Is there anyone here waiting to be DQ’d ? I submitted all my documents to NVC several weeks ago but still waiting to receive notice that I have been documentarily qualified
What does your status show on the portal? Please note that there's no specific term stating DQ.
DQ simply means NVC have reviewed your documents and fees and you're good to go. But that review only takes place after you've paid their fees.
The next stage is waiting for an interview date.
TravelRe: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by studyless123: 1:08pm On Jul 04, 2024
PearlnPearl:
Your case is very similar to mine.

I applied from Nigeria and had a similar experience. I submitted my documents to the NVC in late October 2023, even though my Priority Date (PD) was January 2023 and not yet current. In November 2023, I received an acknowledgment from NVC that they had received my documents and would contact me when a visa was available. However, this acknowledgment did not mean I was documentary qualified (DQ).

My PD became current in the June bulletin for July 2024, and on July 1, 2024, I received an email from NVC indicating that I was now DQ. This means the NVC acknowledgment is different from the DQ notification.

So, my advice is for you to hang in there. My wait period after receiving an acknowledgment of the receipt of my documents from NVC was about 7 months.
That acknowledgement means you're DQ. The DQ process is pretty fast usually from 2-21 days. If outside of that range, the applicant/petitioner is missing something.

On the DQ

I think I now understand a bit better.

I would conclude that DQ is a function of being current. It seems one can not be DQ without being current. One can only receive the acknowledgement email.

Also, I think the acknowledgement of the "receipt of the fee and all required documents needed for the scheduling of an interview" is the last important thing that an applicant needs to achieve on his/her own (that is, within his/her power). The rest are based on the movement of dates.

I have received the acknowledgement email in November 2023. I was also partly wondering if that was the DQ. But now I know.

Anyway, to me, the most important thing is the content of the email which says I "have everything in order, and awaiting interview". That was why I didn't bother. And I know I'm not current yet.
That email/letter means you're DQ.

Una eye go soon clear. How will Oshiomhole suffer if Monday Okpebholo loses the election? Lol 🤣🤣🤣 I just dey laff u.

Monday Okpebholo has since lost this election. Asue Ighodalo is even closer to Oshiomhole than Okpebholo. Save this comment.
You can ask questions if you don't know what's happening politically. I'm not here
for callow & shallow conversations. I'm not partisan. So whoever wins my services to EDSG
remains.

There are at least 5 reasons why Oshomole must deliver his zone.

His political relevance is tied to his winning his zone, if he loses the zone, that's the end for him politically and it will be obvious he was anti-party.

He singlehanded picked the current & past ministers from Edo state, he'll lose those priviledges if he can't deliver.

Oshomole is vindictive and he'll repay the Govonor.

He's a party man to the core but seeks to stamp his authority. (It's easier for POI and co to engage in antiparty)

He must be repay his benefactor (I guess you know who)

The election is for APC to lose.

Since you're 100% sure Monday has lost the election are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?

Indispensable85:
Una too funny ooo 🤣🤣🤣
What's the use of a voting population you can't get majority votes from? It's not just about the population but the votes you can get from it. It's like choosing datti Ahmed as LP vice presidential candidate because of the population of Kaduna. How much votes was he able to get from the Kaduna eventually? Lol 🤣🤣🤣

When you pick a deputy, pick someone that has a substantial influence on his district or at least can win his LGA to complement his principal.

It's about the capacity of the person to gather votes not necessarily the population of the LGA. You can pick a person from Egor or oredo or ikpoba okha and he ends up losing his polling unit, ward and LGA. You can't give what you don't have bro
You don't need to win your ward or LGA to win the general elections and that has been proven again and again. BAT didn't win his state and Shaibu didn't win his LGA.

Rev. Okpebholo is a native of UROMI.

Senator Monday Okpebholo is a native of UWESSAN-IRRUA.

Senator Monday Okpebholo suffered and grew up as AN ORPHAN. That is why he is a KIND man.

Senator Monday Okpebholo is MY YOUNGER KINSMAN in Uwessan-Irrua and I was his TEACHER in Ujabhole Grammar School, UWESSAN-IRRUA.

You will correct and get tired. People will just keep saying what they don't know. The worst part is them saying it with authority. I know the Okpebholo's is common in esan land. Matthew Okpebholo and some Okpeholo's are from Uromi.

This is the next governor of Edo state but first of all he must take the following steps;
Firstly, visit senator oshiomhole and apologize, pledging your total loyalty.offer him the running mate slot, ssg, chief of staff,70% of commissioners, all federal slots and a huge amount of gift.

Secondly, visit and liaise with hon denco and offer him a hand of friendship and reconciliation.do same to other aggrieved party stakeholders and aspirants like indispensable85.

Thirdly, strike a deal wit deputy governor shuaibu and other aggrieved members of the Dan orbih faction
The bolded is totally unnecessary and will never be done. One man will never dictate Edo politics again.

Right now it's improbable that Monday will lose.
If he lose, Oshomole will suffer the greatest loss.
So Oshomole is under obligation to deliver his zone.
Monday should get at least 50% from his zone and get at least 30% from the south.

The PDP candidate is sound but he has a bad manager. The governor is frantically trying to engage on a lot of projects which is a good development. He setup a team that can deliver but he has a lot going against him. Imposition, incompetence and betrayals. His conduct of the last elections also irked the electorates.

LP candidate is on a dilemma. (There's a reason why the other faction produced a candidate)
The issue will be clear soon. A meeting is taking place today.

6 months is a long time for the tide to sway but based on feelers and the present political climate, it's a straight win for Monday.

Moreover, the current national chairman of APC was caught on camera stuffing his babariga with dollars, which are proceeds of bribery and corruption, when he was governor of Kano State, and today he is walking free.
Do you know him? Have you had dealings with him? Do you know how he became national chairman? Do you know the meaning of trump up charges?
Abure was released just because of the primary elections in Benin City. His boys in zone 5 are already singing songs. Now they're saying Devil & Abure pushed them.
Abure have several cases against him. From ministry of Justice to several individuals within the Labour party. Now he had illegal possession of arms. I warned him several times but he said it's politics. If you accuse the current govt of corruption, does that excuse him? The records are there because he's not smart, transfers and transactions, forgery on cheques and other documents. The IGP authorization is fully resident in zone 5. He cannot escape and will pay dearly for his criminality.
Watch out as events start unfolding from next week. Come to zone 5 on Monday and said it trump up charges and then later you'll start blaming the devil for controlling your sentiments.

Just got this email from WorldRemit.

Seems CBN has quietly re-introduced their policy where people abroad can no longer send foriegn currency directly to folks in Nigeria. Folks in Nigeria now can only receive the naira equivalent of the money sent.

I've checked Western Union and seems to be the same as well. Moneygram still allows dollars to be sent, but can only be picked up. Can't send to a dorm account any more.
I have checked and haven't seen any news on this.
It actually depends on how you want to send. There are other means of sending fx directly to folks in Nigeria. But the folks in Nigeria can withdraw the fx over the counter for the most part. So it makes sense if the companies you mentioned don't want to transfer the fx directly since the recipients can't withdraw it.

airsaylongcome:
What is the problem with storing wealth in USD to retain value? In 2018, I lost my well paying job and was left with a “huge” amount of over 2m in RSA. Today that 2m is worthless compared to what I could have done with it in 2018. There’s absolutely no need to go after foreign remote workers with your proposal. Otherwise, many would hold their money in offshore accounts using apps like Wise or Payoneer to the detriment of the banking system here
You can actually store wealth in Fx and there's nothing wrong with it. However you can't withdraw locally and using offshore accounts will not help you except you also want to use the funds offshore.

There are many ways to do it. Nigerians like more money. Since they cannot have their dollar either in bank or in cash, why would they send dollar?
They will get someone who will send naira and collect dollar. Dollar remain in dollar economy and naira remain in naira economy.
If you don't know, europe discourge nigerians send foreign exchange home.
You actually don't know the meaning of the bolded. I know you also don't understand the policy and basic economics so you write whatever you think. The bolded is not possible but that's every government's wish.

ITbomb:
Bank FX rates and BDC are almost the same now, so it won't matter much.

My only issue is that they should leave dom account for people who wishes to transact internationally (send out)
The option is still there. Your foreign currency will remain in your bank account as long as you want. You can make transfers & purchases but for the most part can't collect foreign currency it over the counter.

Mavor:
Nigeria will have a serious FX inflow problem. No one will use banks with their rubbish FX rate. Crypto all the way!
Nothing will change in FX inflow. Crypto has it risks and now there's no difference. The business man sending 100K USD to Nigeria will 100% prefer to use the banks than crypto.

ifinger:
Does it mean one can now withdraw naira equivalent from a domiciliary account in Nigeria?
You can withdraw NGN equivalent but can't withdraw USD over the counter.

As you're aware the category is new and similar to the Best Global Music Performance. It has nothing to stage performances like you claimed. I only wanted to draw your attention to the fact that the music is bigger than the others in terms of charts. I only responded because you said it's not big and I said the charts prove otherwise. These were the numbers in Spotify before the awards. Like they say numbers don't lie. So if it's in terms of charts it was deserving.

Tyla's Water 380 M
Ayra's Rush 320 M
Davido Unavaibale 123 M

Do they change their own names for us, no? I named my daughter my Yoruba name...she wanted to use middle name to help the teachers cos it is in English...I told her...teach them how to pronounce your name...that is your official name. Now, everyone calls her by her name .... OLUWATOSIN. You cannot conform...everyone must meet in the middle. I learn your culture, you learn mine. When we remain timid, we set a precedent for future generations. We can correct without being disrespectful.
It's a lost battle. Colonization have left many of us with ethnic and cultural inferiority. Many Nigerians don't have intellectual perseverance/courage and so they easily give in to be seen as adaptable. Unfortunately we can't help the situation. Like the example you gave, I know individuals who gave themselves and English names for ease of pronunciation grin.
Ironically I promoted my Nigerian name and taught them how to pronounce it, they're always excited, teaching them the missing English sounds and making a recording of my name so that they can have it on their cell phones. When I was an executive of Black affinity groups. I also fought for diversity and inclusion. Anywhere I go I teach and promote my culture and refer them to resources where they can get more information.

We forget that the award was for performance, the artist with the best performance for the submitted song for the year under review. And with Rush, the song was a hit no doubt, enjoyed international and local radio play, but there's just a hand full of live performance of the song from Ayra. Unlike Water by Tyla. Her team promoted the song so well, booked her shows on many live TV shows and her dancing and live singing skills won the voters over.

Water isn't as big as any of those songs in that category, but her live shows outperformed all the songs there. Davido would be the first Runner-up for me. His performance of unavailable on Jimmy Kimmel Live show was dope too.
That's not correct. The song is bigger than the other songs in the category. You can't use your experience in Nigeria to determine that. She has more radio plays and streams.

As at last year “Water” rises from No. 2 to rule the chart after a 15% jump in plays that made it the most played song on U.S. monitored rhythmic radio stations in the week of Dec. 1–7, according to Luminate.
A top stream song on Spotify where none of the other songs are not even in the top 20. I know it's not big in Nigeria but there's no single day the song is not played on radio from late last year till date.

cc; studyless123 (As you see, I was right regarding the migration of black folks from the north and the preponderance of black people in Southern US. Texas is home to more black people than any other state.)
The South has always been the dominant residence for the Blacks.
They migrated to the North due to several reasons including jobs, segregation and war.
Over the years the North has been diminishing in returns and we're experiencing the reverse of such migration.

In terms of Population Texas have the largest number but that's about 16% of the population.
In terms of city. NYC have the largest black population
In terms of % Mississippi and South Carolina are at about 45% and 40% respectively.

My fellow Nairalander , we are both doing a voluntary work or job and we still have to gain from one another . For the sake of others who may not know ... In the DS 160 section or if the visa officer says ..Who is paying for your trip ? Or who is covering your trip ?

1. Its a tricky question , most people thinks because trip means a short journey or travel , therefore it means who is paying for your flight ticket or air fare . NO !

*** It means Who is your sponsor ?

Best Wishes 🙏
If you agree we're both doing a voluntary, it will always be better we ask questions for clarity rather than raising alarms.

If I agree with your assumption, you'll still be wrong anyway. In my case I had my dad details as my sponsor. Many people fill their Nigerian organization or other Nigerian relatives.

It goes back to my initial post that you don't need to be a USC/GC to be a sponsor. My dad was not a USC/GC and the organizations in Nigeria are not US organizations. Let try to learn from others instead of making unnecessary assumptions.
The question is unambiguous: Person/Entity paying for your trip? My response is anyone who can fill in that capacity.

Is this comment for fun or real ? And nobody has seen this as misinformation ?

1. Any one (a fresh graduate can sponsor his friends or family to attend graduation ..where did he or she gets the money ? ). The op is an individual , we are not talking about organisation and not just any organisation can sponsor you.

2. You don't need to be a PR or living in the US before you can sponsor someone but the op lives in the US and wants to invite a cousin , if her visa is expired or she is living illegally can she invite her cousin ?

3. The most important thing is what are you going there to do and your status ( whose status ? The status of the person visiting from Nigeria or the status of the person living in the US ? You re just contradicting yourself , this is the real misinformation.

Best Wishes 🙏
Read my post again. You're mixing things up and not conversant with the process.
Sponsorship is different from invitation. Technically, there's nothing like sponsorship wrt visiting visas. The use of sponsorship refers to who's paying for the trip and I restate that anyone can sponsor another. There's a column for that on the DS-160. It's either yourself, someone else or an organization. The Invitee may or may or may not be the sponsor but that's irrelevant in the application process.

The other issue is Invitation (what you're going to do) and any legal resident can invite anyone. E.g. My brother was not a PR/USC when he invited me for his graduation event. My cousin was not a PR/USC when he invited me for a event. So you're the one misinforming the public.
Like I earlier stated the most important aspects of the application are what you're going to do and your status.

Hey 🤠

You should have narrated your state (situation ) to @justwise in order for him to answer your question directly because you actually called him out in your question , now you have answered the question (possibly wrongly) yourself . That was why i wrote that your question did not point to any direction .

1. Now , to correct one notion (because of others ) , paying your sister's flight ticket does not mean that you 're the sponsor , you can pay flight ticket just as a "gift". She has to indicate you as her sponsor in all necessary forms (ds-160) and also tell the same to the consular verbally .

2. That aside , not everyone inviting someone to the US can claim sponsor , ie a student graduating from a college cannot claim sponsor when inviting his or her friends or families. A car dealer or other businessman or women cannot claim sponsor when inviting someone to come and inspect goods because their transactions may eventually not work out .

3. If you are not a permanent resident in the United States , and you are not working and paying taxes don't state yourself as sponsor . Except in the case you married an American or a permanent resident . Your own entry (how you entered the USA) history also matters in deciding your invitee 's faith .

Best Wishes 🙏
Anyone or organization can actually sponsor others for a visiting visa. You don't need to be a USC or PR or even living in the US. The most important thing is what are you going there to do and your status.

It's actually meant for the banks and not common man like you and me. It still affects you and I anyway. I'll try to simplify it for you grin.

Banks are supposed to hold USD for their business and the CBN permits then to do so. However there's a limit they're suppose to hold for business purposes. What banks have done is holding more dollars than necessary and they use the USD to trade so that as it rises, they'll make more money. That's speculative and can have disastrous effect so the CBN is just telling them to follow the books instead of them to be holding USD and speculating. Because of this the banks will always want the NGN to fall and then they make more money. Now they will buy just what they need and not hold excess USD. I'm bad at writing and so hopes this helps you.

He said the truth. I've been financially stable for many years and can comfortable take care of 4 children but my reason for not having kids is not financially related. Now with the economic situation of Nigeria, you'll see a young man marrying 3 wives. Some paying 50k for sex and other frivolities. A man to struggling to feed having 4/5 kids. grin
I believe they know something I don't know.

I was talking to someone how much I pay in a month for electricity bill where I am is far less than Nigeria and by the way there is 247 electricity. For a whole year water bill I pay close to 40k naira (if converted) and talk of food and others, you can be rest assured you will never go hungry depending on your lifestyle and where you shop and eat out. Nigeria is difficult and many won’t know until there leave. There is no where in the life one will fold hands and get nothing and no where is perfect but naija ? Hmmmm
Where you are is good oh grin. Please show us the way. My power bill is around 200 USD every month and it's a single room. Before I moved, I pay upwards of 300 USD for power each month.

Don't give up your dreams my dear and do not stop fighting for them.

All my life, it had always been my dreams to live Nigeria because I felt like I was born into the wrong country.

It took me five years to fight for it. I would spend hours every day researching into every country's Immigration system from UK HSMP to Netherland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. I would write letters to embassies.
Eventuly it paid off and I am now a proud citizen of Gambia.

If I can do it, you can too.
Wow. I love your spirit. That's the spirit. We never give up.
