Politics / What Northern Nigeria Muslims Can Learn From UAE Lifting Ban On Alcohol by supercase1(m): 3:09pm On Jan 03, 2021
Nov. 7, 2020, 4:44 PM WAT
By The Associated Press
DUBAI — The United Arab Emirates announced on Saturday a major overhaul of the country's Islamic personal laws, allowing unmarried couples to cohabitate, loosening alcohol restrictions and criminalizing so-called "honor killings."

The broadening of personal freedoms reflects the changing profile of a country that has sought to bill itself as a skyscraper-studded destination for Western tourists and businesses, despite its legal system based on a strict interpretation of Islamic law.

The reforms aim to boost the country's economic and social standing and "consolidate the UAE's principles of tolerance," state-run WAM news agency reported.

The changes also reflect the efforts of the Emirates' rulers to keep pace with a rapidly changing society. In a country where expatriates outnumber citizens nearly nine to one, the amendments will also permit foreigners to avoid Islamic Shariah courts on issues like marriage, divorce and inheritance.

Our brothers from the northern Arewa states MURIC and their hisbah police should learn from the UAE because it's a good development they are not more holy than the UAE even Arab nations had finally agreed on making peace with isreal and accepting Jerusalem as isreal capital northern Nigeria can't continue to dwell in backwardness.

Like I said, the north have accepted its problems while the crime-infested southern region is still living in a fools' paradise. The average inyamuri or Yoruba southerner dies in foreign jails or by foreign bullets, the average child is always contemplating how to kill his parents for money or how to sacrifice his neighbor for rituals. Some of you even eat faeces

https://www.nairaland.com/6084466/yahoo-boy-caught-eating-human

Your criminal nature has reached as far as Thailand, where some cops have begun to ask questions about SOUTHERN Nigerians. Check the list of all Nigerians wanted by interpol or FBI. They are all southern criminals. If a full investigation of the income of all southern Nigerians were made, 99% of your criminal population will end up in jail, and that means your region is far worse than the north.

https://nigeriacircle.com/interrogation-video-of-a-nigerian-arrested-for-drugs-in-thailand-will-make-you-cry/

The Thai police officers says that THE IGBOS ARE A CURSE TO AFRICA

If our problems are as big as mount everest, your problems are as big as the universe because in the north, I only have to worry about distinguished criminals but in the south, even my child can end up killing me for money. It happens everyday. All over Africa, NIGERIANS ARE THE MOST HATED PEOPLE because of you money worshippers, anf that's why I don't feel sad when South Africans or even Asians make barbeque with you people. You are a cancer to humanity and the earlier you realize that, the better for you. And yes, southern Nigerians, especially inyamuris, shall continue to suffer in this nation and abroad until they learn to stop being cultists and ritualists.

In other news, Atheism is taking over the western world and Islam is the fastest rising religion in the world. In USA, Muhammad is one of the most used baby names. Let that sink in
Ethnic Bigot!!!!!just look at your blind analysis so in your mind every southerner is a drug pusher,u just talk like an unexposed bush man from the kalahari deserts of Namibia!!!!

I have never seen more sincere and straightforward people like the northerners. Feel free to call them anything but lazy. Those people are really industrious and energetic.

Just like the rest of us, those guys lack good leaders who will make them understand the importance of Western education.

The day Nigeria's north will have leaders like Zulum and Sanusi spread across the length and breadth of the region, their development will be at the speed of light.

Sometimes, you don't need a lot of money to develop. You just need to judiciously manage the resources at your disposal because you people are committed to development - that's what the Nigeria's north represents.

In a sharp contrast, the Niger Delta region is a good example of a region with so much resources at the hands of the people with little or nothing to show for it. A good example is Bayelsa State. Meet a state that benefits from 13% derivation and has just 9 LGAs, but they cannot pay salaries.

If the people of that Niger Delta region were at least 10% as sincere as the northerners, the region would be miles ahead of other regions by any development yardstick.

Las Las, the northerners go dey okay in an independent country. I once had a lengthy discussion with a friend from Maidugri. The guy told me that the only people who may be scared of restructuring are the corrupt politicians from the north. He maintained that most of their people are farmers and have no idea what oil money is.
Please which region in Nigeria has the highest concentration of beggers(alhmajiris) school age dropouts and radicalism in Nigeria and west africa please?

Another northerner trying to defend his region already in a state of shit and quagmire grin grin grin grin grin.when will you swallow up your arrogance and understand that the north is the most failed region in Nigeria and west Africa and a threat to global peace and security. you people are suffering seriously from a very very very deep and strange form of mental slavery and you don't know it.there is no way you can dare say that the south got more problems than the north.the problem of the north is as big and solid as mount Everest stop hallucinating that the south problems are bigger than the north because that is totally detrimental to the current predicament of the north and the northern region would implode soon from it's complex webs of problems and I boldy say to you, northern Nigeria will continue to suffer for their hypocrisy and wickedness right unto themselves

First of all, who sought for your help

Secondly, what can you do about it?

You think rehashing the same bullshit that your kin have attacked us over and over for is you being sensible?

Just like a kid you've made yourself feel good by stating all those 'facts' about the north, now what?

Okay, master, please educate us on how we can change our fortunes, please teach us

You're just a frustrated being who doesn't know what being learned is, doesn't know Northern idiosyncracies, thinks that 'the North' is a metaphor for all things bad and wrong with this country

Shut up and seek knowledge from those who know what to say, not for you to just believe that having an avenue to communicate means that you have valid points

Nigga you got nothing

The north is for northerners, east for easterners, west for westerners, far south for its inhabitants, centre for its inhabitants. Etc

Deal with your issues so that you can channel your efforts and energy where it'll count

Go and learn boy, go and learn

I have noticed this over the years,I can't remember seeing an African coaching a primier league serie A, la liga clubs despite the numerous talents Africa had produced e.g sammuel eto,Jay Jay okocha, drogba, essien, kanu etc.
Is there a reason for this or could it be the colour of our African skin?

You need a proper coach to asess and tell you if your brother has the critical talent to be professional footballer. In any case, if he is so good as you are saying, he would have represented his primary and schools at competitions and his games masters and team mates would have made him realise his talents even before you noticed.
They don't play football in their school it's private na ajebo school grin

First, your kid brother doesn't seem to have interest in football so why push him? Look, I have many budding talented footballers around me and one common thing among them even at their tender age is passion. They are passionate to develop their talent and acquire vital skills to succeed as a professional and become rich and famous. So, your brother must NOT play football if he has no passion. Therefore, create time to discuss his interests and talents with him including if he has love to learn a trade.

Second, given that your brother will compete with other budding players who are taller, his height unless if he will still grow taller is a disadvantage. Therefore, he has to be highly skillful and offer unique thing that makes stand out in a team.

Whatever happens don't force him to play football because even many passionate and trully talented footballers fail to realize their dreams let alone somebody who is being pushed.

Hello Nairalanders,

This is a personal issue but I think I need to bring the attender of everybody to this matter because it's baffling and am confused on how to go about it.

My younger brother who is the last born in our family is 15 year about 5 ft 5 inches tall(approximately) would be 16 by this year.i noticed that he rarely serious with his academics he is not dull though but put up average performance during exams,he even say for this waec and made all his papers but was still average in performance 2 Bsand 6Cs.My mom who he lives with is a lecturer but she isn't satisfied with his performance because he expected him to do better she had complained to me on several occasions but I just keep calming her down that he is still a kid and I sometimes advice him whenever I have chance or visit.

sometimes when I visits, I noticed that he always play alot, after a taking critical look at him,I observed that he would be good in sports an he has quality of a good fooballer.sometimes I do play football with him and I am impressed with his skills.

I tried talking his interests into football to make him love the sport I gave him the best football training videos I found on youtube to help him improve, got him a good ball, sometimes we go to the field to play and practice, but the lad is only interested in playing around not even considering a carrier in football.

I made contacts with top football acaedemies e.g kanu nwankwo international acaedemy/Midas acaedemy, diamond acaedemy the acaedemy that produced chukwueze,I even pledged to fund him as he progresses through the acaedemy and save funds in advance for him so that in case trials in Europe comes up he would go,planned to make a football talent exhibition video for him that would attract the attention of clubs accross Europe and North America after he joins an acaedemy then promote the video massively to make sure it gets millions of views on Instagram and youtube. But alas, the young man seems to enjoy running and playing around but he is never interested in taking up football professionally.

Please what can I do to make him love and take up sports,am I too hard on him or are there any other way to make him consider a carrier in professional football please share your suggestions because I am confused.
