A COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING OF THE OSUN STATE CHAPTER OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVE GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA OSUN) HELD AT THE PARTY SECRETARIAT ON SATURDAY 17TH JUNE, 2023.
After an extensive discussion on pertinent matters concerning the Party and the state, the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA Osun) concludes its state executive council meeting held on Saturday, 17th June 2023 at the party secretariat in Osogbo. The following resolutions were reached:
1. APGA Osun reiterates its unwavering dedication to democratic principles, effective governance, and the betterment of the citizens of Osun.

2. APGA Osun commits to upholding the party's motto, objectives, and agenda as outlined in its constitution.

3. APGA Osun recognizes Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the esteemed National Chairman of APGA, duly holding all official authority and the party secretariat.

4. APGA Osun expresses its readiness to support and collaborate with Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa to propel the party to greater heights.

5. A committee will be established to review the membership status of the party in the state.

6. A Membership Drive Committee will be formed to actively recruit new members into the party. This committee will strategize, design, and implement initiatives to attract fresh membership.

7. All committees and groups established by the previous administration are dissolved with immediate effect.

8. APGA Osun is prepared to collaborate with security and government agencies such as the Department of State Security Service (DSS), the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to ensure peace and mutual understanding among the political stakeholders in the state.

9. APGA Osun strongly condemns any form of hate speech directed at any ethnic group. Recently, the party expressed deep concern and strong disapproval of the hate speech propagated by Mr. Adekusibe. The statement emphasizes the importance of unity and harmony among all ethnic groups, urging all Yorubas in Osun State to embrace APGA's motto of "Being your brother and sister's keeper." APGA Osun commended the Nigerian Police Force for promptly apprehending the suspect, Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, who violated the Social Media policy on hate speech.

10. APGA Osun urges Governor Ademola Adeleke to prioritize the welfare of the people of Osun State.

11. APGA Osun calls upon the newly elected Speaker, Rt. Hon. Wale Egbedun, to work closely with Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke in implementing policies and programs that will improve the living standards of the people of Osun State. The party believes that through collaboration, they can achieve significant progress in driving development, enhancing security, and creating a conducive environment for business growth.

12. APGA expresses its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke's leadership style. The governor's proactive approach and swift intervention in matters of utmost concern to the citizens of Osun State have fostered unity, peace, and harmony within the state.

13. APGA Osun commends all the security agencies in the state for their proactive initiatives that have contributed to a peaceful coexistence among the citizens. However, APGA Osun calls for increased cooperation and intelligence sharing between the citizens and the security agencies in the state.

14. Finally, APGA Osun made an appeal to Governor Ademola Adeleke, urging him to ensure the organization of a local government election that is free, fair, and credible.

MY ENCOUNTER WITH THE LATE CHIEF DEJO RAIMI – WOLE ADEDOYIN
My knowledge of Ibadan politics and political strategy primarily stems from my association with the late Chief Dejo Raimi, a prominent figure in the field. Chief Dejo Raimi's political journey began after obtaining a medical degree from a university in Moscow, Russia. He subsequently served as the Chief Medical Officer in the former Oyo State before venturing into politics during the Third Republic. Joining the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Raimi played an active role within the party.
His political career took a significant turn when he was appointed as the Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG) by the late Governor Kolapo Ishola following the successful 1991 election. Additionally, Chief Raimi held the position of National Treasurer in the Yoruba Council of Elders, further showcasing his influence and involvement in political circles.
Beyond his role as a politician, Chief Dejo Raimi was renowned for his astute political tactics and strategies. Although I initially became acquainted with him through a publication in the Nigerian Tribune, it was during his appointment as the Southwest Chairman of a newly established project by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) that I had the opportunity to meet him in person. This initiative, aimed at restructuring and revitalizing the PDP nationwide, appointed Chief Raimi as its Southwest Chairman under the direction of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Prior to our personal encounter, I extensively studied the techniques of Ibadan politics. Before meeting Chief Raimi, I served as the Oyo State Chairman of the Peoples Mandate Party (PMP). However, due to the party's deregistration, I subsequently joined the United Progressive Party (UPP), which was founded by Chief Chekwas Okorie, the former Chairman and founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). My invitation to the UPP came directly from Chief Okorie himself.
During my time as the Foundation Secretary of the United Progressive Party (UPP), I also held the position of National Coordinator for the Conference of Young Nigerian Democrats (CYND). It was through my involvement with CYND that I had the privilege of meeting the Late Chief Dejo Raimi. On the occasion of Chief Dejo Raimi's 80th birthday celebration, I received an official invitation along with other members of CYND. This event proved to be an excellent opportunity for Chief Dejo Raimi to introduce me to some influential grassroots politicians, whom he referred to as his political foot soldiers, with whom he envisioned future collaborations.
In support of Chief Dejo Raimi and his newly appointed position by former President Goodluck Jonathan, our conference created a small solidarity poster that garnered significant attention at the venue of his 80th birthday celebration. This gesture captured Chief Dejo Raimi's interest in my political group, as he became increasingly intrigued by our activities. Interestingly, throughout his lifetime, Chief Dejo Raimi never knew my real name but instead referred to me as "YOUNG DEMOCRAT," a nickname that stuck. This moniker was adopted not only by Chief Dejo Raimi but also by his wife, children, and some of his political allies.
Thanks to Chief Dejo Raimi's influence, I had the opportunity to personally meet prominent figures such as Chief Jumoke Akinjide, the former Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as Rt. Hon. Kehinde Ayoola, the former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and other political heavyweights from Oyo State and the Southwest region.
Chief Dejo Raimi played a pivotal role in expanding my knowledge of the practical political history of Ibadan. He generously shared his experiences and political relationships with icons such as Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Late Chief Kolapo Ishola, Late Chief Meredith Akinloye, Late Chief Adegoke Adelabu (Penkelemesi), Late Chief Adelakun (Eruobodo), former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Late Chief Lamidi Adedibu, among others. It was under Chief Dejo Raimi's mentorship that I learned the intricacies of practical politics in Ibadan and gained valuable insights into the region's political landscape.
During Baba's lifetime, he didn't know me by my name; instead, he referred to me as "Young Democrats." I recall an incident when I asked a personal friend to wait for me at Chief Dejo Raimi's house. We both had an important political matter to discuss with Baba. When my friend arrived and informed the security that Wole Adedoyin had requested the meeting, they relayed the message to Baba. However, Baba claimed not to know anyone by that name, and as a result, the security denied my friend entry into Denton Villa, Baba's residence. When my friend called me to inform me of Baba's response, I chuckled and explained that Chief Dejo Raimi didn't recognize me by my personal name. I advised my friend to return and mention "Young Democrat" instead. He followed my suggestion, and the moment Baba heard "Young Democrat," he ordered his security to grant the young man access.
Furthermore, my initial encounter with Senator Iyiola Omisore also involved Chief Dejo Raimi. It was in 2014 during Senator Iyiola Omisore's governorship campaign. I received an urgent call from Chief Dejo Raimi while I was at home in Akobo. He asked about my location, and I informed him that I was in Ibadan. He instructed me to quickly come to his house at Ikolaba GRA, as I would be joining his wife's political entourage for Senator Iyiola Omisore's campaign grand finale. Senator Iyiola Omisore had personally invited Chief Dejo Raimi’s representatives to the campaign. I promptly got ready, headed to Denton Villa, and joined the others who were already waiting for me, including Chief Dejo Raimi's wife. I arrived on time, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Interestingly, after my father's passing in 2014, I left Ibadan to pursue my political journey in Osun state, despite holding positions as Chairman of three registered political parties and serving as the pioneer Oyo State Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and later the Oyo State Secretary of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP). In 2018, four years later, I contested the Osun 2018 Governorship Election alongside Senator Iyiola Omisore, but under different parties. I represented the Hope Democratic Party (HDP), while Senator Iyiola Omisore ran under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The rest, as they say, is now history.
Eventually, in 2014, the same year my father passed away, my mentor, Chief Nasiru Dejo Raimi, also breathed his last at the age of 81.

Ireyimika aspires to make a positive impact on the lives of fellow young minds through her writing, aiming to bring about transformative change.
Dr. Lola Odeyale Ayo-Fashida is a multi-talented Nigerian professional with a background in Microbiology. However, she has excelled as a Finance and Management Consultant, author, Inspirational Leader, and transformational coach. With a PhD in Personnel Psychology, she has made significant contributions to various sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, education, banking, and consulting. SYNW CELEBRATES TM ALUKO’S 105TH POSTHUMOUS BIRTHDAY

This celebration serves as a testament to Aluko's enduring contributions to Nigerian literature and his profound impact on generations of readers and writers.
T.M. Aluko's literary legacy is adorned with numerous notable works, including the critically acclaimed novels "One Man, One Wife" (1959), "One Man, One Matchet" (1964), "Kinsman and Foreman" (1966), "Chief the Honourable Minister" (1970), and "His Worshipful Majesty" (1973). Through his eloquent storytelling and vivid depiction of Nigerian society, Aluko captured the essence of the nation's cultural and socio-political landscape.
In addition to his fictional works, Aluko shared his life experiences through autobiographical books. In 1994, he published "My Years of Service," an illuminating account of his endeavors as an engineer and university teacher. Furthermore, in his later autobiography, "The Story of My Life" (2007), Aluko delved deeper into his childhood and his experiences as a civil servant, providing readers with a more comprehensive understanding of his remarkable journey.

CGN CHARGES TINUBU TO APPOINT CHRISTIAN AS COMMUNICATIONS MINISTER

Oyo State, Nigeria - June 9, 2023 - The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has provisionally registered the Oyo State Chapter of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) for the purpose of participating in the forthcoming local government election in the state.
This significant milestone was announced today in a statement signed by the Chairman, Oladunni Ariyo Olaitan, and Secretary, Pastor Babatunde Raji. According to the statement, the application of the Hope Democratic Party was favorably considered in pursuance of section 2 of the State Independent Electoral Commission Law of Oyo State 2000 CAP 154, Vol. V Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) wishes to clarify its position regarding the recent court judgment delivered on 6th June 2023, in a suit filed against Chief Victor Ike Oye and INEC by Otunba Camaru Lateef Ogidan and Rubiu Mustapha. The judgment has no effect on the legitimacy of the wards, Local Governments, and States congresses, as well as the National Convention of APGA held on 31st May 2023, which saw the emergence of the Barr Sly Ezeokenwa-led National Working Committee.

In a legal statement issued by the National Legal Adviser of the party Victor Agunzi Esq and made available by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, KSM, provides the following points to support the affirmation of the legitimacy of its National Working Committee:

1. APGA was not a party to the suit, and there was no order made against APGA regarding the conduct of its congresses and National Convention.

2. As APGA was not a party to the suit, it is not bound by the judgment delivered.

3. The Court did not declare Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA.

4. The Court only emphasized the need for parties to obey the Supreme Court judgment delivered on 14th October 2021.

5. The Court affirmed that the status quo, as stated in the Supreme Court judgment, should be maintained before the suit was filed in Jigawa.

6. The Court did not define the specific status quo but left it to the parties involved.

7. The Court of Appeal's judgment, which was affirmed by the Supreme Court, already determined the status quo before the suit in Jigawa. It recognized Chief Victor Ike Oye as the validly elected Chairman of APGA.

8. The Court stated that any action taken by Chief Victor Ike Oye in contravention of a court judgment is null and void. However, it did not find that Chief Victor Ike Oye had violated the Supreme Court judgment.

9. The Court of Appeal, on 2nd June 2023, affirmed the judgment of Hon. Justice James Kolawole Omotosho, which authenticated Dr. Victor Ike Oye as the National Chairman of APGA authorized by law to nominate and forward the names of APGA candidates to INEC.

11. INEC is bound by law to obey the judgment of a superior court, not an inferior court.

APGA asserts that the judgments of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and the validation of Dr. Victor Ike Oye as the National Chairman of APGA all favor its cause. Furthermore, the Court's order restraining INEC from recognizing Chief Victor Ike Oye as the National Chairman does not affect the legitimacy of the current National Working Committee.

The Wards, Local Governments, States Congresses, and the National Convention of APGA were conducted in compliance with the Supreme Court judgment and the Anambra State High Court judgment mandating Chief Victor Ike Oye to conduct these activities before the expiration of his tenure.

This judgment purportedly made pronouncements on the corrected Supreme Court judgment, declaring the Plaintiffs as National Officers of APGA and questioning the authority of the immediate past National Chairman, Dr Victor Ike Oye, to conduct Congresses and the National Convention of APGA.
In a statement released today by the National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, KSM, APGA highlights the irregularities surrounding the proceedings and clarifies the implications of the judgment for the party and the general public.
APGA acknowledges that it would have ignored these perverse and overreaching pronouncements, as the party had no involvement in the proceedings before the said Court. However, the party feels compelled to address the judgment for the benefit of its esteemed members and the general public who may be unaware of its correct implications.
APGA has previously raised concerns regarding the actions taken by Justice Madugu during the proceedings, particularly his ruling on June 2, 2023, which declared an appeal pending before the Court of Appeal as incompetent. Thus, the judgment delivered by the Court comes as no surprise to APGA.
Furthermore, APGA finds it bewildering that the Judge attempted to pronounce upon the tenure of the plaintiffs, which had already expired on May 31, 2023, as per their own claim before the court. Consequently, the court lacked the jurisdiction to deliver the judgment on June 6, 2023.
In light of these facts, APGA firmly asserts that it has no involvement in either the proceedings before Justice Madugu or the judgment delivered by him. As a party, APGA was not a party in the suit and is therefore not bound by the outcome or the judgment purportedly delivered by the Trial Judge.
It is worth noting that the correct interpretation of the Supreme Court Ruling of March 24, 2023, which Justice Madugu delved into, has already been settled by the judgments of two Federal High Courts.
