Douglas, the guy on Adeniyi Jones is a fraud! To me o I donno about some other guys.
I took my car to him in January for servicing and now-April- the car is showing due for service with code B1 which means a whole lotsa things need to be checked/changed. I requested for Mobil 1 engine oil, and in the 1st week after servicing the oil life dropped to 80% and continued dropping really fast and now finally at 3262 miles, oil life 10% and really embarrassing service due warning popping on the screen every minute.
Unfortunately you don't get to see them when they are WORKING on your car as you will be instructed to sit in the reception.

I saw this before I went ahead to use them because couldn't find anyone else known as an Honda specialist, in the hope that they would be better 4 years later. Alas, I was so wrong! They ARE a fraud! They supposedly fixed new brake pads a few weeks back but my rims are all black now. This is after plenty shouting about what was agreed to be fixed, and then they called to say the car was ready, only to get there and the main things to be fixed had not been fixed! Also, seems they go get parts where everyone else does, and from my experience stated on the brake pads, they don't purchase the best, even though you get charged as if they do. Generally very dodgy folks. Not going back there ever, i wonder how they get away with using the Honda brand. Guys, please be careful using them, better to avoid them. Now my tmps is lighting up to check the tmps system. Waste of money and time (took them about 4 or 5 days, my car was stuck with them over the weekend since they don't work on weekends)!

Still early days in getting info but thought I'd share what I have, someone else might find it useful. Right now, looking at all options .i.e. Birthing Centers and Hospitals. The position of AGF should be held by someone with a track record of consistently being on the side of human rights and justice. The position of AGF needs to be separated from the ministry of Justice, National Assembly wake-up. I'm not holding my breathe though. First i would like to commend you for the passion you have to actually try to change things or at least make a positive contribution/difference. From a political angle, as someone said, you'll need to be here for a while and get to be at least involved in a community you live in for example, to familiarize yourself with the day-to-day workings of the Nigerian system as it actually is.

As for the many pessimistic and negative comments you'll no doubt get when you share your dreams/ideas, let me just say that there are many who have already given up on Nigeria and to a large extent, are justified to feel that way. On the otherhand, there are those of us that believe in the future of this country and intend to play our part in turning things around. There are many young people home and abroad springing up that are planning/making various moves/projects to this effect, trust me, i know. It doesn't have to be obvious and there's a lot of work to do. I believe it is only a matter of time before things are turned round if this direction is sustained. That's why I'm asking you to focus on what direction you want to go and approach it reasonably, with belief, and don't let the everlasting cynics derail you. Also, try to surround yourself with like-minded people and not those waiting to shoot down your ideas at every opporunity.

Why do many people like to approach things from a negative/critical angle? It's always easy to sit down and dissect other people. Though I agree that many questions asked have been warranted and reasonable, i think some people just see an opportunity to judge a (son of a) public figure. Many people on nairaland are guilty of worse than he has been accused of. That does not mean he should not be held accountable. However, I would like to see more objectivity and less sentimentality.
There's a saying that the devil you know is better than the brother you don't. How many people here know anything about their current Reps or have ever interacted with them? This guy has come up here and defended himself endlessly against all sorts of things. Yet nobody has posted any evidence, however flimsy, with regards to any of the accusations. We should be careful how we judge people, because someday we may also be judged the same way. Everybody has a right to a past and also a right to change and to be given the opportunity to do so. We've seen those who look like saints go in to office and bleed the treasury dry.
I am not a supporter of Dapolam, just a neutral observer who like some here, wants Nigeria turned around for the better. If anyone here feels he or she can do a good job, the law allows him or her to go contest so let the person do so. No one has all the answers.

It's easy to criticize but uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. I believe the good things Ribadu accomplished outweigh the wrong things he did. Some of the criticism directed at him here is unfortunate because I wonder how those doing so would have performed in his shoes under the same set of circumstances. The battered image of Nigeria was at least improved during his time than at any other time in recent history. This in turn led to investments and gains in various forms for the country.
If you think the FBI doesn't use the methods Ribadu employed then think again, they don't just do it as often and brazenly. The corruption war in Nigeria CANNOT be fought with a soft approach. I don't blame Ribadu really, in my opinion the problem is the EFCC Act. It should have been set up as a body independent from the police and less subject to the presidency. I don't think it is fair to criticize Ribadu the way some here have without appreciating all these things. I believe he performed adequately in a way that could have been built on.

I read that there are no proper laws/rules governing NGOs and NGOs may choose to register with CAC or not. Exactly, selective or not, those he went after were corrupt. I expected this to happen with that guy Aondoaka as AGF, no wonder he wasn't sacked. They should all remember though that they'll leave office someday and history would pass judgement on them. The Lagos Government on Monday barred visiting governors and top government officials from using siren in the state.

The state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, announced the ban in Lagos just as the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Paul Dike, ordered the naval headquarters to thoroughly investigate the alleged assault on a 27-year-old lady, Miss Uzoma Okere, by some naval ratings in Lagos.

Although Fashola did not attribute the ban to the assault on Uzoma by the ratings attached to the convoy of Rear Admiral Harry Arogundade, he however said the use of siren by those in authority was a way of terrorising taxpayers whom they were supposed to serve.

The governor, who does not use siren, added that those who do had “continued to constitute an unacceptable slur on the state’s traffic management system.”

He said, “ I have successfully demonstrated that you need patience and not the siren to negotiate through the traffic in Lagos. I seek the cooperation of all and sundry to demonstrate its benefit, including visiting governors and other public officers.

“Let us all get rid of these nuisance on which we spend millions of our hard-earned money to keep the producers in Europe and America in business while we use it to terrorise the taxpayers who we serve.”

I still can't believe that some people are somehow trying to find a way to shelve some blame from the Admiral and ratings. Some are saying she was stubborn and shouldn't have tried to insist on HER rights. This is the same type of doctrine of fear that has been used to rob Nigerians for years and a primary reason the country is the way it is today. Whether she was stubborn or whatever, every HUMAN BEING has fundamental rights, which is why we actually have a constitution. That he is an admiral does not give him a right to use the road ahead of anyone else. He has NO right to be using a siren. The ratings have NO right to be carrying a horsewhip with intent to use to cause physical pain or injury. I don't buy into the gospel of fear of military personnel in public that some would rather have us live by. Maybe if more people insisted on THEIR rights like this lady, then military personnel bullying people on public roads would decline and eventually stop. There is a saying that the things that happen around you are only there because you tolerate it. The tolerance level of some people in this country for violations, especially those that have to do with human rights, is really incredible. There can be no justification for what happened and I hope the full weight of the law comes down on them as well as strong disciplinary action from the Navy in order to restore it's image a bit.

It is impossible to exonerate the Admiral as some are trying to. He cannot claim he was not aware of what his subordinates were doing, or is he blind and deaf? His silence was all the consent and tacit approval they needed. Absolutely nothing can justify what those ratings did no matter how you look at it. I used to have a lot of respect for the Nigerian Navy, but most of it is now gone out the window. There's been quite a few incidents of abuse of power and chauvinistic inclinations by men of the NN, many we never get to hear about publicly. Assault and battery is wrong, especially by a military officer trained with taxpayers money. She was of no threat to them and even if you want to subdue someone, there are far more humane ways to go about it in threatning situations (which this was not). Bottom line, those guys, including the admiral, deserve to serve punishment proportionate to the injury and suffering inflicted on that lady, both physical and psychological. Lagos State should have it's own law on battery separate from the federal law (if it doesn't already) with very stiff punishments for offenders (without the option of fine).
