Car Talk / Re: Lagos Number Plate Abbreviations & What They Mean by stynhaq(m): 7:49pm On Oct 30, 2016
jidedoKQ:
Many people like me actually look at the three alphabets on Nigerian number plates and wonder what they stand for. Actually they stand for Local Governments or their headquarters. Since Lagos is one of the most popular cities (If not the most popular), lets start with Lagos number plates.

SMK- Somolu Local Government
JJJ = Ojo Local Government
KJA = Ikeja Local Government
AAA = Ademola Adeniji Adele
FKJ = Ifako Ijaiye *
AKD = Ibeju Lekki Local Government (the council Headquarters is in Akodo)
LND = Lagos Mainland Local Government
KTU = Alimosho Local Government (Ikotun)
BDG = Badagry Local Government
EKY = Eti-Osa Local Government (the council headquarters is in Ikoyi)
KRD = Ikorodu Local Government
EPE = Epe Local Government
MUS = Mushin Local Government
GGE = Agege Local Government
LSR = Surulere Local Government
LSD = Oshodi Isolo Local Government
KSF = Kosofe Local Government
AGL = Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government
APP = Apapa Local Government
FST = Festac

Corrections and additional comments is welcome. Thank you

Imagine. All these while I was thinking AAA is for Alaba

I also thought LSD is for Lagos Island, which is incorrect. AAA is at Adeniji Lagos Island. Thanks
Properties / Re: Where Is The Best Place To Live In Lagos If Working In VI by stynhaq(m): 11:00am On Oct 29, 2016
vokolo:
Guys,
I am relocating my family to Lagos and i would like to live in a part of Lagos that wouldn't stress me so much in getting to and fro VI due to work. I am equally considering a budget of not more than 250k a year and i am hoping this can fetch me a 2bedroom apartment.

Your candid advice on which part of Lagos i should base my search on considering transportation stress and my budget would be well appreciated.

Thank you.

Best bet is Yaba/Ebute Meta. Roughly around 600-800 per annum. Around 1-2 hours to VI averagely.

Otherwise you might want to try outskirts of lagos where you'd get your specifications for 200-250 but 4hours to the island daily.

Since I posted things might have changed. Sorry about that. Plus if it's soft copy, you get it same day if you really needed it.

@stynhaq, you come off as arrogant, i hope you are a ccie with all your knowledge. you said AFTER ccna pkt outlives its usefulness, well alot of people on this forum are just starting their careers not preparing for ccie

you cant tell beginners NOT to use a software because you dont like it and then speak about unetlab thats in its beta form, which beginner can handle that ?

I hope you know there is ASA in pkt for security and todd lammle simulators for ccna datacenter

as people grow they can move on to emulators but you dont come to a public forum and tell people NOT to use a software meant for beginners just cause you say so

How is unetlab in Beta? UNL that emulates IOSXR, Netscaler VPx, Cisco CSR1000v and Firepower? Asides from that the upcoming CCNA would also know how to use a few virtualization software like ESXi or workstation during setting up the lab environment. Trust me we prefer young Engineers with a wider knowledge in IT, not just R&S, but one has to start somewhere - I agree smiley

I never bragged about my skillset and I won't. I was advising people not to use a particular software because there are better alternatives, that doesn't make me arrogant.

I am still humble and would assist anyone who needs help just don't call me arrogant. Besides, I am no product marketer for any vendor.

@stynhaq
as olummyde said, cool down. remember packet tracer was built by cisco systems and i believe they know what they are doing.
i have used it to create labs for my students where they actually configure gre tunnels, hsrp ether-channels, voip, ospf multi area routing, email servers and even vpn; so how can you say it is limited for ccna ?

i use gns3 when teaching ccnp stuff to my people but believe me packet tracer is a great tool if you know how to use it.

Typical of black men. Packet Tracer is just a simulation tool. It can't emulate real hardware. After CCNA, PT out lives it's usefulness.

I'm talking because I've probably used all the tools you know and more. From Packet Tracer to Netsim to Cisco VIRL to GNS3 and currently the best of them all, Unetlab.
Please advise people properly.

For example someone studying for CCNA Security how do you run ASA to even practice what you're doing? Someone doing Datacenter how do you run some Nexus Images? How do you run packet captures to see what's behind the scenes as your OSPF adjacencies come up.

How do you see the behaviour of running a Cisco Router with Juniper's for cross-vendor implementations ?

Don't limit yourself.

I'm done talking about this. Use your discretion.
Career / Re: Cisco STUDY GROUP (online) by stynhaq(m): 10:42pm On Jul 14, 2016
olumyde5:

Calm down now. So what other tools do you have for the house?.
I still use packet and it's good for me. Packed tracer is perfect especially when you are studying for switching while GNS3 is good for routing. GNS3 have more features than packed tracer but that doesn't render in completely useless or a 'taboo' as you paint it

Chairman you haven't used GNS3 well or Cisco VIRL or other tools. Packet Tracer is for dumpsters who just want to pass exams without indepth knowledge.

Packet Tracer is way too limited. I'm even painting it good by mentioning it. It's bullshit.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Should I Accept or reject this Job offer With A Telecom? by stynhaq(m): 9:26pm On Jul 12, 2016
onyekaegbo:
I'm roughly 2-3 months away from rounding off my NYSC programme and I just got a job with a telecomm firm and they resolved to paying 60k per month (after tax). Now I'm at a crossroad because I was aiming for something higher than this. This really has nothing to do with pride as some people might assume, just that I'm somewhat disturbed that the sum is not 'okay' enough, considering the harsh realities confronting the economy presently. I'm expected to start soon and I'm so confused, whether to accept or reject the offer.

What's your course of study

Thanks man I got it really appreciate.

Packet Tracer is dead don't use it. Trust me this is a good advise. There are far better tools that are even used by Large IT firms for test and etc.

Use GNS3 1.4 and above or other tools (which I can recommend once i ascertain your level of experience).

But DON'T USE Packet Tracer
