Good evening everyone. I'm going to be very brief about this.

I lost my dad on the tweveth day of may, he died from renal complications. I'm the first child and still young and naive. My Dad was an appointee in the local government, after his death we had a family meeting for burial arrangements.

We agreed to write to local government to inform them...we planned to use one my relatives who is a commissioner in the state, we informed him and he agreed to.

After a week of called to find out, the letter has not drafted and sent to the local, infact, up till now he has not really shown interest on writing the letter. He even said, we're the one who are supposed to write the letter. The whole thing is just a mess right now.

We have limited funds for the burial rites and we hope the local government may assist since he was a member. Now the chairman will be leaving office on the 12th of June, because he constested and won the state house seat.

Please I just need someone to advise me right now on how to go about this....Also when writing the letter is it proper to include a phone number and account number or something.

Do the needful asap, anybody can write the letter, add a phone number they will surely call back if they need to send money inorder to support the burial. Wish you best of luck.

I haven't had any issues with my rental cars. Except when i bought a vehicle that wasnt fit for the business
but i learnt from my mistakes and moved on.
From experience I know what to do and how to run my business. And if I see a good deal for HP I will still take it.
The problem is most times we want to cut corners in choice of car, repairs and maintainance that's why it will back fire and when it does, we will start complaining that the business is not a good one.

That was your own experience. What you needed to do was learn from it and try not to make the mistakes you made then. Maybe you neglected periodic inspections or hired an inexperienced driver but some faults could actually have come from your own end if we properly scrutinized this your story

Do you want someone else to come out and post of how he bought a vehicle and put on rentals and has not had any issue with his driver or vehicle? For months? Years? do you feel this is impossible? even on nairaland here?

Funnily, he was actually coming for weekly inspection, at a point I even jokingly told him about the condition of th car which I wasn't happy about because I didn't want to sound rude to him and importantly.didnf want us to start having problems and when I noticed he was not ready to change, I had to do the needful, need I also tell you that I prioritize the condition of the car over his weekly remittance perhaps he thought the contrary was the case.

I will be candid with you, take that car away, rethink the business or give it to someone that will at least know how a car should be driven. My take.

Had similar experience until I was forced to retrieve my car,his contribution on repair work was like a drop in an ocean as I was using his weekly remittance on repair work. Now my car is almost back to it original state, after spending a huge sum on repairs.

Took a loan to buy a Car for Uber, all seem well in the beginning, was able to offset the loan but car almost became a wreck courtesy of the driver thank God I collected the car the time I did, spent alot of money to return the car to its original state not doing Uber again,yet to recover fullt though but thank God for his mercies, we move!!!.

Please i put up this post basically because of my elder brother. I sincerely want to know if i was wrong talking to him, or I could have just let him be. I wasn't myself ever since i talked to him, and i was somewhat having guilty conscience since then.


I have an elder brother, he's 38 years old and also the first son. I am the fourth child in the family of five. The second child is a female and she's married. We lost our third child, that's my immediate elder brother some years back, while i have a younger brother. I came from a humble background. Lost my dad while i was in JS 3, even before his death we had been hustling on a daily basis for survival, and we live happily as one big family. My mother, siblings and i do hawk daily before we could eat. All thanks to public school in Lagos, my family wouldn't have had the opportunity to basic education. We hawk daily after school, weekdays and weekend. My family was bred and brought up in Ajegunle.


Few years after the demise of my father, we struggled to pay house rent. We had to leave Ajegunle to a local and developing area. I didn't allow my family conditions deter or weigh me down. Never! I believe I'd make it in life legitimately without venturing into crime, fraud, theft etc. After my secondary school, i was into all sorts of labour work. I worked in factory, building site, cleared bushes, laundry man , just to save up and further my education. I worked for 6 years after my secondary school, bought a bike from the little savings i had and proceed to school through jamb. I gave the bike to someone who often deliver 6k weekly for the upkeep of my family. I was in year 2 when i let go of the bike, it was on a higher purchase and the agreement we have had elapsed. I hustled my way through school and graduated. I'm done with service last year but couldn't land a job, probably due to my age. I'd be 29 this year and most graduate trainee often request for age below 28. Although, i had a 2.1. I'm only managing in a pure water factory to make ends meet, keep soul and body together and support my family


I sat my elder brother down and talked to him. He has been hustling like every other person in the family but i don't understand what's happening. He didn't futher his education nor learn a handwork. He's 38 but still live under his parents roof. He has been doing conductor work for many years. The family had talked to him several times to look for something else. It's fine you are hustling as a man for survival but doing conductor for many years without thinking of what else to do is wrong. A family friend of ours who later got to know what he does for a living had advice him also.


The bus he was following, the driver had misunderstanding with the owner and he collected his bus back. My elder brother had been idle for months, doing nothing. He claimed he has gone virtually everywhere in search of bus he could be working with but couldn't get any. This is a family that we all had to bring something no matter how little to survive. I was talking to him as a younger brother. I asked him why didn't he heed to people's advice when they were advising him then to stop the conductor work and look for something to learn, if perhaps he doesn't want to further his education? He doesn't believe in Nigeria education, because he could count graduates without job or those with petty job. My elder brother wear almost rag as clothes. I had to give him some of my little wears I'm managing. He has just one slippers. We don't wear same size of shoe or sandals, we could have been sharing that also. He sold his phone to feed sometime ago and had been without phone. I was initially saving to get my mum a small phone but i had to give him the phone instead.


He was crying when i was talking to him. I understand the situation of things in the country, which i myself is going through. I was just trying to know what other things he could come up with. I am not happy seeing him sitting idle doing nothing. The fact that he's the first son and found himself in this condition at that age breaks my heart daily. My mum had been so worried about his condition. I had to convince her that things will be better. I don't want her to develop high Blood Pressure that could lead to her untimely death.


Please guys was i wrong talking to my elder brother?

I understand how you feel about it all, it's for the greater good, call him again, apologize to him and make him see reasons and not feel insulted. The lord will see your family through, times are hard.

I have a male kid that is about 3 years old and I recently observed that a particular kid in the compound that is 2 months older than him always attempt to bully him at sight.

The few times this have happened in my presence, I restrained my son from retaliating cos the boy in question is autistic. Though my wife also informed me, there was a day my son fought back and the boy stopped his bullying attempt for a while afterwards.

This morning my son was about to leave for school. Immediately he came out of the apartment, the boy ran towards him and hit him. Once more, I stopped my son from hitting him back but this time his mum (my neighbour) experienced the scenario and only made a remark to the boy to stop looking for trouble. I felt she made the remark just to create an impression that she was concerned.

I've been feeling so uneasy about this since morning and this is obviously a bullying case and I'm subtly training my kid to tolerate it. Hence, I've concluded that the next time such will happen, I will ask my boy to fight back.

Just to have your opinion on this matter, is fighting back the best approach in this situation putting into consideration the health condition of the bully ?

If I tell you my own story eh. Dem even leave the family business for me say make I run alone. Their reasons are that it could get them so busy and occupied that they won't find husbands on time. I just laugh in my small mind. All the same, anything that is the best interest of the family must be done. I can't think of marriage now. I'd let them marry first, firstly to use my prime well and secondly to avoid unnecessary jealousy and breach of privacy.

Alot I would have loved to talk about, my elder sister ended up spreading hatred amongst everyone, not disputing the fact that I have my own issues but what worsen the whole situation is the fact that the rest all took side because they are all females, warned her not to spread hatred amongst our children before it degenerated to this level.I have since set my boundaries their spouses ate taking side with them and expect me not to take side with mine, not when she wrong though

I am the only Male and the second born, gave my all when they all got my married even to their spouses and when it was my turn, they hated my wife coupled with undue interference in my marriage, the last straw was when my elder sister's friend had the gut to report my wife to my sister because they are friends, despite the fact that we are few houses apart, what effrontery! the fool is a divorcee who brings men into her own house.
