She is banned all round the sections. I guess it is the admin. I still don't know if she's being paid... because she wanna get back. I don't think I would wanna in the future.
The pleasure she is deriving from her contribution is beyond reward, and nairaland res valued her for that. Is not about money but the lady's information is robust. In addition, her maturity is superb and never see her uttering any vetuperation to any fellows. I think it is better for the admin to have a set of rule for exemptional circumstances weighing the the power of the information the individual is giving against his or her offence. Justwise, it is imperative the admin put this into consideration.

It is a known fact...but after two years of study ur post study visa is almost a guarantee. UK may kick u out!
I urge you not to go to UK please, I bagged my Bsc there and despite no chance to get PR and the career prospect is daunting . Now , there is no post study visa again in the UK. 80% of my friends who graduated from UK University are back to Naija. I am not saying you cant triumph in the UK but weigh your option. Abeg you if you don't have Australia money, you can try US. Don't go to UK oooooo

Hello All,

Great work you guys are doing here.. Been following this site as a guest and I guess it's time to register and start making moves.. I have questions as to this PR thing.. I have read enough but I just want a quick evaluation from peeps here going forward..
I hope to apply for the 189 or SVP(I believe that's the student route as I intend going for my masters) and here's my bio..

Female
Age: 31
Married with two children
Bsc studied Business management
work experience: 1 year customer service and 3 years PA.
IELTS: Haven't sat for the exams but I will. I am quite confident I will pass..
So how many points do you think I have minus the IELTS?

Thanks for your time!
To clear the air, it is imperative to check whether your occupation is on SOl /CSOL list. It is not everyone with Bsc that is eligible for PR. The first step is to peruse the list, I said this because I saw people who bagged Bsc in philosophy asking about PR , I doubt that is needed skill. Try to peruse the list first. All the best

Hello house,

I'm thinking of towing the PR path... Will be applying as an Economist.

Kindly say something about my profile;

A. B. U, Zaria Bsc. Economics (i spent only 3 years in school, cos I got admitted via direct entry - IJMB A/Level)

Age 32

I have Less than 3 years work experience.

And I can see VETASSESS is the assessing body of my occupation. How do I get state/regional nomination

There are lots of skills that falls under economic, e.g land economic etc. you need to be specific and check the requirement. Try to peruse states that have economic occupation on their list for sponsorship, alternatively, if you can score 8 in each band of English language test, you can opt for 189. Note, you need to ensure you do that before you clock 33, otherwise you will need extra 5 point if you score 8 in each band too. Boos lady et al can contribute . All the best paddy

So ur assessment has come in positive and this is d way to tell us?

Anyway, I think Omoba should consider going for an MBA here...National Open University is there...after two years he gets his stuff. I think he won't get migration points from work experience.

But is it still hard to get done with ICAN or its likes?

Folks shouldn't be rushing in with student visas when you know funding will eventually become an issue...that shiiit ain't funny...I tell ya.

I removed myself from it last year and I'm gonna b using my M.Sc to get an equivalence soon.
Fedemeko, while I partially agree with your point, nevertheless , going via student route is not bad rather than waiting in Nigeria idle. Everyone should asses his or herself whether he or she is eligible for PR at the present time or student route. No doubt PR is the best due to financial obligation of student visa. Just that guys do survive here and I havent see anyone being deported for non payment of the tuition fee. I am not in support of coming to Australia through student route without enough fund but people survive here. Nothing is rosy in life but it is better to have adequate fund before embarking on the journey . In addition, rather than waiting for decade while the individual knows he or she is not ripe for PR, it is better to enter via student route. Someone who is inside the Australia have better chances than the one outside Australia waiting . All in all, everyone should weigh his or her option, nothing bad in student if you know it will take a while to qualify for PR. Infact, skill list can change and you can get hit. Two kobo

Could you Please explain what you mean by the Bold. Thanks
I strongly disagree, you can get Australia visa from Canada infact it is easier than Nigeria in as much you are legal resident in Canada. I bagged my Bsc in UK and I applied from there and there was no itch in my visa application. all the best bro. @laminara. Dust yourself up, try to bridge the gap for the home tie, because I can see that it was the major factor for your reafusal.

Thank you so much missakomaye. The 480K you quoted for the ticket is it for each person for both ways. I have used various travel websites but i keep getting ridiculous tickets. I tried multi city travel and it was way way outrageous particularly with this Naira devaluation.
Well, based on my experience so far, getting assessed by engineer Australia doesn't guarantee you a job and this had been stipulated in their website. Although both countries are good but varies in terms of benefits for new arrival. If you are IT professional or chemical engineer, I will recommend canada but you need to leverage your qualification with canada certification. I am saying this because I knew students who got jobs in their field with post study work not to talk of PR. In addition, the fact the people are opting for Canada doesn't affect the job opportunities because they are strict with visa issuance. In contrast, Australia is good for civil engineer and IT too but people with Naija engineering qualifications do struggle to get a job in their field but few do get with God's grace. Try to weigh your option , I wish you all the best. Congrat boss

I dey bro.

The register is the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register. Your kid automatically gets on it once they get a shot in Aus.

New immigrants are only entitled to Family Tax Benefit A & B, CCB and CCR. All you do is lodge the claim online, take a couple of docs to the centre link office so they can upgrade your online self-service access. You can either choose to upload the required docs needed for your claim, or have them upload it for you at centrelink. Then you wait 21days to start receiving the benefits. They backdate payments to when you first lodged the claim though.. And you can choose to receive it fortnightly, quarterly or annually.

You then take yours and the kids customer reference number to the daycare. They will do the calculations and tell you how much you are then to pay. If you choseto have the cCCB paid to the daycare, then all you do is pay whatever is remaining after CCB and CCR are applied. By if you choose to have it paid to your account, then you pay the full daycare fees and your accounted credited.

New migrants also qualify for rent assistance, if your rent is more than a certain amount per fortnight.
Boss lady, I dove hat, u sabi all the benefits for the new immigrants lol . What do you meant by rent assistant?

Thanks BossLadyMo,

I have read online that IELTS can be waived when the applicant and dependants (above the age of 16) possess equivalent of a bachelors degree.

This link http://www.workpermit.com/australia/ielts.htm
"To determine that you have sufficient English language ability to be able to participate in the Australian labour force, the Australian authorities require that you take the IELTS examination if you are not a native English speaker. You do not need to take the IELTS exam if you have gained a tertiary degree (equivalent to an Australian Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification) from a University where English is the medium of instruction."

And

This one for NZ which has a lot in common with Australia - http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/skilledmigrant/caniapply/english/

However, you may not have to take the IELTS test, if you can show us that you:
have a recognised qualification from a course taught entirely in English
have ongoing skilled employment in New Zealand, and have been in the job for at least the last 12 months
have other evidence that you are competent in English - we will consider the evidence that you provide.

I am keen to avoid relying on the IELTS because poor sister just had a baby and I feel it will help if she doesn't have to add more pressure of preparing for IELTS

Please give your opinion based on these information if it's a risk worth taking by relying on proficiency letter from university
How did she want to claim points for language proficiency, if she is not willing to write IELTS test?

You don't need a transit visa if you have no plan of crossing immigration.

Oga, I think you really need to read the thread and stop asking overflogged questions.

If you read two - three pages back, you wouldn't ask this question. You have been on this thread long enough not to ask this your question.

Good day, pls advice me, having paid tuition deposit, and with granted visa, can I defer my admission once I get to australia. Will my deposit count for my next session if deferment is granted or my deposit would av been wasted. Thanks need response ASAP
Why do you want to defer ? Don't complicate matter for yourself, school might notify immigration on your status while you defer. If you defer, they will ask you to return to Nigeria and come back to re enrol second semester, although some people don't return. They wouldn't refund any money, they can transfer it to second semester, this is subjected to the time you notify the school about your deferment.

thanks so how were u able to get the permanent residency visa without your work experince tell me what are the other things that uplifted your score to 60 points zx
Chase 123, I think you need to peruse the DIBP website and previous postings on this thread. You only need work experience for skill assement but not compulsory for permanent residence visa in as much u can score 8 in all bands in IELTS.

T[quote author=lilspiceyy post=31952943]Gd day house, I got a conditional offer to TAFE NSW and was told to fill the GTE form and sign on the acceptance of offer. I contacted IDP sydney and I was told to contact agents in my home country which I did. Luckly, I got tru to an agent and he told me to forward the documents I sent to IDP yesterday to his personal mail as he is covering both Osun state and Lagos state bt the most baffling tin is dat he sent me a mail dis afternoon that if he has to work on my docs to TAFE NSW I have to pay the sum of N150,000 shocked Am so confused right now cos I tot it's totally free and that they get commission from the school for every application they treat. Pls I need answers. [/quote
