PoliticsRe: CNPP To Reps: Cleanse Your House Before Impeaching Jonathan by superior1(op): 1:09pm On Jul 24, 2012
Even as the chairman, it is impossible for Farcrock to make a unilateral decision of removing Otedol from the subsidy fraud list, didn't you watch the video clip when Facrock stood on the floor of the house to get Otedol name out of the fraudsters list. The presiding rep asked in front of the camera if other members of the committee where carried along on the decision to remove the name and he answered affirmatively, non of the committee members present voiced opposition to his claim (the hand writing is well written on the wall if we aren't deceiving ourselves).

They are all comrades at fraud. Na person wey steal be thief na person wey dem catch be arm robber.

Demdem: Facrook was a single member in the committee that went AwoL. The report isn in the thrash basket as u have alleged, the house till date still stands by it and thats why immediately after Facrook's suspension they made it clear that the report stays.
Besides, its not in the house's power to implement his recommendations, its left for the security agents to use it as a framework in their investigation.
That many of them arent clean is a fact. also that many of them arent even been stained at all with any corrupt practices is also a fact because we have over 300 of them in there.

I inist that its possible in cleansing the house and at the same time doing what is expected of them which in this case is commencement of impeachment proceedings on the retardeen if budget (A Law) isnt well implemented.
Are you sure of the bolded?, you are sure he spent the 620dols alone?. We have seen many corrupt reps, even the assumed man of integrity is a mess. I am yet to see any man of integrity in that house (u can assist if you know one). I still insist they are only after their pocket in this impeachment saga not the wellness of Nigerians. If person go give you cloth, first look at wetin e dey wear.

Demdem: why cant it be done? na today we dey hear of scandal from the NASS? should this stop them from performing their constitutional roles?
Their call on the retardeen is the right call and straightforward. Implement the budget or face impeachment proceedings. how simpler can this get?
They arent saints themselves so while cleansing themselves, their duties shouldnt be left undone.
When cleaners are impure what we get is cheap blackmail, again i ask that you remember subsidy report, it is now in the trash basket because of Farock. While i love the idea of impeaching Jona, truth is that these dis honorables are only out to make money QED
PoliticsRe: CNPP To Reps: Cleanse Your House Before Impeaching Jonathan by superior1(op): 9:36am On Jul 24, 2012
Demdem: The reps can do both at the same time.
While cleansing their house its also expected that they do their constitutional duties they are being paid for.
So reps cleanse the hallowed chamber while impeaching the Retardeen. Both should be done speedily cool
It cant be done, remember subsidy report?

PoliticsBamanga Tukur's Son & Adeola To Be Arraigned For Subsidy Fraud by superior1(op): 8:45am On Jul 24, 2012
His oil-magnate son is to answer questions for fuel subsidy-The first batch of subsidy thieves will be in the dock Tuesday.

Barring any last-minute change in its plan, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Tuesday, at the Federal High Court, Lagos, arraign the first batch of companies believed to have defrauded the country in subsidy claims totaling over N2.7trillion ($6.8 billion).

A source familiar with the matter told PREMIUM TIMES Monday night that at least six company executives including Mahmud Tukur, the son of the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, would docked to answer questions over their involvement in the monumental fuel scam.

Mahmud is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Eterna Oil Plc, which was indicted in the report, and listed by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) among companies that reportedly benefited from the Petroleum Support Fund (PSF) Scheme, but defaulted in their tax obligations.

The other board members of the company, who might be put in the dock in the absence of Mahmud, include the former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) presidential running mate to Nuhu Ribadu in the 2011 election, Fola Adeola, who is the Chairman of the Board; Boyi Tukur and Ojo Michael Ade, owner of Elizade Motors, a Toyota dealership.

It was gathered that the other companies, whose proprietors are to be arraigned, include those owned by the former PDP Chairman and immediate past Chairman of the Board of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Ahmadu Ali.

The subsidy probe report had demanded the prosecution of Mr. Ali for his role in the monumental corruption that characterized the PSF management between 2009 and 2011.

The lawmakers had noted that the proliferation of real and pseudo companies that benefited from allocation of products for imports in the subsidy bazaar took a turn for the worse when the one-time senator was presiding over the Board of the PPPRA as chairman.
The report had shown that at the onset of the PSF scheme in 2006, just six importers were involved in the importation of petroleum products, with the figure progressively increasing to 36 in 2007 and later 49 in 2009 prior to the appointment of Mr. Ali, who single-handedly raised the number to 140 between his assumption of office and 2011.

The report quoted Mr. Ali as admitting that the number of importers was deliberately raised by his board as a ploy to break the major marketers’ stranglehold on the petroleum product supply system to help flood the market with the products in times of scarcity, although observers say it was a way of dispensing patronages to loyal party faithful.

The report cited the example of two promoters (Eco-Regen Limited), who came to Nigerian from the USA with a proposal for waste management contract with the NNPC, but ended up being awarded a plum contract to import 15,000 metric tons of products, for which it collected about N1.99billion as subsidy for products it never supplied.

Benue State Chairman of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, Mr. Baba Agan, has faulted the impeachment threat by the House of Representatives against President Goodluck Jonathan, advising that the lawmakers should first purge themselves of corruption.

True, he that comes to equity should come with clean hands

He said: “The way I see the whole issue, it goes beyond what they are saying. I am sure the non-implementation of the budget is not the real issue. I strongly believe that it goes beyond that.

Very true, personal gains not patriotism is the force motivating these Farucocks

Agan recalled that corruption under democratic governance started with the members of the National Assembly, who under the past administration of former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, demanded huge sums of money as furniture and other allowances.

Although i may not fully agree on this but then the National Assembly as always been corrupt after all Farcrock is one of the longest serving member

Benue State Chairman of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, Mr. Baba Agan, has faulted the impeachment threat by the House of Representatives against President Goodluck Jonathan, advising that the lawmakers should first purge themselves of corruption.

Fielding questions from newsmen in Makurdi, yesterday, Agan said the plot by members of the House smacks of hidden agenda and not what they want Nigerians to believe.

He said: “The way I see the whole issue, it goes beyond what they are saying. I am sure the non-implementation of the budget is not the real issue. I strongly believe that it goes beyond that.

“It is either for political or selfish interest that they are doing what they are presently doing.”

Agan recalled that corruption under democratic governance started with the members of the National Assembly, who under the past administration of former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, demanded huge sums of money as furniture and other allowances.

He said the practise later extended to the state Houses of Assembly and councilors at the local government level.

“I advise that the House members should first purge themselves of all the allegations of corruption hanging on their necks before embarking on this ill-fated assignment that will serve no useful purpose to the average Nigerian,” Agan added.

PoliticsRe: STATE CREATION,WHAT IS FAIR,ARE WE MARGINALISED? by superior1: 11:26am On Jul 22, 2012
We dont need more states, infact i think we already have too many. Creation of more states will only increase cost of administration (as we will have more governors, Special advisers, commisioners etc to pay) and reduce the fund available for development.

There were not has many states during the era of ZIK and co but we do have serious infrastructural development. We need to return back to true federalism and allow all regions to manage their resources(and yes, South South should have their oil). We need to decenteralise the Federal Government and give more strength to Local Governments. This will force each region to look inward and perhaps groundut in the North, oil Palm in the east and Cocoa in the Southwest will once raise again.

If this country will not look ahead beyond the current feeding source (oil), then i am sorry to say, this country has got no future

And see how fellow NLers jst begin to insult without bothering to read thru the article first! Na wa for una o....

PoliticsEFCC Dumps Lawan Committee Report by superior1(op): 7:07am On Jul 21, 2012
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is not making use of the investigative report on the fuel subsidy management conducted by the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee led by Mr. Farouk Lawan.

Investigations show that the EFCC leadership views the Lawan committee’s report, which is enmeshed in a $620,000 bribe controversy involving Lawan and oil magnate, Femi Otedola, as a mere fact-finding exercise lacking the force for prosecution.

The commission believes that the investigation conducted by the ad hoc committee, which revealed the theft of N1.07tn subsidy funds by oil importers and their collaborators, can’t be relied upon to prosecute anybody.

Although the commission, which commenced its independent investigation in April, did not dwell on the House report, it did not dismiss it in its entirety.

The Lawan committee recommended that 72 companies be investigated by “the relevant anti-corruption agencies in order to establish their culpability and to recover the N230.1bn said to have been misappropriated by them.”

SATURDAY PUNCH gathered that the commission was relying on the investigation led by its Director of Operations, Mr. Laolu Adegbite, to bring those indicted in the administration of the subsidy funds to book.

The EFCC team, comprising over 60 operatives, who visited oil installations across the country and other vital oil distribution points, did not focus only on the oil importers as was the case in the House of Representatives’ report.

It is the view of the leadership of the commission that all those found to have played various roles in the issue of the subsidy and whose names came up during the investigations would face prosecution irrespective of whether the person is an importer, or a Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency or the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation worker.

Although the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke, said last week that the commission might commence prosecution of indicted oil importers next week, investigations showed that Adegbite and his men were still probing.

However, the commission has gone very far in its investigation and has come up with enough findings to approach the court for prosecution.

“The report was not discussed as an issue, but assurances were given that as soon as the EFCC finishes its assignment, which is very soon, you will begin to see prosecution probably in the next one week.

“So, Nigerians should rest assured that this is not an issue that will be swept under the carpet.

“We have gone this far because we want a proper and painstaking investigation done so that when we charge people to court, there will be no lapses or loopholes for lawyers to explore,” the AGF had told State House correspondents after a meeting of the three arms of government in Abuja.
