we were forced to start building amidst heavy rain that causes us not to continue moulding of 6" blks. we decide to mount outside wall making out the partitions accordingly. Bellow are the development pxc as at now. works continue tomorrow if rain seized.

Thanks my brother, if you look at it cost of materials cover about 60-70 pec of construction cost, whiles labour and professional charges take the rest 30- 40 pec.

And if you look at it vividly and based on experience you will see that cost of labour are almost the same everywhere now
Labour charge btw 1500-2000.
Bricklayer 2500-3500
Tiler 300-500
Etc
You will agree with me that most homeowners that build good standard houses in villages or remote area now do import there workers from town or city because of there level of workmanship

More so, almost all materials for construction now do comes from city, to the village.

So I don’t see BIG Diff like 60-40 building in village and city aside from cost of land.

So I don’t know how some pep will now think that if you build with let’s say 25m in city.
And have believed that same structure will cost you far lesser than that in villlage like 13m both aside from land

NO PROFESSIONAL will Have that thought, unless what happened in 1877 will repeat itself.

I expect Spyder008 to say something about it bcs I gave the experience of blocks from his works which has yielded like 52% less of the cost I could have spent on block only.

There bedroom is around 80k to plaster. 50k wont do it. A two flat of three bedroom will cost you 180k for labor

The issue here the secret of your money management. At the end of my post I said some of things are not allow to be said here. And I will totally agree with anybody claim in money spent. When I tell my story is never must you belief me just learn from it maybe it may help you.

Am a cool follower of the House. I don't stay where proudness exist but always belong to argument and debate circuit. One of my ogas in school then told me no perfection in drawing likewise no total perfection in engineering work. Here is where I gain most of the existing experience and standard in building/construction but I never disagreed with the man that want to build with less sum.

Last week, my colleague want to plaster her house but only had less than #100,000. Three bed room bungalow. I told her I can help. She couldn't belief. We stated and finished it today. She was surprised. Less than #50,000 was used for the whole labour work. Some things are not allowed to be said here in this case.

Another 214 9" blks on ground to make it 1050 blks for outside wall. I pray money come and we proceed to 6". 1400 6" is needed.

Another 840blks on ground produced with 29 bags of cement. 35 pcs per cement is not too bad.

Termite problem is very very very hard to solve. If there's a termite colony around, destroy it. Mix industrial salt and water and spread all over.

Keep site very clean and free of wood, grass etc..

Even if you treated your wood before, they will build pathways on the wood and wait till the treatment effect wears out and still eat the wood.

Mix salt and water and spread on your land periodically. It is a continuous battle.

I'm actually thinking of a solution to roofing of houses prone to termite attack by using angle iron. Tryng to draw up the cost comparisons.

Spread used tiger battery dust all over your land can do you a favor. The other one I know is Yoruba juju style

The foundation requires much literate hence we go for well and septic digging. Well is at 43fts with 2-3 fts of water while the measurement for septic is 8*8*10 and suckaway is also prepared. All literate from these went straight to foundation filling.

Do not buy a built property in Ibadan, most of them dig things inside the house, with your budget you can buy a land and build something good for your folks, but please don’t put your family in charge of the building, must the land or house be at airport area? Using broken blocks is considerably less to moulding 9" blocks.
