Temperature rises as air is compressed and the test processes must wait until the temperature stabilizes. Some pressure decay systems now employ softwares and thermometers that balances for temperature distortion to a limited pace, but it is not possible to fully eliminate this problem.

Another technique is to pressurize the chamber and draw the helium into the component. Lastly, the chamber can also be pressurized. Helium also is used in sniff tests in which the assembly is pressurized with helium and a sniffer searches for samples of air around suspected leak points. Equipment costs, maintenance and helium costs make this method expensive. Helium gas is one such gas that has been used effectively in many applications. It requires pumps and vacuums that may be open to dust and may result in higher maintenance costs. Helium also is a non-regenerative resource, and is more expensive than hydrogen, he says. Another tracer gas is hydrogen. Hydrogen gas, or more accurately a mixture of 5% nitrogen and 95% hydrogen gases, has been used since the mid-1980s. Its use was on a limited basis because of flammability issues until detectors were developed that could detect small hydrogen in low concentrations. Today, diluted hydrogen is now considered a green gas; it is non-flammable and now considered environmentally safe.

A Nigerian man and his Thai wife were paraded by police for allegedly scamming marriage-seeking Thai women out of a total of 20 million baht through a romance site.

According to Crime Suppression Division Deputy Commander who confirmed the arrest in a press conference today, September 15th, police arrested 33-year-old Chinaka Chinedu and his wife, Uraporn Kesawatana, 34, on Phetkasem 77 Road in Nong Khaem district, Bangkok.

The arrest followed a report from immigration police at Survarnabhumi airport that many people showed up at the main airport of Bangkok to bribe police and customs officials and claim parcels containing merchandise and tens of US dollars in cash which actually never existed.
Chinedu had reportedly picked his female victims on chatting websites, claiming to be a handsome, white and wealthy. He would them decieve the women with promises of love and marriage. Then he told the women that he had some cargoes stuck at the airport and needed money to bribe airport authorities to get the goods. The suspect promised to share income earned from the cargoes with them.
His Thai wife sent bank account numbers to the victims and told them to pay transfer $30,000-50,000. Once they got the money, the couple turned of their phones. She also transferred part of the money to their accomplices in Malaysia.
Ms Uraporn said the scam went on for year and they made off with about 20 million baht. Police also discovered that Chinedu’s visa has already expired. Meanwhile, Pol Col Sitthatkhet said that they are currently searching for other Thai women who were members of the Romance Scam gang.

The wife of Borno State governor, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, yesterday, donated 100 rams and foodstuffs to widows and Tsangaya school teachers to celebrate Eid El-Kabir festivities slated for today.

According to Government House sources, the widows, , lost their husbands during the six-year Boko Haram insurgency in various parts of the state.

The kind gesture have been a yearly tradition under her small project, Support for Women, Orphans and Tsangaya, SWOT, Foundation to assist vulnerable groups of people in society.

Distributing the rams at Government House, Multi-Purpose Hall, Maiduguri, Hajiya Shettima told the widows and teachers that the Foundation would continue to cater for their “needs and welfare,” as peace was being restored in the state.

“Catering for the needs and welfare of the vulnerable is a collective responsibility, as enjoined in Islam that every Muslim is expected to support and take care of the needy in the society,” she said.

Ejike began her campaign at the Riocentro Pavillion 2 on Sunday with a successful attempt at 136.0kg, which was a new Paralympic Record (PR) and World Record (WR). However, that was just the beginning as she went on to set a superior mark of 138.0kg at her next attempt, before culminating with a massive lift of 142.0kg.

Egypt’s Fatma Omar finished in 2nd place with her lift of 140kg. China’s Yan Yang won the Bronze medal with a distant 128kg. China’s Peng Hu (200kg) came second, while Egypt’s Shaaban Ibrahim (193kg) came third. Dense deposits of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes popularly know as Abiola) that had grown on the Anambra River had reportedly constituted difficulties in the attempt to evacuate people in six communities in Anambra East and Anambra West local government areas of Anambra State whose areas have been flooded.

It was gathered yesterday that the water hyacinth, which covers a stretch of about 40 nautical miles on the Ezichi /Oda River waterway, affected Eziagulu Otu Aguleri, Mmiata Anam, Umuoba, Abegbu Anam, Iyiora Anam and Umueze Anam and the people are finding it extremely difficult to leave the area.

With this development, engine boats and canoes, which serve as the means of transportation in the area no longer sail freely, forcing the people to send Save Our Soul, SOS, to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to assist in clearing the waterways to ensure easy evacuation.

Though SEMA had earlier urged the people to leave the area after teaching them the warning signs, the people stayed put to harvest their crops and were eventually caught up by the menacing water hyacinth, which they said, grew so fast in the area in the past few days. Perturbed by the development, the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, at its meeting in Awka yesterday, called on NEMA and SEMA to come to the aid of the people to enable them relocate to the upland areas of the state. National President of ASATU, Dr Jap Okolo said the affected people could not come out because of the inability of their boats to move on the dense weeds.

IPOB said that there had never been a time when parents were exchanging their children for bags of rice out of frustration or even pots of soup are being stolen while still boiling, adding that this was why some agencies were creating comic scenerio by forming splinter groups of IPOB or others Biafran associations to distract people’s attention.

In a statement issued yesterday entitled, “An Uninspiring Melodrama,” and signed by IPOB Spokespersons, Emma Mmezu and Dr Clifford Iroanya, the organisation stressed that instead of finding solutions to the problems, Nigerians were hanging themselves and dropping suicide notes for President Muhammadu Buhari, the security agencies, especially the Department of State Services, DSS, were busy diverting the attention Nigerians with tales of purported divisions in IPOB.

The statement read in part,

“We have it on authority, that the decision to use the DSS to entertain Nigerians on purported factions in the great IPOB was taken at the presidency, in order to humour starving citizens, and take their minds away from the killings and excruciating poverty ravaging the land.

“The fact remains, that the singular choice of attempting to create imaginary splinter groups is a total waste of time, energy and resources. “It is lost on the public, how the actors in this melodrama are the only people yet to note that they are only making compound fools of themselves. “This development, says so much, about the quantity, calibre and intelligence of the characters who run the intelligence services. What a tragedy.”

It was a mixed reaction as a 38-year-old mother of five, Fausat Salaudeen, was, yesterday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly beating and tearing her husband’s clothes. Fausat, a resident of Agege Area of Lagos, is being tried for breach of peace and assault, to which she pleaded not guilty.The magistrate, Mr. A. Adesanya, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum. Adesanya remanded her in prison custody pending the perfection of her bail conditions. Prosecutor George Nwosu said that the accused committed the offence on September 4 at her residence.

Still on the Case

On the case of Fausat, who beat her husband, Nwosu, prosecutor, said the accused assaulted her husband, Mustapha, by beating and tearing his clothes into shreds, an act which the accused had been doing from inception of their marriage.

“The accused always fights the complainant on any trivial issue. Any time they have disagreement, the accused is always the first to hit him. “The complainant had, on many occasions, had her arrested by the police, but when the police got tired of the case, they transferred it to welfare; still the accused refused to change.” He said
