Today we were able to raise the four corners of the 3 bedroom flat to the required DPC. After we are done with the 3 bedroom we will focus on the room and parlor self contain.
Good work bros, I want to beg you to take good considerations on the pillars as the foundation is too high. Either you use double wall or pillars at close points.

God with you. I still de rest on my own

Good day house, I am about sand filling my site to get the level before the Concrete Stamping. The Land scape was measured at 333Sqm. I already got 5 Trips of Shap Sand of 30 ton delivered on site but my contact said about 10 Trip is needed. I think the 5 already delivered should be enough.
Please advice thanks
You get time for that? Ask them to start filling immediately section by section and yourself see where you need more and make sure it is well compacted. Nevertheless, discuss with your sit helpers

45-50 blocks/bag of 6"
Really??, how strong can that be??
Is never a crime to go for that number if your sharp sand is sharp enough but is advisable to go low as 40 for better safety.

Lol
Well, first off, I'm not a block moulder but a Structural Engineer and I happen to have worked with probably a lot of blocks from block industries and trust me, each and every one of them is strictly profit oriented as in every business venture...and as such, the quality isn't always as great as when you get moulders and pay them to do it at your site, good moulders oo.

You can get someone who would mould, for instance, 45 blocks of 5inches/ bag for like 700-800/bag and trust me, if the moulders know their onions, it will beat anything you can get from the block industries.. Apologies to block industry owners here, I'm not trying to ruin your business.

The number of blocks per bag will strictly depend on your desired quality.. I personally have seen a man build a bungalow with 6inch blocks moulded at 20-22/bag, yea it was a nightmare for bricklayers to cut but that was his choice.
As for sand, very sharp sand is ideal.

Then turning and water will all depend on who you give the stuff to mould, the man who moulded mine na one old papa wey be baba for area, you know like, people commends his work a lot..just look around your environment and also ask around, I'm sure you can get someone to give you what you desire.
Thanks sr. I understand your block is not hollow block we use here. Though depend on your chose but we prefer 35-40 per bag for 9" and 45-50 for 6". Please let your moulder turn the sand like three/four hands for good result and must be thoroughly and periodically wet.

Expenses keeps increasing unexpectedly, increase in work man money, but the grace of God has been helping me through.
The DPC will be high because of the slope in the area, so I will carry out double chaining on the edge with the highest numbers of blocks, then thr others single chaining.
Explain what you mean by double chain sr

Personally, I'll recommend you mould. Get people who can give you a good mix, its way better and less expensive... Plus you will get stronger blocks at lesser costs.
Are you a professional in block making? Please help us explain the processes involve in block making.

How many block per bag of cement, how many head pans of sand, type of suitable sand, how many required turn time, water process and other factors are expected to be explained

Yea,
It's not but it's a way to save but if the money is available you can cast all it shouldn't cost you more than 1 trip of stone.
Like how many bags of cement do you think will finish four bedroom floor? 48-50 right? That is around 120k. Am afraid and pray to God

You can do DPC to some point then leave the others
For example; your dpc should be half around the high part of your foundation by that you have saved money
That is not professional I think. The last experience I hard was laying concrete on the blocks all around the the foundation blocks

Yea, I will maintain that range though I am molding 6inches not 9inches so the mixture might give you two or three more blocks
My 6" is going for 40 per bag. Hope is OK

I molded 35-38 but sometimes the mixture might give you up to 40, so it's not definite
But I will also do a DPC casting when I get to my desired foundation height.
Congrats to you too
I wish you success in your building process.
Maintain 35 per cement bag, please. Though, I introduced pillars at strategic places of the house..
I pray to do dpc/German floor but money money money

Thanks

I used two different molders and one charged 800 per bag
Then I met another guy that collected 700 per bag
So the two molded together but after the first day, I paid the both 700 respectively.
How many blocks per bag of cement?
Make sure you wet the blocks very well to achieve more reliable outcome.

I moulded 37-38 per bag but want to reduce it to not more than 35 with two times wetting.

Congrat bro

The steel structure has been jeopardized and has failed it's purpose. The building completely depend on the load being transmitted to the columns.

However, I suggest he should introduce a new pillar and basket on the concrete cast column base. (No further digging)

OR, bend another bar ( legs) for reinforcement and on each bars of the column and also use dpc beam to chain up the affected columns.

It's a mistake and can happen to anyone, it's better corrected now.

Nevertheless, One good thing about construction is that it's construction.

Thanks
I love your response much. I think he shld introduce parallel iron bars with there legs bend out into all bars and make them rest on the concrete.
Only my opinion not a professional opinion

Foundation

700 blocks of 9" were moulded for the foundation work at the rate of 35 blocks per cement. One and half load of gravel, 30 bags of cement and half load of sharp sand.

1.Swap the kitchen and that small room.

2. The smaller lobby is unnecessary waste of space. Transfer the bedroom doors to the main lobby, then use the small lobby as a wardrobe in the adjoining rooms. The depth of the wardrobe is 620mm + 150mm blockwork=770mm x 2 for both sides which is 1540mm then the remaining space can be shelfed and used as extra storage accesed through the main lobby.
Thanks

Hello professionals and friends on this great forum. I bought a land in Uyo but, unfortunately, the land was a scam. The seller (scammer) even told me to go ahead and do my survey on the property which I did. Although, I just got the survey sketch to enable me get my plan done. The plan was done according to the sketch and all money paid in full to the architect.
Problem now is that, having lost that land, I got another land but, the dimension of the building plan is not entering this new land. Dimensions of the building is 17x11m. Attached is the new land survey sketch. What do you advice? Thanks.
My opinion:
1- do another one or 2- ask the architect to reduce the existing dimension of building.

Though we done see the existing plan maybe one can say something about it
