@seun

What are the metrics for selecting Justwise as the best moderator?
Each section is unique and therefore the moderators face unique challenges.
Don't you think a scientific approach would have been better and creating different categories?
Don't you think involving the members of the forum also allow for their expression?
Do you think this was even necessary in the first place?
I understand that Nigeria is an oligarchy society and this tends to show itself in every aspect of our society.

On the other hand is Nairaland governed by the data privacy laws of the FGN?
These are sometimes these laws broken which you may be unaware of.
The misuse of power to ban members unjustly is also becoming too common.

As a student of philosophy we were taught that disagreement is not disrespect but I understand this is alien to the Nigerian society.

I also have booked a guided Tour at the UN Headquarters in Washington.

Which USA will I have to apply for to attend these events?

Should I apply for a C2 Visa or a B1/B2? 🤔

Any tips and suggestions would be highly appreciated.
B1/B2. You can confirm from the organizers.

Thank you.

There are many universities that have a tiny representation of Nigerians due to the higher fees ( e.g.an MSc from St Andrew's is £30k) and stricter admission criteria.

That's why I suggested that the PP step out of his bubble and visit other parts of the UK.
It's ignorance and arrogance when Nigerians claim that UK citizens don't go to university, and that they are single handedly keeping the UK university sector alive. But the same Nigerians are quick to accuse Brits of ignorance and racism when the latter assumes that Nigerians do not speak English, for example.
Not really because of fees but because of competition. The acceptance rate of prestigious unis are very low. Oxford has around 15% so what happens to the other 85%...they have to settle down.

It's now difficult to know exactly who are locals or not except the Uni gives such data so it's not simply an issue of moving around. As an example we now have many British citizens of Nigerian & Indian descent in Ivy league universities. The whites who you think are locals may be foreigners e.g many Americans are in Oxford. So it's actually a mixed bag.

It's a chronic problem with Nigerians that they abuse power and you're no different. Your misuse of such is well documented. Hopefully you'll learn someday instead of wanting to create an autocratic system.

Hello All.

Please can a practicing dentist in Nigeria apply for this EB2 NIW Visa? Not up to five years experience yet and I don't have a Master's degree but I read online that U.S. or foreign MB ChB is equivalent to a Master's education.

What is the lowest lawyer fee that one can use for this process?
Yes a practicing dentist can apply. MBChB is MD equivalent. For you to qualify, you have to demonstrate national importance. It may be easier to go through a sponsored route but that's just my opinion. I have no idea about legal fees and wish you the very best.

Nigerian problem is not really the politicians, our problem is people like you and there are many of you hence the danger ahead.

You people will go to any length to defend fraudulent activities, you hate the truth because you are used to abusing the system, its normal for many of you to use backdoor to achieve your aims.

The op cheated to get a visa and now paying the price for his fraudulent act and many of you are here ignorantly defending him.
I think you're taking this issue personal. Do you have any issues with the guy for calling out the school or are you an agent of the institution? You're begining to sound opinionated and unintelligent. If an attorney defends a criminal in court, does that make him a criminal?

Your posts reminded me of the issues I had with a British engineering company, after our agreements, one Nigerian guy sent a mail demanding for full payments for them to complete their design, his reason was that 2 Nigerian companies they worked for defaulted bla bla bla...that is something a German or American company will never do and that guy was eventually sacked from the company.

While the issues are different some of us understand the gimmicks of these British institutions and the funny thing is they use 3rd parties like you to execute shady deals. I will always expose such and that has been my point.

Please many students are already going through hard times, let's not make life harder for them. You may not understand what I'm talking about because I've always engage people...both local and foreigners.

Evening my ogas,

Please I want to book flight against April and I have read a lot on NL about port of entry that's not too strict and Montreal airport has been the option majority advised people to go through.

The question is I have been seeing 3 Montreal YUL , YHU and YMX, I don't know the particular one that is less strict and best for Nigerians. Kindly help me out with the best and less stressful and strict port of entry amongst the 3 options.

Secondly, has anyone booked flight on skyscanner app before? They seem to have cheaper ticket. Can I go ahead and book there, it's extremely cheap and it got me scared. Make person no go enter one chance.

Lastly, Air-maroc seems to be cheapest around that April, I hope they will not request for transit visa at casablanca and can I book one one way ticket without having issues?
YUL is Montreal Intl Airport. Skyscanner is a valid travel agency as long as you're on the legitimate site.

heykims:
I hope guys aspiring to come UK are aware of the new immigration rules that will take off in April.
It makes it very difficult to remain in UK even after your 2yrs post graduate visa as one will need a very high paying job to remain the UK which in reality is not achievable except for a lucky few.
The popular route to remain was the care sponsorship but its regulation is now very stringent and now with a care visa, u can't bring in dependants again once the policy is implemented in April, so the route is a no way for a family oriented individual.
So anyone that gets a care sponsorship after April won't have dependents. It's quite bad that for a student presently in the UK with his dependants, if he gets care visa sponsorship after April, the dependants won't be covered and would need to return back to Nigeria.
Please let's reason am well before we japa o.
The policy is not retroactive. If you're already in the UK with your family, you're good. If I recall clearly the policy states that you can't allow dependents to travel with you to the UK.

Can this I 130 petition affect my F1 visa. I'm so confused i dont know what to do now.
Yes. It's a known fact that immigrant petitions affect non-immigrant visas. Think about it for a second, you want to be in the US, and to have a student visa you need to prove non-immigrant intent. How do you want to convince the VO of your returnhuh huh
That makes it more difficult however I know a few who have gotten student visas even with a pending I-130 petition. I'll say give it your shot and I wish you the very best.

The example you gave got nothing to do with this case.

This is case of fraud right from visa application, some Nigerians are not smart, Nigerian is hard no doubt but you put together the little you have and pay to the school and the embassy then came to the UK empty handed with no money to survive so as to benefit from all you have spent.

Running around for jobs, unable to attend lectures, no peace of mind and at the end you are likely to be sent home and your visa curtailed.

How foolish!!
We've both agree that it unacceptable. On the other hand schools using payment plans to hoodwink students and then want full tuition or changing previous agreement is deception. Let me know from the beginning what I'm getting into, it's a mutual relationship. I'm paying for the service and not demanding a free service. You can't graduate without paying in full anyway. So let's also call out deceptive institutions.

Taal17:
It's not vilifying
The UK visa process requires you to prove that you have full funds for housing and school fees. That's the basis for you getting approved the visa.
That's what the school expects you to have.

You can not then blame a school for changing it's payment plan when you arrive.. university is well within their rights to do so. Even Nigerian universities don't accept payment plan you pay upfront

Education is a business...it fails when it's run on 'credit'

The risk any intl student in the UK takes when they do not have full funds for school and housing is what the OP is facing.

That risk has now become an issue and consequences follow. That's life.

Pls note that for German student visa that money you claim you have would be in a block account that you can not do abracadabra and run it.

That being said lessons have been shared... hopefully others use this make better choices or not.
International students have the greatest impact on UK economy than any other country. I disagree that universities that initially accepted a payment plan can later change it during the session without consideration to the students. Do you realize many genuine students will be affected? Are you aware many institutions have a "need-blind" or "need-aware" admissions policy? Even locals drop out of school due to financial challenges.

To prove and to have is different. If the govt is serious let the unis implement a policy where payment of full tuition is compulsory or have a blocked account like in Germany. Not some gimmicks where you attract the students with a payment plan and later shift the goal post during the match. That's unacceptable and should be called out.

Yes i'm aware of this sort of fraudulent activities and i have been warning people over 10yrs now, so when people open a thread like this to misinform others i have to speak out.

I don't have any sympathy for people like the op.

Obviously you are supporting people like the op
Well, I'm not in a position to speak for the OP and I also stated that I don't encourage unscrupulous activities. With my basic training in AML, I can easily tell a "baked" bank statement, the govt overlook some of these things but I won't go into all of that. Please keep sounding such warnings, that's highly appreciated.

But I'll share my experience with you. My brother and I decided to sponsor a relative to a football academy in the UK because of his talents. It was very expensive but we could easily afford it because I had a good paying job. My statement was used and he travelled. Unfortunately I was impacted by the tech layoffs in January of last year. With the payment plan we were still able to pull it off. Now tell me if the academy had change the payment plan, how will I be able to cope? Life happens and situations changes.
Like I stated earlier your warnings is appreciated.

You can not afford to study in the UK but you still went ahead to apply and lie to the embassy, now you are complaining about the school asking for their money.
Please there's no need for accusations and don't pretend you're not aware this is a "standard" practice amoung the students so no need of pointing fingers. The embassy and the govt is aware but still issue the visas. It's not rocket science to know those statements are concorted.

While I don't encourage such acts, what he needs now is the ability to navigate his studies amidst the challenging situations.
People go to great lengths to leave the country sometimes against common sense but if our path cross I do my best to assist such individuals instead of amplifying their flaws.

Moving to Canada as a student without loads of cash is equal to sufferhead. The hardship can be endured by a 21 or 23 year old single student but for a man in his 30s with a family it can feel like even taking yourself years back. I live and work in the GTA area of Ontario and I'll suggest you make your plans + more enquiries before you make the move.
There are lots of people doing great in Canada and I also got into Canada with two job offers (software engineering) before landing as a PR in 2022 and did okay like many others however take these two factors into consideration

1. A student is expected to bring in money for their fees and upkeep. These fees are usually 5 times more than what locals pay (citizens/PRs). Students also work restricted hours in low paying tough jobs . On the other hand, a PR has no such restriction and can compete for jobs without any hinderance with access to credit

2. Law is a regulated field in Canada hence you'll need to go through the licensing process which I heard takes about 2 years. During that 2 years you'll need money to finance your stay.

If you can, compete for a PR and resist the temptation to go in there as a student except you have tens of million to spare. The country is cashing out on international students from India, Nigeria , Pakistan who are attending Colleges studying cooked courses. Those colleges are like a backdoor route to working in Canada and you'll find yourself unsatisfied with the programs in most cases. The universities are expensive (CAD55,000 for a MA in Economics at Ottawa Uni) but offer better opportunities.

The express entry system (which I used to migrate to canada in 2022) has become very competitive with a high cutoff score 500+ which has pushed many to spend more and more money to get a study visa. At the end of studies the graduate will still find themselves competing for points in the express entry pool though with a higher score but the entire process can be lengthy, expensive and take you off your career.

I suggest you explore the express entry system and plan the transition well with the right information. Forgrt about agents
Your comment on the subject matter is very succinct and compendious. EE is now very competitive and having a job offer is the only way that can significantly increase his chances of being invited to apply for PR considering his profile. That's his best shot except he got the gram.

I've always expressed that the sch or uni you attended play a major role in any company/position you can work. All the top schools in the US not only have a very high employment rate but also have the best roles.

In an interview I had last year, the interviewers were from Stanford, MIT, Columbia Uni (NY) and then the last two from mid-tier institutions. In order to maintain the status of elite institutions the system "push the cream to the top"

https://www.nairaland.com/4743326/what-young-lawyer-canada-usa

I later decided to stay back in Nigeria as I started making some money from my business and other legal hustles.

In fact, I made my first one million through referrals from Nairaland here.

Right now, a lot has changed.

Earnings have reduced and with dollar at 1250, many of us have little purchasing power now.

We all have been impoverished.

5k in 2018 has same purchasing power of 15k now.

2004 Uber tokunbo corolla sells for 5m+ now.

That's a car 20 years old. Same car was 1.5m in 2018.

It's terrible.

Dollar is projected to still get to 2000 naira by end of the year.

The signs aren't good at all.

I would have applied for USA F1 student visa but the rate of denial is so high.

If I don't earn in usd now, I would be worse off.

WHAT I WANT:

I don't need financial help.

All I want are avenues, programmes or things I can engage in to earn in usd while still here in Nigeria.

I don't need to be spoon fed.

I just need pointers to widen my horizon.

I am ready to pay for some courses if need be.

Also, I would accept suggestions if there are other avenues that would make USA japa easier.

Scammers or those with gimmicks should steer clear please as you can't get a dime from me.

Don't waste your time, please.

Thanks!
In the words of Benjamin Disraeli he said "Never complain, never explain." Some 4 years ago I spent about 30 minutes expositing on those those expressions to a class. In a few words it means don't complain about life and don't explain what you're doing or why, but just do it. This is not to dismiss your valid complaints but to re-engineer your mindset for a greater tomorrow.

If you want to travel, have a plan and work towards it. Don't be discouraged by what you hear, everyone's experience is different.

For a number of years I assist established Nigerian businesses to raise funds. There's a lot of latent money to be invested but the terms are very stringent and my charges are very high. Go online and be a bridge between businesses and Investors. There are many others offering same services your work is getting a Nigerian business with good books.

What do you have passion for? What's your specialty? The world is a global village and you can offer your services online for a fee. Do you know there are realtors, brokers, agents, writers, teachers, counselors, tutors and consultants in Nigeria operating in the UK/US space? TBH it's getting more competitive but Walt Disney said "I have been up against tough competition all my life, I wouldn't know how to get along without it" grin grin I wish you the very best in your endeavors.

UK govt should be firm on this policy. Any university that depends on foreign students to survive should target Chinese students- those ones go back home, or close shop, better still they can merge.
Close to 3 million people entered the UK in the last 2 yrs and they not going back.
The UK is no longer a wealthy country, the pressure on schools, NHS, housing and public infrastructure is overwhelming.
A country do not depend on revenue from education and tourism to survive. Those are just adjuvants and should not the main source of revenue
International student tuition fees serve as a critical source of income for UK universities. Tuition from locals is cheap compared to what foreigners pay.

You're right that no country should solely depend on revenue from education and tourism to survive. Those are just adjuvants and should not the main source of revenue.

Unfortunately that's not the reality. 42 billion pounds to UK economy by international students is what any government will protect. The real culprit of the migration crisis is not the dependents policy of students. Breakdown your stats and you'll know who the elephant in the room is.

International student tuition fees serve as a critical source of income for UK universities. The funds received from international students contribute to various aspects of university budgets, including faculty salaries, research initiatives, infrastructure development, and student services.
The government also funds Unis through grants through the Office for Students (OfS).
Grant funding is distributed based on a variety of factors, including student numbers, subject area, and research performance.

Can someone who traveled out of Nigeria to the US on a work visa/permit invite someone else over? Let's say a friend, no family ties.
Kindly drop links if there's any.
Yes. It's very easy to get an invitation. In most cases invitation is irrelevant to your application.

Let me tell you thing for free about the UK.it cost more for the students to bring thier dependants than the cost of school fees.reason
Free healthcare
They seem accommodation from govt
They congest public service bus, trains etc
School places for kids are hard to get ur kid might take two buses to get to.school.
Some student brought up to 12 family members.indians are the major culprits.
The UK has already made its calculation.the Universities are self funded and not from government..
This is what you should have posted earlier about the defendants policy.
You sounded like the UK can do whatever she likes because she's a rich parent.
While I agree that UK needs to manage her migration crises, they always thread with caution because one-fifth of university funding comes from oversees. That's one of the reasons why the universities didn't support the policy.
Do you know that public funding of universities have be declining while costs are increasing? I've read several articles on UK higher education last year and many are struggling financially.

So what will you now say.

Now that Supreme court clearly states the obvious.

Dont always allow emotion to take over your comment
His analysis was on point and the courts can err.
I see a recalibration of election petition cases going forward.
The SC is discountenancing extraneous issues from votes and voting results whereby individuals are no longer disqualified based on pre-election matters but based on the elections itself.
All pre-elections matters should be settled before the elections.
