Nelson Mandela is continuing to respond to treatment at his home in Houghton, according to South African President Jacob Zuma. The former South African president, 95, returned home at the start of September after almost three months in hospital. In his statement, President Zuma thanked the global community for their support but did not go into detail about Mr Mandela's condition. Previous statements have often said he is "critical but stable". Mr Mandela was admitted to hospital in Pretoria in June with a recurring lung condition. 'Very grateful' Family members have spoken of their happiness at having Mr Mandela home again. "Our revered former president continues to respond to treatment at his home," said President Zuma on Wednesday. "His family and our people have warmly welcomed the support he continues to receive from the global community. "We are humbled and very grateful for this support." Mr Mandela has been receiving intensive care at his home in a suburb of Johannesburg, which has been specially adapted for his care. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate is revered around the world for leading the fight against white minority rule and preaching reconciliation with the white community despite being imprisoned for 27 years. Correspondents say the presidency has been keen to reassure not just the Mandela family but the nation that he is no more vulnerable at home than in hospital. It has called for Mr Mandela's privacy and dignity to be respected. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-24272837 Schoolchildren have been praying for Nelson Mandela outside his home (picture)

Ayoobscom: The Americans British women now have realized the virtue in covering their body.. Lol....they are really converting and any woman who really loves marry n pray in the name of marry should begin by dressing like marry It is horrible what we see on lagos street everyday...one soft, silky rag they wear now to office, market n school with a huge crucifix dangling between a half popping breast Subhanalah....what do they learn in church?@bolded, Virtue in covering? They have discovered virtue in covering, right! Like a fully covered woman Samantha Louise Lewthwaite, who had discovered the same virtue sprinkled bullets on women and children mercilessly, what then is the use of fully covering evil? I would rather see half unclad women than the fully covered but are still involved in committing the most hidious crimes and being used as tools to bring misery in the excuse of being fully covered. I guess omeone may understand the need to cover up such... Just becouse you dress like the angel that does not change the fact that you human and flawed.I guess Samantha's family wish their daughter had never discovered this particularr virtue that has brought them pain and shame. NOW WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? It beats me! ![]()

Story, story, story... And they way the article is written is suspect (especially the bolded) ... horror at what looks like a religion that deems women inferior. What doesn’t really seem to add up is that even though Islam seems to be the least appealing way of life for women, more and more intelligent, educated, independent women in the West feel that Islam showed them what it was to be true to their womanhood and are actually choosing to live as Muslims. Now why would they want to do that? To be honest, I would completely understand why someone might think Islam was an unattractive choice for women. When Islam is mentioned in the popular media, it is often mentioned alongside horrible stories and without much of a Now why do I not believe that? ![]() |
I really hope South Africa panics as the article puts it, Panic is good for a healthy mind to operate at a higher level. While on the other hand Nigerians are quick to celebrate and be despondent forgetting that there are many rivers to cross and mountains to climb for the Nigerian market to be considered low risk and best destination for investors in Africa. Nigeria will have to convince investors that they are capable of turning the tide around to a positive on the following: 1. terrorism, 2. corruption, 3. security 4. Infrastructure challenges 5. Oil theft 6. Fraud Which for now are major issues in investors minds. With the likes of Shell threatening to totally withdraw that cannot be encouraging to other investors. While the "panicking"South Africa continues to majorly invest in Nigera and Africa as whole by the time you sort out your drama, guess who will be standing to beneffit from the foreign global investments in Nigeria? South Africa, bebe! ![]() My advice is to stop celebrating SA's panic mode and not measure yourself to a country less populated and more developed, with less to non of the issues listed above. And start measuring yourself to the world. African economies are nothing much to right home about being 1, or 2 in Africa and no show in the world is no achievement and something to "panic" over. ![]() |
Horus: All of the 10-15 terrorists can't be all at the same place at the same time in front of the same CCTV camera on the same floor. The Westgate Mall in Nairobi is huge with several floors. I don't have any others pictures ![]() |
Hbuyosh: The terrorists have been killed, they are matyrs now. They are soaring to heaven to meet Allah who will provide them with 72 virgins, (so the desire for great sex is the motivating factor here). But i am not sure about the female terrorists' reward, 72 male virgins? One lady multiple partners. Is that even islamic? This is not a religion, it is a CULT!Wow! The trick is not to die a virgin when you are a moslem girl, whats the use? You avoid one pencil here, you get there and 72 kokomasters who blew themselves just to come ravage your well saved vg. Life is cruel but in this case afterlife is ravagengly worse. Think about! Onila girl? Oh by the way you not muslim. ![]() |
This is just sickening! Somefools where using SA passport to export drugs to the world now they are using our passport to export terrorism to the world. Zuma better find those marraf-ers punish the hell out of them and then expell them from our country. We never needed visa to the UK now we need one becouse of the easy availability of our passports to goons. I wonder now what will the UK & US require for us to travel when we have graduated to making passports be available to cold blooded killers who kill women and children. ![]() Regtig, hierdie een maak my naar sies maan. Bloody agents! |
http://www.iol.co.za/news/africa/sa-to-probe-white-widow-passport-1.1581895#.UkHNNXot2tA Cape man killed in Nairobi mall siege Mall gunmen ‘ready to die’ Johannesburg - The department of home affairs is prepared to work with Kenya in determining the validity of a South African passport linked to a member of Al-Shabaab involved in the attacks in Nairobi, spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa said on Tuesday. “The government has not had sight of the alleged passport, nor has it received an official communiqué from the Kenyan officials,” Mamoepa said. He said should such a notice be received, the state would then act on it. “Given our good bilateral relations, we stand ready to co-operate with the Kenyan authorities to determine the validity of the passport,” he added. The Beeld reported on a so-called “white widow”, a woman in possession of a false South African passport and believed to have been instrumental in the planning and execution of the recent terror attacks in Nairobi. The newspaper reports that Kenyan officials were investigating Samantha Lewthwaite, who is married to British Islamic militant Jermaine Grant, currently on trial in Mombasa for possession of explosives. A Free State professor, Hussein Solomon, was quoted in the newspaper saying Lewthwaite was commonly known to move between Britain, Kenya, South Africa and Pakistan. “It is known that when she was in the country earlier this year, she was in Fordsburg and in Mayfair (Johannesburg). She managed to get into the country although her name is on the Interpol list of wanted people,” Solomon was quoted as saying. Solomon reportedly spent the last year in Kenya studying the Al-Shabaab organisation and its actions. A photograph of the faked South African passport was reportedly published on Monday in various British newspapers, in the name of 'Natalie Faye Webb'. Lewthwaite was apparently a regular visitor to the country and used the South African passport as one of different aliases whenever she travelled.

Heritage Day (Public Holiday) Celebrate South African cultural diversity Heritage day (24 September), also known as National Braai Day as the result of a pointed 2005 media campaign, was not originally intended to be an official South African public holiday. But when the Inkatha Freedom Party, a political party with a large Zulu membership, refused to sign the Public Holiday’s Bill that was being presented to the Parliament of South Africa because it omitted the inclusion of Shaka Day, a day that commemorated the famous Zulu King Shaka, a concession was made. Quite aptly, just as King Shaka was instrumental in uniting Zulu clans into a cohesive nation, Heritage Day (appointed in place of King Shaka Day) encourages South Africans to come together to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and the diversity of our rainbow nation. Former South African President Nelson Mandela concisely explained it when he said the following in a Heritage Day speech: "When our first democratically-elected government decided to make Heritage Day one of our national days, we did so because we knew that our rich and varied cultural heritage has a profound power to help build our new nation”. Three-metre high sculpture, created by Cape Town artist Jean Doyle, unveiled outside the newly renovated South African embassy A statue of former South African president Nelson Mandela was unveiled Saturday outside the South African Embassy in Washington, D.C., the site where four protestors were arrested in 1984 —an event credited with spurring anti-apartheid sanctions against South Africa. The 3 meter statue, a replica of the sculpture outside the gates of Drakenstein Correctional Centre in South Africa where Mandela was released after 27 years in apartheid-era jails, is the work of South African artist Jean Doyle, who modeled the sculpture from photographs of Mandela leaving the prison in 1990, his fist is raised triumphantly over his head. Ebrahim Rasool, South Africa’s ambassador to the United States, noted the statue stands across the street from a statue of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who is also depicted with his hand over his head but with two fingers raised, flashing the V for victory sign. Suggesting the two statues are engaged in a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors, Rasool noted that “rock beats scissors.” A plaque at the base of the statue quotes from Mandela's address to a joint session of Congress months after his release in 1990. “The stand you took established…that here we have friends…fighters against racism who feel hurt because we are hurt, who seek our success because they too seek the victory of democracy over tyranny. I speak… of the millions of people throughout this great land who stood up and engaged the apartheid system in struggle. Let us keep our arms locked together so that we form a solid phalanx against racism…Let us ensure that justice triumphs without delay.” http://m.voanews.com/a/1754581.html
