AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, REV FR HYACINTH ALIA

Some call it the "Yes Father" effect. Others describe it as Benue cleansing. Yet some others say it is Divinity at work in Benue as answers to prayers. And the workers call it the Mr 25th effect. One thing is however crystal clear; things have not been the same in the past one year in Benue state, since Rev Fr Alia became the governor of the state. A new sheriff is in town.

For over 32 years as a Catholic Priest, and a healing Minister, he had experienced, firsthand, the sufferings of his people. He has seen physical, emotional and economic pains of the poor Benue farmer. And as a Priest, who lived among parishioners, he had had to give up his meals, emptied his pocket, denied himself of so many rights to bring smiles to some faces around him. Seeing the enormity of the suffering of his people, his prayer time was increased as he interceded for his people in prayers considering his scarce resources to give physical help to millions. But like the Biblical Joseph, whom the King made the Prime Minister since God, through him interpreted the dream that was going to prepare the kingdom for years of drought and famine ahead, the Almighty God said, my son, Hyacinth, since you feel this much burden for your people, who's more qualified and ready to enthrone prosperity in the land than you. And the Lord spoke, and He turned the hearts of the people, and "Yes Father" was coined to herald the enthronement of Rev Fr Alia as the governor of Benue state. Benue was in dire need of an emancipator, and Hosea 12:13 played before our eyes *"And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved."*

A little over a year ago he was sworn in as the executive governor of Benue state having amassed the highest number of votes by a gubernatorial candidate in the history of the state. On a day like this I could have chronicled several achievements of the Reverend Governor. Yes, he has achieved a lot in one year. We can see roads in our towns, but yet, I can see through another prism God's reason for bringing him to us as a gift. What do you have to say about the openness with which the government is being run, for the first time in our recent democratic history. In my village of Oiji in Apa Local Government Area, I remember how many retired personnels who lost their lives hoping and waiting for their gratuity and pension. I remember a retiree who died for lack of N200 as I was made to know. Children of retirees sent out of schools in so many areas. Workers were afraid to retire. But then even those in active service were turned to beggars. There was no way forward for Benue workers. And when Benue workers complain, Benue farmers moan. Then all of a sudden the retirees are smiling; footing bills, taking care of their respective families. What has changed? A new sheriff is in town who not only pays workers promptly on or before the 25th of every month, but pays pensions of retired civil servants promptly also, and gratuity is paid within weeks of retirement without any unnecessary follow up.

A governor, who has not taken any loan; who had no official cars till his tenth month in office as he was settling salary backlogs; who demanded same sacrifices from his appointees; who fought vehemently against those who had hitherto turned the state Treasury to personal accounts; who has commissioned projects without any loan; who said he could only take loans for further infrastructural developments; who visits projects sites by himself, rolling over his sleeves. That's the new sheriff in this town.

The attitudinal change towards governance that he has inculcated in this one year is phenomenal. People now see government through a different prism. Transparency is the order of the day. He has no room for truancy, laziness and embezzlement, and he has shown many the exit door as a result. The salary wage bill has been reduced drastically after his first screening of the work force. He has sent many ghost workers to where they belong. Only the living work in Benue state now. The Disciplinary Master is here. Now our money would work for us, for all of us.

Another imperceptible but momentous achievement is the faith that Benue indigenes now have in their leader. Yes, the opposition numbers in millions, and naturally so. But daily, many are won by the transparency of our workaholic, true, sincere, God-sent and dependable governor.

Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has spent time trying to clean the Augean stable he inherited. And he is succeeding. And the whole of Benue is standing by our governor. INEC would have the simplest election in Benue in 2027 among all the states in Nigeria. Our Reverend Governor is working. Benue is working. A new sheriff is indeed in town. ...And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

Halopy:
The funniest thing here is that, the seat of these 17 lawmakers have been declared vacant according to the same constitution malami is claiming to be defending and under the said constitution, the only redress they could seek was going to court to challenge it which they have done as law abiding citizens, and the case is still pending.

Firstly, they committed contempt of court by declaring themselves valid lawmakers.

Secondly, they committed another illegality by inaugurating themselves without any Governor's proclamation.

Thirdly, they did the inauguration in a private room without the mace which is the symbol of authority.

So for the so called malami to be asking the police to protect these set of criminals is a clear indication that this administration is a supporter of illegality, they resort to brazen abuse of powers to get what they want to get. This is bad politics. One thing I know for sure is Edo people are not cowards, they will speak through the ballot.
Why would you write without your brain. You're calling elected representatives criminals. How can you undermine 17 out of 24? Only a mad man will support this Obaseki madness irrespective of party affiliation.

I'm glad that everyone has been accusing Pastors for not turning up in isolation centres to heal people. At least it shows we all know that only Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No other way. None other.
Nonetheless, if they're in need of healing, they should put their faith in God by going to meet a Pastor for healing, and not the other way round because it's not science, FAITH is a needed element here. If your faith is in face mask, no prayer can heal you. He that comes to God must believe that He is....
And you better listen to the Prophet for this generation, Pastor Chris while you still have time to avoid had I known. He's not moved by your insults, in fact, he's strengthened by it. Jesus is coming soon. Stop being a supporter of the New World Order through Internet of Things. Ask yourself whether Bill Gate is a medical doctor for all the fuss about his (mark of the beast) vaccines.
Your insults will strengthen me please.

PoliticsRe: APC Accuses Saraki Of Masterminding NASS Siege by successjohnny(m): 10:29am On Aug 08, 2018
gen2briz:
DSS: WHEN A CUP IS FULL - Maiwada Dammallam

If it make sense to you that it was a mere coincidence for the PDP senators to be at the gate of the NASS as early as 6:00am complete with "activists" chanting war songs and Channels TV crew to record the drama while their APC counterparts were at home sleeping and snoring, it will hardly make sense to you that the drama was scripted and acted to embarrass President Buhari from the highest imaginable quarters.

The plot not to impeach Saraki. It couldn't be. It was concocted to rubbish the administration, embarrass President Buhari and tar him with the brush of a despot to harvest the gains in 2019. Even a kindergarten class would know that you can't impeach a Senate President by mere locking of the gates of the NASS or even sillier, by the absence of the group trying to wrestle power from the Senate President. At least, there's a consensus no member of senator of the APC was sighted at the gate. Unless if APC planned to impeach Saraki by online voting, the inconsistencies of the plot are enough to tell part of the story while the arrest and detention of the DG after his sacking would tell the other part.

In simple language, somebody must have told the selected PDP senators to be at the NASS gate where they must have equally being told to expect the DSS officers blocking the gates and making provocative phone calls requesting for more guns. Leading senators like "Yellow man" must have been coached the nonsensical noises to be made to enrich the drama - the "I've called the US embassy" shakara to the pseudo-activists that, by the way, couldn't have been there that early to "fight for democracy" unless hired to do so. Let's not talk about Hon. Boma Goodhead from Rivers states, who was all over the place shouting her head off for no reason other than to have the people directing the movie assess her acting skills for future consideration.

Incidentally, the question Goodhead kept asking, wanting to know if this is the change Nigerians voted for, was answered swiftly by the sacking of the DG, DSS, Lawal Daura. Rather than embarrass the President, the siege, contrary to the motives of its script writers, offered him an excellent opportunity to prove his quality as a democrat. A similar albeit, more scandalous siege of the NASS happened under the last PDP administration and the sad event didn't capture the interest of the administration more than a motorbike accident on my village road could much less, respond in a manner that could indicate respect for democracy.

What could be sweeter than to hear the Acting President describing the as unauthorised takeover of the National Assembly complex as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all acceptable notions of law and order. Even sweeter was his confirmation that the unlawful act was done without the knowledge of the Presidency and it is condemnable and completely unacceptable. President Buhari responded promptly and properly. He did not allow Nigeria to descend into chaos by ignoring the overzealous or diabolical actions of some people to undermine the integrity of the NASS and our democracy.

Very few people could dare make it an issue if he had opted to act according to the entrenched PDP traditions. Most of the senators at the gate of the NASS pontificating about the sanctity of democracy this morning were part of the group that forged the rules which ushered in the Saraki leadership and set the stage for today's unfortunate event. They gathered at the NASS to protect an illegitimate child using constitutionality (same constitutionality they subverted to conceive the illegitimate child) as a weapon - if you can beat that!

Now that big heads have started rolling, it should put to rest the question of President Buhari's capacity to deal with situations appropriately. People should accept that only those who don't deserve the hammer would escape the hammer.

By the way it's very unlikely the VP pulled this alone

You don't deal Honourably with a dishonorable man. Saraki refused to be honourable by not announcing his resignation the moment he decamped from the majority camp. Very good development, how can a government tolerate opposition leaders as Senate President and Deputy? The Senate President should have relinquished his position the moment he decamped. Thats the price for it. How can the government allow an opposition leader call for meeting of the leadership of NASS? Let the impeachment be implemented by simple majority, any imposition to the threat of democracy should be clamped down immediately.
There's still hope with objective thinking people like you. Majority of these trouser sagging youths here don't love the country as they think. They've been getting it all wrong.
