Please who knows the current price for TB screening at IOM Lagos. I understand kids do physical examination and not chest xray. what's the current cost of the chest xray and the physical examination for kids.
Thanks.

@sutelk your child needs to do the TB test (they won't be doing a chest x-ray, they'll just ask the parent a few questions and do a simple examination)

For your wife, she doesn't require either IELTS/UKNARIC, not for the visa type anyway.
Thanks

This is incorrect, your spouse does not need IELTS or NARIC for a tier 2 dependant visa. The main requirement are proof of funds maintained for 28 days, proof that your relationship is genuine, tb test and pay nhs fee. Download this document and digest it.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-for-dependants-of-uk-visa-applicants-tiers-1-2-4-5

My partner applied some months ago and we didn't submit any proof of English. Here is a link to the documents submitted for my partner's application. https://www.nairaland.com/2655931/general-uk-visa-enquiries-part/477#69102226

Also, post your questions on this thread instead, it specifically addresses visa queries https://www.nairaland.com/2655931/general-uk-visa-enquiries-part

Thanks for sharing your experience, really reassuring.
But I noticed you mentioned 28 days for proof of funds, are you sure about this? Cos what I see on the guidance notes is £630 for 90 days. Has it changed?

She needs to prove she can communicate appropriately in English language.......

So in essence, either is required........
And my budget just increased. it is well, will get to work on it.
Thanks.

Why does she not require Number 3?
Does she require IELTS/UKNARIC? I'm not sure that's why I'm asking. I know the main applicant requires it, but I'm not sure if the dependent requires one, I've not seen it in the guidance notes for dependents. hence my asking.

Hello house, how weather.
So I'm preparing to apply for the visa (Tier 2 dependent) of my wife and kid.
I have some assumptions about the process/requirements, please gurus correct me if I'm wrong.
For my kid, I believe I just need to pay the required fees, proof of funds £630 and birth certificate. I assume he doesn't need to do medicals.
For my wife;
1. She needs police clearance
2. Medicals
3. I assume she doesn't need proof of language proficiency (IELTS/UKNARIC)
please is there anything I'm missing? Or am I wrong about any of my assumptions? Especially that language proficiency part, does my wife need it?

It's still a draft legislation and has not been through the final reading stages. So old fee is still applicable.....

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukdsi/2018/9780111172995/article/3

NB : It goes against conservative manifesto, but we know they would silently pass it....... Why not? So far they have raised over £600,000,000.........
God make the thing remain draft until my family land. May the spirit of Saraki and Dogora and Melaye possess them in this matter only until my family land, making the bill to go back for amendment and amendment and amendment until my family touch down at Heathrow.
Can I hear an Amen from somebody.

Abeg who knows when the new fees for the IHS surcharge becomes effective. I thought it was meant to be this December but I'm still seeing £200 per annum on UK gov website.
I'm preparing to apply for my family to join me but the news of the IHS surcharge increase is causing trouble on budget.
Somebody please tell me Parliament hasn't had time to approve the increase because of the headache brexit is giving them.

At times I wonder what some people are looking for in a UK migrant thread. I won't come here if I'm not interested in living in UK. Please somebody should tell me what some people are looking for here, especially those that already. know that life in naija is far better than life in the UK. Just curious.

If I am correct it takes 3months for processing but priority takes 3weeks or so. Just check the processing time for the category of visa you want for updated info.

In other news, IHS fees will increase to £400 per year because the govt spend an average of £420 on individual immigrant. UK and money shocked
Just read it on their site now, from December 2018. it really ain't funny at all. That's roughly 200k naira nearly. Don't think I've spent 200k naira on hospital bills my entire life. The annoying part is that they call it free healthcare.
Anyway can't complain much, na me carry myself come UK. If I no like am na to go back to my fatherland

ALL I wanted was to get a 2 bed property in Cambridge ohhhh

The monthly rent is £900

I browsed RightMove and found a property marketed by HAART.

These are the monies thy want me to pay first.

Please my people, how do I get to deal directly with a Landlord?

I need help on tips....

1. Tenancy Set-Up Fee
£330 incl. VAT for one tenant
£78 incl. VAT for each additional tenant

2. Guarantor Referencing and Deed of Guarantee Fee
£78 incl. VAT for each guarantor required

3. Check-In fee £120 including VAT for a studio property + £10 per additional bedroom.

4. End of Tenancy Fees: Extension Set-Up Fee £188.80 incl. VAT

5. Change of Sharer Fee
£330 incl. VAT
£78 incl. VAT for each additional tenant

6. Landlord Reference Fee
£30 incl. VAT per reference requested
£900 for Cambridge? Is this Cambridge city or in one of the surrounding towns? I've not seen anything good below £1200 in Cambridge. I've given up on living in Cambridge city, considering Camborne and St Ives. Camborne looks really nice with their new houses. I also observed some of the agents in St Ives offer this No deposit option which I'm still studying to know the downsides.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by sutelk: 8:42pm On Nov 17, 2018
Hello guys. When trying to rent a house and you see "Non deposit option available" what does it really entail? I imagine it means you don't get to pay the month and a half security deposit which most landlords request and this sounds strange to me cos I would imagine the landlord will then demand some other form of security. Has anyone here rented such "non deposit option" properties before? What did it entail?

Oga sultek, please confirm how long it takes for CoS to be out on average once an employer applies for one.
Usually about a month from when they apply. But in my case it took about 3 months to get my COS from when I got the job. About 2 months sorting issues on their side like references and other HR issues before they applied then another one month to get it after they applied.

Good morning Guys,

I hope we are all enjoying the weather. Its getting to me already o so i'm dressed like a masquerade in the house. Trying to push it as far as i can before using the heater.

I passed my Driving Theory Test, all Thanks to God, although that Hazard Perception na border line tins. I used Theory 4in1 app, it did a good job and it took me about a week plus, although serious studying and good sticky memory should be able to achieve it in 3days.
Booked for the practical already and got a driving school, £25/hour. I told them i've got only 5 lessons to do, whichever way they wana do it, its up to them. Low and behold, it wasn't as bad as i thought, first lesson was good and i did't face one-way, lol.

Just to give you all a heads up.

Its been silent here though, where are you guys @fatima04, @lexusgs430, @wonlasewonimi, @iamconfused, @sutelk, @Inkredible, @DaveChapelle...

5 lessons? Hmm, following seriously, maybe I may use 2. Not taken this driving thing seriously, don't know if its because its so convenient for me to move around in public transport or because of the fear of failing going by the testimonies of those that have attempted before me. Met a guy this week who told me he has been trying since 2015. But this your 5 classes target is giving me hope. Go come back.
As per weather, if you think you look like masquerade, with until you see me. And I made the big mistake of shaving my head 2 days ago, now my brain has no natural insulation. I think I now have an excuse to grow my afro, now I can say its the weather not the money.

I told guys in the office and they confirmed there's a law prohibiting such acts but I have to call the police. Maybe they were that bold because they knew nobody bothers calling the cops.

Never seen anything like this in my life, even the ones I see in the parks at night don't go this far. Is there no law against this in this country? What happens if a kid on the way to school suddenly walks in. Na wah oh. The girl no even fine sef.

You can work for another employer but must not be more than 20hrs a week. But no such restriction for the dependant
Thanks, I get that. But do I have to inform my main sponsor that I am taking up extra work? Will I get into trouble if I don't inform them?
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by sutelk: 9:26pm On Sep 22, 2018
My elders I greet you, your boy needs your experienced counsel.
I'm on a Tier 2 visa, I'm aware I'm allowed to do extra jobs, or so I believe. So an opportunity to earn some extra cash with my spare time has propped up. I can't remember, but I think I've read somewhere that if I have to take up additional jobs then I have to inform my current employer/sponsor, don't remember where I read this.
The issue now is that those that want to connect me with the extra job are advising me not to mention it to my line manager, they say I won't get into any trouble as I'm not doing anything illegal. They say informing my line manager will only make them start looking for faults which they can blame on the fatigue resulting from overworking myself.
What's your take guys? I'm tempted by the extra cash, but not too comfortable with informing my line manager, but I want to be sure I won't get into any trouble if I don't inform my line manager.

Good day house.
I intend to register with a GP in the coming week. Besides my passport and BRP do I need any other documents? I one read a comment on this thread where someone reported that she was asked to get a letter from home office, do I need any such letter?
I'm not reporting sick but I've been advised to just register. Thanks.

My people, I have gist o.

So I work in a bank. I was always so happy to teach my colleagues how to pronounce Nigerian names, or just point out that a customer they are working on is of Nigerian descent.

I just got moved to another department and Lord knows that shame have finish me! I’m now in collections- debt management, where you work on people that owe money to the bank or defaulted on loan/credit card payments.

Is it safe for me to safe that every 3 in 10 cases I work on is a Nigerian? Like why? Why borrow money if you won’t return it. By the time I got to the 8th Nigerian defaulter, I was so disgusted!

Nigerians in the UK are lucky to have credit card schemes and affordable loans. It’s OK to finance things you can/can’t afford straight up. But NO, it’s not ok to borrow money and not pay back. Haba. 3 in 10 cases of default payments being Nigerian? I’m so ashamed.

Like when I hear colleagues struggling to pronounce Nigerian names, I mind my business o- let them think the person is from another African country, not my own country!
Thank God my name no de there, cos even you for no fit pronounce my name. Something says I should come and borrow self considering I may get away with it because my name is difficult to pronounce.
On a serious note, still wondering why people delight in igbese. I've been tagged an alien at work cos I refused to take this £3000 loan usually given to new staff. They say its my entitlement but I'm wondering why they won't dash me the money. They say my eyes go soon open that I can't survive here without borrowing, till then. How will I Just collect money I don't need.

To reside in Doctor or Nurses quarters?
The place didn't look like a staff quarters, though he pointed out that majority of the residents there were NHS workers, they got in through the NHS housing scheme. While their co tenants not with the NHS paid over £2k pcm.
My hospital has staff quarters too but the cost isn't too different from what obtains in town, in fact its more expensive, the only good sides are you don't pay deposits and you live a working distance from work.

I also stayed off London when I was looking for a job in the UK but still landed in Cambridge, another expensive city, and I don't get the high cost of living allowance and the easy access to plantain, banga and ewedu that our folks in London enjoy.
Everything is information, I met a family in London 2 weeks ago, they pay £400 pcm for a 2 bedroom flat around Upton park. They told me of this NHS housing scheme which operates in London. Don't know if you are a NHS worker, if you are then you may want to look that up.
