeria. 2. Govt have the right to regulate prices in the telecoms sector. The state of New York (a very rich state compared to Nigeria) requires ISPs to offer an entry price of $15. AT&T said they're leaving, others adjusted. $15 can't get you a good lunch in NY but you can get a good internet service for an entire month. 3. If you understand the business model of Starlink, you'll understand it's a numbers game. It's better for them to accept new subscribers at the current price than operating with the same number (use your head). 4. Forget about the noise, they are upgrading their facilities and once they're done with the first phase, they'll accept more subscribers and maybe also give you the price increase that you so much desire. 5. The US is their largest market, some people were on wait list for about 2 years and now they charge a congestion fee of $100 in addition to the cost of equipment. They also place Nigerian orders on a waitlist stating they're congested and when they're ready, they'll fulfill the orders. Sir, don't think only about yourself and that will help you to reason better. |

Angelfrost: You are either deliberately missing my point or unable to see and process it.
I have never had anything against coming back to invest or enjoy one's country, and I didn't imply that.
My issue is with the hypocrisy or pretense of acting like you never achieved or gained anything from relocating abroad in the first place... Which for most of these returnees, is quite far from the truth.
A lot of them try to diminish the gains of living and working abroad which is unfair to those nations that gave them the opportunities for bettering their lives.
Everyone can do what he or she desires without throwing shades at either sides (Nigeria or other nations).
It's quite simple!
...And by the way, there is a general economic decline globally, but let's not go there!.
Nigeria has been declining steadily for over a decade now in almost every sector. If that is your point, I'll have to agree with you. Being outside the country gives you the opportunity to reflect and strategize. You have a higher chance of being successful in business when you've lived outside the country. It's one of the reasons while I encourage others to travel because it's gives you a bird's eye view of the world. |

Angelfrost: Okay... I don't disagree totally with you about opportunities in Nigeria.
But, where are there no opportunities?!! Even in Syria and Ukraine, there are still wealth making opportunities.
But, it will take serious wealth and influence to harness or even access them fully.
Well, we are all correct anyway.
Happy weekend! Being outside the country gives you the opportunity to reflect and stratigize. You have a higher chance of being successful. To be successful in any business enviroment, you need to understand the business enviroment/market and have a comparative advantage. It's one of the reasons while I also failed in my businesses. For wealth and influence that's a misconception and a mental inhibition that prevents many from going into the business space. The success of any business is not dependent on the startup capital. One of the major issue is that many Nigerians are not interested in consulting professional services. The believe is that one can always wiggle their way through the business landscape. |

Angelfrost: Lol... What they never tell you is that they are relocating back to Nigeria with a Blue passport which they can always use to fly back or to any other nation at the slightest chance or need.
I know at least 6 of such people talking about relocating back to Nigeria...!
It is not difficult to understand why they would want to do that... I mean, who wouldn't?!!
With what they have saved up, they can actually live comfortably anywhere in Nigeria without stress.
Most of the Nigerians they left behind to move abroad years ago can't afford to live such lives in the same country.
It's okay to come back to Naija for the sake of familiarity and native comforts, but can we stop pretending that this nation became better after you left?!! Or that you are not returning far better than when you left. Generally speaking all nations are on a decline and as someone said the world is on a tipping edge. It's expected to return better so that you can make your contribution to the country. Such individuals should be commended rather than the unnecessary arguments we always put forward in our defense of their relocation. Many returnees have made tremendous impact on the economy of the country. |

ask4bk: The problem is not about over sub.... They themselves confirmed it's because of NCC that are not letting in new subscribers If the NCC told them to stop accepting new subscribers that will be a good move, because the service is subpar compared to other countries so adding more subscribers will make it worse. The last time I checked you have to be on a waitlist which is common when they're out of capacity. |

ask4bk: I love how you stated they approved it by mistake. Nigeria doesn't like what is good for her citizens. When they finally saw that Nigerians even in rural places can now be productive with starlink they realised their mistake and now trying to frustrate and kick them away to make Nigerians suffer.
Even at 75k, starlink has no competition in terms of value of money and service.
Also, never you say starlink can't go. They themselves said it in their dezember message to everyone that if the NCC does not come up to a good compromise with them, they will leave the Nigerian market. Why do you guys always like false narratives. As at last year Nigeria was the only Africa country with ground stations. Starlink underestimated the market and poor planning led to traffic congestion. There's a lot of work going on in the Nigerian infrastructure and the African market. If they're planning to leave, they won't be spending more money on upscaling. Kuiper is on track and will also be in the Nigeria market. OneWeb is gradually expanding and already in the African market. |

dustmalik: Starlink has introduced Gen3 V4 kit to the Nigerian market, but yet to open up residential registration. Only those in areas where business plans are still available for registration can get it for now.
The NCC needs to come to a compromise with Starlink soon, this thing has dragged long enough. What did the NCC do? Starlink is oversubscribed and it only makes sense to stop accepting new subscribers. They are actively working on their ground station & PoP. Unnecessary hype about the Gen3 kits, no significant difference in terms of speed. After the expansion, things will improve. |

basilico: They can build them in America. And still build others for the rest of the world in China Unfortunately American doesn't have what it takes to manufacture iPhones and if it did it will be more than that amount. |

Iweakbro: How about goods imported by the Chinese, who bears the tariff? Isn't it their consumers? Everyone will get hurt. You're right. Tariffs imposed by the Chinese govt will be borne by the Chinese. The advantage they have is they depend less on the US. I hope you get it. |

Chienex24: I pity you people that think US currency becoming the global currency after becoming a global power is cheating. Let us not go into what brought them into power after world war 1 and 2, and how they channelled this power to institutions so they can reach out to countries in need of aid and help them out. China is what it is today because it benefited from the so called "global dollar" you are condemning. Maybe Hitler could have won so every country in the world will be subject to them and and pay them taxes. You need to understand how currency works. Read about what happened in 1973 and why that was done. You should understand that no tangible asset is backing the USD. That's why it's called fiat currency. That's what the US have used to their advantage. When you understand these foundational and historical narratives, you'll understand that the US is taking advantage of the world via it's USD. |

Chienex24: Go and look at the tarrifs imposed on US products coming to their countries, and you will be shocked, including Nigeria. No wonder goods imported from USA are more expensive and that is why most traders prefer the Chinese market.
Also, the American consumers will bear the brunt, which will discourage purchase of foreign products and services, and boost local production... Basic Economics 1. Those numbers are made up. Don't easily get carried away. 2. The issue is not about being expensive. Tariffs are used to protect local markets. 3. The EU exports machinery and vehicles, chemicals to the US. 4. A trade surplus doesn't necessary means a health economy. China has a trade surplus of about 1 trillion USD but doesn't have the best economy. A trade deficit also doesn't mean a bad economy. 5. True the American consumers will bear the brunt, in few cases it will discourage some foreign products but that is not true for majority of goods and services. For example the US imports about 99% of coffee because it doesn't it, a tariff on coffee means consumers will spend more because there's no local alternative. No US city have what it takes to manufacture an iPhone so no matter the tariff, the consumers will just keep suffering. The same is true for many good and services. It's not as straight as you think sir. |

Treadway: I'm making an educated guess that it won't get to that. Everyone will have to come to the negotiation table sooner than later, which I believe is the whole point of all this gragra wey DJT dey do. As they say, the end justifies the means. I'm tempted to align with your logic. Let's see how the script plays out. |
