BigIyanga: So 12-14hrs a day = 84hrs-98hrs a week. $6k/84hr =$71/hr. … $6kmon/98hrs= $61/hr. How many CNA/LPNs make $61-$71hr not to talk of someone witjout degree/certificate? CNA only make 17-21 max. Anything above 8hrs is OT. Your math is not mathing though … but they do make upto 70k with plenty restlessness and slave life living. |

BigIyanga: Without a degree or technical certificate.. which job can pay $5k-6k/mon=$60k-$72k/yr? Yes someone with their work authorization could make that as a care giver but they will not have a life! And no rest for the wicked. It means the live, breathe, sleep and live all their live at work. It is not sustainable!!! That guy is making it seem like it’s a piece of cake or a normal income to make as care giver. Making that money means working Mon-Sun working like 12-14hrs every single day! That’s not a life! It will tell for your body, your health will deteriorate from the stress. |

Y'all are too ignorant in this part of the world We can argue this forever, and it is disrespectful to call America a 3rd world country lol yet is has big economy and big army… that’s a combo of confusing there .. Fun fact for you; going to live and work in America is the dream of many people in those so called “developed” countries that you listed above lmao 😂 |

Working as a care giver without paper can be very rough and the opportunity may not be available in every state. And please don’t count on the fact that you can save 40k a year “comfortably” but yes you can make enough to take care of yourself and save if you work long hours. |

I respected myself and rented a small room for $500.
I knew what brought me to America, WORK.
I work on average 80 hours (week) at $20 per hour.
Sometimes, I run 24 hour shifts.
I pay $40 for unlimited data and call subscription per month.
Car Insurance $170 per month.
Gas for car $160 per month.
You know how you can eat whatever you can at houses you work at, right? I also do my African food but very limited.
I sew my agbada according to the material wey I get plus my stature. Oya, help me calculate, sir. So you work 12 hrs a day that’s if you work every single day 7 days a week 😊 If you work 5 days = 16hrs a day 😊 You have not saved $40k “comfortably” sir respectfully. You have just confirmed it sir. |

Artiiclebeast: Do you understand that the term "retirement" as used here is subjective and relative?
Your retirement plan could mean waiting for pension at 65 years while another's could mean saving up to $100k in 5-10 years and retiring back to Nigeria to live a very quiet and low-key life in some remote village.
As a caregiver, in my first year, I comfortably saved up $40k. I am talking about me here, now.
Abeg, I don tire for long talks.
Na person dey use him hand decide how e want take arrange himself.
Peace Yes retirement is subjective but you never specific your definition of retirement, by moving back home. Even at that in 5yrs you cannot secure your retirement to move back to Naija. You saved 40k in one year? 😊 Let’s dissect this. What state do you live in? Do you work live-in or you go home? How much average is care job paying in that state? How many over time averagely do you run weekly 😂 Even if you live in, you cannot “comfortably” save 40k in a year, that’s a BIG 🧢 😂😂😂 you no dey chop? You don’t have bills 😂 Let’s be truthful on this forum o! |

Artiiclebeast: Keep living in your "impossibilities".
Well done. Again read my post again… but let me help clarify here. You can work care jobs and buy house in Naija within 5yrs if you work live-in and save up on rent. The guy said you can secure your retirement in 5-7urs, common! America is not eldorado now. I for sure know what I’m talking about… unless you win a lottery or do some illegal stuff. You cannot secure a retirement in 5years working care or security jobs and paying bills abeg, especially a 50yr old man that probably have kids back home and send money home steady? I encourage everybody to travel if you feel it’s the best decision for you, but we don’t have to lie to people about the realities though. We can be truthful about it while encouraging such people. That way they can better plan and they are better informed. That’s not discouraging anyone, it’s getting them informed. |

Tazdan: The worstest America is better than the best Nigeria.
You guys should stop with this rubbish. In America jobs are readily available to do for one to pay and sort bills.
In Nigeria, you graduate after studying for years but there are no jobs, you are home depressed with no means of income.
Tell me what can be more harder and depressing than that? Well it is only a foolish Nigerian that can be discouraged by online noise.
I can never be. America or nothing! I agree with you sir! But not telling somebody if they move at 50yr old their retirement can be secured in 5-7yrs working menial jobs. That’s one a lie! |
Travel › Re: I Want To Japa, But My Friend Who Is Abroad Has Been Discouraging Me by sunboy(m): 10:54am On Oct 07, 2023 |
adecz: Some people only think of what you earn abroad in direct comparison to what you earn in Nigeria.
They don't understand that the cost of an average accommodation in an average American city may approach the equivalent of N1.5 per month. By the time you factor in your home electricity and gas bills, it may add another N300k equivalent. You never talk about food and transportation cost yet❗️❗️❗️
It's easier if you have somebody who is ready to accommodate you for a reasonable period, before you settle down, but your presence will also increase his own bills.
Nothing is free in obodo oyibo. Exactly my point, God bless you! Anybody can make it abroad at any age, but to confidently telling a 50yr old that they will secure their retirement in 5-7yrs is greatly over reaching especially working menial jobs That person must either be doing yahoo? Won lottery or have zero bills. |

Artiiclebeast: Listen, my friend.
I was exactly 40 years and 2 months when I made the move a year plus ago.
The couple that took me in work in the caregiving industry and fixed me up with an agency who gave me a job the next day.
From the lil cash I came in with, I was able to secure a room for.$500 immediately to give the couple some space and to avoid see-finish.
From the day I started the work, it was back-to-back shifts and I got $4,500 car within same month because you need a personal car for the work.
Being already in the industry, it becomes easier to network and look out for other high-paying agencies. In the 4 month, I abandoned my first agency and got another one that pays higher with a fixed minimum of 14 hours per day. Sometimes I run 24 hours,, after all na money I come hustle with no kids to babysit at home.
My passion and dedication earned me loads of good reviews and whatever hours I desired. From there, I branched out to yet another agency that pays even higher with an even posher condition and environment of work.
All these, without any green card oh...I average $5-6k in a month very comfortably, you can go and verifyyy.
Make una stop to dey use una limited knowledge of the workings of things dey discourage people.
Una dey look down on people and their hustle not knowing you guys are learners in the grand scheme of things.
Do you see those Hispanic lawn care guys? Do you think they have work authorizations? Go check how much they make and how they encourage themselves with the grind.
Our own na so so negativity and discouragement.
Must everyone be skilled the way you guys understand "skilling up"?
Nansense Ready my post again. 1. You are not 50! 2. You cannot secure your retirement in 5-7yrs. I have no discouraged anyone, but dont lie to people that they can secure their retirement in 5-7years. Read my post again sir 😊 |

I pity you, bro.
He gets a hard-on from reading about and knowing that he's doing better than you economically and material-wise and all the respect and worship you've been according to him will become a thing of the past.
Most of them hate competition and always revel in the reality of being the ones at the center of all attention.
Even if you are 50 and able to move to the U.S., get serious, work legitimately for the next 5-7 years, and call it a wrap, you will have successfully settled your downlines and created a wonderful retirement plan for yourself with proper planning.
Move, if you can, and with the right plans and connect.
It is good to skill up, but if you ain't got it, you ain't got it and it isn't the beginning and end of life.
There are a ton of zero-skilled jobs where you can make the equivalent of what you currently earn in a month in Nigeria in just a single day..yeah, you heard me right, in a dayyyyy. You probably watch too much American movie lol to think a 50yrs old man with no high demand job experience and no papers would settle and build his retirement in 5-7yrs. Stop deceiving people my friend 😂 it’s not that rosy on the other side 😁 Zero skilled jobs making how much ? Naira equivalent 😂😂 but you pay bills in USD abi you don forget ? lol, you people play too much. |

ambale: From my knowledge having a much more population should be an aadvantage
We are not just using our human assets properly thats all..
No arithmetic measure you want to use that would make 4m greater than 200m You as a country make 100m. Country A: 4m population. 100m/4m = Country A per capital income. Country B: 200m population. 100m/200m = Country B per capital income. Now who will have better use of its 100m ? Whose citizen will have bigger per capital income? Who will have more disposable cash? Whose infrastructure will last longer? Big population has its pros and cons. The best pros for high population is Market and Human Resources. Which means, as long as you produce, you will always sell without exporting and there will always be excess of people to work all types of jobs most times even for cheap labor. You people need to stop comparing us to countries like US, Qatar or Kuwait or Saudi or UK, it’s ignorant to do that. Comparable economies to Nigeria are Brazil, Mexico, Iran, Pakistan. Hopefully this helps. |
