JMOI: "Reasons why" Sounds like a grammatical error to me By the way, I strongly believe that none of the parties are really willing to go to war. Obama probably knows the cost of war more than anybody out there, especially with the fragile economy of the US. Secondly, if the US launches an attack in Syria, the latter and its allies are likely to retaliate. They'll most definitely strike Israel as well as US installments in the region. Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah have always been spoiling for war with Israel and they might see this as the opportune moment to strike. Add Russia and China to the equation and things become even edgier. Of course, if Israel is attacked, they will reply in three folds and that will mean a total annihilation of Lebanon and Damascus.
The US does not actually want to go to war, they are doing this in order to mount pressure on Assad to make him give in to their conditions and also give the rebels an upper hand, because he (Assad) has proven too strong for them. The fact is that there are many parties involved and going to war will be tantamount to Obama declaring War World III, bearing in mind that all the major actors in this game (Russia, Syria, China, Israel, the US, Hezbollah, Iran, Britain and France) possess nuclear weapons. My brother your analysis is somhow in line but i assure you, Russia and China will neva engage US but Hezebolla and Iran will definetly attack Israel but that shouldn't be problem. to avert war assad will step down and political solution sort. but i assure you after assad hezebolla question will be raised and dealt with. |

I appreciate Putins appeal, i equally observed that it is dangerous to wait for concensus in UN while thousands are dieing and millions displaced. The people of Syria need help and that help cannot come from within but from outside. Politicians don't care if the whole country turn to heap of rubbles to satisfy their power ego. it is dangerous to allow dangerous weapon to exist in middle east since that region is highly volatile. imagine the abuse of chemical weapon in Syria. Russia should equally appeal to Assad to step down not because of pressure but for the sake his country. Moslems should learn how to torelate others, the unnecessary civil war in Iraq is not to be blamed on America but on Sunnis and Shiites. America went to Iraq to protect their interest but the Iraqians failed to protect their own interest after American withdrawal. Same in Afganistan and Libya. If no country takes pain like America to deter politicians and political cults around the world then the world will turn to something different. if the world left Syria to resolve their internal crisis, that war will go on for years to come. it will create the worst humanitarian crisis of the era. Security council is increasingly becoming a debating arena rather than where concrete actions will be taken to resolve world crises. it is dangerous for our world today. If American did not threaten with military strike, the world would have been watching the abuse of WMD in Syria while millions will be dying. I accept the Russian proposal, but Assad should step down, sieze fire announced and interim govt instituted to reconcile the country and conduct election. |

ayobase: According to Genesis 1:22-27, "26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
God created these set of people on the sixth day.
And in Genesis 2:7-8 "7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
I would have said the latter was the manifestation of the former, but Cain's issue complicated things in Genesis 4:16-17. He found a wife in the land of Nod and married there. I don't think Adam and Eve gave birth to those!
Back to the question or conclusion, one can certianly say God created some set of people before Adam and Eve. i observed frm gen 4 and 5 that the bible was only recording sons and daughters were not mentioned. That does not mean that daughters were not born. The bible only takes note of sons. The jewish traditn also adopted this custom. Check d incidence when christ fed the multitude they only mentioned the number of men ignoring women. That does not imply that women were not there. My little understanding. |

supereagle: A retired Brigadier-General and Chief of Staff, 3rd Marine Commando, during the Nigeria civil war, Godwin Alabi-Isama, has disclosed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was not only clueless during the war, but acted as a weakling in many instances. According to General Alabi-Isama, Chief Obasanjo exhibited a lot of weaknesses that did not portray him as a gallant soldier throughout the period he served the army during the war. In an interview published in the current edition of TheNEWS magazine, our sister publication, the retired General punctured a lot of claims in My Command, a book written by the former President chronicling his experience in the war. According to him, Obasanjo never wanted to be part of the war. He was so scared of death that he evaded every opportunity to go to the battle front. He disclosed that retired General Alani Akinrinade picked Obasanjo to lead the troop after Benjamin Adekunle was dropped as the commander following an alleged unethical conduct. “Gowon was not sure that Obasanjo would want the job of replacing Adekunle because he was an engineer…Gowon said we should contact him. “When we met Obasanjo, we told him our mission and gave him a comprehensive briefing on the situation at the war front. We went with maps and explained to him the defects of Adekunle’s plan to attack the Igbo heartland. “We aso told him about Operations Pincer 1, 2 and 3 and explained that if Pincer 2 was adopted, the war would end in 30 days. “We spoke for three hours without food or drink. Obasanjo simply listened. “And when he spoke, he said he was an engineer and he was not going to the war front. He also said we wanted to have him killed by nominating him for a spot at the war front,” the retired soldier said, adding that this comment got him angry and that he reacted instantly by reprimanding Obasanjo. He said he reminded Obasanjo at the venue of their meeting how he and his engineering corps were unable to blow up the bridge in Ore when the Biafran army were advancing to Lagos and how the situation was salvaged by Mr. Akinde of the Public Works Department at Ibadan, assisted by men of the Ministry of Works. “I was so incensed that I continued to pour venom on him,” he added. Alabi-Isama said as against Obasanjo’s claim that he ordered the bridge to be blown up, the idea actually came from the wife of then Governor Adeyinka Adebayo. He explained that she was the one who suggested to Obasanjo that the action be carried out. When Obasanjo eventually took over as the Commander of the 3rd Marine Commando, Alabi-Isama said he and Akinrinade gave him a comprehensive briefing, but that he refused to listen because of the grudge he haboured from his first encounter with Alabi-Isama. As a result of this, his first battle experience, according to Alabi-Isama, was a disaster. Emphasising Obasnajo’s cluelessness, he said the first decision he made when he took up the leadership of the troop was to start paying the soldiers on the battle field by allotment. “He ordered an attack on Ohoba, some 40 kilometres from Owerri, just four days after taking over from Adekunle. He did not even know that we had to plan,” Alabi-Isama explained, adding that Obasanjo lost 1, 400 men in the attack, something that never happened before he took over, because he refused to listen to advice. In another incident, the retired General said Obasanjo ran away from the scene of an attack claiming he was heading to Port Harcourt, an eight hour journey, to get ammunition for the same battle when he could ordinarily radio the army headquarters. He described Obasanjo as completely incompetent and inefficient, saying the former President never went to battle even as a commander during the war. “For instance, he went to inspect Colonel Iluyomade, but when he got there, there was shooting. He quickly got into his jeep and ran away. “He was shot in the buttocks while running. A general will be shot in the chest, and not in the buttocks,” said the army general, who is set to launch a book titled The Tragedy of Victory: On-The-Spot Account of The Nigeria-Biafra War In The Atlantic Theatre, his own version of the war experience aimed to counter some of the ‘lies’ by Chief Obasanjo.

Your story is interesting, thank you for sharing. I see that as a refreshing answer to the topic: "should we stop giving tithes?" Do i then take it that we should not stop giving tithes?
Like I've been trying to point out, perhaps we should realise that "tithes" are not the problem at all. If we can all see that, it makes me wonder why people are averse to it and try to argue that it has no place in the life of a Christian. It is either it does, or it simply does not. To which I would like a few people opposed to tithes to check this out:
Okay, the Holy Spirit directed the man to take his tithes to Abuja and even pointed out the person he was to give his tithes to. The Spirit did not tell this man that "tithe" has no place in the Christian life. Just an observation to the question: "Should We Stop Giving Tithe?" tithe has no place in christianity "full stop" we can only give freely and to the poor and the needy. tithe is a law in old testament and has no place in NT. the first century christians neva paid tithe and it was not mentioned anywhere in NT. it was when capitalism entered the church that tithe found its way into christianity. the new generation pastors and clergy men are making machendise of people. tithe cannot take anybody to heaven. Even the Iranian that was found with shiploads of militarily grade weapons was not charged for terrorism but for illegal importation and possession of weapons. Capnd143: Iran's Hezbollah Nursing Terror Groups In Nigeria By Dawit Giorgis, Special to CNN
Nigerian authorities last month arrested four Lebanese nationals in northern Nigeria on suspicion of having ties with Hezbollah. After a raid on one of their residences yielded a stash of weapons, including anti-tank weapons, rocket propelled grenades, and anti-personnel mines, the Nigerian State Security Services (SSS) announced that the compound was hosting a terrorist cell tied to the Lebanese Shia movement. The four accused have denied the charges, and are suing the government for wrongful detention.
But even if they are found guilty, other Hezbollah nodes may well remain in Nigeria. The truth is that despite the thousands of miles that separate Nigeria from Lebanon, the country is faced with a growing threat from a Hezbollah doppelganger. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) is a jihadist organization with strong support among the 5 million Shia Muslims, by some estimates, living in Nigeria.
Founded in the early 1980s, it has flourished with cash, military training and support from Iran. Indeed, the roots of the IMN can be traced to the immediate aftermath of the 1979 Iranian revolution, when Nigerian students belonging to the Muslim Student Society traveled to the Islamic Republic and were trained with the goal of establishing an Iranian-style revolution in Nigeria but this however was not possible because Nigeria's 173 million people is not an easy pushover. The leader of the student group was Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, a firebrand Sunni turned Shia religious extremist who was first influenced by the works of Sayyd Qutb, the intellectual force behind Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and whose ideas form the basis of al Qaeda’s ideology today.
Remarkably, Zakzaky switched sides and became an adherent of Shia Islam, encouraged by Iranian funding and training, both religious and military. Since becoming the leader of the IMN in the mid-1980s, Zakzaky has had numerous confrontations with the government, including being imprisoned for nine years. From 1981 to 1984, for example, he was jailed for sedition and for declaring he would recognize no governmental laws or authority except those of Islam.
Fast forward three decades, and Zakzaky is the patriarchal spiritual leader of Shiites in Nigeria, much like Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was in Iran. When he addresses his followers, Zakzaky typically sits under abig portrait of Ayatollah Khomeini and wields rhetoric akin to that of Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah. The subjectof his speeches are what you might expect – heated vitriol aimed at Jews and Israel, in which he portrays Jews as infidels who should be wiped off the map by Allah and encouragement of voilence towards the unbelievers(christians) .
In 1998, for example, the Shiites of Nigeria, under Zakzaky’s leadership, observed Jerusalem Day, mirroring Khomeini’s introduction of a day for expressing solidarity with the Palestinians. He also talks about social justice in Nigeria and building support for Iran’s policies in Africa.
“Iran’s objectives are to establish a local power base to exert influence over the national government and to act against Western interests,” argues Abel Assadina, a senior Iranian diplomat who defected in 2003. Certainly, under Zakzaky’s leadership, the IMN has provided Hezbollah-style military training to hundreds of Nigerians in camps throughout Northern Nigeria. And although the group has yet to launch an attack, it is surely not unreasonable to expect an attempt at some point. As Muhammad Kabir Isa, a senior researcher at Nigeria’s Ahmadu Bello University, told the BBC: “when you embark on military drills, you are drilling with some sort of anticipation. Some sort of expectation.” And the IMN’s propaganda effort also bears a striking resemblance to that of Hezbollah. The movement has had a thriving newspaper, al-Mizan, for more than two decades.
In addition, it has also begun broadcasting its own internet- based Hausa radio station, Shuhada, on the country’s main air waves, similar to Hezbollah’s radio station, Al-Nour. IMN also has plans to start a new TV channel, a move reminiscent of Hezbollah’s al- Manar. Isa has described the movement as “a state within a state.” But this does not mean that IMN is isolated from Nigeria. Indeed, Zakzaky has reportedly worked to ensure that his members are recruited into the army, the police force and the state security establishment.
The IMN has on several account accepted assistance from Terrorist organisations like hezbollah which gives an idea what the muslim group might be having up its sleeves. Another potential terror threat is facing Nigeria, yet backed by over 1 million shiites muslims, will Nigeria be able to face islam and squash the threat or will the opposition keep using the anti-north propaganda to allow the threat grow stronger?
http://globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/14/nigerias-hezbollah-problem/ This report is very correct, I have lived in Kaduna along Zaria Kaduna axis, I have friends that belong to this group. They have not engaged in terrorism but should be in the list as Islamic terrorism is shifting towards west Africa looking for failed state to use as safe haven. |
