Uche Anaekwe, has narrated how she went for an interview she wasn’t for and landed the job.

Taking to LinkedIn, the licensed cabin crew said she had submitted her CV to different airlines hoping to get a job, but all to no avail.

On a fateful day, her friend and co-cabin crew told her about a job aptitude test she was invited for and she decided to tag along and also write the test.

Fortunately for her, everything worked out in her favour and she got the job.

Sharing photos of herself in her cabin crew uniform, Uche wrote,

“Hello LinkedIn fam, been awhile you saw me here.

A lot has happened to me between August-November and I’m nothing short of grateful to God.

After I graduated from aviation school in July and got my cabin crew licence I had no idea how I was going to get a job, I didn’t know anyone in the industry who would give me a leg up and although I knew I had all the qualifications, I didn’t know how to go about securing a job except submitting my CV to airlines and hoping for the best.

In the last week of July, I decided to pack my bags and go to lagos, my plan was to go round airlines offices dropping my cv with them and praying that something clicks, mind you I had previously submitted my CV to Dana air when they called for new cabin crew but I didn’t hear back from them and off course I was devastated.

Long story short, a good friend and fellow cabin crew aspirant I met here on LinkedIn who had also applied for the same role with Dana told me that she had been invited for their aptitude test, I was very happy for her but at the same time sad that I wasn’t called. She was kind enough to tell me the date of the test and where it will take place (funny enough I was going to the airport that same day to submit my CV to other airlines).

I took a bold and courageous leap of faith, went for
an aptitude test I wasn’t invited for, and the rest they say is history.

Nigerian singing icon, Ayo Balogun better known as Wizkid was announced as the winner of the Artist of the Year for African category in the Apple Music Awards 2021

Apple Music gave the announcement on its website on Tuesday.

The Apple Music Awards honour achievements in music across five distinct categories: Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Top Song of the Year and Top Album of the Year and the winners are chosen through a process that reflects both Apple Music’s editorial perspective and what customers around the world are listening to the most.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is regretting joining politics.

According to him, he was not prepared when he joined politics in Bayelsa State.

He said he should not have joined politics.

Speaking at the gala night of the University of Port Harcourt Class ‘81 Reunion over the weekend in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, Jonathan described himself as an introvert who was not cut out for politics.

The former Nigerian leader submitted that politics is meant for extroverts who are involved in a lot of conversations and negotiations, adding that introverts don’t well in politics.

Jonathan said,

“YOU KNOW THAT I DON’T KNOW IF I AM AN ACCIDENTAL POLITICIAN BECAUSE I AM SUPPOSED NOT TO BE A POLITICIAN.

“IF YOU PLOT A CURVE FROM INTROVERT TO EXTROVERT AND START FROM ZERO AS THE MOST INTROVERT PERSON AND 100 AS THE MOST EXTROVERT PERSON, AND YOU PLOT THAT CONTINUUM, I WILL BE BETWEEN 35 AND 45 ON THE INTROVERT SIDE. SO, I AM AN INTROVERT.

“AN INTROVERT IS SUPPOSED NOT TO BE INVOLVED IN POLITICS BECAUSE POLITICS INVOLVES MUCH TALKING AND YOU ALWAYS WANT TO SHOW YOUR PRESENCE. BUT SOMEHOW, GOD HAS A WAY OF SOLVING PROBLEMS.”

The Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government had last week announced the impending removal of the subsidy and promised to replace the removal with a monthly payment of N5,000 transport allowance to 40 million poor Nigerians.

The federal government had revealed that the subsidy removal would commence in 2022.

A social commentator, Afolabi Isaac, said the timing of the subsidy removal was wrong and the decision to grant poor Nigerians N5,000 in these hard times was an attempt to buy their silence.

Afolabi warned that if the federal government went ahead to implement it, civil society organisations were going to reject it and that would mean a call for civil disobedience.

He noted that the conditions were not rife and the government was insensitive to the plight of Nigerians who put them in office.

Another resident, Falade Emmanuel said as a civil servant, what concerned him the most is the effect it would have on his income.

Falade lamented that Nigerians who do not mean well for the country would hijack the gesture and many overnight millionaires would emerge.

He asked the government to carry the people along and make the grant a social programme, adding that a trustworthy person should be recruited to handle it.

He expressed worry that the transport grant may end up becoming an avenue for political appointees to reward their supporters and cronies.

On her part, a trader, Hephzibah Olanipekun disclosed that the decision of the federal government was going to affect her business.

She told Supers.ng that since her business involves her travelling to areas where she purchases her goods and resells in Osogbo, it meant that her cost of transportation was going to increase.

She explained that with increased transport fare, there is the possibility of the price of goods and services increasing.

While noting that with the monthly transport grant, a difference may be achieved, she added that residents like her should benefit from it without any hassle.

The Nigerian Senate, Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) have disagreed with the subsidy removal while the TUC and NLC have both threatened a showdown with the federal government.

While the Senate said there was no provision for such a grant in the 2022 budget, TUC expressed shock that government could come up with such an idea when negotiations on subsidy removal between the government and the Labour movement was still ongoing.

The Nigerian Labour Congress on its part described the development as an open invitation for unrest and revolt.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, has said all civil servants will resume at the offices on December 1st but will be required to show proof of COVID-19 test and vaccination.

This was contained in a circular on Friday.

Yemi-Esan directed all workers from Grade Level 12 and below to return to the office on the same date and ensure they get vaccinated before resumption.

The federal government in February had directed all federal civil service workers on grade level 12 and below to work from home following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, has urged Nigerian leaders to value the interest of every section of the country in order to build a united nation devoid of agitation, disunity and disenchantment.

Jonathan spoke when he led members of the 1981 set of the University of Port Harcourt alumni Association on Saturday, to the king of Opume kingdom in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa, King Amalate Turner.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jonathan described the country as being blessed with both human and natural endowments which can only be enjoyed in a peaceful atmosphere.

He urged leaders to focus more on building a united nation where no one society or tribe should be more valued than the other.

“If leaders derail, then there is bound to be disunity and disenchantment from those who feel not being accorded their rightful respect and value,” he said.

Jonathan, who is an alumnus and a member of the pioneer graduate class of 1981 of the University of Port Harcourt, said the reunion programme is part of activities of the alumni aimed at fostering bond among old classmates.

Afolabi Oluwole Jacob, a pastor with the Deeper Life Bible Church, has been arraigned in court.
He was docked before Magistrate O. O. Sam-Obaleye of Court four, Otta, by the Legal Department of the Ogun State Police Command on a one-count charge of defilement of a four-year-old pupil.

It is reported that the suspect is the proprietor of the victim’s school.

According to Crime Puzzle, the victim had arrived home from school on November 4, 2021, when her mother noticed a strange development of blood stains in her panties and curiously demanded to know what caused it.

The victim narrated how the suspect played with her and used his finger to deflower her in school. The distraught mother on hearing this, reported to the police and the suspect was arrested.

During interrogation, several methods were used by the police to extract facts from the minor, amongst which was a repeated presentation of photographs and physical parades of male adults before her who, at every point, pointed at the accused as responsible for the unholy act.

Obi Cubana was in the news some weeks back after a lady was reportedly electrocuted to death at his club and the club was subsequently shut down (Temporarily).

The management has now released a CCTV footage showing how the woman died at the Hustle & Bustle club.

In the video, the lady, in a red dress, is seen leaving the club with two male friends.

They appear to be in good spirits and are seen playing around before the lady runs forward, trips, falls, then loses consciousness.

Unfortunately, the woman, identified as Susan Oleghe, didn’t survive.

Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, challenging the forfeiture of her $40million worth of jewellery to the federal government.

The appellate court, on Friday, held that there was no substance in Mrs Alison-Madueke’s application to overturn the lower court’s order.

It affirmed the 2019 judgment of Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court which forfeited the jewellery following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The appellate court gave its judgment in an appeal filed by Mrs Alison-Madueke.

On July 5, 2019, the EFCC secured an order of the high court temporarily forfeiting the items to the federal government.

According to the schedule attached to the application, the jewellery, categorised into 33 sets, include “419 expensive bangles; 315 expensive rings; 304 expensive earrings; 267 expensive necklaces; 189 expensive wristwatches; 174 expensive necklaces and earrings; 78 expensive bracelets; 77 expensive brooches; and 74 expensive pendants.”

The items were seized from the former minister’s premises, at No. 10 Fredrick Chiluba Close, Asokoro, Abuja.

Justice Oweibo on July 19, 2019, granted the EFCC’s motion for final forfeiture of the jewellery.

The judge held that the former minister failed to show cause why the jewellery should not be forfeited to the federal government.

In his application for the final forfeiture order, EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, had told the judge that the items were reasonably suspected to have been acquired with the proceeds of unlawful activities of the former minister.

An investigator with the commission, Rufai Zaki, in an affidavit before the court insisted that the jewellery were beyond the former minister’s “known and provable lawful income.”

The investigator further said that findings by the EFCC showed that she started acquiring the jewellery in 2012, two years after she was appointed Minister.

The investigator also said that the EFCC was in possession of the details of the bank account through which Mrs Alison-Madueke received her salary as a minister.

“THE RESPONDENT DID NOT UTILISE HER SALARY OR ANY PART OF HER LEGITIMATE INCOME TO ACQUIRE THE ASSETS SOUGHT TO BE FORFEAITED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA,” MR ZAKI SAID.

He said a “damning intelligence report” received by the Commission led to the search of the former minister’s house at No. 10 Fredrick Chiluba Close, Asokoro, Abuja.

The former minister, who has remained in the United Kingdom since 2015, challenged the seizure of the jewellery from her premises by the EFCC.

According to an affidavit filed on her behalf by her counsel, Awa Kalu (SAN), Mrs Alison-Madueke alleged that the EFCC violated her fundamental “right to own property and to appropriate them at her discretion,” under sections 43 and 44 of the constitution.

There is a fire outbreak at the Access bank branch located in Lokoja the Kogi State capital.

The cause of the fire incident is yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

Report reaching us is that WAEC has Increased it's Examination Fees To N18,000, Blames Inflation, COVID-19

The fee was hiked from N13,950 to N18,000 starting from 2022.

The registration fees for school candidates of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), has been increased.

The fee was hiked from N13,950 to N18,000 starting from 2022.

This was disclosed on Monday by the Head of National Office (HNO) for West African Examination Council, Mr Patrick Areghan, while announcing the release of the results of the 2021 WASSCE in Lagos State.

Areghan ascribed the increment to unabating spiral inflation in the country, worsened devastating effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“AS CAN BE SEEN, IN THE GENERAL COST OF DOING BUSINESS AND THE MULTIPLIER EFFECT OF INSECURITY IN THE COUNTRY WHICH HAVE CONSEQUENTIAL EFFECTS ON THE COST OF OUR OPERATIONS, IT IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SERVICES WITH THE CURRENT FEE OF N13,950 PER CANDIDATE.

“WE HAVE RECEIVED APPROVAL FROM THE APPROPRIATE QUARTERS WITH EFFECT FROM THE WASSCE FOR SCHOOL CANDIDATES 2022 TO CHARGE N18,000 PER CANDIDATE.

“WE ARE, THEREFORE, ASKING ALL SCHOOLS PRINCIPALS TO COLLECT N18,000 PER CANDIDATE FOR REGISTRATION.

“ANY AMOUNT BEYOND THIS CEILING WILL NOT BE TO OUR CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE AND WILL DEFINITELY NOT COME TO THE PURSE OF THE WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL,” AREGHAN WARNED.

The WAEC boss noted that a part of the new fees would go into remunerations enhancement for the various examination functionaries with effect from 2022 as approved by the council’s Governing Board.

Areghan who gave the breakdown of the 2021’s WASSCE, said a total of 1,573,849 candidates registered for the examination from the 19,425 recognized secondary schools in the country.

He added that out of the registered candidates, 1,560,261 actually sat for the examination and results of 1,256,990 candidates were fully processed and released, while 303,271 others were still being processed due to some unresolved issues.

The WAEC boss further continued that efforts were being made to speedily complete the processing to enable all the affected candidates to get their results fully processed and released within the next week.

“The analysis of the statistics of the performance of candidates in the examination shows that out of the 1,560,261 candidates that sat for the examination, 1,398,370, representing 89.62 percent, obtained credit and above in a minimum of any five subjects, that is, with or without English Language and/ or Mathematics.

“A total of 1,274,784 others, representing 81.7 percent obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Joke Silva has opened up for the first time about her husband, actor Olu Jacob’s health condition.

Speaking in a recent interview with Chude Jidonwo, the award-winning thespian disclosed that Olu Jacobs has dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).

According to her, it’s been going on for a couple of years but this is the first time she’s speaking about it publicly.

Her words,

“He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with lewy body.

“It is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson type of disease, it affects the brain and affects the person.

“First time i’m saying this publicly… that is what we have been dealing…but the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and it is hard on us family members as well.

“We have gone through it over the past couple of years but we thank God.”

She continued: “We have gone through some times and situations recently that I wish I had the old you here so I don’t battle these times on my own but we are grateful for the moment of clarity. I miss the times we work together.”

The 60-year-old actress also spoke about finding out at the age of 10 that she was adopted when she was 9 months. According to her, she stumbled on the information by accident while rummaging through her mother’s documents.

The actress, who celebrated 40 years in the entertainment industry recently, had previously spokenol about how she discovered she was adopted.

She said at the time,

“It’s something like where one is just getting to share it in the public. It is something that I found out when I was much younger. Mine was a secret adoption. It was not something that my parents discussed.

“My mum’s elder sister wanted me to travel with her to Kenya and my mother was not around. She asked if I knew where my passport was and I was like yes yes yes. I know where mum keeps all the important documents.
