If Gowon was as clueless as GEJ, will there still be a country called Nigeria today.
If Yar Adua was as clueless as GEJ, will ND not still be restive today?
Gowon and Yar Adua did what they had to do to keep the sovereignty of the country they were the C-in-C.
Mr. Mandela of Otuoke, the Jesus Xt of Doyin Okupe should do whatever it takes to keep the sovereignty of the country during his own time too.

Justcash: International diplomacy is about securing the interest of a nation amongst their peers. Nigeria made a right decision. Let me ask a simple question;
Between Isreal and Palestine, who will you prefer Nigeria to have as a friend?
We have our problems as a nation, and we will have to protect our interest as much as possible. We need our oil to be sold and arms to tackle internal agression. America can buy our oil and Isreal can supply us needed weapons. The Palestinians cannot give us anything. This was used as a bargaining chip.

Azoro: GEJ is not clueless as some people portray him, he is a wonderful leader, the only reason why this few elements criticise him is because he is neither a northerner nor a westerner. What had Obasanjo done better than Jonathan? What had Yar'Adua done better either? Leadership is a process that it's achievement becomes transparent over a period of time. VOTE GEJ, VOTE TRANSFORMATION, VOTE MOVING FORWARD. It would have made more sense, if you listed his achievements. He can never be compared with OBJ. It is like comparing a Beetle to a Ferrari. Even Yar Adua solved the issue of Niger Delta militancy and reduce fuel price before dying. What exactly in concrete terms has GEJ done and not esoteric and celestial economic jargons that is not reflecting in the lives of the citizens |

Akanbiedu: This rule does not apply to land ownership. Even if you are not the owner and you are able to take a land by force, it becomes your own until somebody else is able to take it from you. Despite the fact that almost everybody speaks Yoruba in Ilorin, nobody can authoritatively call Ilorin Yorubaland. So land ownership is not by history or telling lies/truth.
So the argument about ownership is irrelevant. Yoruba is in control of Lagos now, what matters is that Yoruba must
(i) ACT in manner that leaves nobody in doubt who is in control of the place. and
(ii) Must be prepared to defend any act of incursion.
Srories about ownership is irrelevant as I said, Examples abound
(i) Look uo the map of Israel in 1950 and compare with Israel now.
(ii) Oyo Empire covered parts of Benin Republic but no more now
(iii) Some parts of Nigeria is under the control of Boko Haram, until Nigeria is able to fight and reclaim those places, no amount of history or truth can collect the land back from BH.
So my brother its of no use. On the highlighted, the land still belongs to the Yorubas up to Jebba because the palace coup that led to the demise of Afonja was jointly carried out by Yorubas that were converts of the Islamic Clerics, as well as slaves from neighbouring towns and the Islamic Clerics. If it was an outright war between Yorubas and hausas, that led to the hijacking of ilorin, it would have been a different story. When they took their alliances beyond Ilorin towards Offa, Ikirun, and down to Osogbo, they were resoundly beaten back to Ilorin. The warriors of then were not interested in taking the battle to Ilorin, because the yorubas in Ilorin connived with the islamic clerics to overthrow Afonja, who has already been declared wanted, dead or alive, by the then Alaafin. No battle was fought for ilorin. Therefore the land is strictly ours. |

You're a stark illiterate and your idi.otic retort is no different from the emotional impulses which induced the useless letter by your folks. A tree doesn't grow far from its roots after-all. All symptoms of lack of deep-rooted culture, and history.
So, in your obtuse mind - African American immigrants which have their history ingrained in slavery, fighting against social injustices from European immigrants, with an history ingrained in being slave owners can be correlated with a tussle between two indigenous groups, within the same country, no? I think I know a lot about Yoruba history, and I believe Yorubas never owned Igbo slaves. And Lagos wasn't built with slave labour. So, the onus is on you to provide academic proofs that Igbos were once slaves in Lagos, and the place was built with slave labour. Failure to do that would only show how much of an airhead you're.
Also, if you ever passed through the four walls of a school, don't have a fundamental problem with simple English words, and a dissonance with reality and jejune tales - I believe you would know that "immigrants" and "indigenous" aren't interchangeable. Two completely different words. Again, what's the correlation between the tussle in Lagos and the idi.otic example you cited?
Assignment for you, resident airhead:
- List the number of English MPs in the Scottish Parliament, National Assembly for Wales, and Northern Ireland Assembly. Shymex, you have really changed the rule of the game with these fla.thead.s. they are airheads, therefore civility does not exist in their lexicon. What they understand are insults and outright denigration. |

SirShymex: How is Lagos lop-sided, but all the other states in Nigeria aren't? Nah, Nigeria and Africa need to get back to the basics, and study how Europe was able to turn tribalism into something positive, by creating systems that cater to the tribal differences. That's something you and your ilks will never be able to understand cos you're stuck on reaping where you didn't sow - and you have no fundamental understanding of why culture should have always be left intact. You don't force yourself on people, you assimilate and help in the growth. It has to be symbiotic, with mutual respect - not with threats. Too deep for your mental scope, no?
I guess you were alluding to your region in the country since it's the most tribalistic and clannish region. Hence growth has been elusive to the same region. Charity must begin at home. Shymexx baba, where have you been? |

Kenai: Not everyone would agree with you on these highlighted words, and that's what you have to come to terms with.
Buhari may dazzle you with his 'tough' talk, but in truth, that's all he's about. His body language alone has shown he's not the type of person to tolerate criticism and dissenting views. "I will fight this", "I will destroy that", "I will jail this", "let us lynch them" - Pointless pyrotechnics unbecoming of a man who hopes to lead a country of over 250 different ethnic nations.
Guess what? You don't put an end to corruption by just arresting the so-called devils. You do so by actually working from the inside and recalibrating the system to eliminate loopholes, and that is exactly what Jonathan has done.
The import reforms? Check. The subsidy scam? He took care of that by ending the subsidies in order to plug that loophole. And what happened? The real criminals benefitting from the system joined the crowd of gullible youth to protest against it. Jonathan's e-wallet scheme has also put an end to the massive fraud hitherto running wild and free in the agro sector. Need I list the over 60,000 ghost workers he has eliminated from our federal civil service?
I can list many others, but they all just go to show that Jonathan applies a more scientific approach to the system than just jailing "corrupt" people. While Buhari might arrest 20 corrupt people, Jonathan's recalibrations eliminate over 50,000 prospective ones.
That's the thing. Please state the reforms in importation. How many people are being prosecuted for defrauding the federation, out of the 60,000 ghost workers or those who aided and abetted the defrauding? Don't you think plugging loop holes without penalising the criminals, is indirectly telling the criminals ''innovate other ways of perfecting your crime''? |

Politics › Re: Hypocrisy!!! Pdp Chairman Adamu Mu'azu Signed Sharia into law in Bauchi by superstar1(m): 2:04pm On Dec 26, 2014 |
Kenai: The point isn't about his introducing Sharia law, but more about the deep, bigoted mindset he has. A person with Buhari's mindset has no business even hawking carrots on the streets of Abuja, let alone occupying Aso Rock as president of the country.
Oh, and now you bring up the limitations of democratic president and encumberance of the senate when it suits you; but you're also quick to forget that Buhari, no longer having his powers as a dictator, CANNOT act as plaintiff, judge and jury during his "kworopshun" accusations like he did in the past. To even sign in a new law, it has to pass through the legislative arm and gain approval, and we both know how "Buhari" and "rigid" go and-in-hand. Now, he lacks the power to make rules however he wishes, so that zero-corruption facade falls flat already. If we had the kind of GEJ as our President in 1996, by now Nigeria would have been balkanised into 250 nations. He stands for weakness, cluelessness and mediocrity. A president that cannot visit war front to motivate his Army and he is the C-in-C. Tompolo threatened him, he could not visit Gbaramutu, Shekau threatened him, he could not visit Chibok. That says it all. What other big grammar can be used to describe weakness? |
