MY ADVICE TO YOU IF YOU ARE VISITING MURTALA MUHAMMED AIRPORT ANYTINE SOON.

If you have not been to Murtala muhammed airport this week you need to be prepared to face alot of hardship. The multi-storey car park has just been opened for use and I think the authority want to encourage people to use it. The pickup point under the bridges has been barricaded with barb-wire. Arriving passengers are expected to push their trolley and luggage to the new car park, enter the car and drive off.

Departing passengers are still allowed drop off at the departure but the traffic on the road may delay you if you don't leave home on time.

Because of one entry to the car park there is traffic on airport road so leave your house early if you don't want to miss your flight or keep your passenger waiting.

If you are coming with commercial car the commercial car park has been relocated. The new Commercial car park is a little far so be prepared to trek longer distance or wait for the shuttle bus (Only one is working presently).

The message is not to scare you but to prepare you.

Great.

So I have been in the states for 2 months now. My initial school was Upper Iowa University but I transferred to Everett Community College because the fees was crazy and the scholarship I was given at Iowa was not full with some hidden charges. I still get to pay $22k+ (with the scholarship). Here in Everett, it's just $18k for the year and I can pay per quarter which is really nice.

It has been good for me so far. School starts next week. If you are pursuing something related to tech, you should come to Washington. Washington State University or maybe Seattle University. The tech space here is amazing. After San Francisco, Seattle is the next Silicon Valley plus it is cheaper to live here and there is a higher rate of getting a job.

Microsoft, T-Mobile, Amazon, Boeing all have their HQ here.

I just finished an internship program with a startup in Seattle.

Yh, one more thing for those coming to the states, if the International Drivers License is allowed where you are going, you should get one from Naija. I got mine for ₦15k.

I got a Corolla for $850 including title and stuff and it has really helped me. You know I get to help people deliver stuff once in a while for $20/hr. So every extra bucks count.

I'm just saying this because a lot of people don't consider Washington State and there are loads of opportunities here.

I just wanted to keep you guys updated and I promise to stay active here so I can give back and help the little way I can just as @texrem and everyone else here helped me out.

Could this be real? Or I'm just dreaming, i was overwhelmed by the occasion that i started to shed tears, tears of joy.
I use to dream and hope of being in the US someday but never thought it would one day become reality. This is one country i have heard so much about,how well the system works and all that.
My travel partner tried to console me as tears rolled down my cheeks, i understand he was doing that because he taught i was embarrassing him but i cared less,the thoughts of living my dreams finally, living in a working society......
We checked into one of the classy hotel that is located right at the heart of florida, after dropping my luggage i went over to the room's balcony overlooking the streets of The God's Own Country while sipping my wine, thinking out loud how best to tap into the vast opportunities that abound in this country and all of a sudden someone tapped me from behind and whispered into my right ear "Guy bring money make i go buy fuel abi we no go on generator this night? "......i opened my eyes closed it, opened it again and started crying, so i was only dreaming after all?.
am also dreaming it ooh may God bring it to pass
Tips:
1. You need to carry the V.O along with your response, 'During your internship with who? Try to name the organization bro and be detailed a bit.

2.According to my little experience o, I think the V.O z not gonna have time to listen to all that(From I chat with their current student and so on) and it might affect the message you are trying to pass to him.

Try as much as possible to make your response unique and simple..

Do your homework very well bro and go through other Transcripts very well..

I was at Lagos Consulate this morning. I was slated time was 6:30am so, I had to leave home very early. I got to the Consulate around 5:45am.
Security checks lasted like forever but alas, I got into the interview hall.
Initially, white papers were flying left, right and center but, this changed later as blue papers were also coming out.
My interview was quite short and the VO (in his late 40’s) was pleasant and nice.

Transcript below;
VO: Hello, good morning
Me: Good morning Sir

VO: Pass me your passport, I-20 and SEVIS payment confirmation page
Me: **Passed it**

VO: What are you going to study in the US?
Me: I am going for MS study in Math

VO: Why did you choose this particular school over others?
Me: I am going to the school for 3 major reasons. First, the school offered me a full GTA with tuition waiver and monthly stipends. (*** VO cuts in)

VO: How did you get the assistantship?
Me: The members of the committee in charge of selection for assistantship were quite impressed with my profile and previous academic and professional achievement.

VO: Which other schools did you apply to?
Me: 3 other schools – UNI, BGSU and UL Lafayette (Stated all in full with their respective cities and states)

VO: Tell me about the MS program.
Me: The MS program is a flexible program that focuses on key math areas like Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Applied Math and Operations Research.

**VO typed for some seconds and then gave me the white paper.
**Me smiled and left the hall immediately.

I appreciate everyone on this thread for their wonderful tips. Special shout out to @tolutweety, @profojah1234, @texrem @oludare01, @jesusbabygirl, @libber, @toakins, @folsy, @femi321, @happyday, and everyone who has contributed to this great thread.

Tips
1. If you have funding, state it as one of your reasons for going to the school. I feel this worked for me;
2. Be bold and confident. This cannot be overemphasized;
3. Prepare, prepare and prepare - know your stuff (your course, your program structure etc);
4. Please don’t cram. Just go there and chat with the VO. The interview is nothing out of the ordinary.

Good luck, people and see you at the top.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by successflow(m): 1:31am On Jul 02, 2017
fairheart:
I am aware that students who have received their I-20 are preparing for visa interview, and that is good. Let your preparation have substance, and be ready to talk as intelligent and cool-headed as much as you can. Know all you need to know about your chosen program, and be ready to say why that program is worth travelling to the US and that "particular school" for. (I hope you didn't pick those yeye programs. Some programs will literally cause your visa rejection; so I hope you chose well?)

Don't talk too much that you forget the need and importance of listening! Listen, and listen and answer accordingly! No go do I sabi all in front of Oyibo oo; no need to rush yourself either, for he/she will knock you down! Just make sure your answers are brief and have substance; give convincing points.

If you have never made straight eye-contacts before, do prepare to do so with the consular.

Dress as a responsible person; don't pretend. The only impression you need to make is that, "I am here to convince you that my application for a US student visa is purely genuine, and I am going to the US to study, and I have what it takes to do just that." Nothing else! If there is anything else, nobody cares. And even if you are applying for the Visa simply to run and never return, do make the impression that you are going for studies.

If you are a man/guy/boy (well, maybe others, you know?) shave two days before your interview. Not a day before it. The two days interval would have helped you look fresh, unlike when you shave yesterday. I recommend professional-looking shirt (tie is not bad if you like wearing tie (and tuck in))-- for MS/PHd Students. For undergraduate, polo, and those cool cloths are fine. I recommend long-sleeve shirt for MS/PHd Students because 1, you are assumed to be in a professional world, and you know how they dress the world over, right? 2, you are assumed to be working (not as a factory worker) but as someone who has gone through undergraduate education and practising his discipline. So, your dress, in my own opinion, says something about you, that you’re a student.

If you are a lady, dress well and avoid super-hot make ups. I always advice ladies to avoid wearing heavy make-ups, gold everywhere ((the interview isn't about what you put on! (If you don’t believe me, wait until you see students with common skirt and blouse get their visa that day). So, wear what fits you and that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

Do not be afraid, for you will experience the very thing you are afraid of. What we fear usually happen. Isn't it?
Watch short videos on You Tube on how to remain calm in situation that arouse emotional tension.
Do not be afraid, I beg you oo.

Other thing I would like to say is that, getting a US visa requires either luck or favour ((both are the same (luck is a worldly term that in our religions we call favour). That is, aside from your preparation)), and it has to do with whether or not it is your time, and if the travelling align with your destiny (now, I am not preaching; I am simply telling you basic philosophy of life, of chasing of dreams and of attaining them).
If you can do dedicated fasting and prayer like a week or so before your interview, for successful visa interview outcome, do so. (This is not a requirement, please! I am not even recommending, as this doesn't guarantee positive visa outcome).

I want to hear your story after the interview, and so, write to me if you want to. Oh, one more thing: first, second or third visa denial is not "permanent denial". Never take a visa rejection for such. One of my best friends was denied 8 times before he got his student visa; he got it the 9th time. He is in the U.S now, hail and happy, and progressing in his pursuit of education and happiness! Another student I handled his admission and visa for MBA last Aug. was also denied twice, before he was later given the third time in Lagos the third time. He literally applied a week between those denials, though that’s because he could muster the financial aspect of it. But imagine this: a second student for MSc I also handled his admission for the same admission term got his visa the first time, after an interview that lasted for less than 2 minutes.
So, if you are denied (let’s hope for the best), there is always a way. Always! But expect successful outcome. Write to me and share your story after the interview!

I wish you good success!
E.
Nice one brother, Watch out for my testimony I Jesus Name,
