Hi, I am currently constructing a Mansionette at Imo, in Ilesha.
I also moulded blocks onsite 30blocks/bag.
The issue I noticed about ilesha is the sand.

There is no good sand in Ilesha, it was frustrating. Untill I met a supplier, but the issue is, they are very Dubious people and you need to watch them everytime.

Also the moulded blocks need to be beaten by rain then Dried for 3 sunny days. If its too sunny, wet it thrice daily.

Your number sr. I will like to take you there and see the sand am talking about.

mountmoriah:
they need to mix the sand and the cement very well next time sir, and always try to get good sand for then, sharp sand is better not dagolu, if you can get stone dust, very good for block making
The project is in ILESA, osun state. I don't think we have dagolu here?
Am taking another moulder there tomorrow for trier. Will let him produce one bag under same supervision like the formal therefore if the blocks yield same that mean the sand is bad but I want to suggest the aggregates were not mixed well and I was like teaching them their work. One of them was my labourer when I was in practice before he became bricklayer hence I trust his comments.
God appreciate you sr. I think no one will see to my case.
Thanks.

What type of sand is that?

Sharp sand

Prdo:

Layman opinion: Not watering the blocks, not mixing sand and cement properly and may be not enough cement in the mixture despite your instructing them to make 25 -30 blocks per bag of cement.
I did the watering myself. I watered it the second day and the third day with plenty water.

I think a bag goes for 25-30 is still within the standard.

I want to belief the problem is from mixing the materials/components together.

Let me ask if there is any sharp sand that could be the reason for substandard blocks

Properties / Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Takoro13(m): 6:38pm On Jan 24, 2019
Good day brothers and sisters, what could be the reason for the error in hand mould block. I was there with them and the produced 25-30 blks per cement for 9". On getting there today I discovered some are very strong and some can't be held from either sides.

I am weak and tired.

Please help.

If not for the fact that I want strong blocks to avoid crack and others I would have go for buying.

I want to know the reason for this problem

Expact advise is need. I want block makers (manual/hand moulders) to produce 35 blocks per cement bag for me but they insist on produce 27-29 blocks per cement of 9" Are they right to tell me 35 blocks per bag of cement is no good or what? What advice would you give on 6" per cement.

Thanks

this is why I don't deal with Nigerians. So sad that some Nigerians would deliberately cheat people. I do my business plain and clear. Anything less of that is no go area for me. I have been in real estate for over 12yrs in America. I'm never gonna allow nincompoops to take advantage of my hard earned wealth. All my properties I bought, I did Due Deligenge before making big move. I am never gonna be maga.

Not only Nigerians leaders are guilty of corruption but the people as well. I don't know why they always have negative thoughts like scams. The others day I met a Nigerians who has dental problem but he has no papers to have insurance coverage. So I said he should go to general hospital because theirs is cheaper and you pay little by little monthly. And at some point they write it off. Guess what he said?. He asked me if he can give them fake name and wrong address and get treatment?. I said why do you people always have negative mindset.

Is it wise to plaster the inner walls first before

No Sir that is not the point. U need a smaller size of granite if u are casting something like lintel and column in order for the output of the finished concrete surface to come out fine. While u need a bigger size of granite for casting of oversight concretes, (German floor) retaining walls, concrete slabs in order to give u more strength .
So, what granite size do you recommend for oversite concrete and lintel work? Thanks

Take it or leave it, accessing a bedroom directly from a family living is a design flaw. As a married man how comfortable can u be knowing that whatever you do or say can be heard from the next room? Ok, ur cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws are they not part of ur family, abi they'll not be allowed into the family living? or imagine trying to take a nap and your kids are busy making noise, you go shout "keep quite" tire.
I don't understand why we are more considered on been disturbed than giving immediate access to other rooms like that of children in case of emergency. There are other ways of separating disturbances from master room yet you can access other rooms with better noise control. Sometimes we think we keep them away from us only because we want to have some rest but forgetting what they can do behind us.

I pray am back to field soon.

My opinion sr

The trick is the expertise of the block makers. An inexperienced block maker can make 20 blocks and they will still be breaking. But a good block maker will make 40 and they will still be solid.

Also look at this link for more on block making http://amazingviewpoints..com/2014/10/the-technology-of-block-making.html?m=1
The question I asked was why are you producing this quantity and not considering the quality of the items. The man said; 1- the number of time you turn/mixed the components matter most, 2- cement standard eg expire status, 3- sand type etc.

I think am still here sr
