I use RELTEL, the speed is 230kbs. I pay N10,000 monthly subscription for 24/7. I've no complain.

@ Invisible,

It'll be a welcome idea to have more American companies in Naija than all these Chinese and Indian sub-standard slave driver companies.

No worry we go pay you the $1,000 if their private placement go first land for Nairaland.

GTBank, Zenith Top KPMG Customer Survey

A survey by KPMG professional services has named GTBank and Zenith Bank as the nation’s best banks in terms of customer satisfaction. While GTBank led in retail banking, Zenith Bank retained its top position from last year as the best in corporate banking.
In the retail-banking segment, the survey released yesterday, showed that GTBank led other banks in customer satisfaction with 80.03 points. Zenith Bank and Intercon-tinental Bank followed in the second and third positions respectively.
Zenith Bank however led in the corporate banking segment, while GTBank and Stanbic-IBTC followed in the second and third positions.
The 2008 survey was expanded to achieve more national coverage and to incorporate feedback from the retail segment in addition to the corporate customers on which the 2007 edition was focused.
The survey canvassed the opinion of about 5,000 individuals and 260 businesses on the quality of service delivery by Nigerian banks.
In the 2008 survey, service quality displaced financial stability as the most important factor in the choice of a bank by Nigerian customers.
The survey, which was conducted over a period of seven weeks in January and February, was carried out in eight locations across the country - Aba, Abuja, Calabar, Ibadan, Kano, Kaduna, Lagos and Port Harcourt.
Retail customers were randomly selected in each location while corporate customers were sampled from the 2007/08 edition of the top 500 companies in Nigeria published by GoldStar Publications.
In the survey, a deliberate attempt was made to ensure that the corporate respondents included the biggest companies in each sector of the economy.
Feedback was through interviews with each organisation’s chief finance officers, finance directors, treasurers and other personnel playing a major role in the banking relationship interface.
According to the survey, while respondents expressed a generally good level of satisfaction with the banks, there was minimal differentiation in ratings below the top two positions.
“This represents an opportunity for banks in that band to break away by seeking ways to further improve their existing service delivery frameworks and providing a ground- breaking experience.
“In the retail banking sector, GTBank came ahead of the other banks, coming first in three categories, with Zenith Bank following closely behind. Diamond, on the other hand, was first in one category and third in three other categories,” the survey stated.
According to the survey, “Zenith Bank held tenaciously to its position as the most customer focused bank for the corporate banking segment. Following closely in the second position was GTBank and in the third place was Stanbic-IBTC.
“Despite the fact that corporate banking customers generally expressed above average satisfaction (about half of the banks obtained a rating of 75 per cent and above), corporate customers appeared slightly less enthused this year. It was observed that there was a general drop in the satisfaction rating among the top ten customer-focused banks in this segment compared with last year’s figures.”
The survey showed that Zenith Bank’s corporate customers rated the bank best in two customer service areas - transaction methods and systems and convenience - where the bank took the lead position.
In addition, the bank came second in two other categories - customer care and product/ service offerings.
Three other banks - GTBank, Diamond Bank and Afribank - took the first position in the customer care, product/service offering and pricing categories respectively.

N100bn IPO: First Inland to allot full value to subscribers
By Agency Reporter
Published: Monday, 17 Mar 2008
Subscribers to the First Inland Bank Plc’s N100bn Public Offer may not lose sleep over whether their subscription will be accepted or not as the bank says it will absorb every excess fund accruing from the offer.

According to a statement by the bank on Friday, the Managing Director, Mr. Okey Nwosu said this after a courtesy call on the Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi in Awka.

He said the bank’s management had already begun discussions with the capital market authorities on how to absorb excess funds arising from the offer.

“First Inland Bank Plc recently visited the capital market to raise N100bn. But the capital market has had to contend, recently, with refund of monies from companies after over-subscribed public offers,” the statement said.

It quoted Nwosu as saying that although the bank raised over a N100bn from the capital market, “we are not planning to dislodge any subscriber or return excess funds from the exercise. Rather, we are talking with the authorities of the capital market on how to absorb all subscribers.”

He had told Obi in Awka that, with 12 branches spread across Anambra State, the bank had the highest number of bank branches in the South East, it said.

He added that this was a testimony to the bank’s realisation of the economic potential of the state.

According to the statement, Nwosu described the Anambra State Integrated Development Strategy, a baby of the Obi administration as a fantastic initiative. This, the bank said, had given priority to educational development

Abeg, I need e- Anti PO vaccine, as per distance between us. I need to get immune to ALL POs & IPOs asap.

I know the market is highly saturated now. I'll wait a while to re-invest my refund. Keep the candles burning.

Computers / Re: Problem: Some Websites Not Opening With Starcomms by Sweetaura1(f): 8:51pm On Dec 24, 2007
I use RELTEL data card, the speed is 230.4kbps. Ever since I switched to Reltel I've been at peace with my system. I always get lost days back due to upgrade.

I also have Starcomms' data cards, both 1x & broad band, but they're in the cooler now.

We're yet to get a reliable ISP operator in the country, until that's done let's manage what's available. There'll be a significant change in 2008 when MUBADALA and VISAFONE will commence operation then the competition will be on DATA and not VOICE.

Your boss must be heartless or anti-marriage, except there is something you're not telling us. Otherwise, quit the job and marry your heart throb because your boss will definitely give you the boot.

Just like Seun said you can always find another job but definitely not another hubby so soon.

@ Aylala2002,

Nice piece, keep it up.

A friend's got 5,000 Zenith shares and intends keeping it. I advised her to sell at the TS rate and buy back at PO rate, to earn extra 1,000 shares but she's hesitant.

Please advise.

@ Zenith Bank & Zenith Securities Nairalanders,

Kindly explain to me why your Bank must subject shares subscribers to make payment by Bank draft only. I was at your Ogunlana branch this afternoon to pay for my BAGCO shares and I was given a form to fill. I was then told to go make payment to the cashier. I told the lady that from my calculation 25,000 should be worth N97,5000, and NOT N98,733. I asked her if I was suppose to pay commission for subscription when BAGCO will pay the Bank and the issuing house for handling the transaction.

The lady told me the Bank operates by NSE policy which states that ALL transactions on shares MUST be by Bank draft. I told her I'm a big time investor and that I've always paid cash through the Banks even when I've to pay into my Broker's account.

I just see this as an extra income for Zenith Bank and only fools will fall for this. If we must pay by draft, how will the layman or non-account holder subscribe for shares.

Cheers
Romance / Re: Romance With My Subordinate? (I'm Married) by Sweetaura1(f): 7:45pm On Nov 21, 2007
Let's stop giving the poster "holier than thou" responses. I believe he must have tried resolving his differences with his wife before throwing it to the floor for contribution.

According to one of his posts by Wham his wife had been having an extra-marital affair, which probably prompted his office affair.

I know in the African contest marriage is a "forever bond" that MUST not be broken even if the couple are very unhappy in the union. This should not be so. Any marriage not ordained by God will hardly work. These days people go into marriage for some selfish reasons and once into it they start discovering their differences and hence, extra marital affairs.

I'll advise the poster to seek marital counselling with the wife. If it works out , fine. If not go your different ways. You both might find happiness with your new spouses. Why would you continue to live together deceiving people that all is well, while you're very unhappy. This's why the Western world is miles ahead of us. You've only got one life to live, enjoy the best of it.

I hope this will interest those of you holding on to WEMA. I was at my Broker's today to subscribe for Japaul, while chatting with the GM, one of the officials came in to brief him about the day's trades. He mentioned how WEMA mopped 190M units of its shares just to douse its Monday's publication.

He said the Bank had earlier pumped in N4 billion in mopping the shares. He concluded that this strategy will definitely back fire when core investors discover their game.

I heard Dangote flour is HIGHLY over subscribed and its Oceanic registrars are working 24/7. Refund is likely.

A word is enough for the wise.

@ Mamajama,

Thanks, I wonder what she meant by lies.

@ MoOdyLady,

Since you didn't mention which is a lie, I hope this explains it better:

1. I survived a plane crash in 1995. It was a HARKA plane from Kaduna to Lagos.

2. If you've been following the California fire on CNN you would have seen the helicopters fetching water from the sea. My
family stay in LA and I've been hooked on to CNN since the fire started. Satisfied?
Politics / Re: California On Fire by Sweetaura1(f): 6:40pm On Oct 25, 2007
This is very very pathetic, insurance or no insurance. Have you EVER imagined having a home this minute and the next minute you're homeless. Or watching your house go up in flames. If there's anything I'm scared of, it's fire.

I once survived a plane crash in Nigeria where about 20 passengers died. The first firefighting vehicle that came to the airport had no water, our saving Grace was that it was raining. I was really amazed when I saw helicopters fetching water from the ocean to put out fire in San Diego on CNN yesterday.

We have to be grateful and thankful to God for not  having such natural disasters experienced in the Western world.

This is the best thread on Nairaland and it's for serious minded investors. I've been a guest for about a year before registration. When I want to trade a stock I always refer to this thread, then have a final discussion with my pal before I hit the market.

My candid advise to the green horns is ALWAYS buy IPO / PO few days to the closing date. You would have gotten all the necessary information about the Company & the shares you're investing in. This will also save you the trouble of buying "trash" all in the name of investment. You can also channel your cash to other investments until 2 days before the close date.

Talking about Brokers, they're all of the same "father", and we need them to play in this sector. (They're necessary evil you can't avoid). You have to keep a VERY good record of all your stocks. You can create a spread sheet for it.

For over 6 years my account officer used to come to my office to pick up my certificates, dividends and do all my transactions in my office just because I didn't have time. I noticed some disparities in my transactions which I reported to the GM and it's been resolved.

Now I make out time from my busy schedule to visit my Broker at least twice a month and I registered for TRADE ALERT for my transactions.

So to be a good investor, make out time and take your shares like your baby.
Investment / Re: When Is MTN Coming To The Stock Market? by Sweetaura1(f): 7:46pm On Oct 11, 2007
I can't see this happening because most of these foreign Companies don't want any strings attached to Nigeria. Probably because of our unstable Govt. (eventhough, our economy is very lucrative for them).

All they do is change their profits into Dollars and remit to anywhere BUT Nigeria. If you've ever worked or you're working in any of these Companies you'll understand what I'm saying.
